Health / 4 Best [and Worst] Diets For Diabetics Wanting To Lose Weight by ocaugustine(m): 1:12pm On Aug 17, 2022
Eating well and maintaining a moderate weight is good for your health. But if you’re diabetic, excess weight can make it harder to manage your blood sugar levels and may even increase your risk of some complications.

That’s why shedding a few pounds can improve your blood sugar management and other diabetes outcomes.

In this article, you’ll learn the best (and worst) diabetic diets for people wanting to lose weight.

What is a Diabetic Diet?
Simply put, a diabetic diet is eating the healthiest foods in moderate amounts as well as sticking to regular mealtimes.

A diabetic diet is a healthy-eating plan that’s rich in nutrients and low in fat and calories. Key elements here are vegetables, fruits, and whole grains.

Why Do You Need to Develop a Healthy-eating Plan?
If you’re diabetic, you’ll likely be referred by your doctor to you see a dietitian to help you develop a healthy-eating plan.

The plan helps you control your:
1. Blood sugar (glucose)
2. Manage your weight
3. And control heart disease risk factors like high blood pressure and high blood fats

Eating extra fat and calories causes your body to produce an undesirable rise in your blood glucose. And when this blood glucose isn’t kept in check can lead to serious problems like a high blood glucose level (hyperglycemia).

If persistent may lead to long-term complications, such as kidney, nerve, and heart damage.

So you can help keep your blood glucose level by making healthy food choices and also tracking your eating habits.

For many type 2 diabetes, weight loss can make it easier to control blood glucose and offer other health benefits. If you need to lose weight, a diabetic diet provides a well-organized, nutritious way to reach your goal.

Best 4 Diabetic Diets to Lose Weight
These diabetic diets offer nutrition and increased odds of weight loss for diabetics:

1. DASH diet
The DASH diet stands for Dietary Approach to Stop Hypertension; created to lower blood pressure.

It emphasizes plant-based foods, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, seeds, and nuts.

Also, it includes fish, poultry, and low-fat dairy products, which help limit the take of red meat, sodium, sweets, and foods high in saturated fat.

This DASH diet can be a nutrient-rich eating plan for diabetics. It can also help reduce:

Body weight
Insulin resistance
Blood pressure
Blood cholesterol

2. Mediterranean diet
Like the DASH diet, the Mediterranean diet is an eating pattern that emphasizes plant-based foods, including:

Fruits
Vegetables
Whole grains
Nuts
Seeds
And olive oil.

It also limits red meat and includes small portions of fish, egg, poultry, and dairy products.

What’s the aim?

To be rich in vitamins, minerals, fiber, and healthy fats. It’s low in cholesterol, saturated fat, trans fats, and added sugars.

To follow it properly, you should get the majority of your calories from plant-based foods.

Eat:
Mostly whole grains
Vegetables and fruits
Beans instead of animal protein a few times/week
Healthy fats every day, such as those from avocados, nuts, seeds, and olive oil
Fish and seafood weekly
Eggs and poultry more often than red meat

3. Vegetarian and vegan diets
According to this review, vegetarian and vegan diets may help reduce weight, fasting glucose, and waist circumference.

Simply put, vegetarian diets refer to diets where you don’t eat meat but take animal products, such as milk, eggs, and butter.

Vegans don’t eat meat or any other type of animal product, including milk, gelatin, and gelatin.

Healthy foods for vegetarians and vegans with diabetes include:

Fruits
Whole grains
Beans
Legumes
Leafy vegetables
Nuts

While vegetarian and vegan diets can be healthy diabetic diets to lose weight, you must plan them carefully so you don’t miss out on vital nutrients.

4. Heart-healthy, lower fat diet
This diet involves you eating lean protein sources, including beans and lentils. It’s estimated that the total fat you consume is about 30% calories from fat, with saturated fat at 10% or less.

This means at least half of your daily grains should come from whole grains. You should eat:

Vegetables
Seed, nuts, and low saturated fat oils
Fruits
Low-fat dairy choices.

Worst Diabetic Diets to Lose Weight
Here are diets you need to avoid:

1. Low or no-carb diets

Education / Me & My Daughter... Part 2 by ocaugustine(m): 4:43am On May 07, 2021
I will continue with the story about me and my little daughter...

