Politics › Re: 2019: Why Atiku Is Our Preferred Choice - Igbo Youths by nwatthu(m): 10:37am On Dec 20, 2017 |
I STAND WITH ATIKU agwom: Some group of youths in the south eastern part of the country have drummed support for the presidential ambition of former Nigeria's vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. The group, under the aegis of South Eastern Youth Movement for Atiku Abubakar, described the former vice president as a tested hand which distinguished him during his reign as vice president. Speaking in Awka after its inaugural meeting, the group's Coordinator, Maxwell Umeaba said the group had resolved to support the former Vice President to realise his presidential ambition with its stronghold in the five states of the South East.
"We have resolved to come together to take our destiny into our hands. We have raised army of voters in all the states in the South East.
"Atiku is a tested hand, whose works during his reign as vice president distinguished him. As a good business man who has overseen several successful businesses, Nigeria would be in safe hands if he is elected," he said.
Describing Atiku's defection to PDP as a welcome development towards reshaping the country, Umeaba stressed that Nigerian youths believe in him and would strongly support him.
He regretted that the present administration under the APC had relegated the youths and denied them of inclusiveness in governance.

its practically impossible for Buhari to win a re-election., and certain that these 3 zones wil neva vote for him..SE,SS, and NC, he can share SW and NE with Atiku, now tell me, how Buhari can do this?you guys have forgoten that there is HUNGER, real HUNger in the land Activeman391: With the dates already set in 2019 for the elections and with 2/3 of the current administration’s tenure all but used up, we are in a position to gauge the possible re-election chances of the APC federal government and the possible chances of a PDP candidate.
The most recent NOIpolls (which can be viewed on www.noi-polls.com ) as of the time of writing is quite informative. Buhari’s strongest area of strength is in the North East zone. 80% of people there either approve of or strongly approve of Buhari’s performance thus far. Only 10% of people either disapprove or strongly disapprove of Buhari’s performance and only 10% are on the fence as they neither approve nor disapprove of his performance. This is bad news for Atiku as he appears very unlikely to be able to move significant support from his home zone as they appear locked in for Buhari. American pollsters tend to state that most of those on the fence tend to break for the challenger or they fail to turn up at all depending on the candidate put up by the opposition. The most Atiku (or anyone else from the NE) can obtain from the NE would therefore be about 18%. The North West is the second most entrenched supporting zone for Buhari. 75% of people in Nigeria’s most populous zone is locked in for Buhari (as they either approve or strongly approve of Buhari’s performance). Only 7% are on the fence and 18% of people either disapprove or strongly disapprove of Buhari’s performance. 25% support being the maximum support obtainable from the NW. A candidate from the NW would probably be a most unwise choice for the PDP.
North Central is Buhari’s third most electorally strong zone and the third strongest area of entrenched opposition to a Buhari presidency. 46% of people either support or strongly support Buhari’s government. However, 43% however strongly oppose or oppose Buhari’s government. 11% of people in the North Central are on the fence. They may either vote for PDP or not vote at all depending on the candidate PDP puts up. In my view, this is the most viable zone from where to select a presidential candidate for the PDP (if PDP is going to choose a candidate from the North).
The SW is the area of strongest support for Buhari in the South. 37% of people approve or strongly approve of Buhari’s performance. However 38% disapproves or strongly disapproves. Importantly, 25% of people of the SW have no opinion either way. This is a very tricky position for Buhari here and his performance in 2019 will depend on how much PDP will be perceived to be an anti Yoruba party as well as the candidate (and his /her vice candidate) selected by the PDP as a competitor to Buhari.
SE is a most interesting zone. 19% of people have positive support for Buhari. 46% have entrenched opposition to Buhari with 35% on the fence. With APGA likely to present a presidential candidate in 2019 and with 35% of people in that zone on the fence when it comes to perception of Buhari’s performance, it is unclear whether a VP choice by the PDP will be enough to swing support to the PDP as opposed to a candidate of igbo origin from APGA. APGA provides a serious headache to the PDP (especially if the PDP chooses a Northern presidential candidate and even if the PDP selects an igbo as such persons vice presidential candidate) and the most likely source of comfort for a Buhari presidency.
The SS zone has the largest entrenched opposition to Buhari at 49%. 26% however have locked in support for Buhari. 25% are therefore undecided. In the absence of party specific to the SS competing with the PDP for the undecided 25% of the vote, it appears entirely logical for the PDP to select a person from the SS as its VP candidate that would help it lock in the 25% of people that have neither a positive or negative view of Buhari’s performance 2/3 into Buhari’s first term.
With the SE and SW having very high undecided voters, PDP will be in a very tricky situation. PDP has to contend with a very strong APGA party that is unlikely to sit things out as it did for GEJ in 2019. If APGA chooses an Igbo person as its main candidate for the presidency then chances are that the PDP will be competing with APGA for 81% of the vote of the zone that combines those on the fence and those that oppose or strongly oppose Buhari. The SW will also be tricky. It has a VP on the current ticket yet it has 25% of its people neither positively or negatively disposed to Buhari. The issue then is whether that 25% will be converted to positive support for a Northern PDP candidate that does not have a SW PDP vice presidential candidate.
Buhari is a weakened candidate from all accounts. He has not added to his core areas of electoral strength from 2015. However, he is likely to be aided by APGA’s intention to select a presidential candidate of igbo extraction and the possibility that a VP choice from either of the zones of the south is likely to depress participation from the large body of fence warmers from the non selected zones of the south.

