Thanks guys. Will enter the frequency later today. |
Hello George D and All, Please is KKTV(our tv & Elijah tv) still operational ? I am asking because I've been out of town for a while and since I came back; nothing. The signal is still there but no audio or video. Thanks |
Hello George, Thanks a bunch. I know I can always rely on you. I need the 50 watts to charge my 35ah deep cycle given to me FOC by a friend and I mainly want to use it to power all my DC lights, phones and to keep other smaller items always charged up. Thanks. PS: In recent weeks I discovered that my daughter's friends will bring their parents phones and other stuff to charge in my house since I heard them discussing that the lights never go off in my house. Sometimes there will be as many as 6 of them in her room with their phones plugged in while busy twitting or facebooking. I want to isolate my BIG batteries and let them use the 35ah and solar panel. I have not had reason to start up my gen for like 7 weeks now. GREEN is the way to go. |
Hi George D and All, Please do you know how much smaller watts solar panel go for now. Say 20watts, 50watts and 100watts. Also the price range of charge controllers. Your reply will be highly appreciated. Thanks. |
Hi George and all, What is with all Multi-Tv channels mine has been showing no signal since Sunday morning. Any info from them ? pls let me know. |
keep being available. This is a forum where discussions take place and and no secrets are kept. My advice, post your price as requested and you can then negoitiate with prospective clients on individual basis. Good luck. |
maybe Toyota and Landrover don merge or what do u think? |
@pennywise Now u are hating pls. substantiate what u just posted. |
I think what is important is to ask how long has Dizzani worked and where and what investments has she made to have that money. The husband is wealthy, the big boys are from the husband's first wife. Dizanni only bore the little boy among them for him. If I remember correctly, I think she was a director in Shell Petroleum b4 she was pulled into government and pls check her qualification and years of experience. NOTE: Daniel Amokachi back then owned a private jet (don't know if he still owns it). Our men of God most of whom own private jets. Private individuals in this country own private jets. It gets better. assuming the family of 6 is travelling abroad for the holidays and were to fly business class all the way and back which is not less than N2m each totalling N12m and they can rent a private jet for say N14m round trip, that does not mean they own the jet. Just because musicians dance around exotic cars in their videos does not mean they own them. Some may not even make enough money in their lifetime to buy those cars but still they pose with it. I own and drive a 20 year car with no AC but on my wife's birthday I hired a 2011 Prado for N20,000 and took her to a fancy restaurant for a really good 3 course meal worth 6k. We even took some pix with the Prado and me sitting at the owners side. It was memorable and it lasted for about 6 hrs and my daughter was posing as if we owned the car. My point is unless it can be confirmed that they own that jet it still remains guess! guess!! guess!!!. |
@George and Ame, Just checked the advert again and obviously it was too good to be true. The advert was like this; 1KVA/12v 3.5KVA/24v 5KVA/48V N5,000 N15,000 N30,000 discount discount discount Note that there was no mention of the amount that the inverters were going for. This is kind of deceptive if you ask me. Sorry guys my bad. |
O' Boy, Good, now that u are very sure, u know exactly what u are getting into. U can give them the shock at a discount and u will still have change after buying regular lower arm and shocks because complete front shock with spring (used) goes for around 8k and lower arm (used) is 4k. |
@patlead, Just to be very sure a conversion has been done on your car, check to see if your front brake cylinder has a place where u fit in the head of a shaft. The front shafts may have been removed. If it does have it, then you have to change the shock and lower arm during your conversion. Do not do it in phases like I did it will cost you more money. The IX front Shocks is 28K and lower arm is 18K (No less). It gets better, they are so difficult to get because according to an article I read some years back less than 2000 units of this very model was produced by BMW and a couple of them has ended up on our shores of which I own 1 of them and its like you own another and I have seen quite a few on the road. You will know they are distinct because they are padded (especially the 89 -90 models). Note: Do not allow any mechanic to tell you that u can still use the 325IX engine after conversion, Its a big lie. The oil pump is the show stopper there. The steering of the IX crossed under the sump (Oil Pan). believe me its a very funny construction and the oil pump is on one side. At the end of the day, the engine block must be changed to I6 proper. I say this because "NOTHING TEACHES LIKE EXPERIENCE" Note also that you will have to change your steering rack to normal e30 which is 8k now if the conversion has not been done. On a softer note, check the engine properly to be sure because it may just have the 325IX stamp at the back but it's actually 325i or 325is. (I still drive around with mine showing it's an IX while its just a 1.8 litre daily knock about) I am sure oga Seina can throw more light on that. |
@patlead, Pogo is short for Peugeot or maybe my spelling was wrong but that is what we used to call it those days. With the right hoses, u can still use the radiator. Try to check your car again, does it have any front shaft ? If it does not, then you need not change the shocks and lower arm (Ball Joints). Just do the engine conversion and you are good to go. Hope it helps. |