I just brought her back from school and she asked me, scramble or chess.

I told her PS and she shouted YESSSS, "Daddy you're the best." She rushed into her room to keep her school bag.

She have learnt how to say, "you're the best" because I always tell her that and my colleagues in my office..

Few minutes later, she came out from her room fully ready to win me. Sometimes in life you lose to win, that's why I do allow her to win to boost her ego and make happy and other times I do win.

Why not allow her win always? You might be asking.

I do that for her to taste defeat. I want her to know in life you don't always win and for her to be happy for others when they win.

So, anytime I win she will smile and tell me, "daddy you're the best." I always told her that after outplaying me in any game.

She joined me in the kitchen and I was preparing noodles for her with egg.

She smiled and told me, "daddy thank you for taking care of me."

I was shocked to hear that from her and I said to her, "it's my responsibility and I'm happy doing it" and she nodded slowly.

I asked her, how was school and what they learnt. She articulately told me everything they did in school for that day. I asked her any assignment and she nodded her head. She then told me, her classmate's father asked her for my number.

SILENCE...

I looked at her and smiled. She told me her classmate told her father how she normally shout "that's my daddy" anytime she sees me in her school and my reply to her.

So, you gave him my number. She nodded again with smiles on her face. I looked at her and said, it's fine.

Wait, that was not the first time, not even the tenth time. I can't even remember because I was receiving call almost everyday with the caller introducing him/herself as a parent to a child in her school.

And this marked the beginning of something I never planned for my daughter and myself...

Education / Me & My Daughter... Part 1 by ocaugustine(m): 7:21pm On May 05, 2021
I stood as I watched them take her into the theatre for the surgery. I'm not good in pronouncing words so I never bothered to know the name of the sickness.

I couldn't sit down because there was no joy in sitting down. I stood all through as I saw the nurses come out and go back into the theatre refusing to talk to me as if I was a leper.

There was no strength to even shout after hours the doctor came out with a straight face and I asked him, how was she.

Let's go to my office, he replied me.

I'm not the office type, so say it here. With my eyes gazing at him with...

He opened his mouth and told me the worst.

Everywhere became dark as I stepped away from the doctor with tears pouring from my eyes...

Days after she was gone, were unproductive. I was a shadow of myself, I started forgetting things easily. I became hard to people around me and to myself.

Those days I wished someone would just slap me and tell me, guy stop imagining rubbish but nobody did.

Everyday I prayed that something miraculous could happen and still nothing happened. My siblings, her family and friends were there for me.

They took turn to come and spend some days with me and my little daughter, whom I brought back to the house after the burial.

She was 5 years then and knew that her mom was no more. But some days she would still need a motherly care and love. This made me more weak but never showed this weakness in her presence.

This prompted me to learn how to be her friend, I registered for an online class on how to be your daughter's friend as a father.

This online class brightened me up a little and I took my daughter out to buy some educational games that will generate discussion between us that would build this friendship.

We bought scramble, chess and PS.

The scramble is to learn new words that will create avenue for discussion.

The chess is our mind game, we were using it to learn strategies in all aspects of life and how to execute them.

PS is mainly for relaxation and how to outsmart, outwork and outplay each other.

Weekends became fun for us... My daughter was looking forward to them. In school she would tell her friends about our weekends.

Anytime I came to my daughter's school, she will joyfully shout "that's my daddy" and I will reply that's my daughter.

And we became the topic in every parents' lips in her school. I returned back to my usual self until this...
Education / HOW I WRITE MY BOOKS WITHOUT ACTUALLY WRITING THEM by ocaugustine(m): 6:04am On Mar 30, 2021
I have been a professional writer for three years. However, at some point in my life, I had a health deficiency where I couldn't use my fingers to write.

All my fingers became weak and feeble. It was more or less like there were no bones to support the movement again. I wept all day, imagining how my promising writing career will be aborted after I won Chinua Achebe Writers Award

Oh! how frustrating it was for me. I didn't know what to do.

I visited the hospital almost every day to find out if there was another way but the doctors always gave me the same response. My two brothers, who were medical doctors couldn't help me.

