Politics › Re: Troops Intercept A Truck-load Of Already Completed Ballots by nwabobo: 10:45pm On Feb 22, 2019 |
viee: ABUJA (Reuters) - Troops have intercepted a truck-load of already completed ballots the day before Nigeria's presidential election, the opposition said on Friday, heightening fears the vote will be rigged.
The accusation followed widespread abuses and violence in regional elections last week which handed the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) a landslide and prompted opposition parties to declare no confidence in the electoral commission.
"Soldiers in Kaduna have intercepted a truck-load of ballot papers, all already thumb-printed for the PDP ahead of Saturday's elections," said Lai Mohammed of the opposition Action Congress, adding that the ballots were being held at a barracks in the town of Kawo, in northern Kaduna state.
Spokesmen for the military and the electoral commission said they had no information.
The election is intended to mark a big step forward for democracy in Africa's most populous nation, ushering in the first handover from one elected president to another in a country scarred by three decades of military government.
But observers witnessed every form of rigging at the regional poll last Saturday, and said many of the results did not reflect the will of the people.
In a nationwide address on Friday, President Olusegun Obasanjo conceded the first election was flawed, but told aggrieved losers to seek redress through the legal system.
The former military ruler said there was no alternative to democracy, which returned to Nigeria in 1999.
"Let us continue to improve on the structure and the house rather than pull it down because it is leaking in part."
THEY ARE TWO VERSIONS OF THE STORY, HERE IS FROM LOCAL SOURCE:
Soldiers intercept truckload of ballot papers By Segun Olatunji, Kaduna Published: Friday, 20 Apr 2007 The One Division of the Nigerian Army, Kaduna, on Thursday apprehended and detained a trailer alleged to be carrying ballot boxes and other electoral materials for Saturday‘s presidential and National Assembly elections.
Skip to next paragraph File Nigerian Soldiers
The vehicle, with registration number AA765 FKA, and about 20 passengers were still being held as at 8pm at the Army barracks in Kawo, on Zaria-Kaduna Expressway.
Attempts by journalists to move closer to the trailer to ascertain the goods were resisted by heavily armed military personnel detailed to guard it.
Also, efforts to get the comments of the Army authorities on the matter were rebuffed.
One Lt. J. Jang of the division‘s Public Relations Department only said that the matter was still being investigated.
He added that the General Officer Commanding the Division, Maj.-Gen. Lawrence Jokotola, had warned the personnel not to talk to the press on the matter.
However, from a few distance away from the trailer, it could be said that the vehicle was loaded with goods which looked like bags of grains and assorted foodstuffs.
Rumours were rife among the residents in the state capital that the intercepted trailer was conveying ballot papers and other electoral materials allegedly hidden under the bags of grains and foodstuffs.
But the Action Congress, in a statement on Thursday alleged that the seized ballot papers had been thumb-printed for the Peoples Democratic Party.
The party in the statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said, “We have said time and again that the PDP and its so-called leaders are bent on rigging themselves back to power.
“What further evidence does one need to confirm that statement?
“The thumb-printed ballot paper-filled truck that was intercepted in Kaduna is just a tip of the iceberg in the desperate scheming by the Presidency and the PDP, in collusion with INEC and the police, to rig Saturday’s poll as they willfully manipulated the state legislative and governorship elections.
“We have no confidence in the police or INEC to investigate and get to the bottom of the strange discovery in Kaduna, hence we will set in motion our own investigations and inform Nigerians accordingly.
“We have also set in motion our own machinery to expose the evil machination of the PDP, where such rears its head, before, during and after the forthcoming poll.”
Speaking on the allegation in Abuja on Thursday, INEC‘s National Commissioner in charge of Operations, Dr. Mohammed Jumare, said, “I am not aware of an incident like that. There is none of our trucks that left Abuja today for Kaduna or any part of the country for that matter. All our materials are already in the states.
”Today is Thursday. The materials will only leave for the local government areas on Friday. The claim that our truck was intercepted is a fabrication. The AC is only trying to create the impression that something is fishy in INEC.”
I HOPE WILL DO THIS ELECTION WITHOUT FURTHER VIOLENCE AND LOSS OF LIFE! |

Business › Re: The Story Behind Coscharis – The Auto Business Mogul by nwabobo: 10:16am On Feb 06, 2019 |
AutoJoshNG: https://i2.wp.com/autojosh.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/coscharis-story-business-mogul.jpg?resize=576%2C382&ssl=1
Whenever you hear the business name ‘Coscharis‘, an automobile giant in Nigeria comes to your mind.
The brain behind Coscharis is Cosmas Maduabuchukwu Maduka. He’s the founder of the famous Coscharis motors we all know today. The company is currently known to be one of the most successful auto parts lease company and major distributor of several brands of luxurious cars.
