Nigerian Instagram comedian Sydney Talker has shared the result of his coronavirus test.
However, the entertainer who tested negative to the novel virus is facing a backlash as he has been accused of playing a prank on the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

Sydney refuted this claim saying the NCDC did not reach out to him and he just wants to be tested because his symptoms are getting worse.

Talker upon getting his test results back went mute and it took urging for him to share on Twitter that his test result came out negative.

When he shared, he captioned it:

“My Test Results just got in from Lagos State Ministry of Health and thankfully it is NEGATIVE.

To those who felt this was a PRANK or CLOUT CHASING, I have just one question ” Why would I chase clout at the expense of my life ? ”

To everyone who prayed for me in my weakest moment and for quick recovery,I pray that on the day you are in distress may you also find help and recieve prayers IJN Amen

Many are of the opinion that the comedian tricked health workers into testing him and should apologise rather than make excuses.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has faulted the appointment of a former Vice Chancellor of Kwara State University (KWASU), Prof Abdulrasheed Na’allah, as Vice Chancellor of University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The union said appointing Na’allah, who was allegedly indicted by a visitation panel, would make a mockery of the government’s fight against corruption.

Ahmed Lawan made his dissatisfaction known when he hosted Mr. Bobby Moroe, South African High Commissioner to Nigeria, while also asserting that the country would no longer condone the incessant killings of its citizens.

Moore visited Lawan to brief the Senate on the ongoing investigation to unravel and end xenophobic attacks on Nigerians by South Africans.

Most recent is the killing of Mrs. Elizabeth Chukwu. Late Chukwu was killed in her hotel room in South Africa when she went for a conference of the African Insurance Organisation (AIO).

Records show that about 118 Nigerians had so far lost their lives in different attacks over the years, out of which 13 Nigerians were killed by the South African police.

The senate president in a statement by Mohammed Isa, his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, stated that if the South African government failed to address these killings, it could degenerate into massive violence.

He said, “We in the parliament must speak and prevent any further killings. These killings must stop.

“This is the era of social media where the corpse of a victim may spark violence that may go beyond the control of the government.

“The South African government must as a matter of urgency do whatever it takes to protect the lives and property of Nigerians living there, just as Nigerian government remain committed to the safety of South Africans residing here and their investments.

“I believe we have faced enough. We will no longer take it anymore. We want to write the names of Nigerians killed, and the South African parliament must act fast to put a stop to this menace.

“Over the years, 118 Nigerians have been killed, while 13 out of these were killed by South African Police.”

“We must establish events leading into these killings, including the recent one of Mrs.Elizabeth Chukwu, who was killed in her hotel room.”

Lawan urged the South African government to ensure that lives and properties of Nigerians are safe while reminding the country of the enormous contributions of Nigeria to South Africa during the apartheid rule.

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo group has urged its members residing outside the south-east to defend themselves, following the ultimatum given to governors by some northern groups angered by their refusal to implement the Ruga settlement initiative for herdsmen.

In a statement issued by its president general, John Nnia Nwodo on Thursday, July 4, the apex Igbo group called on Ndigbo to be ready to defend themselves wherever they are, The Nation reports.

gathers that the statement read: “My attention has been drawn to a broadcast by Abdul Azeez Suleman, speaking for a Coalition of Northern Groups in which he had the audacity to give the federal government an ultimatum of 30 days to rescind its decision on the suspension of its Ruga settlements policy.

“Abdul went further to threaten the expulsion of southerners resident in the North at the expiration of his dateline if the federal government does not rescind its suspension decision.

“This irresponsible, unlawful and provocative outburst reminds me of the quit notice from northern youths two years ago.

“Ohanaeze insists that the Ruga policy is an Islamisation and Fulanisation policy. It is a violation of our constitution and Supreme Court decisions on the Land Use Act. Its suspension without cancellation leaves the federal government still in violation of our laws.

“The threat to evict law abiding Nigerians from their places of abode in Northern Nigeria is treasonable and obviously like the gun trotting herdsmen will go unnoticed by our federally-controlled law enforcement agencies.

“Let Abdul, the federal government and others like them take notice that Ohanaeze has no objections to all Igbo in the North returning home so long as all northerners in the East leave the East and we dismantle the federal structure imposed on us by the military and return to autonomous federating units.

“The nepotism exhibited by this federal government, her duplicity of standards in law enforcement, her undisguised Fulanisation policy is repugnant to rule of law and good governance. We will no longer tolerate any further threats from these northern war mongers.

“After all, who should be the aggrieved under the circumstance? The millipede that has been marched is whimpering, but the person that marched it is complaining that his foot has been soiled.

“The South that is bearing the yoke of oppression from cattle herders are trying their best to co-exist with their aggressors, yet it is the aggressors that are threatening further mayhem. This cannot be. I call on all Igbo to be ready to defend themselves; enough of these threats!”

Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, the spokesman of the groups, said that varying positions of governors on the policy had brought about much dissatisfaction among herdsmen in the country.

Suleiman said: “While we warn all state governments that stand against the implementation of the RUGA Initiative to desist and give peace a chance, we place President Buhari and the federal government on notice that they must completely stop this raging madness within 30-days beginning from today, Wednesday."

The Chairman of the National Food Security/Herders/Farmers Conflict, Governor Dave Umahi, briefing State House correspondents at the end of a meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, stated that the suspension “is owing to lack of consistency with the NEC and FG approved national livestock transformation plan, which has programme of rehabilitation of internally displaced persons (IDPs) resulting from the crisis and development of ranching in any willing state.

The governor added that “the NEC says it is not compulsory and any state willing is required to put up a development plan towards the implementation in line with the NEC program based on the challenges inherent there.”

Those at the meeting were governors of Ebonyi, Dave Umahi, Plateau, Simon Lalong, Kebbi, Atiku Bagudu and Adamawa Deputy Governor, Bala Ngilari.

The National Livestock Transformation Plan approved by state governors under the auspices of the National Economic Council (NEC) is chaired by the Vice President.

The NEC had on January 17 approved the plan based on the recommendations of a Technical Committee of the Council chaired by the Governor of Ebonyi State.

Other state governors on the committee and Working Group of the NEC are those od Adamawa, Kaduna, Benue, Taraba, Edo, Plateau, Oyo and Zamfara – mostly frontline states in the Farmer-Herder crises.

Medical experts have therefore warned against eating some foods or snacks that can cause cancer or increase the risk of getting it.

1. Grilled red meat



Doctors and other experts often advise that we limit the amount of red meat we take. Reducing our intake of fatty red meat to a few servings in a week will significantly reduce your risk of getting cancer.



According to them, foods that have been cooked at high temperatures produce acrylamide which is a known carcinogen. Meat that’s been prepared on the grill also takes unhealthy stuff from either the grill or the wood. It is therefore worth reducing your intake of meat and choosing organic foods instead. Just don’t overcook the organic foods.



2. Soft drinks



Soft drinks are high in sugar in fructose corn syrup form, which is the most challenging form for your body to handle. Just a single can has a full day’s worth of sugar. It makes your blood sugar rise significantly but doesn’t leave you feeling full.



If a good drink is what you want, choose sparkling water instead, with a splash of fruit juice.



3. Canned foods especially tomatoes



The thing with canned foods is that they contain a lot of added salt, while fruits are canned in sugar syrup. This in addition to the fact that the cans have a chemical lining makes things worse.



The chemical is called BPA which leaches into the food that comes into some kind of contact with it. BPA is a hormone disrupter which has also been linked to cancer.



Instead of going for canned foods, it’s better to eat fresh produce or look for cans that do not contain so much sodium or those labeled BPA free.

Over 48,000 Nigerians on social media have voted President Muhammadu Buhari as the worst president Nigeria has ever had since the return to democracy in 1999.





SaharaReporters had organized online polls on Facebook and Twitter asking Nigerians on the social media to select their worst president the country has ever had.



Twitter had the three ex-presidents that had ruled the country; Olusegun Obasanjo, Umaru Musa Yar’adua and Goodluck Jonathan along with the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari.



On Facebook, the poll had only Olusegun Obasanjo and Muhammadu Buhari.



The poll had a total of 28,000 votes on Twitter and 49,000 votes on Facebook. The two polls unilaterally produced President Buhari as the winner with a wide margin between him and next person on the poll.

Of the 49,000 votes on SaharaReporters' Facebook poll, President Buhari had the highest number of votes as the worst president the country has ever produced since the advent of democracy in 1999 with 29,000 votes.



On the other hand, ex-president Obasanjo had a total vote of 20,000.

I came home last year for vacation, I spend two week and I'm in haste to go back to another man's land where I found peace of mind.”



Iyke Eze stated, “The difference is very clear, never you compare a failure to OBJ.”



John Goodluck said, “Buhari is the worst president that ever happened to Nigeria, he is a cow that keeps on blaming his parents for his failure in life.”

The Federal Government originally planned to have the controversial Ruga settlements in every part of the country and not only in 11 states.
But the Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum and Ekiti Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, said the Ruga initiative had been blown out of proportion.

The Nigerian athlete Divine Oduduru has won his first NCAA 100m title clocking 9.86 seconds to become second African runner to achieve this feat.

Oduduru’s 9.86 second was the second-fastest time in NCAA history.

He is now the second Nigerian after Olopade Adeniken in 1992 and third African after Namibia’s Frankie Frederick in 1991 to successfully complete a sprint double at the NCAA Division 1 Championship on Friday.
