[b]MOURINHO BEMOANS SLOW START V FENERBAHCE Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was frustrated by his side's Europa League defeat to Fenerbahce on Thursday but insisted the Reds still "depend on ourselves" to qualify for the knockout stages. Here are the key points from his first post-match interview... RIGHT RESULT "They deserved to win. Football is not just about quality; it is about effort and commitment, it is about playing to your limits. In an atmosphere like this, to concede an early goal gives the opposition exactly what they want. The opponent can then defend and counter-attack us with a lead and that is our fault for letting them be in that situation. They were playing a Champions League final and we were playing a summer friendly by the way the game started." LATE RESPONSE "After their second goal we reacted and could have got a different result but I didn’t feel we deserved more as over the 90 minutes we didn’t play well enough. We didn’t fully play to our maximum." DEFENSIVE INJURIES "It is difficult to cope, having to play with two left-backs at centre-back. This makes it tough to cope with the physicality of the game. To try and have the ball and create chances we made attacking changes but we could not create chances to score." QUALIFICATION CHANCES "We don’t depend on the others, we depend on ourselves. If we win both games we qualify. Even with four points we could qualify, since Feyenoord play Fenerbahce and both sides cannot get maximum points."[/b] |
"So for himself [Memphis] it is important to start playing regularly at the age that he is at – otherwise the way, I think, is that maybe he has to find another solution [club] because he is too good to sit on the bench. "I still believe in him, he has the right mentality, the right character to play for United, but there are so many options there. Regular playing time will help his progression." - Dick Advocaat |
Jose Mourinho Banned for one Game and fined by FA after he accepted an improper conduct charge. He has also been fined £50,000 for media comments he made about referee Anthony Taylor prior to United’s game at Liverpool. The one-game touchline ban means the United boss will be missing from the touchline at Swansea City this weekend but will be back when Arsene Wenger brings his Arsenal side to Old Trafford on Nov. 19. |
LINEUP United: De Gea; Darmian, Blind, Rojo, Shaw; Schneiderlin, Herrera; Rashford, Pogba, Martial; Rooney. Subs: Romero, Jones, Fellaini, Young, Mata, Mkhitaryan, Ibrahimovic. ************************************ The Lineup is very OK! But I hope to see Mkhitaryan in the 2nd Half! He should start getting minutes now! JM should replace Rooney with Mkhtaryan in the 2nd, then moves Rashford to 9! |
A40: ![]() Guess you will be glad if he returns?! |
A40: ![]() But..... bur..... he's your Club Legend?! Thought you really love him?!
|
A40:See vexation, and lamentations, at its peak! LOL! January is not far..... perhaps your Club should take him back!
|
PietroRico: ![]() That's too much nah!
|
A40: "Looking at Bastian and the way he was working professionally with the fitness coach, we think that it's a human decision, a professional decision, to bring him back to the team. He'll be much better prepared and in much better condition in case his future decision is to leave the club; he'll be much better prepared for competition if he stays with us. ![]() You should be thanking JM for the Decision instead of ranting! |
[b]MATA WINS CLOSEST PLAYER OF THE MONTH POLL Juan Mata has been crowned Manchester United’s Player of the Month for October, after the Spaniard narrowly beat his friend and compatriot Ander Herrera in our closest-ever poll. Over 90,000 votes were cast on ManUtd.com and the club’s official Twitter account @ManUtd, with Mata earning a combined total of 44 per cent compared to Herrera’s marginally lower 43 per cent. Remarkably, after analysing the figures, we can confirm that Mata finished with just 198 more votes. Fellow nominee Antonio Valencia, the Ecuadorian who is now facing a lengthy spell out with a fractured arm, finished third in the monthly poll with 13 per cent of votes cast by supporters. After scoring United’s winning goal against rivals Manchester City in the EFL Cup fourth round, Mata has become the third different Player of the Month award-winner this season following Eric Bailly’s triumph in August and Marcus Rashford’s success in September. It is the fifth time the 28-year-old forward has won the trophy since moving to the club from Chelsea, with his last triumph coming in September 2015. Thanks to everyone who voted in our poll. [/b] |
forgiveness:Seriously I really don't understand the Reason the Guy is being overlooked. Instead of recalling Enyeama back to the Team, it's far better to try out Aiyenugba. He has the experience we need, and he's ain't a bad Keeper! |
JOYCE LEAVES UNITED TO BECOME WIGAN BOSSI wish Ryan Giggs will apply for the vacant Position. He needs to start from somewhere. Pep didn't become Barcelona Manager after hanging his Boots. He tested (and fine-tuned) his abilities as a Manager with La-Masia before getting the Shot to manage the First Team. I hope Ryan Giggs will show us what he's capable us too; with the Reserve Team before asking for the Managership of the First Team. |
PLAYER PREPARATIONS As per all matchdays, the players have had a leisurely day in preparation for the game. Breakfast was followed by a stretching session in the grounds of the hotel, in windy, but quite mild conditions. Lunch will be followed by a rest in their rooms before heading to the stadium later.

