When did “as if it were” become “it is”?

“As if it were” is meant to indicate it is counter-factual. It could be interpreted as “though it is not”

This is just simple English na.

Example: treat a non oil producing state as if it were an oil producing state. Does that make the non oil producing state an oil producing state?

Thought about this.......The oath of office has to be taken by the President for example as prescribed by the constitution. Without the Oath of Office the President elect cannot be officially said to be president.

Side note, APC govt has their own means and ways to apply the constitution when it affects them negatively. You'll probably start hearing that it's a mere formality. 😁
