Family / Re: Anyone Here Knows The Ifediora Family Of Umudioka? by Nwokenna: 10:07pm On Oct 09, 2016
AjaanaOka:
All I had wanted to say has been said. It is likely he is from Umudioka Town in Dunukofia LGA, and not from Umudioka Village in Awka. If he was from Awka, that's what his father would have told him -Awka. Folks who grew away from home usually learn the names of their towns before learning about the individual villages they originate from, within the towns.

Anyway, I have already asked family members to make enquiries about any Ifedioras they know about from Umudioka-Awka. I haven't heard back, but I am already feeling the results will be negative. Never heard of Ifediora as a family name in Umudioka-Awka, and i have close kin links with that village.

Facebook groups, as has been suggested, could be of great help.

At the highlighted, you can't be too sure. I went to a primary school in Awka (Infant Jesus in St Patrick's Cathedral). I had a classmate who goes by the name Ifediora. A prominent family at that.

All you silent readers!!! God is watching y'all lol.

Congrats bro!

How long did it take? When did you lodge?

UbKtech ...and all those in Aus for long....abeg....when employer say dem go do police checks....we wey no get police history for Aus nko? Hope it doesn't matter if tou have not been here for long?

Too easy mate. Regardless of the length of stay you can apply and get police clearance certificate. However, prospective employers can also do it for you if they really want to employ you but some use it as a ruse to decline you the job (even Without getting the said clearance from police) just say it's a new way of saying unfortunately we cannot offer you the job at the moment. My advice, if you want to get a job that requires police clearance, get it done yourself and take the certificate to prospective employers.

Any suggestion on sim-card only prepaid plans?

Also how long did it take you to get a job, and any tips on getting a job?

Regards!

You have already got a sound reply on sim card. However, on jobs what works for someone might not work for you. Location matters a lot. I bet Townsville is a country side and as such you will get 'country side' payrate however, spreading your tent to retrain in jobs needed at the moment in your area will land you a job quicker than you think.

You mean get a prepaid line instead...something like our regular GSM here in Naija.

What if aomeone wants to get a phone? Except you have a huge chunk of money to outrightly purchase a new phone...

When you land, buy a sim card recharge and use. getting on a plan for 12 -24 months (depending) on a brand new phone from any of the providers is quite not a good idea for 'new' migrants without a constant source of income is not a good idea. As for credit card I have this to say, the banks don't issue you a card for you to pay it off quickly. Cos in essence, they don't make much money on interest. Just an advice for new migrant.

How to have a good credit file/credit history/credit score

Always pay your bills on time. Don't default. A default above AU$100 will be recorded, and stays on your file for years (5yrs or so). Some defaults below AU$100 can also be recorded,, e.g phone contract defaults.

Always pay up your credit card bills (if you own one). If you can't pay up the full bill, at leadt pay the minimum repayment as agreed with the bank. Not paying up your credit card bills is a sure way to a terrible credit history.

Don't apply for too many credit cards from different banks, even if you qualify for all of them, and don't make too many subsequent applications if you are denied...cos it will only start a chain link of denials. Why? Each crefit card application goes through a credit file check, and each file check is noted on your file. If you apply for too many cards, or in quick succession, the inquiry is noted on your credit file, and it might appear as you requesting for too much credit from different avenues....and each bank that inquires will wonder why you were denied by the preceeding bank(s), and might want to follow suit. Even if you were approved by the first applicatiob, and want to apply for another card from a different bank.....the inquiry checks on your credit file do not show if you were approved or denied...and most banks will just take it as a denial.

Another good tip. My second 2cents do not apply for credit card, if you don't have the money save for it. Credit card is a menace. Many whites are living a false life without a cent to their name because they are owing the banks in car loan, in mortgage, in personal loans etc. Do not get entangled in the Web of available free credit cards which will bury you in a sink hole of debt.

How to establish a credit history/credit file

You can get a phone contract with your debit card (Optis is currently given 3gb and unlimited local calls and sms plus data sharing plus an S5 for AU$80 per month for 2 years). Once you sign up for a contract, a credit file is automatically opened.

Also, paying your utilities, e.g electricity, gas, also opens a credit file for you.

Good tips my one cent do not I repeat do not use Optus. Very expensive if you are a new migrant and not working and earning 'better' money. Do not sign up for any deal with any network of you are a fledgling migrant. Recharge and use, recharge and call, recharge and browse when you have money.

gratiaeo:
“The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, has said that the Boko Haram sect has no doctrine that resembles that of true Muslims”.

Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar is a liar and deceptive.

Boko-Haram are here to fulfill Allah’s commandments through the implementation of Sharia which Buhari had called for.

It is obligatory for a Muslim to lie if the purpose is obligatory. That means a Muslim is obliged to lie if it is for the purpose of fulfilling Allah’s commandments, such as jihad and implementation of Sharia .

No guilt or shame should be associated with this kind of lying, which has become an instinctive defensive mechanism among Muslim to protect Islam.

Vote against the implementation of Sharia.

Classic that's all I can say about your response. It's worth RT

Hello,

Did anyone here use NIPOST registered mail to send docs to vetassess or australia in general from his or her Uni in Nigeria?

How long did it take to deliver?

I arrived Australia 31st December last year.I parcelled a document October last year before arriving via Nipost and it arrived around January this year. My brother Nipost was full of nerve racking incompetency. Never use it to save money use DHL or FedEx. At a point I thought the documents has been lost.

Planning to fly emirates and booking through wakanow today or tomorow. Any info about wakanow before i proceed.

Wakanow is affordable and cheap. More like booking for the flights directly.

I have already selected it but I don't know if it is ok cos I can still change. Just drop your own view... Thanks in advance.

Congrats! Meanwhile, did you check your arrival time with Emirates cos most of there arrival time especially for December flights are around 12am to 3am (very early hours) so I'll be opting for Etihad instead.

My People, make una no vex eh. Am apologising on behalf of those that 'ran away' after recieving there Visa. The truth is that for most of us the goal is PR while for others the goal is to study and come back to 9ja. Whatever be you goal stick to it and God or whatever you believe in will crown your effort with success.

I feel a little compelled to speak to @american Visa geting a Visa to wherever is nothing but just the beginning of your Journey to Aussie. Its a cold world out there especially in Aussie unlike the UK where every street you can be lucky to see a black man or a Nigerian willing to help a fellow black man. But its not same with Nigerians in Aussie most are a bit skeptical to help a fellow Nigerian they can easily point you to a particular direction to take but few will be willing to take you by the hand and lead you to your destination.

Having said that, a lot of your family members in Nairaland are taken aback at your actions. I guess to you, it was taken in good faith but we are surprised and unhappy.

Its left for others to decide whether to forgive you or not. But I'll plead with you to drop such trait it doesnt say much good about you.

I wish all of us a fruitful week.

Blu Malam: This report is very questionable.

Med View airlines solely airlifts muslim pilgrims, amongst which pregnant/nursing mothers are not found as they are forbidden to go on pilgrimage. Therefore the 'nursing mother' angle invalidates the story completely. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Na wah Ooº°˚ ˚°ºoo propaganda everywhere :-. Please who told you medview doesnt Airlift non muslims? Ur asertion is not just false but brazenly absurd. I intend flying medview sometime next month from Ph to Lag and Yes medview airlifts who ever buys its ticket.

GT

Well Technically GT is what is required but, if you take an Academic test for your evaluation and feel your score will be good enough to get you some points you can use it. so in summary GT or Academic can go. I used Academic, cos there was no point repeating the test GT as required to file an application.
