i guess so. but i highly doubt if people will ask you such if you were to serve in the north.

princesa: It's because i see no thrill if you work where you'd serve, it makes it not exceptional or exciting. What's the excitement or trepidation that comes with living and working in a new state when you were the one who worked yourself there? Especially when it is a state you already are familiar with, what's then is the point? School in lagos, lived in lagos, served in lagos, marry and then die in lagos! Show me what else can be so boring.

Besides if everyone where to work where they'd serve, it'll just make the service process so usual and flat and offcourse defeat the main purpose to be achieved by sending people to other states other than theirs to serve.

About Sokoto, didn't know it was that religious, but i don't have a problem with Islam or its followers. I had Muslim friends back in secondary school.

What other northern states are relatively peaceful?

for sure i cannot vouch any safety in any northern state but i think zamfara, kebbi(relative high percentage of the indigenes are christians) sokoto and niger state are conducive, thats is if you are living in their state capitals. Your take on the nysc thing has a little flaw, its not a must that you should work where you served.

princesa: I've always wanted to serve in the north. But with the state of unrest there, I'm sure my people won't wanna hear about it. Plus I'm not planning on working the service thingy, if incidentally i get posted to north, I hope it will be there or any other relatively peaceful northern state. (north and peace don't actually go together anyways)

I understand your fear. From my own viewpoint about the northerners, some of them are just misunderstood, they have there own crop of largely good people, you will have difficulty believing it but its true. though you dont have to joke with their religion, if you understand them you will be best of friends with them, even for life. If you dont mind, why dont you want to do the service thing?
Concerning the sokoto state capital, it can compare to most developed state capitals, there is running water, light is relatively better. good road networks, but dont be surprised if you are in a taxi or bus and the driver immediately stopped the vehicle in the middle of the road and dash off for prayers, Sokoto is the capital of islam in west Africa.

yes i think so. I just fell in love with the place. you just have to like the place if you dont have a flair for too much hustle and bustle of city life, infact am even considering the north for service, northwest o not northeast.