How would I continue in my passion? Was I even ready to lose the company that I had built over the years? Who will help me? These questions were dancing through my mind.

Believe me, I didn't know what to do, I couldn't lose all of this all because of a deficiency and I couldn't continue sitting back not doing anything. I hate begging, it's not in my DNA

Then one day I went to a friend who was also a writer and expressed my fears to her. This friend gave me some tips that changed my life from that day.

Currently, I can write without stress. I can write without caring about those deficiencies again.

Would You Like To Know What My Friend Told Me?

I believe they would help you just in case you don't like writing but you love to own your own book or even create content.

God forbid you won't have such deficiencies…

Here are some things that my friend told me that could help you….

1. Record Yourself

Record yourself with your phone using the audio recorder on your phone or better still use Bandicam.

Upload the recorded file on software that transcribes spoken words to written form.

If you are satisfied with the work, go ahead and edit it yourself or give it to a professional content editor to edit for you.

2. Google Speech to Text

Google Speech to Text is another tool that I use now.

This works by simply opening a new document either on Google docs or the WPS app.

Once the document file is open, simply click on the microphone icon at the top right-hand corner and speak into it.

Google transcribes your words through this simple process.

It's only possible for smartphones using the G-board keyboard type. If your phone doesn't have it, then download it.

3. Get a Local Transcriber

A local transcriber is one that transcribe your spoken words into written form.

You can hire such people from platforms like Upwork or Fiverr.

Did you get any value??

Education / Dinner With Creativefinger by ocaugustine(m): 3:05am On Mar 11, 2021
In 2014, I graduated from University, no job, no money, I used to be a broke ass. During those periods I was always angry at everything and everyone. I don’t know the relationship between being broke and anger but I’m sure there is one.
Maybe it was because I was broke that I was angry or it was because I was angry that I was broke. Whichever way, I hated both of them.

But it all changed when I met this lovely lady who saw something in me, I never even saw. She taught me how to take responsibility for my life by showing me the path... CALL HER MY ANGEL.

If someone like me with average intelligence can make some cool money weekly writing, from the comfort of my small room and in my boxers shorts, then anyone can. Just last week someone reached out to me, for me to be his skit writer, at least from him I make nothing less than $50 weekly. That's what content writing can do.

Education / 6 Must-have Content Marketing Tools by ocaugustine(m): 12:54am On Mar 09, 2021
One of the pervasive myths is that a successful marketing campaign is all about volume; that generating long text will automatically lead to success. Nothing could be far from the truth. Mediocre, incorrectly targeted, and otherwise generic material will fall through the cracks of well-intentioned marketing methods.

Moreover, a lot of time can be wasted only to experience disappointing results. That's the very reason most business owners choose to use cloud-based software and similar tools to focus their efforts and energy in the right direction. However, choosing the right utilities for the task is important, and yet, a problem will often start to rear its ugly head. There are hundreds of content marketing bundles out there, and each claims to provide the most targeted and best solutions. How can one know which one is possibly the best?

The team at CNotions do appreciate this situation and that's why we have taken the time to analyze the top six utilities currently available and to highlight what they have to offer. Whether you aim to slightly tweak your marketing strategy in the coming months, the utilities below will help achieve it.

1. Grammarly

When it comes to quality content marketing, eliminating any grammar or even spelling errors that might have otherwise gone unnoticed, Grammarly will do just that. Recently, studies illustrate that grammatical errors within the context of an article often negatively impact the perception of a brand. Would you take your automobile to a mechanic if he or she was unable to fix the front tyre?

However, the good news is that you don't have to be a savant to create error-free content thanks to Grammarly.com.

Here are some of the benefits:

Identifies both common and uncommon spelling mistakes. Users are provided with alternative suggestions when there is an error.
Texts can be checked to know if no plagiarism has occurred.
Many content writers utilize Grammarly regularly and also the basic version of this bundle is free.

2. Piktochart

An average individual can recall up to 80% of what he or she sees. What is even more surprising is that this figure falls to 20% when referring to textual content. Meaning, seeing is believing in a real way. That's the very reason it makes sense to embed visual aids into your content.

