Since you've started the renewal process and have evidence to prove it, you should be fine. They should stamp your expired Nigerian Passport. However you may meet a difficult officer who just want to be difficult. So be ready to part with a fine if they insist.

Going forward, I advice everyone with expired passport who intend travelling to Nigeria to do the renewal in Nigeria as it is faster and cheaper. It took me 3 days to get my passport done in Nigeria and the total amount I paid was 70k (approximately $44). This is way less than the amount I'd paid if I were to do the renewal in yankee.

This is stupidity at the highest level. I took WAEC (GCE) when I was 14 in SS2 and passed. I took JAMB and WASSCE when I was 15 in SS3 and passed. This is unnecessary. They should rather focus on how to provide quality education. Let the parents and the teachers decide if a child should write either WAEC or JAMB.

You are traveling out of Nigeria to a foreign country and back? I don't think you can do that. The airline and the foreign country you are traveling to will not allow it.

Currently trying to leave Nigeria and I don't have my Nigeria passport. Getting the passport in Nigeria is taking longer that I expected.

If you have made payment for passport renewal and you have your old passport and you also have the passport of the country you intend traveling to, then you will have no issue. Just show the immigration guys the evidence of payment.

Its a work ID from the Uk, Military and uniform men term to respect it. That's how I did not pay 50K, I'm liable to that 50K.

You were really lucky. Some people miss their flight because of this expired Passport....work ID or no work ID.

It could be very frustrating to be harassed and sometimes denied flight out of Nigeria. That's why it is advised to start the passport renewal process once the person lands in Nigeria.
