Justice Chuka Obiozor ordered the seven banks to remit the various amounts being allegedly kept illegally in their custody to the designated Federal Government’s Asset Recovery dollars account domiciled with the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The concerned banks are United Bank for Africa; Diamond Bank Plc; Skye Bank Plc; First Bank Limited; Fidelity Bank Plc; Keystone Bank Limited; and Sterling Bank Plc.
According to court papers filed by counsel for the Attorney General of the Federation, Prof. Yemi Akinseye-George (SAN), a total of $367.4m was illegally hidden by three government agencies in UBA, while a sum of $41m was illegally kept in a NAPIMS fixed deposit account with Skye Bank.
The court papers stated that $277.9m was hidden in Diamond Bank; $18.9m in First Bank; $24.5m in Fidelity Bank; $17m in Keystone Bank; and $46.5m in Sterling Bank. Wow, some banks will feel the heat tomorrow. |

Someone wants to OFFLOAD about 17M units of a stock THAT became 'accessible' on bad news and you DELIBERATELY held him back saying you are having technical issues placing orders when IT IS NOT TRUE. That volume would have satisfied much orders. God is watching. That stock broker should be sued for losses incurred by that investor. Businessideas: You see you are confusing the professional angle with the notoriety of this new media like Kemi too. It's not an assumption, she is professionally competent and licensed to provide healthcare and public education on this issue sir. The intention and the arrogance she's shown up till now as contemptuous as it is still doesn't diminish her professional responsibility. I know a family that their daughter has a similar problem and it was an experienced pharmacist who first detected this ailment and referred the child to a specialist on the Island. The father of the child is clearly not handling this case well,if he his child is receiving care,he should just say it and share his experience if he is willing to do so at least to encourage other parents in similar situations. I think both parties are too arrogant for my liking Why should the father tell anyone how he is handling his child healthcare? Every Child after birth always go for medical check-up, and they don't announce it to the world. |

Businessideas: Apparently you hate her so much that you almost sounded as if in cases like this, her professional training as a pharmacist is less than that of a doctor(I assume you mean a medical doctor). You are so wrong kemi-hater. Kemi as a pharmacist can make a referral to,not even a GP but a specialist in that area and any area in the field of healthcare and write a cover letter with her signature. She's not only professionally qualified to refer, she is equally clinically experienced to query the therapeutic plan after referral and may God save you or your family from a medical error that escape the attention and detection of a pharmacist Ok, Let's assume she She's professionally qualified. What part of that professionally qualification allow her to use patient record in an online fight. And who told her Seyi is not seeking medical solution to his child health issue. She is just lucky this is Nigeria. |

stcool: The NSE can not claim ignorance, I remember vividly during the days of stockmarket Nigeria website, where most guys I respect so much in investing where raising the red flag countless number of times about Oando (At a point I was arguing wrongly). They saw it long coming and they pulled out all their investmets in Oando and never went back.
Wale is a killer, he killed Oando. Forget about the ConocoPhillips deal. God exposed him. They never had the interest of minority shareholders at heart going into that deal. If Oil price had stayed up, they would have diverted so much including divesting most holdings to their cronies.
Have you tried going through Oando financials: Oando bahamas, Oando this & that, so many sub companies under one company you begin to wonder. Go and check the shareholding structure of Oando Energy Resources, the same way they are diluting Oando plc Nigeria, is the same way they are diluting shares in Oando Energy resources.
At the end, the real Oando shareholders own nothing in all this deal. But they are quick to raise capital from minority shareholders. God will punish Wale & Co. This is Trancorp Senior Brother. |

MrTease: Be careful what you pray for. I reported this earlier that the shareholder's funds might be wiped out if they lose two court cases. I will proceed to put figures to this assertion.
"The Company is currently in litigation with one of its former suppliers of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO). The commercial dispute, which arose in 2008 has been through the High Court and Court of Appeal, and is currently at the Supreme Court. The amount being claimed by the supplier as breach of contract is $43,262,497 (N13.5 billion). Whereas the judgments of the lower courts have been in favor of the supplier, the Directors, on the advice of the external solicitors, are of the opinion that the judgment of the lower court will be upturned by the Supreme Court. There are also a number of other legal suits outstanding against the Company estimated at N4.5 billion. On the advice of the Solicitors, the Board of Directors is also of the opinion that no material losses are expected to arise therefrom. However, a provision of N2.3billion has been made in these financial statements to mitigate any possible future loss. The Company is also in litigation with Nimex Petrochemical Nigeria Limited, one of its former suppliers of products. In 2007, Nimex sued the company for US$3,316,702.71 and US$127,060.62 being demurrage and interest incurred for various supplies of petroleum products. The Federal High Court gave judgment in favour of Nimex in the sum of US$13,756,728 which included the amount claimed and interest at 21% till judgment was delivered and also granted a stay of execution with a condition that the judgment sum be paid into the court. The court also granted a garnishee order against First Bank Plc to pay Conoil’s money with the bank into the court. Conoil has appealed against the judgment to the Court of Appeal in Abuja. The appeal is pending and the Directors, on the advice of the external solicitors, are of the opinion that the judgement of the Federal High Court will be upturned. The current value of the judgment sum is N4.3billion. However, a provision of N675m has been made in these financial statements to mitigate any possible future loss"
Vitol Judgement against Conoil $43,262,497 (N13.5billion) Nimex Judgement against conoil $13,756,728(N4.3bilioin) Sum of both Judgements (N17.8Billion) Shareholders Funds @ 1st Qtr 2017 (N18Billion)
If the supreme courts confirms both judgments shareholder's funds drops to N200m which is as good as Zero. Please note that the previous provisions for these contigent liabilities have been grossly inadequate.
You focus on the cash on their books N50billion (1st Qtr 2017) while ingnoring the liabilities N59billion (1st Qtr 2017) and contingent liabilities almost N18billion.
Ironically, this company doesn't require permission from the Shareholders before taking this decision. Yet Shareholders funds always come to rescue, while the management continue the mismanagement. This is why I have no loyalty to any company on the NSE. |

