Sincere 9gerian: POINT OF CORRECTION: Achebe never said Igbos are superior to other ethnic groups. Rather he said " that the Igbo culture’s emphasis on change, individualism and competitiveness gave his ethnic group an edge over others" in terms of grabbing the opportunities that the white men brought. This does not in anyway imply SUPERIORITY of the igbos over hausas or yorubas. It just implies that igbos have an edge over others in one aspect of life but there are many other aspects of life. For instance i can say without equivocation, that the hausas have an edge over other ethnic groups in terms of being SINCERE. This does not mean the hausas are superior to others and I do not need to be hausa to make this HONEST assessment. The Igbos are hardworking, industrious, enterprising and adventurous. This does not make them SUPERIOR because also on the flip side the igbos are slightly more involved in criminality than other ethnic group. But crimes and criminality in general is an INDICTMENT on Nigeria, because of govt policies. A perfect example is the govt forceful take over of missionary schools which led to breakdown of MORAL STANDARDS nationwide. Pls lets stop spreading fallacies and be objective about things.
