Politics › Re: Generator Ban Bill: Femi Fani-Kayode Blasts Bima Enagi by NothingDoMe: 1:31pm On Mar 12, 2020
Romanoff:
As much as I want to agree with FFK and those shouting the man down, I have chosen to see his reason.

This climate change affecting the world, what steps have Nigerian taken to curtail its effect?

All we do is go for UN summits on SDGs and Climate change but how are we contributing to the goal?

Our air pollution is on the increase, we litter the environment and drainage ways with nylons and dirt, we don't have a strong recycling culture, many of us, especially on rural areas still use coal and firewood to Cook.

It really starts with one policy.

If the ban works, we can look up to alternative means of electricity, there's solar, turbines, biogas, etc.

The heat in Abuja this year, I've never seen the kind and it will get worse.
You will ban first. Then think of alternatives later? Seriously? Where would businesses get power to sustain their activities?

Why not try to fish out those sabotaging the power industry?

Politics › Re: Mele Kyari: Nigerians Should Prepare For 3 Months Trouble Over Oil Price Crash by NothingDoMe: 10:50pm On Mar 11, 2020
Queseda:
All the hypocrites cussing Buhari should rather tell us what they would have done if they were in Buhari's shoes with the oil price this low and being the mainstay of our economy from one administration to another. Everyone has been paying lip service to diversification of the economy.
I guess it's easier to criticize than to profer solutions to problems, most of the hypocrites here never said anything when the last administration had to borrow to pay salaries despite earning the most in terms of oil revenue in the history in this country, but would abuse Buhari who hasn't earned half of what Jona earned and hasn't owed salaries but instead has been giving bailouts to states. Posterity will be kind to Buhari for this alone regardless of what you dimwits think
Well, its time for Buhari to use the trillions made by Customs, fuel subsidy removal, and border closure to shore up the economy. They've been singing his praises. It's time to dance.

Blue3k:
Nairaland conspiracy theories are some of the dumbest on the internet. If this a conspiracy what's stopping the government from arresting the master minds? The state instead gives amnesty to these criminals. The government doesn't enforce laws on foreign herdsmen. You excuse mongers should should stop chasing shadows, focus on policy failures.
Lol.
Politics › Re: Sagay: Supreme Court Should Have Imposed A Higher Fine On Ihedioha's Lawyers by NothingDoMe: 2:49am On Mar 04, 2020
festacman:
Although the Justices of Supreme Court have powers to award cost to punish appellants when necessary, imposing those hefty amounts against Afe Babalola and Wole Olanipekun was unnecessary humiliation. They could have throwned out the review request without denigrating the some of the finest members of the Bar who have made so much contribution to the legal profession.

In as much as giving in to judgement review requests by selfish and inconsiderate politicians would ultimately bastardize the image of the apex court but insisting that the institution can NEVER review its judgement even in the face of new strong evidence is simply judicial dictatorship. The implication of this ruling is that an innocent man on death row can still be executed once Supreme Court upholds his conviction even if a new incontrovertible evidence emerges. It is a poor attempt by fallible human beings to play God. The thought of this is scary.
The problem was the publicity. The media carried it like they were on a mission to dethrone the supreme court and enthrone themselves as final arbitrators.

It's a mistake many can learn from. Never try to outshine your master.

Yes. Fear sells a lot. That's why many run to prophets to see into the future or battle some unknown hardship.

People fear what they do not understand and ignorance is expensive.

Corona Virus loading ooo..

Please Nairaland Moderators, you can help save Nigerians by reducing the rate at which you glorify people eating wild animals on Nairaland FrontPage atleast till the Lasser fever outbreak and Corronavirus endemic goes down, we really don't have the resources to tackle another outbreak if another virus, infection or disease crosses from animal host and reservoir to human victims, and it is now everyone would pay dearly

Health › Re: 10 Ways To Protect Yourself And Family From The Coronavirus by NothingDoMe: 1:35pm On Feb 28, 2020
Tobimillar1:
Nigeria is safe. The virus is just like the flu season here . It affects mostly the elderly and immunocompromised .. I never got the flu shot and I once had the flu last year and it was just like normal catarrh and cough .. same flu that killed thousands here in the US last year . I think this particular covid-19 has an affinity for the Asian gene. The US has had 53 cases yet to single death . Same with Canada . Most of those who died are Chinese and Koreans . So you guys should just relax .. Ebola is for Africans , flu for Americans , sars and convid-19 for Asians .

Caveat : don’t take my word for anything oo, I am not a doctor
