another one is here! Doctors normally graduates in 2017 with a heavy loan burden of $350,000 that they will spend the rest of their lives paying back. They get paid a peanut of $50,000 annually for between 7-10yrs depending on their practice before they can start earning $200,000 annually. But meanwhile doctors are rated and that is why some doctor still earn below 100kusd. Dont come with that physcian shiit man cos they are even more desperate than other workers, from fear of losing their license to low rating. Guy man dont debate me, nowhere you won pass come, na inside we dey
what nonsense did you just type? Doctors get paid based on their ratings in the US..haha. where did you read or hear that from. Rating by who?

now get this straight into your rock head- rich nigerians dont live abroad, they all reside in nigeria. The ones who once stayed abroad all relocated without any major sign of success. They got rich off their contacts back home, majority of their businesses are done in Nigeria. You can scream from here to Toyko, noway someone residing in America gonna make the equivalent of 100million naira to come spend on a house unless they are into fraud. VGC is not a big deal? I laugh you, go to Time Square and top areas in new york and see how they smell like piss and shiiit. Most places in new york are only good for donkeys to live in not humans. New york wey them dey pee for every corner. Go take ur morning coffee jor=cocaine
Dude shut up!. Enough of this nonsense

The 100 millon naira you making noise about is the average Physician salary per year in the US.
Do you know how many nigerians are physician specialist in the US ?

Hello Everyone,

I would like to express my appreciation to the wonderful gurus and members of this informative site for the wonderful job you'll are doing and the support you proffer to everyone on here. I have gone through several of the threads and transcript to see the relevance of this site as I also want to present mine for assistance and advice.

I recently gained admission to Dakota State University, U.S, to study an undergraduate program in Computer and Information Science for Spring 2018 semester. I applied with my Senior High (WAEC) results tho I completed in 2011 (6yrs ago). The school have sent my Sevis No. to pay for the fee and I-20 for visa application and to schedule an appointment (will start processing today if my odds are less).

They waived the English proficiency exam test and gained me the admission since my High School studies were taught in English but they have indicated in the I-20 (documents to submit for interview), *Supporting Test Scores (GRE, TOFEL/IELTS) as the last item. They have also indicated that the Spring '18 Semester starts on January 4, 2018...

Now, the issue is should I sit for the TOFEL exam (studied before) and attach it to my documents as stated in the I-20 since the VO might request for it? **I know this migt be ridiculous as time is not on my side, but I check the available date for the TOFEL exam and its 17/11/2017 and results will be out on 27/11/2017 (10 days) which I can attach supposing I get a 2nd week visa appointment. (Ghana)

As well, I need advice and assistance on the key questions at the interview relating to my program of study (Computer and Information Science), incase I proceed with the visa acquisition process.

Thank you! Man is Hot! smiley
Did you write SAT?
I recommend you write either SAT or TOFEL for visa purpose.

A government can encroach on another person's land. There is a statutory provision backing that up under the Law of Torts. It is only an individual that is prohibited from trespassing without just cause.
you are wrong. The goverment still needs a just reason to take over a private land ..example for road construction and even in such cases they are required to "pay" you the street value of the said property.
so you mean government can acquire Linda Ikeji's mansion without any justifiable cause under the law of Torts?

Through these programs, you will fulfill the undegraduate prerequisites for applying to medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and other professional health related fields upon completion.

So I have been in the states for 2 months now. My initial school was Upper Iowa University but I transferred to Everett Community College because the fees was crazy and the scholarship I was given at Iowa was not full with some hidden charges. I still get to pay $22k+ (with the scholarship). Here in Everett, it's just $18k for the year and I can pay per quarter which is really nice.

It has been good for me so far. School starts next week. If you are pursuing something related to tech, you should come to Washington. Washington State University or maybe Seattle University. The tech space here is amazing. After San Francisco, Seattle is the next Silicon Valley plus it is cheaper to live here and there is a higher rate of getting a job.

Microsoft, T-Mobile, Amazon, Boeing all have their HQ here.

I just finished an internship program with a startup in Seattle.

Yh, one more thing for those coming to the states, if the International Drivers License is allowed where you are going, you should get one from Naija. I got mine for ₦15k.

I got a Corolla for $850 including title and stuff and it has really helped me. You know I get to help people deliver stuff once in a while for $20/hr. So every extra bucks count.

I'm just saying this because a lot of people don't consider Washington State and there are loads of opportunities here.