fake news..PDP id strong..na APC dey plant dis kinda news oh..God is with PDP Ecstasy154: By Chibuzo Ukaibe, Abuja
Barely one week after its national elective convention, fresh crisis is brewing in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the outcome of last Saturday’s election.
Not satisfied with the election of the party’s national executive, some aggrieved candidates and stakeholders have threatened to form a parallel National Working Committee (NWC).
Despite ongoing post conventions reconciliation process, the aggrieved candidates, who rejected the results arising from the election at the national convention, are demanding the immediate release of what they called the authentic results of the actual votes cast by delegates at the convention.
They called on the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) to ensure the immediate execution of the demands by convening an emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting within seven days from December 12, 2019.
They further threatened to announce the correct results from the convention and inaugurate what they called the authentic NWC of the party should the BoT fail to attend to their demands.
This is contained in a statement signed by the candidates and stakeholders namely Prince Obi-Nwosu Emmanuel, Hassan Adamu, Chief Dr Godwin Chinedu Duru, Comrade Edede Franklyn Maduabuchi and Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar.
Two, out of the five signatories of the statement, Chief Godwin Chinedu Duru and Comrade Edede Franklyn Maduabuchi contested for the positions of national organising secretary and national youth leader respectively at the convention.
Already, the post-convention reconciliation committee of the party, led by Bayelsa State governor, Hon Seriake Dickson, has started meeting the aggrieved candidates.
The committee has so far met some of the chairmanship aspirants, including former Minister of Education, Prof Tunde Adeniran; former deputy national chairman, Chief Bode George, among others.
The statement by the aggrieved candidates, which was made available to LEADERSHIP yesterday noted: “Sequel to the 9th December Elective National Convention held at Eagles Square, Abuja: “1) We the concerned candidates and stakeholders hereby reject in totality the results released at the 9th December 2017 National Elective Convention instead of the true results.
“2.) We therefore demand the immediate recall of the purported results and the release with immediate effect the authentic results of the actual votes cast by delegates at the convention.
“3.We hereby call on the chairman of the BOT to ensure the immediate execution of this demand by convening an emergency NEC meeting within 7 days from the date of this notice.
“4. Failure to address item 2 and 3 above, we would have no option but to announce the correct results and inaugurate the authentic National Working Committee of our great party, the PDP.”
Metuh Pleads With Aggrieved Aspirants To Support Secondus
Meanwhile, former national publicity secretary of the PDP, Olisa Metuh, said yesterday that the outcome of the party’s national convention has repositioned it to take over power in 2019.
In a statement he personally signed, Metuh urged aggrieved aspirants to join hands with the new party leadership headed by Prince Uche Secondus in providing “a credible opposition that will continuously provide alternatives and options to the policies and programmes of the ruling party.”
The former party spokesman described Secondus as “a tried and tested hand and proven party administrator with exceptional institutional memory to handle the affairs of the party.
“It is incontrovertible that the activities leading to the PDP elective National Convention and the outcome thereof have left no one in doubt that the party has been repositioned to take over power in 2019”, he added.
While underscoring Secondus’ competence for the job, Metuh said, “It is instructive to note that nobody, not even the worst of critics, has questioned Prince Secondus’ competence and capacity to lead the party at this critical time.
“This is essentially owing to the well-established fact that the PDP witnessed one of her best moments under Prince Secondus as Acting National Chairman, during which time a lot of reforms were articulated and implemented.
“It is in that regard that I join our party leaders and other notable stakeholders to congratulate our National Chairman whose victory derived not only from his track record of proven service to our party but also from his very robust and issue-based campaign across all the states and zones of the federation.
“To other aspirants who did not have the opportunity of being elected, it must be understood that the outcome of the election does not in anyway detract from their credibility and their qualification for offices. What is needed now is for them to join hands with the new leadership to reposition the PDP for the task ahead.”

Politics › Re: PDP Receives APC Defectors In Taraba by nwatthu(m): 4:43pm On Dec 07, 2017 |
I STAND WITH ATIKU Beress: The Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) suffered a major setback, as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received no fewer than 7000 members of the APC who defected to the PDP in Gassol Local Council.
Several members of the APC from Kurmi Local Council, led by the former speaker of the state House of Assembly, Simeon Inusa Dogari, had earlier left the APC for PDP.
Receiving the defected members at Mutum Biyu, headquarters of the council, the state chairman of the PDP, Victor Bala Kona said their coming back to the PDP marks the death of APC in the council and the state at large.
Kona encouraged the people to continue to support PDP saying, “There is no alternative to the party in the state. The PDP is well positioned to recapture power at the national level.”
Deputy Governor, Haruna Manu, lauded the defectors for the honour done to him by returning to the PDP assuring them that they would not have any cause to leave the party again.
He told them that as the representative of the council and as deputy governor, he has been protecting their interests, effectively hence the need for all members of the council still in the opposition party to join hands with the PDP to move the state higher.
He admonished the people, particularly the party faithful to continue to support the Governor Dahiru Ishaku administration as that according to him would pave way for the much more developed.
The defected members, led by Isa Mohammed Tobi and Musulimu Audu Harisu, said the development in the state under Governor Dahiru left them with no other option than to leave the APC for the PDP.
