ActivateKruger: The Mi-17 is a better helicopter and you don't have to deal with the Yanks... Also, should you have a problem with any Mi-17, you can drop off a quotation request at many fixing points including Denel Aviation (which is a certified Mi-17 "fixing" centre).
**on a thought, I wonder who came up with the idea to take an impounded Huey and give it NAF colours. It seems like someone forgot the US policies towards the Nigerian military. Don't ever break a thing on it because Uncle Sam won't be giving away spares.
US do this to everybody, it is one of my fears for sure I dont trust them... We all know how NAF acquired those helo, they are waiting for others helo fighters but production takes time lets say it ways "in a hurry" measure. Meawhile nice helo NAF has many types of toys to test a maybe choose one later to stick to
Yes but don't also forget that 1 helicopter can fill 2 roles at the same time. The EC-135 is the civilian version there is the military version called EC635 (armed, recon, S&R variants) and with most of the same components .. And the price/quality is more attractive

We already have a good number of EC-135, they are from germany even if they many french stuff I will rater go for them ..
Henry240: NAF COMMISSIONS PROJECTS TO FULLY OPERATIONALIZE NEW UNIT IN GUSAU
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), on 5 November 2017, commissioned some projects at its 207 Quick Response Force (QRF) in Gusau, Zamfara State. The commissioned projects include an office complex, 3 blocks of 30-room airmen’s transit accommodation, an obstacles course and a rapelling tower. The commissioning of the projects marked the formal relocation of the Unit from its temporary site to the permanent one. The event, according to the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, was an “empirical demonstration of the NAF’s resolve to actualize its vision for future engagements”. He disclosed that 207 QRF was established to deal with threats to national security, particularly in Zamfara State.
NDA Announce end to ceasefire; those M... F... It was not the moment. We must finish them once and for all or push them down down in a no mans lands just like we did with BH
ActivateKruger: Do you see the difference between the US and Egypt? The Yanks don't blow up their own citizens in their own country... Meanwhile the Egyptian government blows people up and claim they're terrorists. Even Apartheid intelligence (oh God I didn't have to make this example) arrested people they believe were "terrorists" and gave them a date at the court with advocates. Trust me, if the Egyptian method was followed, Nelson Mandela and others would have been executed on the road.
You are not seriouse really, the US blow up everybody at the border, smugglers of Illegal immigrants are us citizens and they are killed very fast
Russia has signed a deal to build two nuclear power plants in Nigeria, Africa's largest economy. Russian state-owned company Rosatom will build one in the south, the other in the centre, sources at the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission told the BBC. The deal's exact worth is unknown, although some reports suggest it is likely in the region of $ 20 billion.
Whyem15: Tell me a country that has fought terrorism successfully, all that the war on terror has done is to expand its area of influence, Russian troops are Still busy in dagestan, NATO in Afghanistan, a lot of nations in Somalia, West African countries in North eastern Nigeria, even Israel is still battling resistance since 1947. The cycle will just keep on moving, with the terrorists coming up with more dangerous ways of perpetrating their evil acts. You can't just defeat ideology with force, you can kill those who you know believe in it but what about those they've passed it to. In fact I have come to notice that the more you kill these people, the more evil they get, a case study is the last 2 alshabab members in comparison to the present one. Each one of them more deadly than the predecessor, same with Boko Haram. You can only defeat an ideology with an ideology.
Ideology vs Ideology, I 100% agree with you but it still falls in the long term strategy.. Here is all about education and national orientation. Education soldiers are teachers, for teachers to deliver they need school & security otherwise we will be searching for more chibok like boys and girls...
Terrorism dates back is not something that appeared the day after 9/11; terrorism is very very old what we are seing today is terrorism in they golden age. What makes terrorism more and more powerful is media coverage they are the new Drake+lil wayne in the news and they love it, and small players have icon to stick to like ben laden, shekau, al bagdadi etc... They do speech and everything just like Presidents and the media relay everything making the job far more easier.. On youtube you have fan clubs of terrorist groups ...
One country that has fought, win and eradicated a terrorist group is Nigeria, Maitatsine around 80-85. Maitatsine is very similar to Boko Haram but there is only one difference the leader of that group call him self prophet and messi ... But follow the same ideology. Historical fact Nigeria was fighting terrorism long ago before 9/11
Whyem15: Force will never and can never be the solution to terrorism, it will only lead to you killing more innocent people and that serving as recruiting propaganda for terrorists. Majority of ex Militants interviewed joined terrorism because a family member or a friend or someone very close had been killed by Western coalitions. These people are not interested in your ways and will do whatever it takes to see that you don't impose your will on them. Terrorism had increased by 1500% and approximately 80 people now die per day due to terrorism since the American global war on terror. Those people you refer to as collateral damages during drone strikes are used as recruiting propaganda for the terrorists organizations. I am pretty sure Taliban we return to the negotiating table once NATO leaves Afghanistan.
