Politics › Re: Wike Criticises NJC For Suspending Judges Accused Of Corruption by OBAGADAFFI: 8:39am On Nov 05, 2016
This move to ask judges to step aside is in favour of politicians because no judge will deliver judgment against government or a ruling party.
“The implication is that politicians can now write as many petitions alleging that they saw a judge taking brown envelope – which will warrant the judge to be asked to step aside.

“For us, politicians, we are happy with this development because if I notice that I will lose a case, then I will tell my lawyer to write a petition which will result to the judge stepping aside.
“So, in other not to be alleged to have done anything wrong, judges will not give judgment against government or the ruling party.
“This is because, if judge deliver judgment against government or the ruling party, then agencies of government will come after them,” he said.

Mr. Wike said the development portends grave danger to the judiciary arm of government and to the common man.

Wike is right on this one

@holm,

True. Maybe they need to consult me on Crisis Management. grin

The FIX and X-GEN platform from the NSE has made execution seamless or do you think there is a "broker" running around to place your order after you click Submit on iTrade.

LSE and NYSE traders don't do 5,000 units of Apple Inc. or Yahoo. They are mostly proprietary traders (portfolio managers) hence you see them always trying to take positions.

A FBN Securities cannot do without a broker(s) because they deal with Institutional/Foreign Clients but a MorganCapital can actually do without one because they are focused on Retail (iTrade).

Finally, are we not all "brokers" cheesy and anybody can run a system in Nigeria.

Cheers mate.
We're not all brokers.
Some are traders and some are brokers. grin

Brokers do more than trading, they are involved in negotiations, cross deals and reporting.

LEADCAPITAL do both fund management and stock broken.

One of the requirements for a running a stock broken firm, is to have a broker.

Don't put your money in firm without a broker on the floor, such firms, don't have access to deals and decision on the floor, and their traders loss out.

First of: You need to understand we are in the 21st Century. The era of "on the floor trading" is now becoming archaic. Who goes to the floor again? Majorly "analogue brokers". You definitely won't see the Top firms on the Floor of the Exchange trading when you can remotely trade wherever you are.

Brokers are important; Not quite especially if you have a self-driving platform like iTrade. (Yes - For Execution Only firms)

Are they necessary; Yes
Unfortunately you're wrong.

If Technology haven't replaced brokers on the LSE and NYSE how will the technology replaced brokers in Nigeria.

There is nothing like a self driving platform anywhere in the world. Weather it's SAGE, Oracle, I trades, SAP or ERP solutions, you always need qualified personnel to run the system.

This platforms are not as easy as you see them, much of the work are done at the backend by the Brokers.

A birdie said they had no broker trading for them which is against NSE stipulated rules coupled with corporate governance issues.. Now, i heard they have employed some brokers to man the trading desk.

The suspension is just temporary, and they should be back up soonest.

Don't quote me though
This is difficult to believe.

If they have no broker on the floor trading for them, it means they've got big problems.

Brokers are the must important staff in any stock broken firm.

ImoRiver:
Because military rule is cheap and devoid of due process. No senate, no reps, no councilors, no PAs and all the leakages that have to do with democracy. Our democracy is heading to 18 years and we are yet to achieve 1/3rd of the infrastructures put in place by the military despite enjoying 7 years of mega oil boom between 2006 and 2014.
Best comment so far.

The military dont need the debate with anybody before building infrastructure.

In Fact they can afford to demolish millions of homes without compensation, to build a dual carriage road.

It's the man that wears the condom, not the woman.

Even if she carries one million condoms in her bag, and the mans says no to the condom, you either do the sex or take a walk.

Why give yourself stress over the man's decision.

Bloody Flatee! You should hide your head in shame. I'm in the banking industry and I know what these companies do after accessing forex. They don't import nothing. You should be able to read between the lines. He deliberately made this noise to blackmail the FG. They made their real profits from round tripping and this is what I know. How many times does he import machinery every year? Abi, does he import raw tomato too?
Bigot, what has his tribe got to do with this discussion.

Did read the part in bold?

........... they won’t give us approval to use our own money (about $460,000) generated from our foreign operations to import our raw materials. They won’t also check dumping because of the powerful nature of the import cabals.

Why is the government blocking Exporters from accessing their Foreign remittance.

MAN is complaining, LCCI is shouting.

You are here throwing tribal insults.

The president has said it all, those who want to leave should leave.

You know our brothers with playing victims cards, I see many of them claiming Dangote was given access to dollars for his refinery but they overlooked the fact that Dangote Tomato factory stopped production too not quite long. Dollars cannot be provided for every Dick & Harry, you know how many billionaires would be created at the detriment of the economy?

Besides, politics and business is all about interests, when GEJ was there, you people were busy running around for his reelection bid forgetting your economic interests like things like this but Dangote seized the opportunity of his co-Aboki being in power to further his interests. Our brothers are poor politicians.

Everything is not about tribalism.

Learn to read properly before making comments.

They won’t give us forex to import machinery, machine spare parts and raw materials for processing Nigerian fresh tomatoes into paste in our Lagos factory and they won’t give us approval to use our own money (about $460,000) generated from our foreign operations to import our raw materials. They won’t also check dumping because of the powerful nature of the import cabals.