Here is a list of things that must ebe changed. 1. ECU-- this used to be 3K for the I4 (May be a little more than that now. 2 Gear Box (Transmission) bought mine for 5K then should be around 6.5K by now 3. Propellar shouldn't be more than 2K mine was 1K 4. Engine 1.8litres. Mine was 35K and as at last check it was 36K 5. Air flow metre. replaced mine February of 2010 for 4K 6. New Exhaust system. Bought mine (Backport) for 13K then and for centreport I used a Peugeot (not sure which model) centreport which was welded to mine when I felt the cost was not worth it. The pogo then was 2K and its still there till date. 7. Engine Wire (Harness) was 3K. should still be the same amount. 8 Radiator was 5k. Hope this helps. PS: there will be some welding and a little extra expenses for service parts and all. My advice for you is to drive the car there prior to any work so they will tell you exactly what you need. and be sure to sell the other engine back to them. If you want to be shrewed like them, price the engine in bits (that is price the parts separately just as you bought urs. Though they know u do not need it so they will always want to have their way. Remember service parts too like plug, oil and filters. Also is your car an all Wheel Drive ? |
@ameboperoo There was an advert for cyberpower (I think) on Tuesday 13/12/2011 PUNCH newspaper for their 5kva going for N30k and the 1KVA going for N5k. I am not sure if ita promo or something because the buyright, biz website was included and they even recommended PRAG batteries. |
@patlead I did my conversion 3 years ago but I can give you the number of my part seller at Ladipo (Lagos) he is the one that introduced those guys to me. His name is Nickolas (NICK). Tell him you are from Mr. Peter his number is 07037248057. |
@Poster, Yes as Ikenna mentioned, Its very possible and I just changed the upper clutch of my 1990 3 series for less than N1000 this past Saturday. My car was a I6 2.7 litres IX (four wheel drive) But due to difficulty getting the Shocks and lower arm replaced, I opted for convertion to regular Shocks which led to my replacing the engine to 325 proper because the Oil pump could not work. However, 3 years ago I changed the engine from I6 to I4 and its been moving me just fine as I do mostly city driving which was easy on fuel. Within the 6 years that I have owned the car, I have also owned a Peugeot prestige 406 which was milking me dry b4 I sold it then followed by a corolla which I also sold because I was tired of frequenting my mechanic. This BMW has suffered lots of abuse from me but I just can't let it go yet as I plan to make it an antique and keep it. It has really served me well and I have gotten to know a lot about it that I am always happy fixing minor faults on it. It has never left me stranded. The downside is that the electricals are where you have to be very careful after your convertion. Make sure it is expertly done. PS: I have seen 5 series body fitted with I4 motors. cheers. |
Thanks George for always being there. |
Hi George D, Pls. advise. Is it possible to get a charge controller and connect my 50ah battery charger to it then to the battery so that it can regulate the charging of the battery or is there an external regulator that are sold separately. Thanks. |
Hi George, ThankS for the reply. I think I may have to find a way to change some of those power hungry appliances to DC. I was surfing the net and found there are DC fridges and other dc powered appliances. I am just looking for a way to maximise the use of the power of my batteries and PV panels and reduce the waste that occurs during conversion from DC to AC. I have found out on the net that there so many ways to get by and live a quality life even though there is not much cash available to throw around. Not to digress, but to inspire others still in doubt about alternative energy, In late 2008, after so many months reading your posts and that of others in FTA and finally when thread was opened, I made up my mind and went for it with a 100ah deep cycle battery which I got for around N24k then I ransacked the storage area in my house and found an 8 year old UPS which I had removed the 7Ah battery and dumped. Thicker and longer wire were attached and that was the end of using my 950VA tiger generator (which the mech I gave it to for fixing after a year of non usage has converted to his own) Anyways, I later bought a 50ah charger for charging the battery as the ups was not suited for such. Well I had other reasons for buying the charger and not an inverter which has long paid off and is still paying off as I type (severally my car battery had gone dead at home and a 10minutes charge is enough to get the car going and allow the alternator to do the rest. So 3 years on and the battery is still working like I just got it. The down side about the charger is that it has no regulator but it does have a circuit breaker which always trips off whenever there is a power surge or if the charger is left ON when power is restored. FOR ALL THOSE WHO WANTS TO TAKE A JUMP AT IT, PLS. DO. IT PAYS OFF IN THE LONG RUN. While my neighbors battle with their generators, I just smile within me and when they ask how much it cost to get the package and you mention like N50k for a start, you need to see the look on their faces. however one of them just bought another gen for 95K and he is already complaining about how much petrol he uses every week. Finally, (I know I keep telling this story but I just can't help myself, pls. indulge me) The first day I was dragging the battery into our apartment my wife said to me "U HAVE BROUGHT IN ANOTHER DUSTBIN AGAIN 'Abi'). Well to cut the story short 2 weeks later the PHCN transformer in my street went dead for 10 months and within that time I was moving the battery to my office for charging so we can use it at night (The heat then was killing) and whenever I say that I do have strength to carry the battery to the car, she will always say "LET ME HELP U DEAR". Also, my family became experts in power management. Never leave any lights ON unless you are there and really need it. PS: With a 21" TV of 80 watts, 4 CFL lights of 15watts each and a KOAN decoder of 30wats, the fully charged 100ah battery last for upto 4.5hrs before we go to bed with 2 standing fans on overnight. Honestly, you can't beat that and the automatic changeover is second to non no matter what any one tries to say. THOSE BATTERIES ARE REVOLUTIONARY |
