Wonder why Fidson is not in this bus too
OBAGADAFFI:
I don't know what is wrong with Fidson .
Leverage (working for the banks), disappointing FY19 result (after a rights issue in 1st quarter), declining revenue YoY, Family grip, e.t.c.
Perhaps investors want to watch their Q1 2020 performance from the sidelines before jumping in.

My opinion though.
I remember this posts about Fidson.

Ok, what is all this psychological gymnastic about UACN

If you see profitability in UACN - BUY and Hold

IF you don't see profitability in UACN- Sell and don't Buy

But if you are in doubt - Buy small fold your hand and watch.

No body here in on the Board of UACN , all we are relying on are the Information supplied to the NSE.

Godlylifeoneart:
There is no crime in buying UACN. we are all wishing dz conglomerate to reach the zenith of returning profits for investors.
Can you tell me what happened to UACN after selling UACN registrars to Afriprudent in 2013?
No improvement in performance.
One of the most disastrous holdings in the history of conglomerates in the world.
What made you think that the unbundling will do the Magic?
UACN always have a ready made excuses for poor performaces, in 2015, the terrible report was blamed on poor purchasing power of consumers, the inauguration of a new government was also blamed for the disastrous performance of UPDC prop. This 2020 would be put on COVID-19. lol.
In all the 12 years of declining profits, there was no mentioning of corruption and poor management decisions in asset acquisitions
A company with less than 3 billion common shares is dropping about 50 to 150 basis points at the sales of less than M100 units.
Bra, something is not right with UACN.
I think the management is the problem. The 39 yr old group managing director appears to be occupying the post on a platter of gold.
he appears to be heading the way of Wale Tinubu
When Shonekan was the chairman of UACN, they were the epitome of equity returns and performance.
like some1 mentioned, uacn is gradually going the way of OANDO. You must have a view of at least 10 to 15 yrs before you can expect any token on equity return. They clearly state on their web page that ( We invest with a long-term view which enables us add meaningful and sustainable value to each company within our portfolio)
The subsidiaries are improving and ongoing re-branding is commendable.
The calamities that befell UACN started in 1998, and there has been no improvement in earning and fortune.
The logistic division was in comatose before imperial logistics of South Africa bailed them out with $2.4 M investment in form of equity stake. MDS logistics is technically working for imperial logistics. This is warren buffel way of investing. Look for a distressed company, invest in them by way of preferential equity stakes, if thing do not work out well, take over the company coz you are already their life-wire.
Mr biggs, we do not even know the owner. The famous brand or UACN.
Bra, the holding nature of uacn subsidiaries is so complex and goes beyond the comprehension of ordinary share holders.
it appears the investors of nowadays are only buying the parent company name .(uacn)
No wonder, the share price has been plummeting since 1998 till date.
uacn registrars is dead. One of the best in the country during the analogue era.
So many subsidiaries of UACN are dead or defunct.
UNIC was moribund, dead and transformed to UNIC Holdings
property division in comatose.
UACN gala is facing the strongest competition from Rite food AND Chi
The annoying thing about uacn, once a subsidiary is recording success, they quickly sell it or divest from it and hand it over to one of the cabals.
The DNA(corruption) of Nigeria is boldly engraved in this company.
very soon, the MDS logistics will go. i guess the money realized from the stakes reduction in 2019 august was used in paying the insulting dividend of 0.10 kobo. I wonder why they have to pay out the money after recording a loss. the management could have shared it among themselves instead of paying investor 0.10 kobo.
Despite all this, the assets to debt ratio is encouraging for futuristic investors.
for decision making, read dz link

https://nairametrics.com/2019/09/04/what-uacn-decision-to-un-bundle-updc-means-for-its-shareholders/

https://nairametrics.com/2020/04/20/uacn-incurs-n14-6-billion-write-down-of-its-real-estate-business/

2019 (Millions NGN)
Total Assets 107,595.26
Total Liabilities 47,053.85
Debt to Assets 6.90%

THE PROBLEM WITH AVERAGE INVESTORS IS THAT WE DO NOT INVESTIGATE QUOTED COMPANIES BEFORE WE INVESTED ,DESPITE ALL THE INFORMATION BEING AVAILABLE FREE ON THE INTERNET. WE AWAIT THE TA ANALYSTS TO GUIDE US. THIS SHOULD NOT BE.
I don't really like you conclusion.

Most retail investors knows what is going on with UACN, but decide to take the risk.

Signs of pullback in the health sector going into the week.

M & B (those who bought @ 3.23 on Thursday where trying to exit @ 3.12 on Friday with bids getting lower. when UCAP was giving us 50k @ 2.80, is it illiquid m&b @25k that we will be chasing. tufiakwa grin grin Don't chase a moving train.

NEIMETH (has reached its 52wk high. Will it break and form a new support. we watch).

Is possible if m&b drops, fidson and gsk will follow suit.
GSK and MB have shown the lead in health sector.

Neimeth and Fidson what to ride the tide, but family issues is not helping matters grin

Your analysis is spot on!
Neimeth is so illiquid and lacking in volume that it doesn’t even trade 1million units on most days.
M&B is most likely to pulll back but FIDSON still has potential to reach N3 especially if their result is around the corner.
CAVEAT: This is not a buy/sell recommendation.
Fidson might not get to N3.

There is no fuel for that journey.

People had the courage to buy during maximum panic. Why can't they hold when the panic has gone?

I trade by myself. I would click on the stock I want to purchase and click on "buy" and use market price but it always shows cancelled the following day.

The one purchase that went through was Zenith. When I clicked on buy the price was 15.10 and the system bought it at 15.35. I dont even understand how that happened.
Your order will cancel if you don't specify "time in force" either :-

Day order( trade will cancel if not fulfilled after close of trade ).

Good Till date (trade can run for 3 to 7days).

Whenever you are buying or selling a stock always note that other traders are buying and selling.

So the price will always change, depending of the bids and offers.

The final price will include charges.

Please what broker do you use?

I am a newbie in stocks investment and I currently use United Capital as my stock broker but they are quite slow in executing mandates or maybe there is something I am not doing right
Slow how?

Do you trade yourself or send trades to them?

Because, I also use United Capital and I trade myself on https://investnow.ng, trade execution take less than 2min (except on full bid or full offer).

Don't get me wrong, I am pro investment, there is no month that I don't invest. It is what I invest in that varies.

But you can't invest all your funds to the extent that you don't have cash that can take care of emergency and then resort to selling your Investments before maturity at a loss.

Cash flow from your Investments will put you in a position to invest regularly
Yes i understand your point.
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by OBAGADAFFI: 10:58am On May 14, 2020
emmanuelewumi:
That still doesn't negate the fact that having cash that can last you for 6 months of your expenses and having a steady cash generating assets and Investments which you can always reinvest on a regular basis is King.

Most investments requires time to appreciate or give returns, if you are not liquid you will sell too soon and regret if the same Investment now give an upside returns of 80% or more 6 months after you have sold.

Cash gives an investor the staying power
Yes it is important to have cash for regular operations and expenses .

But the value of cash is in it purchasing powers.

Investments can close that gap by generating profits.

Any investment with 15% -20% in short-term will beat inflation.

emmanuelewumi:
Your assets and Investments will respond and adjust to inflation and currency devaluation and cough out higher cash.
Asset value can grow above inflation if properly positioned, but cash will not.

emmanuelewumi:
Cash is King and will always be king. The cash can be in highly liquid asset, or cash flow from income generating assets. Cash is King does not mean you won't buy investments or income generating assets.

Ability of the investment or asset to generate steady cash will be the basis of committing funds
Inflation is the enemy of Cash.

This is why i am a believer of emmanuelewumi's Long-term investment school of thought, i dont bother tracking things daily anymore. There is an adrenaline that comes when you are online, you will be tempted to buy or sell something. This was how i sold 100k unit of Zenith that i bought at N11 for N13. I still cant forgive myself till now. Bless your soul Rabbidoracle, you are good at what you do.
This is what I call careless JIJO.

I avoid JIJO with any stock in the following categories :-
1. Pays good dividends.
2. Doesn't reverse to previous low price.

JIJO is good on Stocks with high Volatility

What you wrote here is different from my experience with another app CHAKA..all the companies that paid me dividend, from Gilead to Altria, and recently AT&T,Verizon too,all of them paid my dividend straight to my wallet, then i exchanged them on the platform, then withdrew to my bank account. This is for US stocks
Then for local stocks, i dont buy there,i use Meritrade and ARM..but people buy Nigerian stocks, cscs and chn numbers are sent to them.. they now DOWNLOAD E DIVIDEND MANDATE from relevant registrars, fill and sign, stamped by their bankers and sent to registrars OR submit at their bank. Many have gotten their dividends this way. May be Trove is different.
Ideally, dividends should be paid into your bank account, not your wallet.