Piktochart provides the ability to create stunning material without having to possess a background in graphic design. This is useful if you wish to add infographics for a better impact of a post. Another massive benefit is the fact that search engines such as Google favorably look upon content that does embed different forms of media.

We need to remember that a growing number of users assess websites with tablets and smartphones. Infographics are easy to view and comprehend when compared to reading a long post. To add a bit of visual flair to your content, Piktochart is a great way to start.

3. BuzzSumo

The secret behind curating quality content involves knowing what your closest competitors may be up to. This may take time and effort if you want to do it on your own. Instead, outsource such analytics to the third-party platform BuzzSumo.

BuzzSumo is a unique platform that focuses heavily on niche sectors while simultaneously analyzing what kind of content is shared often. An excellent way to keep abreast of the latest trends and to imbue a touch of freshness within existing material. Also, this platform is highly intuitive and has been engineered for the average business owner. All reports are presented and it is possible to develop keyword-optimized questions with just a single click.

Some other useful features:

The basic version is free to use. One will be able to understand which kinds of content formats generate the most interest. A perfect way to keep up to date with the most relevant and trending keywords.
Paid subscriptions allow users to perform an unlimited number of searches monthly.

4. Fedly

Feedly is one of the most overlooked and powerful facets of effective content marketing, it makes one know what is happening within his/her niche sector. You want to be able to present visitors and customers with relevant news to keep and maintain their interest. To be able to achieve that you need Feedly.

Feedly is known as a news aggregator. It can be envisioned as a digital “front page” which helps to collate all of the news and public updates associated with your target market. Moreover, it's one of the best ways to uncover quality links without experiencing any information overload.

Feedly is very easy to work with and it does provide regular updates; ensuring that your content is always fresh. It imbues your website or blog with a sense of transparency that would otherwise be very difficult to achieve. There is a need to understand that backlinking to these very sites will help to increase your online exposure as well as your SERP (search engine results page) rankings. Feedly provides these and it's free to use.

5. Wistia

Imagine how many streaming videos you view daily. Now, also imagine that you are looking for a particular online product. Video marketing solutions have represented some of the most powerful tools online. And the rate of mobile video consumption has risen by more than 100% annually. From the online survey, 59% of the participants stated that they would prefer to watch a video to reading a post. This is the very reason why Wistia is an excellent video marketing tool if you are looking for a quick and simplified solution.

Wistia does offer a plethora of user-friendly video customization options, so no need to download additional third-party software. Also, you can leverage the power of in-depth analytics to appreciate if your efforts are headed in the right direction.

Other unique features include:

You can create three videos without paying for a subscription. You can easily share analytical data with CRM platforms like Pardot and Marketo. Lead generation tracking is included as well. Depending on your branding requirements, the video player can be customized to meet your needs.

Education / Happy International Women's Day 2021 by ocaugustine(m): 12:41am On Mar 09, 2021
... "I love woman and I dey straight forward", NOW I know why 2 Baba used this line in one of his hit songs "AMAKA"...

The love of a woman for her criminal son.

A few years ago, a convicted criminal by the name, Jeremy Meeks- was arrested by the California police, they made a good mistake by posting his picture on Facebook. This simple incident gave him the life, he dreamt about it and you can apply the wisdom in it to live the life of your dreams too.

What happened next?

As soon as the police posted his picture, people started liking the picture and praising his good looks instead of castigating him.

Imagine that!!

They called him the world's "HOTTEST" criminal.

Quickly, his SHARP MOTHER reached out to his new-found followers, created a Facebook page for him, and started a donation for his bail.

Jeremy got out of prison because of his followers, rides a Maserati, and lives like a king.

People say it is unfair for a common criminal like Meek to become a celebrity while many geniuses remain poor and ignored.

But that's pure bs.

LISTEN TO THIS:

Life doesn't give a feck if you know book more than Albert Einstein, or you're even holier than virgin Marry. Life only cares for those who take decisive action.

No one achieved effortless wealth in life without building a following.

Meek would have been a common criminal in jail now if not for his mum that quickly took advantage of an opportunity created by the police;

But listen to this:

Meek had a skill and that skill got him the followers that saved him.