The British-Ijebu war of 1892 (The battle of Imagbon)
In 1891, the Ijebu tribe, dwelling between 50 and 60 miles north-east of Lagos on the Magbon river, set a blockade on the trade route from the interior into Lagos, which was a crown colony, and charged customs dues which served as their income. The Awujale, the traditional ruler of Ijebu, closed down the Ejirin market, cutting off Lagos from a source of up-country trade. The British government persuaded the Awujale several times to open the blockaded route but the Ijebu ruler remained adamant. However, in May 1891, a British acting governor, Captain C.M Denton C.M.G, together with some Hausa troops (mostly slaves who fled the North to South and were recruited by the British army) went to Ijebu kingdom to make an agreement with the Awujale on opening the blockaded route and allowing the free passage of goods into Lagos. The Awujale refused but after much persuasion and pressure, the Awujale agreed in January 1892 on the terms of receiving £500 annually as compensation for the loss of custom revenue. However, the agreement didn’t last long. A white missionary was denied access to pass through the kingdom and was sent back. The British government were provoked by the action of the Ijebus and authorized the use of force on the kingdom. Britain gathered troops from Gold Coast (Ghana), Sierra Leone, Ibadan, and Lagos (the Hausa troops nearly 150). Battle of imagbon Colonel F.C. Scott C.B was the commander of the troops of 450 men piled up by Britain. On the 12th of May, 1892, the captain and his men, including some carriers, sailed up the Lagos Lagoon and landed at Ekpe. When they got to Leckie, another carriers about 186 in numbers were recruited. On the Ijebu side, 8000 men with old rifles would be fighting the British. The British underestimated the fighting prowess of the Ijebus thus giving them some hard times in penetrating into the interiors of Ijebu kingdom. The first day, the British army razed down four villages with some of their men sustaining fatal injuries. The next day, they proceeded to Atumba and gunned down the Ijebus with machine guns. Britain lost 12 men which include a Briton and 12 Africans. Every Ijebu villages they came across was burnt to the ground. The Ijebus were really losing the battle but determined to prevent the British army from crossing the Yemoyi river. The goddess of the Yemoyi river was said to have taken human sacrifice in order to prevent the intruders (British) from crossing. The river was dug deeper by the Ijebus to make it impenetrable by all means for the British army. However, the British army managed to cross the sacred Yemoyi river and unleashed havoc on the Ijebus. They proceeded to the village of Imagbon. The Ijebus had lost over 900 men while Britain lost only 56 men and have more than 30 wounded. The Ijebus were still determined to fight on but shortly afterwards, the Awujale surrendered and admitted losing the war. The British union flag was later raised above Ijebu Ode. Captain Scot warned his men against pillaging which some didn’t heed to especially the Ibadan irregulars who were later deprived of their arms. The toll gates in Oru built by the Ijebus were destroyed and some of their shrines were also torched. This bloody war is also known in history as the 1892 Ijebu Expedition. The British troops were awarded The East & West Africa Medal with Clasp dated ‘1892’. Today, one of these medals can be found in Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge. Ijebu kingdom was later annexed to the colony of southern Nigeria. https://oldnaija.com/2015/11/04/the-british-ijebu-war-of-1892-the-battle-of-imagbon/

deomelo: 1. PDP/Jona sold our power assets to their friend's and cronies with little or no knowledge regarding electricity from generation to distribution.
2. The cronies they sold the power assets to also didn't have funds to improve and grow their operations with which today happens to be one of their major problems, no liquidity that is.
3. You said the DISCO are corrupt thieves, but Jona and his gangs sold our power assets to them and their crooked conies anyways.
4. Ok, the DISCOS and GENCOS must expand their operations for smooth and effective services, build MW capacity and delivery, but they don't have funds and banks won't loan them 1 kobo.
5. On top of the reduction in tariff, where or how do you suggest they get money from?
6. So, the DISCOs and GENCOs don't have funds and you don't want to give them funds in form of tariffs, where do you go from here and please explain to us the solutions and way forward.
You people sound really really confused and you have zero clue per what you are defending or supporting. Everything to you poeple is PDP vs APC. Why don't you tell us what the DISCOS did with all the money govement gave them? Why don't you tell the govement to pay their debts to the DISCOS. |

The NERC agreed to incremental power and incremental tarrifs. If at this point you agree with all the gibberish Amadi posted on the front page of this thread then I honestly give up. Nigeria may never be rescued when people continue to think the way a lot of you people think. Praising your enemies for striking you repeatedly and stealing from you. And castigating your true friends for fighting for you. Tufia! Who are your enemies and who are your friends..? Do you know how much my business burn on fuel every month and the DISCOS your are defending will still bring their crazy bill worth 500k to my office? You're are here Justifying increase in tariffs even when you know the DISCOS are Corrupted thieves. And they will never be truthful to both the customers and government. So you believe Fashola and doubt Amadi. Because one is APC and the other PDP. But you forget Fashola said this. Tariff is not fixed by the minister; I don’t fix tariff. I have no power over it. What happened during the last tariff exercise was that I expressed an opinion of support for the tariff.
