Not true.

Matter of fact, the reverse is the case.

Problem is that most Nigerian men travel with that mentality that money can get them any girl. But what of when the girls are most time richer and more comfortable than you?

I never believed Wasiu Ayinde could ever apologize. This is highly commendable of him. To err is human, to forgive is divine.

Humility is embedded in repentance
Even the most arrogant man on earth who found himself in such mess and pressure would apologize. Heck Tinubu would have even instructed him to apologize.

That being said, he only apologized to the president, minister, pilot, passengers and to his fans. He never apologized to Nigerians.

I don’t have a problem with that but just to set the record straight.

This is why most presidents fail to see the real situations on the streets.

Their aides feed them filtered information.

If Otedola didn’t have access to the presidency, he would have been unable to make his case and explain the truth on ground.
I don’t like to make excuses for leaders who have well paid and well read assistants.

The slightest “mistake” or lie should warrant a sack to keep others on their toes.

And as for otedolas ordeal then, he partly contributed to it. Just like most Nigerian companies and even government agencies, basic information that should be on their websites is shrouded in secrecy. And when all you do is secrecy, any lie against you or your company can fly.

I don’t think he’s supporting any thief.

He’s just saying that poor remuneration of civil servants including the police is the foundation for corruption in civil service.

Even death penalty can’t stop corruption in civil service so far the pay and retirement benefits cannot take you home.

Nigeria must prosecute these thieves but we should be aware that until workers benefits is looked into, more empty estates from civil servants will keep springing up.

I hope so.

But lake Chad is getting drier. And that’s the major cause of low food production and Fulani herder’s invasion of other lands in recent time.

As much as I detest the practice of Xenophobia, I can never think it’s worse than tribalism or ethnic bigotry.

In xenophobia, citizens don’t want foreigners in their country.

In tribalism, citizens don’t want their fellow citizens in their collective country.

Tribalism is worse and has spilled far more blood in Nigeria than xenophobia has in South Africa.

I don’t think Nigerians have the moral ground to condemn xenophobia and racism.
CelebritiesRe: Seun Kuti Slams Public Celebration Of Buhari’s Death by Nuzo1(m): 8:39pm On Jul 16, 2025
Most people here seem to be off point.

Seun Kuti is simply saying that celebrating natural death of an alleged careless leader or corrupt man is nothing but stupidity and won’t solve the issue of corruption.

He’s saying that the best celebration should have been for him to answer to his sins against the country while he was alive.

He’s not talking about karma of people mocking a dead person here.

Unpaid Bodyguard for western media.

That post goes beyond the immediate topic, and relates to the scandalous misrepresentation of the African reality by western media.

In my over 40 years of watching television I have never seen one decent HOUSE in Africa shown on CNN or BBC.

Or ANY western media.

That is why when you go to the western world and tell people you are from Africa, they automatically assume you came from some dirty village with mud huts or some shanties or slums.

Why?

Because that’s ALL they have ever seen about ‘AFRICA’ on their screens their entire lives.

So whatever quality of research you are referring to matters zero.

Even if it was Nobel Prize worthy scientific research, it will be completely ignored by the western media and establishment.
Bodyguard for western media? Unto Wetin?

I’m just saying that you may have to wait a 100 more years for western media to report anything good about you and black Africa. And if we want to be honest with ourselves; they don’t owe us that.

We barely report any good thing about ourselves here but want western media to do it for you. I ask again, is this particular news a headliner on NTA? Definitely not! So why do you feel it’s an obligation for CNN to do it for you? Haa!

Even the presidency has not made any statement on this but are quick to make statements on irrelevant issues. And you still expect outsiders to carry your matter for head?

Somewhere in Burkina Faso Africa, Traore seem to be changing situation there and using the media to show the world. But same black Africans are the one running malicious campaigns against him.

Again, medical research and findings is not beer parlor deliberations. They work with facts, trials and results. Not some vague pronouncements.

As for how the west portray us as people who live in slums, mud huts and shanties.. I wish they are lying. But they are not.

Over 60% of black Africans live in slums, mud huts and shanties. Them no lie sir.

Just strive to change your situation if you don’t like it.

Excellent development.

Kudos to all the scientists involved in this breakthrough.

Don't expect to see it on CNN or BBC or any western media though.

They don't do ''African scientists achieve important medical breakthrough....''

They do ''Somalians flee from bomb blast...''

Or ''Boko Haram attacks Nigerian army base..''

Or........never mind. You get the drift.
I wish we can always keep emotions aside in certain issues.

Western media doesn’t owe any African any obligation to report our good news. We owe ourselves that.

Now, how many of our local media has reported this development? Even NTA; our state owned tv station has not even made a headline of it. Why then should CNN do it for you?

Why should anyone even report it when the treatment or findings is vague? You think medicine is social studies where you do guess work?
In medicine, your license is the easiest to revoke if you do any how.

A lot of work has to be put in research and development of this project. Then get it standardized before wishing CNN to broadcast it for you.

As much as it doesn’t sound right that our leaders feel so relaxed taking holidays outside Nigeria for a long period of time, I still don’t think his presence in Nigeria will make much difference.