Don't fall into the new western propaganda, first they say no negociation with terrorist now that they no more have control over some situation they now talking rubbish...
To fight terrorism or any other form of insurgency is by force otherwise you are finish it is the best and only short term strategy against people who want to kill you, I personaly put military even at the midium term solution with secret service and diplomacy.. Economic solution is only effective on the long term and impossible if the Federal Government doesn't have control over the territory contested. For recruiting is not a problem even if civilians are not killed in action (which is not deliberate) terrorist can recruit by simply winning the war, people follow blindly winners example ISIS or with money or child soldiers like boko haram did at the biggining
I know it is a little bit dark what I am going to say but it's how things are done kill or be killed...
Okorasha is an Nigerian before anything else,he is a Nigerian Governor ! it's not smart to put it on the Igbos if someone wants to associate it with a group then it must blame 190 million Nigerian.
frumentius: OFF-TOPIC: Is there something in the water in Nigeria's Imo State? Who's the dunder-head who thought this was a good idea? A statue, a road and the state's highest award!!! If they love him so much, they can keep him!
I was looking at him as the next potential President of Nigeria after Buhari .... But I think that Kachikwu is my new choice
ssaengine: Yes indeed you are making things up. Has this vehicle gone through all its trials? No. Whether it is good or not is still very far from being determined.
Not all and we are all waiting for final result. What I am saying is that base on information that we have this vehicle is good.
Henry240: It can withstand above 14.5mm rounds and up to 23mm.
Watch video from 3 minutes - 6 minutes, vehicle armour for the MRAP is explained. We currently have the best MRAP in Africa in terms of protection. No vehicle comes close.
jln115: Yes Stanag 4 for mine protection.....as are all SAn MRAPs but we are talking ballistic protection!!
I was talking about mine protection, for the ballistic protection at the moment the ARA can withstand 5.56, 7.62 is already a good thing if we add 12.7 so then we have built the best MRAP
Henry240: The fact it is locally manufactured means that even if it is more expensive than foreign ones, the benefits it provides for the Nigerian economy cannot be quantified. In terms of protection, it is the best MRAP in the inventory of the Nigerian army.
As for mobility, that's hard to say until those specifications become available.
Off-course you don't expect an MRAP to do tight turns like a Ferrari, i'm sure it will perform brilliantly during tests.
Spec & a video of the vehicle ... For this we are all going to wait
Lol not like a ferrari, if its has ferrari like turn I will suspect some serious juju ...
The benefits are large from creating more jobs in the defence sector even in the other sector that help building the ARA & growing the economy. But for sure it will less expensive than the other category III MRAP
jln115: Dont get me wrong im a strong supporter of using indigenous vehicles, Im just stating the facts since certain members like playing make believe sometimes!
I agree with every thing else you said for the most part!!
It is indeed stanag 4 I wasnt sure but it is, there is 0 chance any MRAP can compete for the Category III MRAP in Nigerian inventory. The only think Im waiting for is the military to bring all changes required and we are good
Henry240: We are not trying to re-invent the wheel with Proforce products. We have taken available tech and made it out own.
The vehicle cannot be the standard just yet, however it is out there, and would compete with the vehicles we already have in service for it's category.
In the future, it could be the standard vehicle of the Nigerian army's protected mobility.
A 6x6 variant can be produced, there is nothing to it. However at this point, this version is more than adequate.
To be frank, I don't see an MRAP in service right know that can compete. It is a very good MRAP I heard it is STANAG 4 ... It is home made so very cheap for us that's means large number can be ordered .. The only thing I am consern about is mobility we have only pictures but maybe I am wrong ...
All MRAPs today has two variant one is 4x4 and a 6x6 because MRAPs usually doesnt have good mobility. On soft ground 6x6 will be better assuming the vehicles are of similar ilk, as the weight is spread out over a larger area. Also given the extra drive wheels there is more traction in slippery condition, and the rick of becoming cross axled is reduced, as you have to cross 3 axles instead of 2.
The 4x4 and 6x6 are both adequate for the military not just one.
frumentius: Based on the conversations I've had with the professionals in the Planning Directory of the NA, after the field tests the ARA production model may end up being true to this prototype(only a good thing), with the extra bits mounted on the sides .
I hope so, and if there is a 6x6 variant this vehicle can be the stardard MRAP of the Nigerian Army... Hope the Army will say something in the news.
