@Jayron,

Where are u, tried calling your number over the weekend but wasn't going through.  I still have not nailed Nilesat so take note. I can call on u anytime  for weekend tracking.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by obijack: 9:03am On Mar 08, 2010
@George D,

Thanks for the advice and I think I will be better off someone more knowledgable assisting me. Frankly, for almost 2 years that I have joined this forum, I have not been able to track W3a and what puts me off most was that the channels are all french. But now, I can even close my eyes and accurately guess where it is with my 2.4m since I know where to start tracking from.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by obijack: 12:11pm On Mar 06, 2010
@Ibaku, Enitan and all,

Thanks for the reassurance on tracking nilesat. I hope to give it a shot tonight.

Thanks again.

@George D, Ibaku  and all,

Below are the pictures of my 2.4m pan setup for Nilesat. Though they are not very clear but I am sure they will tell a lot about  my doubts about getting Nilesat.

At the moment, my W3a is  hitting 79-89%. Again I ask how possible will it be to get Nile  when the thing is so close to the  house. Otherwise recommend other birds on the east side that has entertainment as I am not much of a football person.

Your opinions, advice and recommendations will be highly appreciated.

Also, cutting the tree in the picture is totally out of the question as that tree is in another compound in another street.

Thanks all.

Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by obijack: 5:15pm On Mar 02, 2010
@Ibaku,

I already have the pics in my fone just misplaced my USB cord but I am sure to do that soon.

Thanks.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by obijack: 3:19pm On Mar 02, 2010
@Ibaku

My equipment is strong 2.4m pan and it is not motorised  the problem is that as a result of space constraints it is sitting on 4 mounted polls  which is supported by  my fence.   Though I can't say turning it is easy but it's much of a problem.

However, since I was able to get W3a, it that a guarantee that regardless of nearness to the wall as explined above that  tracking Nile is very certain.

I am contemplating getting an installer to assist but I am being restrained by the fact that I want to do it on my own to experience the joy I felt when I tracked Astra 2B, Sirius, W3a others I've been able to hunt down.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by obijack: 12:07pm On Mar 02, 2010
@all,

Any member around ogudu or Ojota area should come help in tracking my Nilesat because the thing seems to be eluding me. w3a on the 2.4 pan is 72-74%. I don't know if its because the thing is very close to the house or what. It is like 2.5 feet away from the wall of the house. But w3a is full without issues.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by obijack: 11:59am On Mar 02, 2010
@pofolo

As at 11pm yesterday, I still watched both crtv and all multitv channels are OK. I watched   JUST CAUSE on JOY TV and  ALONG CAME A SPIDER (movie) on CRTV.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by obijack: 3:49pm On Mar 01, 2010
@Toba,

I will advice u go for an mpeg 4 receiver because daar comm has been silent on what happened to daarsat.

Go for Strong 4669. Aside that the daar box is married with the card so no other card can be used on it.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by obijack: 1:32pm On Feb 27, 2010
Thank you George. Will keep the house posted.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by obijack: 12:41pm On Feb 27, 2010
@ George D,

I know u have answered most of these questions, but pls where do I now move my dish to (left or right ) from w3a position.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by obijack: 12:07pm On Feb 27, 2010
@GEORGE D,

Pls. respond to my question

plssssssssssssssssssss.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by obijack: 11:43am On Feb 27, 2010
@George D and All

Regarding my Nilesat tracking, no luck yet. I have been able to nail W3a and the quality was upto 60 on my 4653x and close to 70 on my daarbox.

What I will like to know now is do I move the dish (2.4m) futher to the right or left because the thing is almost completely facing the heavens.

And also I will need a very strong TP(s) (apart from dubai 1 and city 7) for the nile tracking. (Please the freq., pol, and symbol rate).

Thanks.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by obijack: 3:06pm On Feb 26, 2010
@hooged,

Very possible.  All u need do is get an LNB with 2 or more outputs and connect one output to one decoder at a time.

Note that both decoders are independent of each other and as a result if one is bad, it does not affect the other  but if the dish or the lnb is bad, both decoders will be affected.

Hope this helps.

PS: try to read through the earlier seasons of this thread, I bet u will answer more questions for urself and for others as well.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by obijack: 12:10pm On Feb 26, 2010
@George_D

Thks for the help. That is a big relieve and If I get u correctly, It means that My dish will almost be facing up as that of W3A.

Thanks a lot.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by obijack: 11:30am On Feb 26, 2010
@ George_D

Pls respond ASAP.  is it possibel to use thesame  (2.4) to track EW3A @ 7 degree east and Nilesat ?.

There was a diagram by  either baba-egun or fijabi where he was able to combine Nilesat, W3a Nss& and Intelsat 907 (Daarsat) back then.  How  Possible is this because this my space constraints is  breaking my heart on this Nile project.

If this is possible then I am sure I have a good chance of nailing Nilesat as w3a is very possible from my position.  My dish is in front of my House  which is  a storey building and the back is completely blocked.

Some  guys from my area are willing to help but I want to be able to give them some pointers when the need arises.

The diagram is in the attached word document.

PS: I do not want to combine LNBs I just want only Nilesat but if the attached diagram is possible then I think my chances re good.

@ George_D, Jayron and All,

This is very urgent info that I need. My nilesat project  may be in Jopardy if my calculations  of East and West are correct.

I need to know if Arabsat BADR @ 26 oE is trackable in Lagos with 2.4m as I want to be prepared if the nile signal fail to pop up.

Reason is that MBC  channels are equally on that bird and  they are my major reason for this big dish project.

Please help.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by obijack: 3:02pm On Feb 24, 2010
FTA na breeze.

Dem no dey catch breeze. I feel pity for the mopol or any law enforcement officer when dem go carry come my hood. Boys go declare immediate vigilante de wait for them.

After all the wahala to carry and mount my 2.4m pan dish then somebody go come tell me say he wants to know if I use it for private or commercial use, then he will be invited to a land of no return.

They know the areas they visit. Guys are now opting for 3m dish and looking for ajazerral cards all over.

It is cheaper and more picture friendly plus premium movies and series when there is no football.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by obijack: 11:54am On Feb 16, 2010
@ George D,

Thanks a lot for the info. May likely do the tracking next week as I am getting ready for an exam this weekend.

Will keep the house posted on how far I have gone.

Thanks.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by obijack: 10:32am On Feb 15, 2010
Hello George,

Mounted my STRONG 2.4m over the weekend (the thing was embarrassingly big after coupling it) I almost wanted to ditch the idea  even though my landlord had given his blessings  for me to go ahead with it and then I had to deal with the space constrants which led me to carry out thesame construction u did for your motorised (Pics on page 4)

However,  I  was unable to do the tracking of nilesat due to time constraints.

I would like you to please let me have a strong working  tp for Nilesat most importantly where the massive dish is actually suppose to face. I know it's 7oW and if I am correct from my location in Ogudu  Lagos, it  should face opposite direction of  DSTV  and instelsat 7/2 ku both of which I have tracked myself including ASTRA 2B.  What will the  elevation look like, and is there any skewing or twicking that the LNB requires.  It is a STRONG 4 way quad LNB.

@All

Those who can assist should post pics if possible especially those in Ogudu and environs.

@ Jayron

Oya it's your move.

PS: I am not very good at this  degree things but I know that the higher the number of the degree the lower the elevation and  so on.

@olatufu,

I have already posted the price on FTA equipment thread.

I don't think we are allowed to post that here. Though there is no clear rule about that but I think u should check the thread.
