I recently bought a Toyota Corolla 2005 model, Nigerian used. Since then I've had this constant problem of hard starting. It's not very bad though, it picks after second or third kick, although in some cases it could be worse prompting my battery to run down.

I have explained the issue to about 4 mechanics, each of them telling me what they suspected could be the cause, I paid them and at the end of the day, nothing changed. I've spent over 300k on this very issue.

The only option I'm considering now is that of the latest mechanic that told me it could be fuel pump system pressure or electrical fault or both. I'm just afraid of spending money again because I'm already afraid it may not work.
So NL family, have your car ever had this "spiritual hard starting" problem? And how did u get out of it?

A man must never feel as if he is self-sufficient. No matter how much he has achieved, how far he has gone, or how strong he appears, he must always recognise his need for God. The moment a man begins to think he can live without God, life itself will remind him otherwise.

God, in His mercy, allows seasons that humble us. Not to shame us, but to bring us closer to Him. Sometimes the humbling point comes through lack; lack of what we obviously need and sincerely desire. A person may have success but lack peace. Another may have wealth but lack health. Some may have influence but lack a family, children, or fulfillment. These moments expose the limits of human strength and reveal the necessity of God.

The Israelites experienced this in the wilderness. God allowed them to hunger and then fed them with manna so they would understand that life is not sustained by human provision alone, but by every word that proceeds from Him. The wilderness was not only a journey; it was a lesson in dependence.

Apostle Paul also understood the humbling point of life. Though God used him to perform miracles and heal others, he still carried his own weakness. That limitation reminded him continually that grace, not ability, sustains a man. His strength in ministry did not remove his need for God; it increased it.

When life brings you to a point where you realize you cannot do without God, do not become bitter. Draw closer. Those moments are invitations, not punishments. They remind you that with God, you have enough, and without Him, nothing is secure. The humbling point is where pride dies and dependence grows. And in dependence, God reveals His power.

Questions for Meditation
In what area of my life is God teaching me dependence? Have I allowed success to make me feel self-sufficient? How can I draw closer to God in my present situation?

Lord, keep my heart humble before You. In every season, remind me that I need You. When life brings me to my limits, help me to draw closer to You and trust in Your grace. Let my weakness become a place where Your strength is revealed. Amen.
