@ embolden, what then would you have us do? If Medical doctors are BANNED from suggesting it, who will give us an affirmative answer on whether to pursue that option or not? Who will treat DJ then, you? If Medical doctors can't be consulted on this alternative means, no need suggesting it because neither me nor you will treat DJ. It's still the medical doctors that will treat him.

When i went to see the patient, I asked the brother why there was not much more visible involvement than what we were seeing
I was told the other people are either incapacitated financially or in scattered places around.

He is also not as internet savvy as you or anyone here so. He himself had to be available in a haphazard manner as he works daily

You will do well to remember they considered a tradomedicinal outfit before TeHN took over

If he does not work,he cannot earn hene the field worker had to stop everything for this
He could not partake in the Xmas or New Year activities with his family

Mehn!! I'm just weak. Let's forget about updates for now then. and get his treatment started. Anytime we receive updates,we'll make do with it. His health is the most important priority not updates.

How can chemo be an option when the location/origin of the cancer hasn't been identified? Chemo in my opinion should be crossed out, and palliative treatment should be our focus.

1. Jaybee3 has already given you the doctors' reports on why chemo is their choice of treatment and where the location of the cancer is.

2. I hope you know palliative treatment can only reduce the pains, it DOESN'T cure cancer? So we'd forget about a solution that might cure him and stick to lessening his pains till the funds burn out and the cancer still remains? To what end? Do you want DJ to be cured? If you do, palliative measures can't cure him, sorry.

He can update any of the volunteers or coordinating team by phone who can make updates.

If we can't get updates or the doctors' informations regarding their progress, then confusion and unrest will arise. This situation is critical. This is sad. Oga Pick, is there a way to see if a doctor can write down the progress of the treatment which an internet savvy neighbour or family member can then come online to update? Because without update (or with a wrong update), this project won't work out. Accusations will fill up the thread.

Okay. Judging from what Alutacontinua said, there's no definitive way to know if chemo will give a positive result or not and B**** has co-signed her post. So whatever decision we make now onwards, we have to hope for the very best. Well we can't fold our hands and seek for alternative cure while DJ is not yet undergoing any treatment.

So this is MY opinion on this:

1. Start the chemo treatment at LCC. Let's go with the NY suggestion. If we along the line, find an alternative cure/method, it'll be relayed to the doctors to get their opinions.

2. Send this B**** appraisal to LLC or LUTH and ask of their opinions.

3. While the treatment is going on or if possible tomorrow, fulfill this part of B**** wishes - "If his performance status was good, then I would want to know whether more detail could be obtained from the cytology of the cells in the ascites, or obtain a core biopsy from a deposit if a deposit is identifiable on CT."

That's if it's possible. Two heads are better than one.

Other contributions are needed. Time no dey again.

Okay, I get you. I only explored that option because I think the larger the audience, the greater the chances of getting more volunteers. But if this thread is enough, then let's carry on with it.

I think in regards to options and treatment, I feel TeHN should carry on with LLC option immediately along with option A (DJ's brother). Stage 4 cancer is very serious. The house hasn't come to general consensus on what course of action to take and time is ticking away. If the NY appraisal suggest we move on with Chemo, then since they're professionals and the funds to cover the expenses are ready, let's move on with it. Delay is dangerous. We can't keep talking while DJ is hapless.

For now, till option B (new team) is possible, option A is our only choice. The truth is, no matter if a new team will be assembled or not, no matter the number of volunteers we'll get, DJ's brother/family is/are our number one DEFAULT VOLUNTEER(S). He's been there all through before TeHN's volunteers took a step back. He'll always be at DJ's side no matter the number of volunteers. So if you ask me, whether option A or B, DJ's brother is the common factor. He knows the extent you guys have gone, knows the hospitals locations. The doctors know him too. He can do this. He can be in charge till the volunteers or new team arrives. If TeHN or we, weren't around but they (DJ's family) have the funds, will they fold their hands and watch him die? The answer is no!! So DJ's brother can do this till others can join him.

I think 50-60% of this job has been done. All he needs to do is get DJ into a private cab on the days he's needed, take him to hospital, stay with him for the day (or probably two days) of the treatment, get information from the doctors (probably written down by them in order not to misquote them), take him back to the house where DJ will be in the care of his family till the next trip, then come online and update us with the happenings and attend to our questions. DJ's brother can do this, he has no choice for now. We're limited for now. I'm sure others will willingly help as time goes on. I believe before the end of the 18 weeks, by the grace of God, DJ will even be more stronger to update us or go on his own. Typing without any definitive action is bad. While we wait on the volunteers, let his brother get him to LCC fast. Thank God he won't be staying in the hospital more than 2 days. So the care on DJ can come from his family watching over him constantly.