Let’s sit back, relax and read about how the automobile mogul, Cosmas maduabuchukwu Maduka, started from the scratch to the level he is positioned today.
It all started when this Nnewi-born Cosmas Maduabuchukwu Maduka was just seven years old. The beginning was a very tough one for him; he didn’t get to where he is on a platter of gold.
At the age of four, Cosmas lost his dad which led him to hawking bean cake (akara) in a bid to survive the hardship. As time passed, life became harder for the mother to take care of Cosmas and the other three children of hers. She resolved to withdraw Cosmas from elementary three and then sent him to his maternal uncle in Lagos as an apprentice. He worked with no contractual agreement with his uncle.
His uncle who lived at Ebutte-Metta took Cosmas along with him to work. People around even questioned if the little Cosmas could keep up with learning at such age. He even had to spend his night inside the shop while his uncle went home with the keys. His uncle didn’t have a house of his own then so he stayed with his friend.
At the young age of nine, Cosmas mastered his craft and was seen doing what elderly people were doing. He could then single-handedly travel all the way from Lagos down to Nnewi to make some purchases for his boss. He kept to this pace up till the age of 14 when he was sent to work in some of their branches like Sokoto.
At that age of 14, Cosmas had an issue with his uncle that led to his uncle giving him a N200 to go and find his way. This was a way of punishing him by his uncle. He told his uncle he didn’t deserve such treatment from him but his uncle hardened his heart. He outrightly told his uncle to give him five years and he would be amazed with what will come out of it.
He thereafter set up a company – Maduka Brothers – with his brother for selling spare parts. They later parted ways due to ideological differences and his capital after dissolving the business then was N300.
With this N300, Cosmas started his own business. He bought goods from Lagos and sold them off in Nnewi. His first breakthrough was when he went to Boulous Enterprise to purchase motorcycle spare parts. He stumbles upon a new innovation – motorcycle crash ban – and he bought several of them. He played smart; he removed the address of Boulous from the carton so that people won’t be able to trace the source of his merchandise. It was a swift sale for him; everything was sold that day. This led him to taking a night bus back to Lagos to get more goods. He embarked on this business travel up to four times in a week. It was a boom for him; his capital rose from N300 to N3000.
Cosmas got married at an early age of 19 and he took to the path of importation afterwards with the capital he had. He was face with a very big challenge when he received a wrong consignment. This was a very big problem for him and it ended up landing him in debt. He owed his landlord for months, his shop was locked. Cosmas didn’t just give up, he continued striving, and He believed there was a very bright light at the end of the tunnel.
He believed in dignity in labour which made him start all over again after incurring such loss. He used the scale he got as a wedding gift to make money. How did he do that?
He took the scale to the market and charged everyone that climbed on it 10kobo. He used this scale to build up another business capital. He made a lemonade out of the lemon life threw at him.
When he gathered enough money from his scale business, Cosmas teamed up with one of his friends called David to set up a company they named CosDave. Just like he did with his brother, he parted ways with Dave due to ideological differences and then formed Coscharis.
Coscharis was coined from his name and the name of his wife, Charity. Coscharis is a combination of words.
As a channel to the breakthrough of Coscharis in 1982, Nigerian government granted import licenses to up to ten motor companies of which Coscharis was among. Coscharis continued to expand from that very day up till this day; they now have several subsidiaries.
In 1987, Coscharis ultramodern complex was commissioned at Victoria Island. Coscharis state of art ultramodern sales and showroom in Maza maza, Lagos, was also commissioned by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar In 2000. He was then the Vice President of Nigeria.
Coscharis secured in 2015 the right of being the sole distributor of the BMW car brand in Nigeria. It is also the first company in Nigerian to build an assembly plant for Ford Ranger.
Cosmas is gifted with five children of whom his eldest son is 32 years old.
