CultureIbrahim Dasuki Is Dead by nwabobo(op): 11:10pm On Nov 14, 2016
A former Sultan of Sokoto, Ibrahim Dasuki, has died at the age of 93.

The former Sultan died on Monday and would be buried on Tuesday by 2:00p.m. local time according to Muslim rites.

Cause of death is not yet known.

Dasuki was the 18th Sultan of Sokoto.

He was deposed in 1996 during the military government of Sani Abacha.

Prior to becoming Sultan, he held the traditional title of Baraden Sokoto.

Dasuki was the first Sultan from the Buhari line of the house of Dan Fodio and he was a close associate of Ahmadu Bello, a friend of Abubakar Gumi and was influential in the founding of Jama’atu Nasril Islam.

After the death of Abubakar Siddique, the 17th Sultan of Sokoto on November 1, 1988, Dasuki was among the leading contenders to become the new Sultan.

Some of his opponents included Shehu Malami and future Sultan, Muhammadu Maccido.

Maccido was the son of Abubakar Siddique and he was popular among the populace in Sokoto.

But Mr Dasuki was close to the administration of General Ibrahim Babangida and on December 6, 1988, he was announced as the new Sultan to the dismay of some in Sokoto.

The announcement led to five days of rioting in which 10 people died.

He was considered a modernist against the wishes of some who wanted the traditionalist candidate, Maccido.

As Sultan, Dasuki tried to endear himself to the Sokoto populace.

He built 10 Quaranic schools in 1990 and established an adult literacy class.

Dasuki also tried to unite the Muslim ummah through the reorganization of Jama’atu Nasril Islam and the Nigerian Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs(NSCIA).

He gave impetus to the appointment of Lateef Adegbite, who became the first Yoruba secretary general of NSCIA.

r scent leaf export Anambra gets UK order for scent leaf export ON NOVEMBER 3, 20169:42 AMIN NEWSCOMMENTS By Vincent Ujumadu Awka—AFTER successfully exporting Ugu vegetable to some European countries, which yielded about N5 million British pounds for the state, Anambra State government said, yesterday, that it had received another order from the United Kingdom for scent leaf, popularly called Nchuanwu. To meet the demand for the export, 40 cooperative societies from the three senatorial zones of the state have been empowered to grow the vegetable to be able to meet the order in the next two months. Representatives of the cooperative societies, who were tutored on the processes involved in the cultivation of the vegetable for two days in Awka, were given three water pumps each with suction and discharge facilities, special type of fertilizer and some quantities of the scent leaves. Senior Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on UNDP and Foreign Donors, Mrs. Nneka Onwudiwe, urged the farmers to work hard to meet the terms of the UK order. She said: “Usually we do dry season farming, but because the state is exporting vegetables, we decided to grow Nchuanwu at this time, because we have ready up-takers, who will export the vegetable so that we can meet the demand of those who have placed orders.”

PoliticsRe: Despite Buhari, Niger Delta Leaders Meeting, Militants Blow Up Major Pipeline - by nwabobo(op): 8:42pm On Nov 02, 2016
Damn it! It's the FORCADOS export line just reopened on Monday that these niggas just blew up again.

We are in deep shit.

I repeat, Buhari shouldn't have picked a fight with Tompolo. A wise man chooses his battle and being cautious is not cowardice.
PoliticsDespite Buhari, Niger Delta Leaders Meeting, Militants Blow Up Major Pipeline - by nwabobo(op): 7:58pm On Nov 02, 2016
A day after President Muhammadu Buhari met with leaders of the Niger Delta to resolve the crisis in the region, a major oil pipeline was sabotaged.
No group has, however, claimed responsibility for the explosion at the oil field operated by the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, NPDC, in Delta State.
The attack breached a crude export line that was commissioned on Monday, PREMIUM TIMES learnt. An official said the explosion occurred at the line that transfers stored crude oil to vessels for onward export.
The Joint Military Task Force, JTF, deployed to the Niger Delta confirmed the Wednesday explosion.
Olaolu Daudu, spokesman of the JTF, code-named “Operation Delta Safe’’ said investigations had commenced.
He said troops deployed to the area heard an explosion at the Bantan Flow Station run by NPDC, a subsidiary of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.
“Troops of Operation Delta Safe located at Sector 1, in Delta while on routine patrol heard an explosive sound caused by suspected economic saboteurs at Bantan Flow Station around Ekweregbene, Bantan general area.
“The incident is however, being investigated and details will be made available as events unfold.
“Also, troops of Forward Operation Base, deployed at Bonny in Rivers, while on anti – crude oil theft/ illegal bunkering patrol, discovered two illegal refinery sites along Ogbunku Creek,” he said.
He further said the troops recovered three 40 horse power outboard engines and three pumping machines.
Wednesday’s explosion may further affect Nigeria’s dwindling foreign earnings which have been blamed for the country’s current recession. Sabotage of oil and gas facilities led to an almost 50 per cent reduction of Nigeria’s crude exports and also worsened the electricity situation as gas powered plants could not receive gas.
Wednesday’s explosion also comes barely 24 hours after the Niger Delta stakeholders met with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja.
At the meeting, the Niger Delta leaders presented a 16-point demand to Mr. Buhari. The demands include rapid development of the region and inclusion of people from the region in ownership of oil blocs.
The leaders at the meeting included traditional rulers, governors, ministers and top politicians from the oil producing region.

You see, u come out fuming with all manner of noise, only to expose your ignorance. It is a pity that someone who claims to be educated does not know that money laundering is an offence. For avoidance of doubt, keeping a billion dollars at home IS A FEDERAL OFFENCE! So dont come out to make noise when u have no clue what u are saying ok.

The corrupt judges can name any names they like, they can even claim buhari paid them bribe. But at the end of the day it is mere hearsay without proof. The fact remains they were caught with large sums of money in their custody which they cannot account for. Wen combined with the plethora of petitions against them, even a blind bat can see the handwriting on the wall!
So keeping a billion dollars at home is money laundering? I wonder the kind of education you lots get in that country.

Just to help you so you don't embarrass your self further and possibly in d midst of intellects.

Money laundering is "the crime of moving money that has been obtained illegally through banks and other businesses to make it seem as if the money has been obtained legally"

To educate you further in a manner that would be clear and unambiguous to even an elementary school pupil, the word 'laundering' is the gerund or present participle of the word 'launder' which means to 'wash and iron' ie making something dirty to become clean.

If I decide not to keep my monies in the bank and chose to keep it under my mattress, it's nobody's business and I have not contravened any law.

Be properly guided dude.