Lest I forget, DJ's brother must create his own handle and never use DJ's handle to update us. So that the issue Emmysexy raised about DJ not being the one that is commenting with his handle can be reduced. It's not a foolproof plan but it can help sha. So we can be able to ascertain updates by DJ or his brother. Also, if we can get more than 6 volunteers, it'll be better. We never can tell if unforseen circumstances can make a volunteer not to be chanced on the day he or she is needed.

This is my opinion, I hope one or two things from it can help.

Remsonik, I don't know if you reading TeHN's posts at all. It's not easy for TeHN to get new volunteers. The ones they had can no longer continue. Do you think it's easy for them to get new volunteers? Some of them don't live in Nigeria. We've been on this case since yesterday and yet nobody has volunteered. Not everyone lives in Lagos and those that do might have work they can't afford to miss for DJ's case. And TeHN said they ain't backing out entirely, they're just gonna limit their roles.

This back and forth ain't helping matters. They have given us two options, let's choose from them and move on. Time is of the essence. Time is ticking away.

What I think needs to be done is for TeHN to go for option A, pay the money for the Chemo treatment in full or half and have DJ's brother cater to him while they hold on to the rest of the funds and release them occasionally when GENEUINE cause for such arises like Oam4j suggested. That way, we've combated our fears of the family spending money indiscriminately to a larger extent. While this is going on, there should be a thread on FP requesting for field workers that would volunteer at least for each Chemo sessions. 6 people should be enough. One for each session while DJ's brother keep us updated of his progress at least WEEKLY. Also anyone on this thread in Lagos can check on DJ even if it's once in a month during his or her free period to find out how he's doing or the state of things. I don't live anywhere in Lag or else I'd have volunteered or check on him whenever I'm chanced. This is now a collective effort, anyone that can visit DJ once in a while, it'll be appreciated. For the future volunteers, TeHN should notify them that the money for their transport won't be from their pockets unless an individual decides to do it on his own. That way, it'll help open up more chances for people to volunteer.

What has happened, has happened. We now have to forge ahead with the limited options we have. I understand the call for TeHN and its field workers/volunteers to reconsider and don't back out at this precarious moment, but TeHN has made their decisions and won't go back against it. So let's not waste more time dilly-dallying over past mistakes, what-might-have-been's or past events. With the new development, all well-meaning hands should be on deck and the point of discourse refocused on saving DJ. We can't give up now no matter the current difficulties that reared its ugly head today. DJ remains the focal point and I believe that God will provide a way for us to cater for DJ. We can still do this guys. With more dedicated hands and determined spirits, we can still pull this off.

So here are few numbered points I wanna share:

1. The most important thing now is that we need funds. We can't be short on cash midway into this herculean task. No matter what we decide, I THINK we need more funds. I think before TeHN finally take a step back, they'd try to see if it's possible to get an estimate of the total cost for the duration of 18 weeks of treatment (I'm obviously choosing option 1 in R231's post). This will help us know how much we gonna donate so we don't donate less than the estimate. And for the records, I choose option 1. I'd like to believe that LCC reached out to their partners in NY and they gave a good verdict. So since they're professionals, we've to hope they're right in their assessments.

2. I chose Option A (DJ's brother) since "DJ’s brother has been extremely helpful all through the way and he is conversant with all processes as well as locations." We need someone that's been with TeHN all these while, accompanied them to the various hospitals and whom the doctors can easily recognize. Someone with in-depth knowledge of the challenges of this mission. He won't sit idle and watch his brother die. He'll be there for DJ no matter what. So he's a good option for now. But DJ's brother has to create an account distinct from that of DJ's to keep us updated all through. Updates are very important. It can't be ignored. It doesn't have to be daily, but at least it'd be weekly and he'll answer the questions when asked to keep us abreast with the events.

Challenges:
When TeHN finally transfers the whole money to his account, there's probability of doubts of well usage of the money coming up MORE now it's in the hands of ONE individual. With TeHN, it came up, but with the likes of Jarus handling it, there was high degree of reliability on him. So let's get prepared for it.

3. If we're to consider Option B, then this suggestion should be put on FP so we can get larger number of audience who can volunteer to be the new team.

