Nigerians have succesfully developed the best, largest and richest fashion industry in Africa! And guess what? It is purely African-styled fashion!

O0XYGEN:Are you not ashamed to be posting pictures of Lagos in 1999? Pls, that was Lagos of the last millenium. Google is your friend. Just google Lagos city and here is what you will get (current pictures)
|
Obi1kenobi:The point is that small countries have their advantage and big countries have their own advantage. Small countries like Denmark, Norway, Sweden e.t.c may have the higher standard of life (so what)? Many Americans may not know where these countries are on the map, but the people of these small countries know everything about America. They read about America day and night. They can't do without America's influence. They want to speak English like Americans and dress like American stars. They cannot do without America's inventions like Google, skype, facebook, twitter e.t.c Most of them dream of going to America to visit the financial, fashion and entertainment capitals of the world. America has the number of millionaires and billionaires that control the world. They have the large markets. Omce you make it in America, you are already a world figure/superstar. How many more advantages can i count? At the end of the day, big countries have more advantages. Until you become part of a small irrelevant country, you may never know the advantages you have. |
See what City centres in Nigeria's Benin and Calabar cities look like (both cities are not even among Nigeria's top 5), yet they have better centres than Accra.
|
O0XYGEN: Just30:Accra is like the most useless capital city in West Africa, just take a look at what Accra city centre looks like. This is totally unbefitting for the poorest Nigerian state capitals.
|
O0XYGEN:What a shame! Is this all you have for the capital of your country? Night pics of a bridge? Show us an aerial photo of daytime Accra! This is an aerial view of daytime PH (Nigeria's 4th largest city)
|
uzzyfire:Chikena |
Port harcourt (Nigeria's 4th largest city). Accra cannot even compare!
|
Just30: O0XYGEN:Charli, see your Accra here! What's so special?
|
O0XYGEN:Which country in the world can you compare to USA (the world super power)? Which country can you compare to Nigeria (Africa's super power)? ![]() |
O0XYGEN:Foools are easily spotted here. Norway has a higher literacy rate than USA. Cuba has a higher life expentacy than USA. Canada has a more efficient health care system than USA. Qatar has a higher income per capital than USA Sweden has a higher HDMI than USA. USA has more poor people than Denmark. Australia is far more peaceful and crime free than USA Many countries of the world beat USA in different welfare indexes. But how come USA is still the world super power whom almost everyone looks up to? This is something your primitive mind cannot understand. |
Lagos is the entertainment, Fashion, Banking and Financial capital of Africa. Pls, where does Accra and Nairobi come in? |
They are here insulting Nigerians on the largest African social network. While the owner (a Nigerian) is making millions (into the Nigerian economy) from their comments. Pls, who are the fools here? uzzyfire: |
Just30:Can you pls show me one aspect that Ghana dominates West Africa? I did not ask for the whole Africa, just west Africa. If you cannot, then what else can we say! |
O0XYGEN:If not that you are an ignorant foool, you will know that lost tribes are still discovered every year in South America. Look below and see some of the tribes discovered in Brazil, Peru, Colombia e.t.c Just as the rainforests of South America (Brazil e.t.c) are very vast and deep, so are the mountains of Adamawa/Taraba axis of Nigeria! These places were the last places colonial masters reached in Nigeria and they never reached the mountains. Those tribes live on the highest of the mountains. I guess Ghana and Kenya are better than Brazil for uncivilized people to still be found in Brazil and Peru few years ago. Imbecilles!
|
kikuyu1 I hope you can see the resemblance in what our fore fathers wore (pre colonial times) and what we are wearing today? It's just a modification of what we had. You Kenyans cannot modify anything because you never had anything. It's such a shame that you guys wear western-styled clothes to your social gatherings (poor Africans). ![]()
|
kikuyu1:If not stupidity, why should one expect clothes of centuries ago to look exactly the same with the ones worn now? As time goes, we have to modify the clothes, but the original (ancestral) style/pattern remains! I could not view your link, but one thing you must know is that the Igbos as well as most west African tribes enslaved each other and kept many slaves. As usual, you cannot expect the slaves to wear elaborate clothes and designs like their masters. Some of these slaves/slave communities were even kept naked by their masters and sold to the European buyers (where our African-American and Carribean brothers descended from). So, yes, some of our people (slaves) did not wear clothes and you cannot use such pics to judge our Kings, emperors, royal families and free commoners. Look at pictures of pre colonial and colonial Igbos (first picture) and other Nigerians.

