the 19 northern and the 17 southern state where created by foolish Nigeria military officers.
Before the military forced there way into power, there was NORTHERN REGION,SOUTHERN REGION, EASTERN REGION and the WESTERN REGION.
So am sure that has answered your question

One Nigeria in deed
You guys sometimes ... The only way to find out something & not be rediculose in life is to ask why ? Then how ? ....
Military dont look at making stuff beutiful but effective ... There is a reason why must of everything that is training is mostly in the north first reason is History .. Kaduna was ones the capital of Nigeria thats even why is the second melting polt after lagos .. The civil war push the military to build training institution in the north ... Look at your list why is Navy hydrografic school in south south ??... Yes good answer because there is water there wow ... Very good there are reason for everything ... And when you look at it very carefully most of the training of army/airforce are in the north then the operational command is in the south East this make sense. Most of the things that are related with signals and all those blabla are Lagos no doudt Lagos is the most technology advance state in Nigeria most of the infracturture are already there. So plz stop this juju thinking and be objectiv.
And more you have divided south-west south-east and south south you must divide the north to like north west north east and north north

IMHO
I will wait till i hear from the main sources : The Chief of Air staff Air Marshall Sadique Abubakar , based on his record of 2015- 2017. He has proved himself to know what he is doing.
Regardless of costs it is very evident that Nigeria needs these AIRCRAFT because what Nigeria has is not specifically designed for this kind of conflict, having said that this deal still has many hurdles to pass before it comes to fruition so biko/ jo/ Dan Allah let us all exercise patience.
The article quoted amongst other things that is in America's overall interests to sell the Planes to Nigeria, It will come with UPGRADES AND SOPHISTICATED GADGETS that will be responsible for precision and accuracy which means it will not be of basic configuration.
Again make una exercise patience story just begin
Yes still is the best COIN aircraft in the world, and operating cost is very low

Why is this our contract quite high? I can't quite figure it out.
According to Reuters The Super Tucano costs more than $10 million each and the price can go much higher depending on the configuration. So maybe we are going for a mega tucano... http://uk.reuters.com/article/us-usa-nigeria-arms-factbox-idUKKCN0XX09U

But seriously is still very expensive is the price tag for minimum 5 F-35 with some missiles...

the Nigeria army said they have freed this people ,so who are this ones we are seeing
Book haram where not this active when buhari was the president, why have they suddenly became very active when we have an acting President who is a Christian and from the southern part of Nigeria at the helms of affair...hmmm
Boko haram was used by northerners to destabilise the government of GEJ back then, and don't forget buhari said and I quote "An attack on book haram is an attack on the north"

WHY DID THE NIGERIA ARMY HAS TO LIE THAT THEY HAVE FREED THIS PEOPLE?
Please stop this thing of muslim/christian. Here we talk about Nigeria... When Buhari was here boko haram was still doing raids we all know this, this is a successful raid thats all period. And more we are not genuise here but we try to be the most objectif possible! All those things that you have said are from A to B false.
If you want to understand why when Buhari came in office the army regained most of the lost lands is 1) GEJ has bough new equipment and they were fully used when Buhari became President 2) Buhari has boost the moral of the entire military because know they can trust the FG because the late administration was so corrupt that they were stealing the money intended to buy weapon know thats have change 3) BH is not coming back and the chances they will have the power they had in the past is to small, meawhile the military already told everybody now they are going to use the hit and run tactics otherwise " RAIDs"

Your vegetable of a Buhari is a hopeless bastard who has no business whatsoever being in power. He has spent most of the time he was elected into power in various trips or a London hospital.

That idiot has not been in Nigeria for 3 months straight since he was elected.

Lol, the government has provided equipment just like those before him, nothing special.