Challenges: This option is the best (two heads are better than one) but getting a new team might be difficult. We can still consider it if only it will be on FP. If not, we'd be wasting our time. We need a new team in this option fast, have them meet with TeHN offline and have the up to date info about the whole mission relayed to them before they can push forward.

4. I'd like to advise every contributor on this thread to never be afraid of speaking your mind. Irrespective of what has and will happen on this thread including related ones like it in future, don't be afraid to speak your mind. But PLEASE leave out insults and invectives in your posts. If you wanna make a claim, verify it because emotions are heavily involved in these situations. Constructive criticism is always welcomed. Negative criticisms breeds rancour and fights.

5. What has happened has happened, but it should please not deter anyone from helping some in need out there or on NL, in future; neither should it stop our mammoth support DJ. Don't ever see TeHN in future and swear not to help an innocent person over TeHN backing out on this case. You're not doing it for TeHN, but to help someone in need. I know some people are already discouraged, but before you walk away into the sunset and forget this thread and future people that needs us, ask yourself this question - "Am I really doing this for people to appreciate me and not insult me? Am I doing this for people not criticize me or am I doing it for that hapless DJ/patient lying helpless on the bed, with his life in threat? wouldn't I want people to help me out if I'm faced with similar situations? Will my conscience be clear knowing I left a man/woman I could've helped out?" Yeah, we're in a quagmire, but with unified zeal, we can still get DJ to his optimum health. God will create other ways if one door closes. God can use anybody occasionally to volunteer for the cause of seeing DJ hale and hearty again. Let's not be found wanting when our attention are needed. Let's get on with the one we can achieve now, once there's life, there's hope!!

6. Finally, even though I feel bad with the turn out of events, I'll still give honor to whom honor is due.

Thank you to all those that contributed negatively or positively on this issue. Even in the midst of the harsh criticisms, lay some hidden truths. That we didn't agree to it doesn't mean that somewhere in our hearts, we didn't admit our faults.

Those of you that campaigned for funds, those that "shared" posts so that DJ's case could been known all through the breadth of NL, those that paid in cash or kind (prayers etc), may God enrich you and give the determination to do more for DJ and others in need. I can't thank you enough.

And lastly to TeHN, thanks for all your efforts. It might not had ended as we wanted it with you guys, but there's no denying the immense effort that you guys put into this matter in the time y'all have been involved, especially your foot workers.

The battle is not yet over, God is with us. DJ will live by God's grace no matter how tough this task seems, Amen.

I got this picture off my friend's DP and was appalled at the low grading of UK's educational system. I'm still in doubt that this pic is true because in the University I attended, even Optometry least exam cut-off mark is 50 (0-49 is an F). But here I am, seeing 35-37 a D. Am I dreaming or what? Or is that UK don't grade F's in their exams?

If na so, na to go UK go school sure pass. This is too easy, I guess. undecided

If he's "definitely" referring to sleeping with another woman/man other than one's GF/BF/spouse, then I disagree with him.

Yeah, I read it. It said "makes a mistake" meaning it's in future tense, not a "past" mistake. And it also doesn't specify if the mistake is "cheating," meaning it could be any mistake. But if he had wrote "MADE a mistake" specifying that the mistake was that of cheating and him or her getting caught, It'd have been more specific. As long as I'm concerned, one can't 'mistakenly' sleep with another one though.

This is the height of hypocrisy and stupidíty I've seen in ages. Last I checked, what's good for the Greeks, is good for the Ugandans. Far more notable personalities have been insulted via picture memes and it didn't degenerate to hate-filled tribal slurs, so who the fùck is Mrs. Osibanjo that led to some people pouring out bile-filled post on this thread?

Anybody that have laughed at pictures mocking GEJ, Buhari, Tinubu, PEJ, etc., and is here hyperventillating over Mrs. Osibanjo's pic, is a hypocrite and an idíot!! A big FOOL. My only grouse is the admin/supermods that moved and allowed this dumb thread to be on the FP. But then again, what do you expect from the dumb supermods who push anything to FP?

If Tonto Dikeh Is Smiling, Tiwa Savage Is Cooking, Toke Makinwa Is sleeping threads are allowed to be on FP, then you shouldn't be shocked seeing this meaningless thread on FP. After all, a certain supermod created a thread asking for the correct pronunciation of Osibanjo's name and move the pile of shít to FP. That day, I weeped for NL. Nothing fazes me anymore.