I just wanted to keep you guys updated and I promise to stay active here so I can give back and help the little way I can just as @texrem and everyone else here helped me out.

how easy was it to transfer schools?
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 12 by Observer25: 1:40pm On Aug 10, 2017
I will rather opt for a low ranked school for free or at a cheaper cost than this whole top ranked school obsession where you graduate with huge debts/loans.

I will encourage applicants to always choose the most affordable schools.
This is America, you can make it out of anywhere.
Don't break the bank of your sponsor.
2 of my friends went to very low ranked schools in the south for their MBA's and they both doing great now. Working at Amazon and Bank of America respectively earning 6-figure salaries.

I apologise it is coming this late, I had to wait for the main PALI GANGAN to land on my hands before i believe it wasn't actually a dream.
I reach the Lagos embassy very early like 5:30am i see crowd like say na election we wan do for another Buhari grin grin grin

Straight to the checks and security stuff, it was like screening for a boko haram in the North.

We queued in and i almost lost the line because i just dey shiver, i dressed fully as i do in Office with my UBA logos pointing to the Oyinbos like say na me be the Owner of UBA, infact on CGI called me Mr. UBA, Mr. UBA, Mr. UBA Oga please follow this line now, there is road here huh huh i just dey shiver. Maybe it's because its my first time sha grin

Straight to the Interview after finger stuffs too... everything was coordinated and well organised. But Men, the hall full like say recession no dey Naija grin

VO: good morning
me: Good morning Madam and how are you doing today
VO: fine thanks you, pass me your documents
me: okay Ma, (I pass am sharp sharp)
VO: so you work with UBA presently ?
Me: yes Ma, am the xyz of the department and my duties are xyz
VO: what do you earn monthly ?
Me: xyz (I whispered silently grin)
VO: so what do you need this Masters degree for ?
Me: Ma, if i don't upgrade my CV and profile as advice by the Organisation i work in presently, i will never be promoted and i won't be competitive either, i might even lose as the position i hold is competitive. More so, academic experience in the US is highly valued and well respected especially in Nigeria. I strongly believe that when I return to back, I will be more competitive and with a more marketable resume.
VO: So tell me why this particular school?
Me: (I just knew i have won here grin) I got this hint and word designed by @Texrem, God bless you Bro.
Me: (Na so i fire my words with confidence) Madam, aside the fact that I was offered a good International tuition waiver from the University due to my outstanding documents, I am practically more interested in the active research that is presently been conducted in my department by Professor xyz. This research is on “Advanced Solar Energy Modelling for Industrial and Residential Applications using Smart Grid”. I spoke to him about joining his research team and he added me to his group since I am going to be the only one on the team from Africa.
VO: which other school accepted you ?
Me: Purdue and EIU
VO: good, so you will be staying on campus at GSU?
Me: I will be staying on campus for sure.
VO: where is that located ?
Me: (see me see question oo huh) Campus now, at Statesboro just few miles from Savannah.
VO: Okay who's paying for this studies
Me: I have a good tuition waiver and My old man will handle the remaining fees
VO: what does he do?
Me: Alhaji is the CEO of xyz, he imports Solar equipment and power inverters.
VO: Alhaji huh grin grin grin
Me: (I just knew the visa is mine) Yes Ma, we call him Alhaji at home because that is what my mum call him too.
VO: (na so she wan pick blue paper) My heart don cut I swear grin Your visa is approved..... pick up bla bla bla
Me: I JUST WENT DEAF I SWEAR, I QUICKLY COLLECT THE WHITE PAPER AND I WENT TEMPORARILY DUMP

Na so she say next... na when i hear next na him i remember to say Thanks Madam and do have a nice day and she fantastically responded with and you too...

FOR ME:
It was Almighty Allah all the way, I had to wake up in mid-nights and pray coupled with hard word and smart look during the interview.
No single documents was asked from me, I repeat NO SINGLE DOCUMENT WAS ASKED.
Hints:
Please dress smartly to Interview, at least score yourself before they score you
Be confident and look straight into VOs face and smile a bit when responding
Fill your DS form yourself or at least if it was filled for you, know the information inside
Apply to Good schools for God sake {I was admitted to Purdue, EIU and GSU, I opted for GSU becos of the research and tuition waiver)
Above all, pray and pray for God's Favour
Congrats. Quick question. Is this tuition waiver always stated on the i20?