Invest in YOURSELF by learning a HIGH-INCOME SKILL

DINNER WITH CREATIVEFINGER is a dinner course where YOU will learn about Content Writing and the amazing platforms you will sell your content.

Just like but better than Jeremy Meek, you will live an easy life, travel around, doing what you love.

Business / Who Else Want To Learn? by ocaugustine(m): 4:37am On Sep 14, 2020
After I was told "You are too fat, I like smart guy" by the girl I tried to chyke.

I registered in a gym to look smart as a way to exercise and get in shape.

Youu know what?

For months, I didn't achieve much.

Last month (August), I decided to get a personal trainer, all expense paid by my Uncle.

He trains me on fitness, 5 days a week.

And the guy is ruthless like all personal trainers should be.

Anyway...

Ever since we started training, there are 3 lessons I have learnt that also applies to business.

LESSON 1 - Get a coach that will show you the right thing to do and even push you to do it.

Here is the thing.

I have been trying to be fit on my own for months now.

I went to Google to pull some workout plans.

But you know what?

Nothing has been achieved so far.

That is because, I am probably doing the wrong workouts.

Or doing them the wrong way

Or not doing enough of them because it is hard to push yourself when you are the only one.

Since he started training me, I am beginning to see amazing and fast results.

And he pushes me.

For instance, on our second week, he forced me to do 50 pushups.

And I was surprised that I did it.

I never knew I had that type of energy in me.

The same thing happens with people who are trying to do business

Many people just go to Google and get unproven information

There are certain things in life where you need strategy and experience if you want amazing results

One of those areas is business

Getting an experienced mentor or coach to help you will save you millions of hours and wasted efforts

Of course, it will probably cost you some money but what you are going to get will be much more than the money

People with a poverty mentality never understand this.

They always think the money they spend to buy a book will only make the author rich

So, they go and spend the money on food or clothes or something else that doesn't add to their intelligence of bank account.

Friend, if you still think this way, I pray God will deliver you.

This LESSON 1 is simple:

The best way to achieve your goals in any area of life is to FIND someone who is an expert in that area and get them to show you the right things to do to get the results you want.

Then model those things and you will get the same results or better.

Tomorrow, you will learn the second BUSINESS LESSON from my trainings with my trainer...

In an article, the writer said that according to experts, the water feels like concrete when you land on it from the height of a bridge.

Yet people keep jumping.

I keep imagining why someone will jump into a river just to kill him/herself especially in Lagos, Nigeria?

Why are people jumping into the Lagoon -in the richest state

Is it because they have a Lagoon?

Aswehrugad, I don't know.

But one thing is clear though. Jumping in the Lagoon is a bad idea.

It all reminds me of the advice a man I met in Ebonylife TV Ilupeju, shared with me in 2016.

An advice his own father gave him.

"Find a river flowing with money...and sit in it."

This year, you need to find an old, dirty river... That's flowing.

Because money will certainly come in.

And in the next 12 months, you will find many other rivers.

You just need to be good and consistent in what you are doing.

Case in point?

It takes just about the same energy to commit suicide, as it does to find your own dirty-rich, river.

Please no matter what is happening around you, just say to yourself

Business / Fear Or Opportunity by ocaugustine(m): 10:16pm On Sep 09, 2020
Yesterday, I read an article where I learnt that the word "crisis" in Chinese language has 2 meaning:

It could mean FEAR or OPPORTUNITY

With this pandemic, this is actually true. A lot of people were afraid about what could happen during the intense lookdown. And many took or are still taking precautions

This means - people reduced or are reducing the amount of time they spend outdoors

They are spending more time indoors. And also spending more time on their phone and computers

Also, the pandemic has affected a lot of businesses.

For instance, a lot of countries' borders are not what it used to be, which means if your business is based on importing or exporting to those countries, your income has been affected too.

However, there is one business model that hasn't been touched

That is businesses that only involve digital products.

An example is the business of selling knowledge online via ebooks and digital courses

Ebooks and digital courses don't spread coronavirus.

We all saw the massive money made by Amazon or they are still making

People are spending more time on their mobile devices and laptops, definitely there will be content to be consumed

People are making a lot of money selling one digital product or the other

You Just need ONE