Tell that illiterate vegetable to resign already!
First of all he is not illiterate & pretty sure he knows more than all of us in this tread. He is the CIC so show respect. Dont allow others says about him be your own thinking use your braine instead they all afraid of him because when he say corrupt officials in prison he actuality do it. For the Military he is doing a great job the nomination of the current CoAF tell everything. The Armed Forces are building more on communition than equipment must of the founds are directed on that area (talking about the stuff we are doing with Sweden) maybe he is not that good in oral art or mathematics but he is very smart in stuff like the military the respect other soldiers give him says everything. Knowledge is very large if for you, you are only intelligent when you are only good in economics so I am very sorry for you because even military stuff are very hard to anderstand we only know the name of different ships vehicle etc proposed by companies who advertise they product and what the US armed forces told us in documentaries thats all when you look inside you see that the military is another world with so many things ... Before saying smeone is illitarat go try this Alma mater Nigerian Military Training College, Mons Officer Cadet School, U.S. Army War College + Governor of north eastern state, Federal Commissioner for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Chairman of the Petroleum Trust Fund, ALL THE WARS HE DID & most important x2 times President of the federal republic of Nigeria

The SSV will be operating with another asset when on deployment. With its capability to carry three helos, the other asset most likely a well armed OPV will carry a helo. That's 4 helos already.
Yes for sure for a good amphibious cap we need air, land sea support.
I am very happy that we have these kind of leaders for the army navy air force; they are doing the work.

If there's a Nigerian Navy officer in the forum I simply wanna ask what kind of interest does the SSV serve in the navy considering the following:
- The NN currently has no defensive and offensive capacity/capabilities.
- The SSV only carries 3 helicopters and can hardly carry armour of any serious support to the 500 troops it carries.

I'm not trying to bash anyone, I'm trying to find logic behind the acquisition. Thanks
Nigerian Navy is modernising her fleet, other countries opted for corvette frigates first before Landing Ships... Nigeria is buying what we need first then we are going for other stuff like frigates corvettes...
This SSV is for transport of marines, light amphibious forces. Very good for our coast line, and all the region. (Gulf of guinea). 2 helo is more than enough its not a helicopter carrier, but more used to transport troops

Going back to the Chief of Naval Staff's comment. We can now strike out a few items from the list he made.

-The now confirmed SSV from Indonesia should cover up the proposed LPD to be purchased.

- 3 Helicopters have been bought .

- 1 Seaward Defence Boat currently valued at 10 million dollars is currently being built at the Naval dockyard in Lagos.
Finally your dreams came true lmao, stuff are becoming more beautiful ! Smiling*

Submarines are used for many task, in wartime they do what they do best sunk everything, in peacetime they are used as deterrance but more importantly SIGNIT. And there are cables everywhere in Nigerias waters

Henry240:
I disagree with you. Military spending can be increased, all Nigerian armed services can point to a threat. Air Force and Army would say Boko-Haram, Navy would claim oil theft.

Even we look at the things the Nigerian navy chief has mentioned, you can see that they are already been acquired.

He mentioned 1 Helicopter, we all know the Nigerian navy is receiving 3 Airbus helicopters. We have seen pictures.

He mentioned LPD, we know the Nigerian navy would soon order an SSV from Indonesia. I shared an Indonesian link.

He talked about a Landing Ship Tank, we all know the Nigerian navy signed an agreement with the Indians to locally build an LST in Nigeria.

He mentioned a Seaward Defence Boat, we all know we build those in Nigeria. A 40 meters SDB was launched last year, a larger 50 meters SDB is currently under construction at the Nigerian naval dockyard.

What else is left in the list, just a Frigate,an OPV and a sub. So you tell me, where are we?
Long Endurance OPV 120M + LPD 350M + LST 90M = 560 M dollars .... Juan Carlos Helicopter carrier = 600 M dollars ... I will prefere the scenario two 3 in one

There is no news yet on the Vessel the Nigerian navy intends to buy. However we have confirmation both from the Nigerian and Indonesian side stating that vessels are to be purchased.

The second vessel available to the Nigerian navy is the SSV. The SSV is a brilliant ship, ordered by the Philippines navy, and used to transport men and equipment to Malawi, the SSV would be a very good addition to the Nigerian navy.

The SSV is 123 meters long These vessels are critical assets for civil-military operations due to their capability of transporting large number of soldiers, logistics, and supplies. Moreover, each SSV has the capacity to house three helicopters.
Maybe your dreams are coming true lol hope we will choose something close to the Philip variant

The Typhoon is a very good MRAP, but pretty sure the ARA Mrap will be better. Meanwhile there is another vehicle that I have noticed on ther youtube page the "hurricane" a big brother for MRAPs it will be very great having that not only for the army but also Police & MOPOL. Rusians are operating a similar vehicle called KAMAZ-63968 Typhoon-K MRAP https://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=Yqg07cZvEzE
