Jarus: He meant to say 2 non-natural strikers. Iheanacho is a trained Striker who can also play as a supporting Striker. Musa started his Career as a Striker. He played as a Striker for CSKA Moscow during his loan Spell last Season - hence we ain't playing with non-natural Strikers. |

goldfish80: I don't get it. We are playing 2 false 9s in today's Game? Well, pros being that the Nordic defenders would not have a man to mark, could be genius if it works. Would be comedy central if it doesn't. We are going curve ball in this game. Interesting. Nah..... we ain't playing 2 false 9s Sir, in fact we ain't playing any false 9 at all; rather two Strikers Upfront. |

tbaba1234: Confirmed Starting Line-up:
Uzoho; Ekong, Balogun, Omeruo; Moses, Mikel, Ndidi, Etebo, Idowu; Iheanacho, Musa.
I think, this is a much better lineup
Colin Udoh deliberately released a fake line-up to throw people off. He mentioned that Rohr was angry that the line-up was released the last time . Apparently, he did it to throw the opponents off. Finally we have the 3 - 5 - 2 Formation we've been clamoring for. Also It's good Rohr plays Moses where he belongs - RWB, though I would have loved him to play as a LWB simply to accommodate Ebuehi in the Lineup as a RWB. The Strike-force is very much spot-on. The Pace of Musa and potent Ability of Iheanacho in the Box gonna be handy for the Eagles today! However, I hope to see Iwobi in the 2nd Half replacing Etebo or Mikel, as well as Ebuehi for Moses or Idowu. |

AIG07: Hahaha....
See me see trouble.
LieDetector quoted the news that said Rohr plans to drop Shehu, Ndidi(who is our top tackler) and start Musa.
Everyone here agrees that the team lacks creativity which Iwobi brings and needs a player like Ndidi. We all know that Iwobi can't play out wide but we still all agree that he is our most creative player. The news stated that Rohr plans to give him a new role (which I guess is the AMF role) which is very fine by me.
I'm sure LieDetector made his comments which I quoted on the basis that Rohr plans to switch formation to 3-5-2 which does not require a WF. What prompted those posts was why is Rohr planning to accommodate a certain player that does not fit into the system simply because another player will be drop.
So, always try to understand what and how a discourse begins before jumping into it.
I don't know how pointing out something faulty turns me into a tribalist.
I don't play all these dirty games of tribalism. I just want the best team to file out. I'll need you guys to point out where have done this in the past. I have called for Ighalo to be dropped. I have suggested that Idowu is drop to make use of V. Moses as LWB. I pointed out the magnitude of S. MOSES loss to the team even before the team left the shore of the country.
So your accusation does not hold any water.

Perhaps their coach was not feeding them tales of how much better Lewandoski is. Do they have a team psychologist? Most likely, no.
What Senegal has that Nigeria obviously doesn't is PRIDE. They had PASSION. That is what PATRIOTISM is about. So, Ogu should go and ask them what's up next time he wants to feed us trash.

It is time we adopt this slogan "the best have it" so that we can progress as a nation.
It is still one of the reasons I don't like local coaches handling our national teams. Their level of biasness is out of this world forgiveness: What is federal character in starting Musa?
Is Musa a bad player?
How many wingers do you have in your team?
If Musa is one of the 3 wingers in the team and one of the winger who did not live up to expectation is dropped for Musa, is it not a normal thing to do?
Victor Moses, Iwobi and Musa are thes three wingers Rohr is used to, and since Iwobi was not effective enough, it will be a wise decision to drop him and start Musa.
It is a very simple straight forward thing. So, wetin be quota system for dis one.
Abi, make we use Iwobi wey we know say em no dey do well for the wing come take play Iceland again? edi287: Save this post for the next time someone calls you a tribalist somehow: Imagine reading "starting musa is federal character". How low have we all gone that we cant even reason properly again without the effect of tribalism and ethnictism beclouding our judgement?
Like Musa doesn't deserve to be in the squad, the same Musa that thrive well in Russia. Infact why should Musa be on the bench for Iwobi in the first place when talking wing play? Odunayaw: Trust Nigerians to look for what/who to blame. I am awaiting someone to blame mundane things such as the style of hair on the players or something stoopid LMAO....... I temporarily stayed off from posting on this Thread coz some Monikers I respected are going haywire with their Posts just because we lost a Match. So playing Musa is simply to comply with Quota System?! Musa does not deserve to be in the Team I guess?! LOL! I don't wanna get involved in this kinda Discourse, but it's better we reason deeply before making Posts. |