What makes a difference is his strategy and instructions to his lieutenants and how they effectively carry out those instructions.

But it seems there’s a disconnection or no instructions at all.

Reference:
This argument should come from a Chinese citizen. If you are not I cannot see what benefit you gain from losing control of your economic destiny to another nation.

I can admire China for all the strides they have made and blame this country for not becoming like them but when I tell you that China is undermining the economies of a good number of countries then you better believe it.

And for a country like Nigeria (where I live) that is grapling with austerity and a failing extractive industry based economy the signs are not good.

If larger economies with huge indigenous industries around the world have been gutted where is Nigeria going to find jobs for the millions of her citizens going forward.

I repeat again. AS AN EXAMPLE. America or Europe had never made textiles indigenous to Africa to export to Africa but China is doing that, why?
Don’t mind the guy.

Most Nigerians will be first to shout one Nigeria. They also are first to accuse other people as haters of Nigeria. But in deeds, their hatred for Nigeria has no bounds.

We are talking about how the China/nigeria trade imbalance is hurting our economy and some people are here rejoicing that China is about to increase their exports to Nigeria.

What an irredeemable humans we have here.

US is playing checkers while China has been playing chess. The US economy will tank once they run out of Chinese goods. Their infrastructure is already in crisis. I almost feel like Trump is working for Putin.

For Nigeria it’s not enough for us to import we need to encourage them to come and set up factories and apprenticeships here for tech products and AI. So we can be the powerhouse.

All China needs todo is set up the factories of the most lucrative products they sell to US in Nigeria since we don’t have any ban with US.

But our leaders are still rolling on the floor for Europeans while selling us out for peanuts
The Chinese patronage has hurt our economy more than the European patronage.

As hurtful as our trade with Europeans and the USA are, the there’s still little conscience in it. But that if China, it’s totally one sided.

And so, we don’t need them setting up any small factory here. The ones they did, there’s no local content except buying our raw materials for a token. Our people are doing only menial jobs like gateman and security In those factories.

It’s even very painful because these factories are not even Hiteck production. An average uneducated semi skilled Nigerian can manage them perfectly. Problem is funds for startups and enabling environment which for some reasons the government for the past 20 years have refused to provide.
PoliticsRe: China Turns To Nigeria, Other Emerging Economies As US Markets Freeze by Nuzo1(m): 7:08am On Apr 21, 2025
DemonSlayer:
This is risky fa.

We already import more goods from China than from any other country in the world. We import about 9 to 10 times the value of what we export to China. Our trade relationship is lopsided. Which is the exact situation that has exacerbated the recent US-China trade war in the first place, trade deficit—US importing more than it exports to China. With the US market freezing for China and the increased attention Nigeria will continue to receive from China, our own trade deficit with them is likely to grow exponentially now. Their goal would be to close the $500B gap the American market has created, and to do so they'll try to max out their trade with all other partners. Maybe they'll aim to double the $20B they've with us in the next few years, we being a country of 200M people. More industries and businesses that previously had the US as their main market will turn look for alternatives.

Our local industries in the same market are unlikely to be able to compete favorably with their Chinese counterparts due to higher manufacturing costs here. What will happen is that the markets will become even more saturated with Chinese products, outpacing local competition and eventually pushing them out. With that, we return to the age of importing everything from China — including toothpicks and pencils (if we’re not still there already). Factories shut down, people lose jobs, unemployment spikes, followed by all the economic implications that come with it.

Will our government protect us like the US is trying to protect local production? Unlikely. China will offer more loans, which creates more resources for our theifing leadership to steal, so nobody will complain.
Everyone seem to be commenting out of point except you.

Why are Nigerians rejoicing with such news? Is it because they hate USA? More like cutting of the nose to spite the face.

Nigeria cannot afford extra imports and trade imbalance if we must develop.

This news is a VERY bad news for Nigerian growth and existence.

They got a better deal in being one Nigeria with igbos, that better deal is terrorism according to you. But what is it that igbos bring to the table made them want to be with the "parrasitic" igbos?
Yes, they got a better deal and the deal is terrorism that may lingers for a 100 years. Other way round may have been annihilation in less than 30 days.

Be aware that they never envisaged that. Middle belt, especially Plateau was a “garden of Eden” in Nigeria. The weather, social lives, tourism and peaceful coexistence.

But let’s even assume they knew they were going to meet this terror by working against Biafra, it wouldn’t have stopped them from still fighting Biafra.

The common, very simple and realistic reason has been what I’ve been trying to explain from my first comment here: they would have fared worse than they are now. They would have been conquered, converted to whatever and those who refused would be eliminated immediately. For now, they are still alive.

What does the Igbos bring to the table? (I never wanted to make this an Igbo issue but an eastern stuff) Are you being sarcastic here because I don’t have time for that.

Well, to answer your question, everyone knows igbos bring balance to the Nigerian system. Most Igbos I know abhor injustice and so are always quick to speak against one even when they stand to loose everything.

With all these resistance from the Igbos and these guys are being butchered like Christmas chicken, then imagine what it would have been like if the Igbos are not there…. Oga, 2 weeks is more than enough for these guys to be annihilated.

Set sentiment aside and try to understand where I’m coming from.
