“He [Michael Carrick] is such a fantastic player and it is a pity, I always loved him, but instead of being his manager when he was 25 I am his manager when he is 35. “We have a good understanding. We know when he can play. We know when he is ready and when he needs a rest. I am still having Michael Carrick and probably for one more season. That's life.” - Jose Mourinho |
“He [Paul Pogba] is adapting much better in relation to the intensity of the competition and he is much more confident. “Obviously he plays with some guidelines over his position but at the same time with some freedom to occupy some attacking areas where he feels and thinks he can be important. He is comfortable on the pitch. That is the best way of saying it.” - Jose Mourinho |
“I thought we were going to have the ball. Arsenal are a team who let the opponents play. “I thought we would have space and the ball would arrive quite easily to the attacking players. I believed ones like Mata, Martial and Rashford were faster than Wayne, better attacking opponents one-to-one in the last line. I thought it was the best option.” Jose Mourinho |
"We were in control, but you can never relax and switch off. They have some real quality players, but I thought as a team we defended very well. Everyone stuck to the game plan and it worked really well. "That makes it tougher to take. If you are getting stressed and hanging on, then it can be inevitable in a way, but the way the game was going, we felt in such control and the goal came from nowhere – it was tough to take. "In any game, I think you have to look to take positives from it. It’s a lot easier to deal with a result like that when you know you have played well, done everything you can and you deserve to win. "The problem is when it hasn’t gone to plan and you think it should have been so much better and there are problems to solve, but I can’t really see problems that we need to solve. "Of course, results are the major thing, but playing like that, more often than not, we are going to win games and I am sure that will happen between now and the end of the season." - Michael Carrick |
“He [Antonio Valencia] is a beast. He is a great player and very important for us, defending and going forward. He gives us a lot on the right flank.” - Juan Mata |
“Antonio has been incredible at right-back since he has moved to that position. He just looks so dangerous going forward but, at the same time, he is so solid defensively. “His positional play has improved a lot and I think that’s told. He has been our best player in a lot of our games this season. “To come back so quick from a broken bone speaks volumes for him and his attitude to get back and play.” - Michael Carrick |
![]() I think enough is said for the Dude to come back to his senses. It's not a must to like and support a particular individual, but hating on the Club you claimed you support and wishing it failure is wrong. I do not need anyone to remind me of Fans wanting LVG to go by all means..... it's simply what every sensible, real United Fans wanted at the time. JM ain't doing bad at the moment. We ain't in a bad position on the Table, we are still actively competing in EFL Cup as well the Europa League. The Team also is gelling well, and gradually becoming a Force to reckon with as far as EPL is concerned. We ain't parking Buses rather dominating Games..... and I'm pretty sure Goals will start coming soon. |
“We were really close to winning the game but this is the Premier League, this is football and you know that every team fights until the end. They did that and had one chance at the end of the game, Giroud with a great header, and we only get a point. “I think it was a good game from our side and for the fans. It was a typical Premier League game with emotion and passion, with goals. “We were really close to having a happy weekend but now we can’t have a happy weekend. We can be proud of the performance, but obviously we’re really disappointed with the result. “It was a great run from Ander. He always chooses the right option when he arrives on the ball. I felt the ball was coming to me and I could finish first time. I would have been more happy if it was the goal that meant three points. “I always feel really privileged to play in these kinds of games and score goals in front of the fans at Old Trafford, so we need to try to do it more. “We didn’t score [in the first half]. Cech made two or three good saves and we have to deal with that. At the end of the day we only scored one goal and it wasn’t enough today. “I don’t know [if it was a penalty in the first half]. Valencia isn’t a player that normally falls to the ground for no reason but I don’t know as I didn’t see. “We feel the same. We’ve had three games, three draws. I honestly feel that we have deserved to win these games and we would have had nine points instead of three and be really close to the top. “But we have to be positive, think about the performance and keep playing like this to get the points.” - Juan Mata |