AIG07: Anytime I say Nacho should lead the line with Alex, I'm suggesting the 2 false 9s in a 3 - 5-2 set up. And not as a lone striker. We don't have the required striker for the lone striker role. Simy would have been an option but no room to experiment. You can't have 2 false 9s in a Setup Sir? Mind explaining how?! Secondly how do you expect 3 - 5 - 2 Formation to work when you are playing with your so called false 9s?! Ighalo can play as a Target-Man. He has proven it, what's he's lacking is Support. Ighalo ain't the Problem, playing Mikel behind him is the real Problem Sir. |

mank1234: What does Ighalo bring on board? What's the use of a striker if you cannot score? Or are we playing rugby? Iwobi and Kelechi are better scorers. We need goals to win a match and not pushing defenders.
This is world cup and not Africa. If you push, it will be foul. Good Question Bruh....... Ighalo can play as a target Man. He can attract more than a Defender to him, thereby freeing up space for Iheanacho to exploit. It's not necessary for him to have the Ball often, rather be a Threat that destabilizes, disorganizes the Opposition defensive Setup. Like JM would say whenever Lukaku was having Goals Drought - his general play is more important as far as he's creating Goals and unsettling the Opposition defensive Plan. As you said, this is World thus experimenting shouldn't be the last Option. Mind telling how many Goals Iwobi scored as a Striker or SS for both Club and Country pls?! mank1234: With Ighalo you won't create chances cos he's always with a defender and doesn't make runs. It's runs that create space for a through pass. It's easier for people to blame the midfielders but if the striker doesn't open up how do you create the chance? That's why 2nd Striker is needed Bruh, being with Defender(s) will free up space for the pairing Striker to exploit. How do you expect him to create Goals when he's the last Man making the Runs?! That's why many of us are suggesting Iheanacho to pair him upfront. |

AIG07: We don't have to use strength to break defences we need clever attackers. Till the time Ighalo was subbed off he never won a single ball with his strength. Of what use is strength when you can't use it. We don't have strikers like Costa that will fight for every aerial lballs. You will only see Ighalo standing and backing defenders.
If Rohr starts him, we will not score. Sir, Ighalo is the best to lead the Attack not Iheanacho cos the latter is better off as a SS. Though the primary Assignment of a Striker is to score Goals, but sometimes you need to look beyond that. You need to consider what he can bring on board aside from scoring Goals. Having Ighalo as a leading Striker with Iheanacho behind him gonna be more effective. Ighalo Stamina gonna be handy to bully and create space for Iheanacho to exploit and do the needful in the Box. How on earth are you suggesting the Duo of Iheanacho and Iwobi to lead the Attack?! We've debated countlessly on this Thread that Iheanacho is better off as a SS not a leading Striker with Facts and Stats. Moreso, have you watched Iwobi played as a SS, even for his Club?! What Match(es), how many Minutes?! You can't just pick Players for Roles based on Perception or personal Conviction Sir. |

Joebie: That 3-4-3/3-5-2 na very good option too Yeah they are, but there is gonna be a tweak in the Lineup and Tactics. if we play 3 - 5 - 2, I will hope for a Midfield Trio of Ndidi, Mikel and Etebo. Ndidi and Mikel gonna play Deep while Etebo plays as B2B Midfielder, with Iheanacho and Ighalo Upfront. Also we will play more on the Flanks than Middle, hence I hope we have capable Crossers and Nodders. I will surely go with Tyrone as a RWB and Moses as a LWB. Tyrone's Wing gonna be used the most. I'm afraid we will get lost with 3 Upfront in a 3 - 4 - 3 Formation, except we wanna play with invited Wing-forwards who will be drifting to the Middle to join in the buildup. I will play Iheanacho as a Striker in this Formation, Moses and Etebo as Wing-forwards, Idowu and Tyrone as Wing-backs and Ndidi and Mikel as DMs. |

So with this your ideal formation, we should have: VicMo, Iwobi, Kelechi, and Ighalo in the field at the same time? In the name of playing with a "support striker"? That's like playing with 4 forwards. And you'll just surrender the midfield to Croatia, right? C'mon Kelechi Iheanacho is a striker. So it's either him or Ighalo, not both.