Hey! Nice question. I am happy you asked for this. The issue of age and getting the student visa is a very important one. What you should know is that, the consular who will be interviewing you might be interested in your marital status, or might not. But if she/he ask, tell him you're engaged, and you can put on an engagement ring and plan for your wedding after your MS program. I am not sure this is the best answer for you, as the one of the students I participated in her admission had to use this style of showing home-ties. It worked and she is in Texas now.
More so, saying you're engage is perhaps another way of showing that you have something waiting for you back home after your education. But let's hope whoever will interview you will not dive into your personal life or relationship status. Just prepare in case VO is interested in your status. Think about the engagement stuff if it is okay for you.
Thanks!!
I am a guy asking on behalf of a friend. Very nice idea!

I beg to differ for the following reasons:

1. F1 student visa interviews did not start last week. They've been in existence long before some of us were born... ergo a mock interview is no guarantee of visa success.

2. There is no reliable statistics to indicate that success level significantly increases with a mock interview.

3. A mock interview is not needed if you're truthful and a bonafide student. The questions asked simply pertain to your selected school, major and career plans. You only need a mock for prepared (usually false) answers.

4. VOs are highly trained to spot canned answers.

Bottom line, there is zero benefit to mock interviews.
You are 100% wrong. If US interview is all about the truth, no one will even need this forum.
You can say all the truth you want and can still be denied.

Just pick these two scenarions. Had 2 cousins who went for interview.

Scenario 1: Do you have any relatives in the US?
Cousin 1: (told the truth) I have 2 uncles and an auntie there.
VO: you don't have strong ties to suggest you will come back. Denied

Cousin 2: Same question. (Lied) No family members. He plans to come back after graduation (false).
VO: Approved.

Is not all about the truth. I believe they sometimes unintentionally penalize those who tell the truth. What is a student's offense to have a relative residing in the US? But you get screwed up for that at times. Is all about strategy.

Action and reaction. It is called an interview for a purpose. You need to prepare adequately not just reading transcripts. Same thing we do for job interviews.

Allow people to do what works for them.

Visa approved today @ Lagos Embassy, 7am. I never expected it to be that short. I've been a silent observer here for about 2 months now and this is my first post. Here goes..
Vo: (after looking at my i20) so, which of the areas in Electrical Engineering are you interested in?
Me: Renewable Energy
Vo: okay (nods and types for a few), so why did you decide on Renewable Energy?
Me: (deep breath) okay, so I chose Renewable Energy cos it's part of my long term career goal to invest in the power sector of my home country by establishing a start up that will provide photo-efficient solar panels and it's accompanying devices to generate electricity for domestic homes and small retail stores (she kept nodding all through)
Vo: okay (types for a while again), so why Portland State University?
Me: I chose Portland State for a number of reasons actually. First of all, the school operates the quarter calendar system which is faster since classes run all year long. Secondly, my Dept offers to teach embedded systems programming as part of the Renewable Energy graduate track, which is quite rare, and learning to program an embedded system will make me a more versatile MSc holder (I was expecting her to cut me short but she kept listening and smiling, typing intermittently...I started smiling back and almost stopped talking but decided to finish...gave the last reason about research stuff).
She handed me my i20, SEVIS and collection slip and said the usual "...3 working days...need this at the airport... " I didn't hear cos she spoke fast and in a low tone.
So, that's it.
I noticed alot of people being denied today for avoidable reasons. Guys, cover your grounds. Don't just go cos people are going. It's good to pray, but work also (I did both). I learned today that the first few secs determine alot, your appearance and demeanor also, you don't want to create a negative impression before you even get to speak. The interview is not as dreadful as alot of you describe it to be. Good luck to prospective applicants.
Congrats man!
I know the tuition at Portland State is very expensive. Did they offer you any Graduate assistanship?

I wondered where he came from to start saying something he knew nothing about. You can imagine in my visa pursuit journey, my first interview and i was denied. The consular asked me why my school, and i was defining chemical engineering. grin grin grin A NL guy was behind me and mentioned it he wouldnt have given me the visa if he was in the position of the consular. So many things happen inside the embassy. You see people unprepared. saying gibberish. We should be grateful. We are just fortunate. Its God's grace.

I ve paid enough dues to american embassy!
Many crazy experiences when u listen to people. I guess I still hold the record for writing an essay at the embassy before I received my student visa in 2004.
The VO wanted me to proof I deserved the full scholarship. Thus she gave me a piece of paper and pen to wrte an essay titled. "Why do you want to study in the US" . Went back to my seat..wrote it for like 25 minutes. She graded it and gave me the visa after wards. This was way back though.
U can never tell what they will do or questions u will be asked at times.