https://autojosh.com/story-coscharis-auto-business-mogul/ COSCHARIS has been the sole distributor of BMW in Nigeria for more than 2 decades now. |

I think the southwest will still determine the winner of Feb 16 presidential elections. During the last election, Southwest votes contributed immensely to Buhari's victory. Politics › EXPOSED: Nnamdi Kanu's Deal With Buhari - Medium by nwabobo(op): 4:56pm On Feb 04, 2019 |
On 12 October, 2018, the newly emerged PDP contender for the Presidency of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, picked a former governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi, to be his running mate in the 2019 general elections. Exactly a week after Peter Obi was picked, the infamous separatist, Nnamdi Kanu, resurfaced, having been missing for over a year up to that point. The timing of Mr. Kanu’s reappearance was very convenient for some… Not long after his reappearance, Kanu returned to his mic, to resume what made him infamous in the first place — spilling a lot of bile. His most recent exercise, has been to schedule a “referendum on Biafra” on 16 February, the same day as the Presidential Elections, and that, dear reader, is where the cat waltzed out of the bag. A referendum, is a direct vote on a single issue. So, in this case, the question on the ballot for Igbos would be — “Should Igbo land opt out of Nigeria and form a sovereign country called Biafra?” For me, the answer is no. I suspect that it’s mostly no for the large Igbo diaspora within Nigeria. For those outside of Nigeria, well, it largely depends on their station in life. Be that as it may, let us go back Mr. Kanu and his call. The last referendum held in the area around what is now Nigeria, was in 1961. The call for that particular referendum started in 1953 after Zik displaced Eyo Ita in the Eastern Nigerian Parliament made the Eastern minorities unhappy. Emmanuel Endeley, the leader of the Southern Cameroons at the time, wanted to remain with Nigeria, but when he lost to John Foncha in 1959, Foncha asked the UN to organise a referendum on whether Southern Cameroons would join Cameroon, or remain with Nigeria. Independence was not one of the options. What is the point of this story — a referendum, or plebiscite, is not, and has never been, in all of human history, something that a “Supreme Leader” just declares three weeks to date. It takes a lot of planning, help, and a lot of multilateral support. Is there any evidence of all this? The answer is a big, fat, no, and this brings us to Mr. Kanu’s interest in this matter… In my line of work, one thing I’ve learned about my country is that in Nigeria, any conspiracy theory you hear, is worth examining. The day after Kanu resurfaced, I was told by someone who should know that he’d been in custody, and had been released following the emergence of Peter Obi. Chap further claimed that Kanu’s parents are still in custody, to ensure that he behaves himself. He went on to say a lot of other stuff that even now, I still find incredible, not least because I do not believe that our security services are competent enough to pull off those kinds of operations. However, it strikes me that as of this moment, Nnamdi Kanu’s parents are still missing, and he has not said a thing about them in any of his broadcasts, but he spoke about his dog in one. It also strikes me that there is a convergence of interests here — as I have written before, Nnamdi Kanu was given a massive boost by the Buhari government following their bad handling of his return to Nigeria. He would have remained in a fringe figure shouting into his mic had they not arrested him some years ago. It is in his interest that Buhari remains in office. It gives him a lightning rod with which to generate relevance, and that relevance helps him commercially. Does it not strike you as strange that a man on trial for treason has resurfaced in other countries, and yet our government has not bothered to request his extradition (even if it is denied?). Convergence of interests. On the one hand, the chap who needs this government in order to remain relevant. On the other hand, a government who needs this chap in order to ensure voter apathy in a region they are sure to lose. Yours sincerely, Chxta from Okokomaiko https://medium.com/@chxta/conspiracy-theories-51d56ad777ec |
Politics › Re: CCB Act That Indicts The Suspended CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen by nwabobo: 10:47am On Feb 02, 2019 |
kahal29: Some have argued that section 3 (d) of the code of conduct bureau and Tribunal act exonerate the suspended CJN Justice Walter Onnoghen from his present trial however going by his statement to the CCB it could be clearly seen that section 6 (b) of the same act indicts him assuming without conceding that he is exonerated by section 3 of the act.
According to section 6 of the CCB ACT...
Restrictions on specified officers:
Without prejudice to the generality of section 5 of this Act, A PUBLIC OFFICER SHALL NOT
(a) Receive or be paid the emoluments of any public office at the same time as he receives or is paid the emoluments of any other public office; or
(b) Except where he is not employed on full-time basis, engage or participate in the management or running of any private business, profession or trade; but nothing in this paragraph shall prevent a public officer from engaging in farming or participating in the management or running of any farm.
http://lawnigeria.com/LawsoftheFederation/CODE-OF-CONDUCT-BUREAU-AND-TRIBUNAL-ACT.html
Now according to Justice Walter Onnoghen's response statement to the CCB he said and I quote
https://www.nairaland.com/4995693/onnoghens-response-code-conduct-bureau
Therefore, going by Justice Onnoghen own admission of engaging in other businesses such Forex trading, AGRICODE (what ever that means) and investments which is prohibited by section 6(b) of the act i think it would be easier for the camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for CCT to free Justice Onnoghen at the end of his trial.
Finally, could be the realisation of this very fact that his legion of SAN'S are now looking for a soft landing for him as reported in the Punch Newspaper of Today? Could it also be the reason why the CCT Chairman, Justice Danladi is not bothered about his earlier rulings? Do you have a problem with comprehension? Participate in the RUNNING or MANAGEMENT..... What is so difficult there for you to comprehend? Did he say he was running or managing any of those companies? |