Just30:You tell me, i don't know. I work with the IMF and World bank accepted statistics. Which are you working with? The one from your ass? |
uzzyfire:Seriously, i don't blame them. I blame Nairaland for giving these kind of people the opportunity to compare with us. You can imagine the insults. Accra cannot even compare with Port harcourt, Kaduna, Aba, Ibadan or Kano cities. Lagos state and Ghana have the same population yet Lagos economy is about 3 times that of the entire Ghana. You guys should thank Nairaland for giving you a platform to compare Nigerians. Afterall the more you are here, the more (Seun Osewa) makes more cool cash into Nigerian economy. ![]() |
Just30:Go and change our records from the IMF and world bank in Europe, where our per capital income (nominal) is almost $3,000 and yours has not been able to cross the $1,500 range. Officially, the average Nigerian is richer than the average Ghanian. What else could be more than that? |
Just30:Abuja is the fastest growing city in Africa and it is the only city in Africa (with millions of people) that was planned entirely from the scratch. How can you compare your Accra where people have been building houses anywhere they like for decades with Abuja that was a complete virgin land 24 years ago and was built with a master plan entirely from the scratch? Are you nuts? It's obvious that most of your comments do not deserve a reply, just see the way you are embarassing yourself here. |
Jayceon:You are an ignorant liar. Mama awards is rotated. It has been held in Nigeria. Ok, tell me the total net worth of your whole entertainment industry since it is the best in Africa! How many millionaire artistes can your entertainment industry boast of? |
uzzyfire:I just taya for that sculpture of Charcoal called a Ghanian. Fela conquered the world with his music. Who the hell is Mensah? Why did Mensah not conquer the world with his music? |
Muafrika2:Exactly, just as you find the lebanese, Chinese and Indians all over the world doing things legally and illegally. Infact i never knew the heart of Nigerians until i watched a documentary of Nigerians in China, South Korea and some central Asian nations. Many of them were even married to Asian women and living very affluently. We have started experiencing an increase in the population of mixed race people in Nigeria because many of these mixed race children come back to Nigeria. |
Muafrika2:Yes, we had some influences to our garments, but still you hardly find their replicas outside Nigeria because Nigerians are very creative. For centuries, we knew how to modify our clothings as the world trend changes. |
uzzyfire:Don't mind that ignorant soul (Just). Many Nigerians run to Ghana because they cannot get admission in Nigerian universities (due to fierce competition)! Many of us like myself have to stay at home for some years and study harder because we could not reach the cut-off mark for admission. Nigerian govt universities are for the intelligent! I wonder the intelligence of Ghanaians because you see people who could not secure admission into Nigerian universities running to Ghana and they get admission instantly as long as they have their cash at hand. |
sHOTdownHawk:See this ignorant liar! The portuguese people who traded with Nigerian tribes in the 15th century met our people wearing clothes and they compared the streets of Benin kingdom with steeets of Amsterdam, Netherlands. Did your naked ancestors ever knew what civilsation was before Europeans? No wonder you are still drinking cow blood in Kenya raw till date. |
Just30:Seriously, what development are you guys making when your Accra is just like an ordinary suburb of Lagos like Ikorodu? How come all other West African countries put together is barely half of Nigeria's GDP? How come your per capital incomes are still half of Nigeria's? What an irony. Go and see what small countries like yours e.g Gabon and Namibia are doing, then come back and comment. |
Just30:Then explain to me why we have the highest income per capital in West Africa? Twice that of Ghana? |
Muafrika2:Well, at least the westernerns evolved new fabrics within themselves and their cycle, not from Kenya. We Nigerians will keep on wearing the bulky attires forever as we have been wearing in time pasts, with modern modifications, ideas and appeal added. |
uzzyfire:I never knew that the Just guy was a Ghanaian. I tot he was Kenyan. Seriously, it is the highest insult for Nigerians to be comparing with Ghanaians. Compare North-east or North-west Nigeria with Ghana instead. Pls it's really embarassing. We can manage to debate with Kenya at least, because Kenya is the king (with one eye) in the kingdom of the blind (East Africa). |
Jayceon:Xenophobic lazy asses. Let us agree that all Nigerians are bad people, what abt the Somalians and the Zimbabweans and others attacked in SA? Are they also bad people too? Go and recover your economy from your slave masters before you think of challenging your superiors who built their own economy and country themselves. We built the financial, Banking and entertainment capital of Africa with our hands. What did you Xenophobeasts build with your primitive slave hands? |

That's not some rumor or a he said she said,it's a very well known fact.look at all the places that nigerians have invade and you will notice the following:
