It's not that people don't want to add an extra or more to their source of income. A Nigerian job will drain all your time and strength that when you get home, look for what to eat and bath, you are already sleeping.

note: Don't let your Boss Know that you have a side hustle if you can. na that time your query go dey enter everyday.

You can actually outsource. I know of my guys who freelance, they get the job and outsource it for a lesser amount. Indie publishers who have never written a book. Search for emeka ossai on youtube

How many 400k salary jobs are available in Nigeria? How many percent of graduates have such jobs? What happens if your employer suddenly ask you to go from that 400k job?

There are Very few jobs that can pay 400k a month, but with the Internet, 400k is achievable. No need to go into crime just take advantage of videos on youtube to horn ur skill and people will demand for it. I moved from 16k a month to between 300k to 400k every month. Don't wait for things to happen, it's a rat race in this country and to survive you must think differently. The millions is in your laptop connected to the Internet. Not yahoo yahoo o. Get Skills that white folks will be ready to pay for ur service. A friend of mine just 25 earns over 800k working on fiverr, upwork and he is also a self publisher on kdp. Please Nigerian youths, u only have one life, think outside the box and earn something decent, take advantage of the cyberspace. My 2cent.

Career / Re: Pursuing Money Vs Education: Should I Drop Out Of School? by obamartins(m): 6:13pm On Jun 09, 2019
Premiumwriter:
Op school is very very important.

Before you think of quitting school for a business, I think you might want to check very well and maybe try to evaluate the business first.

For instance, how much control do you have over the business?

Control is very important. The website you're working on, if they decide to shit down today, downsize or change their policy will it affect you?

If yes, then you have little or no control over the business.

Take my case for instance, I was making good money on fiverr sometime last year. I thought it would last but it didn't.

Fiverr updated their policy, that they will require ID card for verification and they gave only 14 days for you to obtain an ID and verify your account.

I don't have an ID and my account got suspended.

Since then I've been trying to stand up but haven't even been able to make a single sale on the website after creating another account for over 5 months now.

As such it is not advisable that you quit school for it.

Also think long-term. People may say certification is useless but in reality employers still ask for it. Try and get it.

If you can write well, switch to kdp.amazon.com. Also publish your books on D2D or Publishdrive. Thank me later.

What freelancing platform do you use and what services do you offer.
I've been upwork for more than 2 months now and I've not been able to get any job
Career / Re: The Benefits Of Working As A Freelancer by obamartins(m): 12:10am On Jun 03, 2019
Passive because you can still earn money without actively working. Books i published in 2017 are still bringing in cash. That's making money while u sleep.

generationz:

When you kindle publishers say "passive income" I become confused

You guys practically publish at least two books monthly .

Also I don't think a book released 6months - 1year ago can bring in as much as it did when released or am I getting it all wrong?
Career / Re: The Benefits Of Working As A Freelancer by obamartins(m): 6:58pm On Jun 02, 2019
freelancing saving life since APC took over power. Mine is passive income though. Over $1000 monthly into dorm acct every month, Bank Manager be calling me Sir like Kilode.

can I publish in different niches
eg 30 books in 30 niches?

Ofcourse. Spreading your reach is the name of the game. But you should have a core niche where you write with ease. Just in case you want to build a following. I write in over 4 niches with pen names.

I need your help regarding the rings, what I’m seeing online is so exorbitant...I’ve sent u a mail, pls reply so we can talk. Thanks
Just walk to where they change dollars, you will also find hausa men that buy and sell gold. You can buy the engagement ring separate from the wedding bands or get all together if u can afford it. Go for the one without much or huge stones as the weight determines the price.

Hello @obamartins

I have a few questions regarding kindle publishing
Do you write your books yourself?
like how many per month?

Did you only watch tutorials on YouTube or you had a mentor?

can you recommend YouTube and udemy tutorials on kindle publishing?

1. Do you write your books yourself? Yes, I write my books. But if you can't write, you can outsource. A good book can go for as much as N25,000 for a 15k Word file on upwork.com.
2. like how many per month? When i started, i wrote up to 4 in a month. These days i am lazy, from January till March i have written six. I am presently writing my 7th for the year which by God's Grace i should conclude before mid-May.

I just stumbled on my marriage note where I wrote down all my expenses while I prepared for my marriage and decided to share. This topic is to guide those planning for their wedding on how much on the average they should budget for their marriage. Although the amount you will spend depends on what you want and the tribe/family you are marrying into. I actually budgeted N1,200,000 (1.2 million) but ended up spending close to 2million.

I got married November 2018 to my beautiful esan girlfriend of 4 years. Here is the breakdown:

Pre-wedding
1. Lab test for HIV, Genotype and pregnancy (as instructed by the church) - N5000
2. Transportation to take her to see my parents - N10,000
3. Ring 18 karat gold (engagement, and wedding rings) - N75,000 (from aboki)
4. Wedding certificate - N4000
5. Wedding seminar organized by my church - N4000

Federal Registry:
1. Affidavit for spinsterhood and bachelorhood-N2000
2. Main fee - N34,000

Traditional marriage
1. Drinks - N140,000
2. Yams - N40,000
3. Salt - N4,000
4. Bride price - N10,000
5. Make up - N20,000
6. Food - N200,000
7. Transportation - N20,000
8. Photograph - N6000
9. Canopy - N6000
10. Palmwine - N2000
11. Palm oil - N12,000
12. Native kola - N3000
13. Introduction - N12,000 (did introduction same day as traditional marriage)
I love esan marriage, they don't put hole in one's pocket

White Wedding
1. Drinks and food - N300,000
2. Reception hall - N105,000 (a Catholic church event hall)
3. Decoration - N50,000
4. DJ plus MC - N35,000
5. Guest house accommodation for my parents - N15,000
6. Souvenir 100 unit (Jotter, bag and notebooks) - N93,000
7. Photographer - N20,000 (soft copies)
8. Video coverage - (Hmmmm! Money no reach)
9. My wife's wedding gown - N35,000 (rent)
10. Me and my bestman's shirt and suit - N36,000
11. My wife's makeup and accessories - N50,000
12. Hotel room for after wedding panpangolo - N18,000 for 2 nites
13. My shoe - N2,000 (it's a long story)
14. Cake (4 steps) - N15,000 (my wife baked it if not e for pass that amount)
15. Transportation for my parents back home - N10,000

This are the little I could remember, I will update as soon as I get them. It was supposed to be a budget marriage but I spent close to N2,000,000 despite cutting off as much expenses as permitted. What was ur marriage budget? Did you stick to your budget or did some unforseen expenses prop up? Please share for the benefit of those planning theirs.

yeah! i do train, but your determination to work hard will determine if i will continue to train you or not. If i am to train you, you will have to sacrifice your nights. It is important you do that to attain success. Note: I don't do fictions, non-fictions only.

Hi,

Good to meet you here. I have a kdp account I created since 2015. I have published about 5 books. Last month, I made only $14. This month, I have only made about $8.

Could you help me with ideas on how to get my books to start selling?

Also, I learned that writing on good niches is the key. Are you kind enough to share niche ideas with me?

Thanks.

There are tonnes of materials on youtube that will help you, just take your time. But a simple tip I will give you is this, don't write fiction, go for non fictions. Secondly look for books that are doing well in the non fiction niche and map your books using their table of content in the "look in" to write yours. Finally, avoid plagiarism by all means to avoid termination of account. Tools that will help you scale are (1) Kdprocket - this will help you in your research for titles that are converting (2) copyscape or plagiarismchecker - this will help you avoid plagiarism and (3) Grammarly - this will help you avoid grammatical and punctuation errors.

Then watch all videos on keywords.

With this, you will scale faster as a self publisher. It is great not depending on Nigeria's economy for your income.

Already publishing my books on Amazon and my audiobooks on audible and itune. Adding an author's blog to get those email list rolling. That should raise my sales to minimum $2,500 per month. What else can I say. I have control of my time and making good money from the comfort of my home. Will be investing up to N70,000 on an author's blog to keep my readers/fans.

Finally, I will diversify by the second quarter of 2019 by pushing at least one million naira into treasury bills.

What more can I say? 2018 was beautiful, 2019 is already making sense with so much prospects.

Men! this life is funny until God opens your eyes to see the billions of dollars on the internet. I have done several crazy jobs and received peanuts called salary until I asked God for direction and He came to my rescue. I worked in a place where the owner of the company treated everyone like shit. I took the bold step to walk away in 2017 despite having nothing to fall back on. A couple of months ago he called as was Like "Can you please come back, I will increase your salary and pay you guys regularly. I asked him a simple question. Sir, can you pay me up to N500,000 a month? He was proposing N80,000 a month from 60k which he was paying but not regular. I told him, sir, you can't pay me.

Today, I earn over N300,000 a month from the comfort of my home. I am not cut out for 8am - 5pm jobs God forbid. Folks no need to search for jobs, you can make it on the internet without defrauding anyone. All I do is write books and publish on Amazon. All the materials you need to write on any topic is on Youtube, stop the laziness and get your butts down to work. Serve no master. The problem with our so-called graduates is lack of research and laziness. They don't have the energy to research on what will put food on their table. I will never search for a job any day any time. Targeting N1,000,000 a month from book sales before June 2019. Will be spreading my tentacles to Amazon FBA very soon. By The end of 2019, i should average N5,000,000 per month by God's Grace. The millions is in your laptop connected to the internet.

PS: Nobody should PM for any tutorial or guide. I won't respond. All you need is on youtube and the internet, Take your time say one month to research and you will be glad you did. Convert Youtube Videos into books and sell on Amazon.

Final comment: Any computer scientist looking for a job in this era of ICT is a fool.

Attached is my sales report for last month.