Hi George and All, Thanks for all the good advice you have been giving on this thread. I have been using my inverter for a over 2 years and I am thinking of upgrading to solar soon. My question is, can a 100 watts solar panel power a 60 watts DC pump. Also, during the peak of the sun, is it possible to connect a DC appliances direct to solar panels without the use of charge controllers (That is when not being used for charging of batteries). I have this idea that DC appliances consume less power than the same AC rated ones and I am thinking of how to maximise the potentials of the sun and best use of the panels. |
@Beaf I agree with all that u have said except that part of frosbel. even in the so called advanced countries if incidents or accidents are not reported, emergency services do not just arrive uninvited. Did the poster mention in his post that he called emergency services and they did not come ? We are citizens and it is our right or is it privilege now to complain and criticize our govt when they misdo. However, I have witnessed in this same Lagos state Where I called the Lagos State Ambulance Service at the scene of an accident and it took them less than 10 mins to come and treated the minor injuries free of charge while the seriously wounded were given first aid before being taken to the hospital. |
@frosbel I think u are the useless one here. Did the poster tell u that he was there all through the day to report that there was no rescue efforts there ? Once una don manage cross over to other countries na so so mis yarn una go do |
@ poster, what's the price and what are the other specifications such as range covered, and the the number of handsets available. pls reply ASAP |
Hello All, I am a newbie when it comes to accounting. I have a test in an accounting firm early next week and I have been hinted that what they use mostly is sage pastel evolution. I have been able to install the program and open a new company. My challege right now is how to enter data from source documents. I just don't know where to click. A kind friend mentioned TRANSACTIONS but I am still lostt. Pls. help so that I should be able to at least do something. I am very good in Peachtree and Quickbook as well as Tally but this Pastel evolution is a big challenge on its own. Pls. help in what ever way u can. my email address is petokonji@yahoo.co.uk I really want to make the best use of this opportunity. Thanks All. |
@all, does anyone know why shalom tv does not ha ve audio ? |
@all Pls. is it possible to install windows operating system on a usb connected external harddrive ? This is because my laptop does not recognise any hard drive i put on it. The model is DELL INSPIRON 1150 that came with windows XP |
@all Shalom TV and CRTV is not thesame. I just rescanned my DAARbox and CRTV is showing HARRY PORTER while shalom is showing another movie but without audio. I think shalom is one of CRTV's new channels. but no audio somebody should pls. comment more on this. |
For commercial use it is a bit of heavy investment, but for home use, inverters are far better than generators as they are eco friendly and requirement little or no maintenance throughout their life span. It is one piece of equipment you will have and be rest assured it will work. Also, remember the recouping of money spent on fueling the generator, you cannot match that any day. Those thinking of using it with air conditioners should pls. think twice unless u have the stomach for it. If u use a prepaid PHCN meter at home, u will notice how fast the unit decreases when the AC is on. The same thing will happen when u are on battery. The truth is that it takes more time to charge but the user friendly nature is more advantageous. Imagine not running around when PHCN strikes and ur neighbour's generator is given him one heck of a tough time to start. If u can afford for lighting only, just use it. But for Running computers and freezers, Its a very heavy investment that might take a long time to recoup. peace. |
I have been using a 650va Superb UPS for more than 3 years now. The beauty of Inverter/UPS is that once you start to use it, u can never stop. I bought the UPS in 1998 and later dumped it (thank God I did not throw it away) so when it was time to get a 1 KVA inverter for N28,000 I had a rethink and got a 50ah battery charger instead for 20k and a 100ah deep cycle battery for 22,500. Since then I use the ups with the battery fully charged for 4.5hrs every evening with my 21" 90 watts TV, 25 watts decoder and 2 15watts cfl bulbs the above loads are used continuously with other bulbs coming on n off NOTE: once the UPS blinks, the TV and decoder is turned off by 11.30 and 2 standing fans in the bedrooms are turned on with all lights off till 6am in the morning and the UPS will not blink. I still use it to blast music for about 1 hour before I leave home for work. With the 50ah battery charger, it takes approximately 5 hours to get fully charged. and with my 2.5kva generator I can charge the battery with the freezer on and while I watch TV and recouping almost 100% of what i spent to buy the fuel used to run the gen. That it the beauty of inverter. Even when you are on gen, you are still saving money spent on fuel. between Oct 2009 and Sept.2010, my street was in total darkness and my inverter was the saving grace from the heat and noise. IF YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO DO IT BIG TIME, JUST TRY MY STYLE. A brand new UPS goes for about 5k in computer village and you can get a technician to use soldering iron to disable one leg of the tiny speaker that beeps that annoying sound. You will know when the battery is low because the light will start to blink continously and not at intervals. PS: my battery still gives thesame output till date. You will be amazed what u will find. |
