IRAN's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad survived a helicopter scare when his official air transport crash landed today. The pilot managed to land the chopper safely after an unspecified "accident" in the mountainous north of the country. Mr Ahmadinejad and the other dignitaries on board all escaped unhurt, according to Iran's official news agency. The government refused to give any more details of what caused the crash, which happened as the president was on his way to inaugurate a new road tunnel. His office said: "With God's help the president and the officials accompanying him were not hurt. "After the landing the president inaugurated the project and returned to Tehran by car." The pint-sized tyrant - who has claimed 9/11 was staged by the US as an excuse to launch wars in the Middle East - is stepping down next month after a decade in power. Eight candidates are vying in an election to replace him - but only those approved by the ruling Guardian Council of Islamic clerics are allowed to stand. www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/4952020/iran-president-mahmoud-ahmadinejad-helicopter-crash.html |
I really was'nt surprised when i read that a bill banning Gay Rights had been passed, outlawing organizations supporting gay rights and setting prison terms of up to 14 years for offenders, the bill is presently waiting for the presidents approval. Now that's a very bold step and a call to battle with all the human rights and gay rights organizations across the world. With France joining in the league of countries supporting gay rights, gay rights activism has gathered more strength and momentum. The issue of gay rights is fast becoming a reality that might not hit Africa any time soon as much as it has hit Europe, The United States and other parts of the world, and maybe it will when a tangible number of citizens of Nigeria come out to say "i am gay and i'm proud to be gay " which is not going to happen anytime soon with the bill banning gay rights passed, i'm sure nobody wants to spend 14years in prison over 'ass' except if you are hoping that you can get a shot at making a gay love story out of it. A part of me thinks that Nigeria's decision on gay rights might be a little bit too strict, and its crazy that 'homosexuality' would be treated as a crime, thats only raises questions about Nigeria's stand with Human Rights. For a country with a very diverse culture where everybody is either christian or muslim, its going to take a whole lot to get Nigeria to accommodate homosexuals. The British government recently threatened to cut aid to African countries that violate the rights of gay and lesbian citizens. However, British aid remains quite small in oil-rich Nigeria, one of the top crude suppliers to the US.Nigeria's proposed law has drawn the interest of EU countries, some of which already offer Nigeria's sexual minorities asylum based on gender identity, o boy! that sounds like easy visa for so many Nigerians and i wont be surprised if all men begin dey form homosexual, its not even funny yo!. I keep wondering what life would be like for homosexual Nigerians, its like their dreams of having a gay bar one day is never going to be a reality. Have you ever tried to picture how they might be feeling right now?? and what its like to be Gay and Nigerian?!! damn! whats the worst that could happen?. i want to laugh so hard but then i remember that it actually is'nt funny. i do not support homosexuality but im never going to snitch if ever i stumble on a gay couple lol. honestly yall , if you ask me ill tell you straight up that homosexuality has no place in our society and thats just the Nigerian reality. i got into an argument many months ago about gay rights and the other guy wanted to know how i would feel if being 'straight' was considered a crime, then i said to him that "if the law says its a crime then its my responsibility to obey it". As a straight Nigerian Man ill probably never get used to seeing gay men running around town, its just not us, its not our thing and the world can chill out a bit on trying to force and rush us into making certain decisions.. i really dont know if ive made any sense lmao peace yall!!
