ChangeIsCostant:Love 1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. 4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. 8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. 9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. 11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. |

Question: "What does the
Bible say about Christian
tithing? Should a Christian
tithe?"
Answer: Many Christians
struggle with the issue of
tithing. In some churches giving
is over-emphasized. At the same
time, many Christians refuse to
submit to the biblical
exhortations about making
offerings to the Lord. Tithing/
giving is intended to be a joy
and a blessing. Sadly, that is
sometimes not the case in the
church today.
Tithing is an Old Testament
concept. The tithe was a
requirement of the Law in
which the Israelites were to
give 10 percent of the crops
they grew and the livestock
they raised to the tabernacle/
temple (Leviticus 27:30;
Numbers 18:26; Deuteronomy
14:24; 2 Chronicles 31:5). In fact,
the Old Testament Law required
multiple tithes—one for the
Levites, one for the use of the
temple and the feasts, and one
for the poor of the land—which
would have pushed the total to
around 23.3 percent. Some
understand the Old Testament
tithe as a method of taxation to
provide for the needs of the
priests and Levites in the
sacrificial system.
After the death of Jesus Christ
fulfilled the Law, the New
Testament nowhere commands,
or even recommends, that
Christians submit to a legalistic
tithe system. The New
Testament nowhere designates
a percentage of income a person
should set aside, but only says
gifts should be “in keeping with
income” ( 1 Corinthians 16:2).
Some in the Christian church
have taken the 10 percent
figure from the Old Testament
tithe and applied it as a
“recommended minimum” for
Christians in their giving.
The New Testament talks about
the importance and benefits of
giving. We are to give as we are
able. Sometimes that means
giving more than 10 percent;
sometimes that may mean
giving less. It all depends on the
ability of the Christian and the
needs of the body of Christ.
Every Christian should diligently
pray and seek God’s wisdom in
the matter of participating in
tithing and/or how much to
give ( James 1:5). Above all, all
tithes and offerings should be
given with pure motives and an
attitude of worship to God and
service to the body of Christ.
“Each man should give what he
has decided in his heart to give,
not reluctantly or under
compulsion, for God loves a
cheerful giver” ( 2 Corinthians
9:7). |
[quote author=DONSMITH123 post=51448370]The Presidential campaign spokesperson, Femi Fani-Kayode, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to release some high profile detainees in the country, saying their detention was illegal and barbaric. The former Aviation Minister, who took to his twitter handle, called on the President to release former National Security Adviser, NSA, Col Sambo Dasuki(rtd), leader of the Indigeous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Warimpa Dudafa and former FCT Minister, Bala Mohammed. All accused persons are currently in custody of security agencies over their alleged involvement in corrupt practices and for alleged treason. The tweet reads: “Col Sambo Dasuki has been illegally detained under the most hideous condition for one year, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu for one year, Mr Warimpa Dudafa for eight month and Sen Bala Mohammed for one month. “This is wicked, barbaric, and inhuman. It is a gross violation of their human rights and civil liberties. “None of them have been convicted of any crime and the courts have ordered that each of them be released. “I hereby call on President Muhammadu Buhari to RELEASE them and allow them to go home to their families.” A Member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ben Onyechere in strong terms spoke against the appointment of Mr Femi Fani-Kayode to manage President Jonathan’s perception during the President Campaigns Onyechere on a live program on Channels TV interview, monitored by Omojuwa.com blog, said it was the party’s mistakes that caused them the loss. He went on to say that someone like Fani-Kayode shouldn’t have been appointed as Chairman of President Jonathan’s Media and Publicity campaign team. Mr Onyechere condemned Fani- Kayode’s approaches before the election, stressing that he went too far in attacking and abusing General Muhammadu Buhari, and this cost them a lot. Fani-kayode was using the bad experience he had while in APC to campaign and it damaged a lot and you don’t expect to win such election. The angry Mr. Onyechere further said that even the chairman of the party Adamu Mu’azu should be discharge of his position for losing presidential election in his state. |

Outspoken Former
Nigeria‘s Aviation
Minister, Chief Femi Fani
Kayode has shared his
opinions on the anti-gay
law signed by President
Jonathan.
President Goodluck Jonathan
had signed into law the Bill
which outlaws same sex
marriage that says the gays,
lesbians in Nigeria will risk a
14-year jail term if they do
not retrace their steps and
renounce such marriage.
Hear what FFK said about
Jonathan and his anti-gay
law today on Facebook:
“Boko Haram suicide
bombers have struck again
in Maiduguri today killing
dozens of people. Instead of
fighting the war against
terror GEJ is busy locking up
gays. Shame on him.”
When a fan accused him of
supporting homosexuality,
FFK said:
“I am not gay and I do not
approve of homosexual
behaviour. However I think
it is wrong to send people
to jail based on their sexual
preferences and sexuality. It
is known as persecution of
minority rights and its is
reprehensible.” |
