Foreign AffairsRe: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Nok234: 3:16pm On Feb 04, 2017
overhypedsteve:
people will now be using the word "warship Diplomacy" anyhow now. It was not Gun boat Diplomacy it was just a rescue effort and I believe the Nigerian Head of State may have notified Jammeh of the ships.
The reason I used the " warship diplomacy" so that everybody will understands what I am talking about, why I said we need a frigate : 1) we already use frigates we have 2 Hamilton Class for this job but they are outdated so we have to change them ... We had also Aradu in the past, it is always for the same mission;
2) ECOMOG is a formal arrangement for separate armies to work together. It was largely supported by personnel and resources of the Nigerian Armed Forces, with sub-battalion strength units contributed by other ECOWAS members — Guinea, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, Liberia, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, and others. Nigeria must be ahead of other countries in Africa if we want to be called " Giant of Africa";
3) If you want to be a country that has weight on the international scene you must have the armed forces that goes with it is not a supprise if the countries that have the right of veto in the united nations are the countries with the best armed forces and are all nuclear powers. On earth it is the strongest who decides, and if you decide you are saved from the savagery of the world.
4) Nigeria has many interest all over Africa, population all over Africa; for example in Gambia, The Supreme Court in the Gambia is essentially composed of Nigerian magistrates and this all is the situation in many other countries ...
5) The weak can not negotiate, it is not possible, it is human nature that wants this. There is no diplomacy possible without the weapons you need to influence decisions
6) On earth if you are NOT the Chief, then you have a Chief. it is inconceivable for a countries of the size of Nigeria to be influence by another one ... for any other country too but since their are weak and strong so you now who will be the Commander In Chief
7) If Nigeria doesnt help here neighbors in security, the disaster will come to here thats a fact The borders are visible on the map but does not exist physical ex: Boko Haram attack everywhere Nigeria Niger Cameroon Chad ...
cool If Nigeria is not the police in Africa another country will be it is simple there is no magic. France is already the police but it does nothing in the interests of Nigerians but rather in here own interests . France will not lose soldiers for Nigeria ... at worst it will send the war to Nigeria if it has any interest. It has already be done with the Biafra ...
9) The reason for a good Armed Force are huge and I can go again and again, I love the Nigerian Armed Forces but why we need them is more a necessity
10) Nigeria lost Bakassi because Nigeria was weak ! CIA FACT BOOK SOURCE : Joint Border Commission with Cameroon reviewed 2002 ICJ ruling on the entire boundary and bilaterally resolved differences, including June 2006 Greentree Agreement that immediately cedes sovereignty of the Bakassi Peninsula to Cameroon with a phaseout of Nigerian control within two years while resolving patriation issues; the ICJ ruled on an equidistance settlement of Cameroon-Equatorial Guinea-Nigeria maritime boundary in the Gulf of Guinea, but imprecisely defined coordinates in the ICJ decision and a sovereignty dispute between Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon over an island at the mouth of the Ntem River all contribute to the delay in implementation; only Nigeria and Cameroon have heeded the Lake Chad Commission's admonition to ratify the delimitation treaty which also includes the Chad-Niger and Niger-Nigeria boundaries; location of Benin-Niger-Nigeria tripoint is unresolved.
FOR BAKASSI WE LOST, LOOK AT CHINA They do not care about ICC ( TOPIC : "south china sea" google it or have a small documentary on it you will see what is called power and why indonesia philipine and everything are building good armed forces )
11) no cooperation without force, take an example I cant deal with Dangote, thats the same thing with countries. If you are not strong you cant deal with strong people they will always have an advantage ....
12) No our millitary budget doesnt reflect it, it is sad, but for we dont need massive thing if have other priorities when we finish with the electricity issue and then sell all the government companies to Nigerian Private sector now we can begin acting like a country (Im not socialist if you are is ok, but for real it doesnt work it is another issue not on this topic so no comment on this)
13) Yes the Millitary is more than interested of having a good force, all security agencies are interest even the president everybody im pretty sure that DSS is the most interrest because DSS dont fight groups she only spy on them and what she see everyday must be very Worrying ( South South insurgency, Boko Haram, Ansaru, Hesbollah of Nigeria, and all the remaing groups that are not mension on Channels Tv lol ... more we have close to us Alquaida in Mali all those terrorist groups and not friendly countries like Cameroun, Gabon, France and all that will not loose an opportunity to skata everything...
14) Defence Partners come and go this is politics no one will we kill him self for Nigeria is this world if not he have interest, only Nigerians must stand for Nigeria. but we still have good relationship with USA ( with many unbargos and I hate them) also China ( septic ) Russia ( if they want to hit they will hit us Russians do real politics ) so I think you have the message I am not saying we need a Nuclear Bomb what Im saying is that we need to do what is possible...
15) Even if in the papers sending NNS UNITY is not aggressive, It is a really aggressive move .. Jammeh run away, if not he will be always at the state house that a fact.
16) Ferry back Nigerians is true we have to be able to protect our citizens when we are dealing, or in the other hand it will be useless .. to do something and the one who are paying the price is your citizens there are no strategy in it... but the real reason for NNS UNITY over there was to scared Jammeh
17) actually "Gunboat Diplomacy" translate what happen over their our diplomats failed, even The President Buhari failed, so show of force was necessary ... even the US if they want something and you refuse Look at the horizon may be you can see USS George Washington (CVN-73)
18) picture 1) UK navy in Nigeria Lagos this is called show of force. Bling bling show, 2) Russian Armed forces in Syria this is called we are not joking ...

PMB was a formal military man while GEJ was a bloody civilian. Although I will still say PMB tried because he had fewer resources in terms of government income and a very high exchange rate(155 to a $ now 305 to a $ officially) which would limit procurement of weapons. The best thing is just to make sure we produce most of our basic military needs within the country.
Yes made in Nigeria is the best long term Defense strategy ... and more the millitary respect he is a 5 start, they really see him ass their leader thats good

You're not the US, not even in West Africa... Maybe I should remind you how much you struggled with BH. How do you think you can battle Senegal, Niger, Ghana and Cameroon combined? .. You don't have solid ground formations, your airforce only drops free-fall bombs, your navy doesn't fire anything above a 76mm projectile.

You're over estimating your small military muscle.
Solid ground formation lmao you must be kiding, BH has been very difficult thats true no war is simple, US and EU are still in afganistan no west african country aside of Nigeria can defeat a group like BH, it will be a mess just like in Mali, Mali has almost lost the war then France intervene and Nigeria too ... no progress ... Russia even run away from Afganistan that doesnt mean that all the middle east agains Russia the Russians will loose.
Senegal army is a very very small army with beautiful paintings on their vehicle (NO MINE PROTECTION zero COIN capability ) ... not even enough for a real conventional war ... we take Niger Chad and all this tralala all of them I wonder if they can have more cash than GLO (company) ...
our Army needs new equipment thats for sure because we dont focus on them to equip our self, but with what have currently we finish them ...
dont even talk about our ships .. they only boats ... Im wondering if they radars but even if .. we have stealf technology in our arsenal ...
Nigerian Armed forces are currently deployed in more than 9 countries .. and more we are fighting 2 insurgency in our country yet we are winning everything

Dictatorship occurs anywhere, it's even likely to happen in South Africa with more stable years (and stronger institutions).

So don't dodge the question, would ECOWAS troops enter Nigeria to setup another example in a scenario dictatorship occurred?
No because ECOWAS dont even exit without Nigeria ... look imagine their is a Dictator in US will NATO attack the US or will only say that he is a good guy ?
Foreign AffairsRe: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Nok234: 6:25am On Jan 31, 2017
GreenandGold:
But why is everyone from West Africa keep saying "this serves as a model".... One wonders if the same ECOWAS would put boots in Nigeria if maybe Buhari would steal an election.
you really don't get it ... Nigeria no country in west africa will dear to put boots in Nigeria ... ECOWAS is controlled by Nigeria if you like it or not ... everything ECOMOG or ECOMIG whatever you call it is controled by Nigeria, even big African institution like ADB is controlled by Nigeria the only country that can put bots in Nigeria which is already operating in Africa is France ... its not magic why no one attack NorthKorea ?...

Frumentius, I was right all along. The ECOWAS intervention in Gambia was illegal.

For days, I asked you and the other proponents who supported the invasion of Gambia to provide the legal proof which backs such an intervention, of course you guys could not and some others resorted to name calling.

Here is the evidence which supports my opinion.

ECOWAS used Article 58 of its revised treaty relating to regional security to justify the intervention, according to Nigerian legal expert Barrister Hassan Liman. Liman said the law stipulates that member states must work to safeguard and consolidate relations to maintain peace, stability and security within the region.

He added that the article does not give ECOWAS the right to use force to oust a leader.

Henry from the law perspective all wars are illegal, but we have to know something law is possible because of power, when we are talking about military action law has no power cant do anything ... we all have to read the constitution ...
The state gouvernment allows the constitution, the law is nothing without the power, it is not by magic if the police is also called law enforcement agency... when we talk about country against country there is no law there are just Agreements often call treaties, but treaties are respected by the weakest ones...

now that Jammeh is gone, what do you think is in store for the other long serving leaders of Africa? Will the AU now have the gut to do the same in say, Zimbabwe, Angola, Rwanda, and Uganda?
the next one must be Cameroon, Rwanda no its still a democratic country and its to risky I dont want to see a genocide again ...

A bunch of Jonathan supporters who have simply refused to move on or accept that the military under GEJ was hopelessly corrupt or the GEJ loss in the election.

At a point we spent 5.7 billion dollars on defence a year, what was that money used for?

Let him provide the evidence of my false claims so that I can tear him apart.