"I don't want to speak about it. I have a very good feeling with Andre Marriner. He is the kind of referee who, if he makes mistakes against my team, there is no intention. "He doesn't want to be the star of the game, he is a good referee. I don't want to say if it is a mistake or not; I know because I saw the video, but I don't want to say because he is a good referee." - Jose Mourinho |
"Everybody knows that [the bad luck]. Not me, because I am Manchester United manager, not you because you are the Manchester United journalist, but I think everyone knows this. "The boys, they played so well, so well. From the defensive point of view, they were perfect except the goal. We were perfect the way we controlled them, we were so good. David De Gea, not one save. We were dangerous, we scored, we should have scored more. We were very positive in our approach, very aggressive, pressing high, but we were very, very unlucky." - Jose Mourinho |
"I think we have amazing fans – the way they react after this draw is amazing, because they know the players did fantastic work and they can control their disappointment with the result to praise the players and their performance." - Jose Mourinho |
"The players are quiet. They feel like it is a defeat and they are very disappointed. But I told them, the worse feeling is when you are upset with yourself because you didn’t perform or you made big mistakes, but they cannot have that feeling. "They have to be proud with what they did, but obviously they are very disappointed because we lost two points against a very good team that did not have a shot [on target]." - Jose Mourinho |
"The work was good, they are working well. Jones and Rojo did not go to the national team, they stayed and we worked in the past two weeks. "They are working so, so well. Antonio had a broken arm, but he played amazingly well. Top players like Sanchez, Ozil, Walcott - we saw nothing from them because of us, not because of them. We had good chances: if Rooney had passed to Pogba he has an open goal. Rojo had a header with an open goal. We had chances to kill the game at 2-0 but out of nothing, 1-1." - Jose Mourinho |
"Imagine if we had the six points we lost at home, where we would be. We had three amazing performances. I am sure we are going to play other matches like that at home and we are going to win. That’s football. "What we did against Stoke, Burnley and Arsenal at home, is for the people to leave the stadium with the happiness of the nine points, but instead we go with three points, which is really bad, but the performance levels make me believe a lot in the future. It is not possible that you are unlucky every game, but in this moment we are unlucky every game, which is incredible." - Jose Mourinho |
Elxandre: ![]() I am not pls! |
![]() It's obvious United Fans are Oliver Twist..... very hard to please and satisfy. The Team is on right track, and JM is doing his works excellently. We are dropping points not unnecessarily, rather unluckily. We are playing good football, the Players are gradually getting confidence to play and dominate Games with no regard to the Opponent(s). We did miss Ibrahimovic Today! He would have scored or got an assist in the Match. Also we would have blamed JM if he started Rooney ahead of Rashford as a Striker or Martial as a Winger. We are indeed Oliver Twist. The positive things are; the Team is picking up and gaining confidence. I'm so happy to see Mata and Herrera proving Doubters wrong week in week out. Also it's so amazing Jones played 2 Matches consecutively without getting injured. I thought Rojo was a new Signing until I put on my Glasses to see clearly. He's also improving and seems ready to fight for Shirt. Mkhtaryan is happy at United. He's definitely happy and he's training hard to get fit and ready! We ain't at Carrington. We do not know whether he's ready or not. I think we should trust the Manager on this issue. We should stop blaming any of the Lads for the goal conceded. What did you expect from Wenger to do? He's a top Manager and he did the right thing. It's either they lose honorably or fight to get a draw. He made a good move and it panned out positively. I'm proud of the Team, also happy the Fans are furious for getting a point out of possible 3...... it shows the winning mentality is back!!! |
Seem Dudes have forgotten we played Arsenal not Aston Villa?! Assuming it was United that equalized in the dying minute, we would be celebrating it, not lamenting as we are doing. |
olabode89: ![]() That's too harsh for the Kid! He did play his best! He was exhausted while Ox was still fresh! |
Lana1: ![]() The goal United Scored wasn't by luck! Rather it was a well taken Goal with a nice buildup! |
Arsenal's Fans were expecting a Bus-park tactic from JM, but they couldn't believe we turned them to a mid-table Club. Kudos to all the Players..... they played good game! |
Why on Earth did we switch to defensive Mode after the Goal?! Why?! We should have kept pressing until we killed the Game probably with one or two Goals! Arsenal deserves no point in this Match! Just a shot on Target in the whole 94 Minutes! Chai!!! |