[b]"Sometimes you are in a period when one chance is enough to win the match, sometimes people in the stadium are very disappointed and they are not even emotionally in the game but you score a goal and you win. "Other times people are excited and players are excited and players play incredible football and the emotion is there until the last second and the players don't stop. The number of chances was amazing [against Burnley], the quality of football the same. Stoke was more of the same, not with so many shots on target, but it was also a game where probably the quality of our attacking football was even higher. "So one day we really have to score a lot of goals but the good thing is we have found a way to play and a way to enjoy things, but obviously total enjoyment is with three points. "I played many times in Turkey, I think with all my clubs in European competition here. It's hard, it's difficult, they have a completely different spirit and approach to the game, and lots of experienced players. "Also here they are protected with their fixtures - they play only next Monday in their next league match so they can focus only on this game [against us]. I think they have the same objective as us, to try to get nine points at home. They got three against Feyenoord but we are also coming for a result and the players must enjoy such a difficult atmosphere. I always think the most difficult atmospheres are to enjoy and not to be scared of, so hopefully the players can do that. "I don't think Fenerbahce had a bad game [at Old Trafford], to be honest, for more than half an hour, Fenerbahce was solid and the game was not easy for us. In the last period of the first half, we played well but we had a little moment where we scored two goals in a few minutes and then the game is different. "The fact that Fenerbahce has back-to-back victories [in the league] is not a surprise, I think it's the normal situation. The Turkish league is improving all the time. Some teams outside Istanbul are coming to the top and fighting for the top positions. I think the three big Istanbul tradition clubs are very strong, they have very good players, very experienced managers like Dick Advocaat, players with experience of the highest level and international competitions. That's normal that now Fenerbahce is recovering positions in the Turkish league, and are coming close to the top." - Jose Mourinho [/b] |
SailorXY:He had a good Game against Burnley. He's indeed ready to take his Chances! |
“Well, I almost don't remember when Phil Jones had a good run of Manchester United. “I don't remember. I remember when I was at Real Madrid, I played against United and Phil Jones played in Madrid, but I don't remember too many occasions after that. “He's having a difficult relationship with injuries and it's been difficult this season for him, but he worked hard to recover and he's been training with the team for more than a week now. “We're in a difficult situation because we lost three defenders in a week; [Antonio] Valencia, [Eric] Bailly and [Chris] Smalling. Because of this difficult situation, we don't have more time to be in better conditions. We have to select him and maybe we have to play him.” - Jose Mourinho |
SCHWEINSTEIGER UPDATE The decision to include Bastian Schweinsteiger in first-team training was taken last Thursday. The German was informed a day later and joined the team on Monday. The boss says it was a "human decision" and the World Cup winner will benefit personally and could also be an option if there are injuries in midfield like we are currently experiencing in defence. "It's a decision based on the fact that we are in a period of the season where it's really difficult to train with everyone together. |
VALENCIA OUT FOR A "WHILE" The manager said Antonio Valencia will be out for a "while" following his arm operation but Matteo Darmian is trusted as his replacement after getting minutes in the Europa League already before playing against Burnley last weekend. “Valencia is a bad injury, yes. It's an important fracture in his arm and an important surgery too, so he'll be out for a while. |
[b]Press Conference........ "By having six points out of six in the home matches, we put ourselves in a positive position in the group." "He's [Jones] having a difficult relationship with injuries and it's been difficult this season for him, but he worked hard to recover and he's training with the team for more than a week now." "My opinion changes because the rules change, and because the Europa League winner has a direct spot for the Champions League. "In the last couple of years, the Europa League for the big clubs has a different meaning because it's another way to try to qualify for the Champions League." "The fact that Fenerbahce is back to victories is not a surprise, I think it's the normal situation. The Turkish league, I think, is improving all the time. Some teams outside Istanbul are coming to fight for the top positions. I think the three big traditional clubs in Istanbul are very strong, they have very good players, very experienced managers like Dick Advocaat, players with experience of the highest level and international competitions." - Jose Mourinho [/b] |
Press Conference........ "We expect a very difficult game. We know it will be difficult because Fenerbahce is a good team with good players, so tomorrow we want to fight [for the win]. We are here to win - that's it." "Of course, I work a lot in the first part of the season and have to be ready when the manager gives me an opportunity. "I feel sorry for Antonio for his injury. We wait on his recovery and I hope he can come back as soon as possible." - Matteo Darmian |