For the avoidance of doubt, I'm also an ardent GEJ supporter, when I came back to Nigeria, I participated in neighbour-to-neighbour events in support of the GEJ campaign.
Thats true ! for real I love every single president of Nigeria, but seriously talking about defence and security PMB is better than GEJ

Henry240, we need to talk about some explanations you give.... They make no sense.

1. Same ethnicity =/= same political agenda.
2. Common history =/= common current interests.
3. Doing pushups in front of foreign soldiers =/= respecting your incoming president.

If I was the incoming president, I'll definitely sack all the mofies who sucked the Senegalese troops cocks - it's shameful.
Ok with you for a country this is a discress ... in Nigeria this will never happen rather skata everything !!!!!!!!!!

I've found them out. They are the Senegalese version of the French GIGN, Nigerian DSS equivalent.

Here are more
No.
GIGN, is the elite law enforcement and special operations unit of the French National Gendarmerie. the French National Gendarmerie is equivalent to MOPOL, and their MOPOL has their own SF. The area of responsability of Gendarmerie is outside cities, if you want is the Police outside big cities;
main Mission: The policing of the countryside, rivers, coastal areas, and small towns with populations under 20,000, that are outside of the jurisdiction of the French National Police. The Gendarmerie's area of responsibility represents approx. 95% of the French territory and 50% of the population of France
The National Gendarmerie is one of two national police forces of France.

DSS on the other hand is a secret service, is the primary domestic intelligence agency of Nigeria. It is primarily responsible for intelligence gathering equivalent to US-FBI, France-Direction générale de la sécurité intérieure, DGSI or UK- MI5. It is ok for DSS to have SF today every great Nations has SF in their Secret Services.

***OFF TOPIC***

Two Turkish Leo 2's got utterly wiped out by an IS ambush. IED strike + sustained ATGM fire.

This makes the Leo 2A4 first of the modern NATO tanks to suffer a 100% confirmed K-kill (Catastrophic kill) from enemy fire.

Note: Just to be as clear as humanly possible, some earlier pictures of K-kills may be the result of Turks destroying their tanks to prevent capture (Usually with F16's or demo charges). This, however, is 100% confirmed to be a result of enemy fire.
2 possibility, 1 German tanks are garbage (Im not sure ...), or 2 German ( and their western friends ) sells garbage to none true ally countries
but this also is a fact nothing can really stop an ATMG seriously, and also depending on IEDs are some who are really deadly

The Gambian Navy consist of 4 Dvora-class fast patrol boat 37 knots Range: 560 nmi 1 × Oerlikon 20 mm cannon
2 × 12.7 mm machine guns, the Air power a single Sukhoi Su-25. where are my JF-17 ?

NNS centenary must be deployed too...

This op will show our current problems and I am very optimistiq that the military will buy more stuff for 21st century intervention

like henry said Makassar class will be a very good choise, we need also some missiles in the Navy Steregushchiy-class corvette (one of my dreams again), and for extra power in the air SU-34 (my biggest dream and lova, my honny my everything). additional military transport aircraft (x10 let me dream )

Anything government touches would turn to dust. I don't agree with government having a stake. What i however think is, government can fund 2 or 3 projects, say an APC/MRAP and an IFV.

Proceeds gained from the sales can be shared by the company and government.
I agree with you, the FG should only fund projects, MRAP is already done. for the next best thing will be a tracked chassis just enough to be at the same level of Uk Warrior ( 25 tons ) an AFV cn be turn in to so many variant ( APC IFV SPG Anti Air etc ), and when you look at our current inventory you will see that we have at least 450 tracked AFVs this will be a good investment. ( JUST ONE OF MY DREAMS )

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Comp Air Aviation of USA to seal the partnership on production of multi-role light utility aircrafts.
Mr Lueck noted that the future is bright for the NAF in its pursuit of technological self reliance noting that the Comp Air Aviation posses the requisite technological framework to support the vision.

Actually our defence procurement is still as diversifed as ever. The only change we have made is move lethal weapon procurements from our traditional Western partners to East.

Let's look at our recent procurements.

4 x Recon planes - USA
5 x UCAV - China
Light weapons - Poland, Ukraine, Singapore and China
Artillery - Ukraine
120 x MRAP - China
46 x MRAP - South-Africa
3 x MI-24v - Ukraine
MI-17 terminator - Russia
12 x MI-35m - Russia
4 x Alpha jets - USA
JF-17 - Pakistan /China
Bombs - Pakistan
UAV - UAE
50 x T-72 - Ukraine and Czech Republic
IFV - Ukraine and Czech Republic
2 x OPV - USA
2 x OPV - China
IPV - Nigeria, Netherlands
Trainer aircrafts - Pakistan
Transport planes - Spain
ATR-42 - Italy
Small arms - Israel

So, as you can see we are not depending on a single source.
it's reassuring, I hope we will continue like this