United problem is Pogba! He needs to up his Game in the 2nd Half! He's not a top Player yet, hence he shouldn't be playing as if he has reached the top! |
^^^^^ ![]() But I have 80% confidence in the Defence?! |
Elxandre:Guess you've seen the official Lineup?! De-Gea Valencia - Jones - Rojo - Darmian Carrick - Herrerra Mata - Pogba - Martial Rashford
|
Lineups - Manchester United vs Arsenal FC
|
MrTA: ![]() Nah! That's simply a probable Lineup! |
"We've had many good games with them over the years, with some ups and downs, but it’s always one we look forward to. "Arsenal have always had teams that play such good football and they’re the type of team that you can never switch off against. It’s that style of play they have, of playing in and around the box, and they’re very good with their short passing. They can be very dangerous at any given time. "Generally the matches between us have always been really good games of football. Hard-fought but honest games and the respect is there between the two clubs and the two teams. "This is a massive time to get some momentum because it rolls on from week to week with no breaks now. The double-header internationals made the season a bit stop-start, but now is the time to really kick on. Momentum is the key word at this stage, up to Christmas and through that period." - Michael Carrick |
"I always think the end of December is a good moment to look and see where you are, to see the differences to the top and bottom of the league, to see the perspective for the second half of the season. "We are in mid-November but we know Arsenal have six points more than us. We know the distance tomorrow can be three, six or nine and obviously nine would be bad, and three would be perfect. Old Trafford will be full of emotion as always, so expectations are high for a big game. "Every match is an isolated event – it has nothing to do with now. Mr Wenger was a different manager in 2004 to now; I was a different manager to now. The teams are completely different; he and I don’t have one single player from that time – most of them are retired. "So now it’s just a big game between two of the best teams in the country. Rivalry is not just historical – it’s about rivals for titles, and for a decade it was just between United and Arsenal. United were dominant but Arsenal had a period when they won titles, where they were unbeatable and so on. "Everything was bigger in that period and it has kept on for the last 15 or 20 years. I think everybody likes that. The players are professional and know how to behave, so I don’t think that’s a problem. I think the rivalry can only affect the game in a positive way. "Feyenoord is crucial – we cannot lose the match or we are out of the Europa League. West Ham is crucial because if we win, we are in the semi-finals and if we lose, we are out. And in between, we have Arsenal and West Ham in the Premier League, two good teams. "These are big matches and, honestly, in spite of being very unlucky at home – because I don’t remember being as unlucky as we were against Stoke and Burnley – I love to play at Old Trafford. "I love the passion and the support of the people. So with four matches at home, we must feel at home and we’ll go at them and try to win the matches." - Jose Mourinho |
"I think there will be a quick start from both teams - and it’s up to us to ensure that we start quicker than them. "We did that at Swansea and we got three early goals. Those goals settled us down, so it would be nice to have that against Arsenal. But if we don’t, we need to be composed on the ball and not panic as we look to open them up. "We know we can move to within three points of Arsenal with a win, which is an incentive, but we don’t get too distracted by things like that. "We'd much rather focus on each game individually and not pay too much attention to the teams around us in the table – we'll concentrate on our own game. "We had a really young team out that day with myself, Marcus, Memphis and Guillermo (Varela) all starting. "It was mixed with experience though, which proved a good blend. We took the game to Arsenal on that occasion and we'll be doing that again this time." - Jese Lingard |
"I’m probably different to other managers in the way that some get holidays and disappear; they go to their countries and they go to sunny countries and they enjoy their life. I’m not that kind of person – for me, holidays are in June, not now, so I stayed. "I’ve worked and I’ve trained with the group of 10 players we’ve had here, also training with some of the young players from Nicky Butt’s side who joined me. "I was analysing opponents, I was scouting with my scouting department, I was preparing for the matches that are coming up against Arsenal, West Ham and Feyenoord. "I had a couple of days off and went to London for my family. I also went to the tennis [the ATP World Tour Finals] because it’s a sport I don’t just enjoy but I learn from, especially from a mental and tactical point of view. "So it was a good two weeks for me, but I want to play matches – and the match is tomorrow." - Jose Mourinho |
