Be careful when you use the word "Every" so you are not foung guilty of fallacy.
There's nothing to be careful for. Ain't nothing wrong in a lady making a new hair to look dashing and exquisite this season. It's no different from guys having a nice hair cut, buying new clothes and shoes to look fly. You don't celebrate God looking like a refuse dump-living resident. What should be discouraged is the "motive" behind the new clothes/hairs. If it's to attract magas etc, or one going above his or her paycheck just to impress the crowd, then he or she is dumb. simples.

This no. 3 is so so annoying. Many Nigerian girls do this. It irks me the fùck out. A guy is expected to start a convo and end it. If he talks, she replies; if he stops talking (maybe due to lack of what to say because the girl is boring), the girl stops talking. Waiting for the guy to talk so she'd REPLY as always. Arrggghhh.. So annoying.

CC you know i have been reading this thread since yesterday,i just didn't want to comment because of the way the thread turns out(punches) from every angles, don't wanna be caught out in it.

This is not about the car causing an issue or not,but the approach needs to be wise. As a father ,if you know that your daughter is in a good marriage and want to help the young couple, all you need to do is to call both kids and present them with the gift.

I have been there before, and mostly i will be the last to learn what my dad sent to us,not because he is my dad,but because he considers both as his children.

For me,when a father notices that his SIL can't afford a second car for his wife, the best thing to do is to call your SIL and chat with him.....Just try to find out if he is in financial trouble or just not ready to cope with the expenses of a second car,by then he could let him know that he wants to buy the car for his daughter, not to ask for his permission but to inform him of his intention.I don't see how any man will refuse such ...

I don't know,but that's how i see it....
@ Embolden, God bless you immensely. The "approach" matters a lot. If the FIL goes about the "gift" the wrong way, it can make or mar the marriage. These little things we tend to ignore destroys marriages. That said, no-one truly knows what happened sha.

Except that 99% of these arguments especially since the influx of trolls several months ago break multiple NL rules. Let the mods address those and leave the 1% that are civil. The place will still be sanitized.
You are right, but my grouse is that MOST threads in Family Section is now Men vs Women debates. No matter the topic of discourse, it'll end up in men vs women debates. It's annoying.
FamilyRe: Man Fights Wife Cus Dad Bought Her A New Car by ochon: 6:56pm On Dec 21, 2014
ileobatojo:
I disagree. The mods can and should stop it. That's exactly the purpose of moderation in online forums.
The mods can only step in when NL rules are broken. What if the poster is arguing civily but still making his or her arguments along Men Vs Women bashing? What would you have the mods do then?

How well do you know this FIL can you vouch for his character and his ability to not just know what is right but do what is right.
Matt, stop debating this issue with Sambarry. It is rétarded. NO-ONE, I repeat, NO-ONE knows what really happened that made the husband reject the car. We're all guessing. Until the MOTIVE or the CONTEXT on which he rejected the car is known, I can't blame the man for rejecting it. No sane man will for NO reason reject such gift.
FamilyRe: Man Fights Wife Cus Dad Bought Her A New Car by ochon: 6:39pm On Dec 21, 2014
ileobatojo:
Hopefully, the mods will one day wake up from their coma and address this.
The mods have their roles to play, but majority of the role towards restoring this sanity lies with US the members. It's high time we grew up and act like sane humans. Some people are insulted for having dissenting views. Some people can't engage in a discourse without mudslinging. BOTH genders are guilty of this. All discussions are now prioritized along men-vs-women bashing. People (men and women) back their gender up just to get back at the opposing gender even when they're making no sense.

Even though I didn't align with LordReed's perspective (because the OP's story is half-baked and didn't give any meaningful details as to why the husband is miffed) on this discourse, I feel he shouldn't have been insulted. We've different opinions, and shouldn't be insulted if those opinions aired are civil enough.

I remember positing on the Adekunle's death thread these words, "I find this words hard to say. Even though you played a huge part in the murder of my Biafran brothers, sisters, children, fathers and mothers, I forgive you. R.I.P" some posters attacked me, insulting me and saying I'm not Igbo. Why? Because I had a different opinion and decided to forgive a man that played a part in a war that caused deaths to brothers. That's why I said the mods can't stop this madness, it starts with us.

@Nonso23, no mind me. I'm just kidding on the siggy stuff.

This section's threads have denigrated to:

Men vs Women arguments
Male Vs Female bashing.
Feminists vs non-Feminists E-fights.

There's obviously a breeding anger between some people, and hence they end up making every sensible/insensible thread about women vs men. This section is a ghost of its glorious past.

Context is every thing people. Before crying blue murder and accusing the man of been egotistic, and crucify him on the alter of Men vs Women. Our focus should have been on seeking to understand the context of his action and probing the Op to further get more details on why he acted the way he did. On getting more details can we go on to come to a conclusion.

FamilyRe: Man Fights Wife Cus Dad Bought Her A New Car by ochon: 1:16pm On Dec 21, 2014
I don't believe this story. There's more to this story. I don't believe a sane man will blow up because his FIL bought his wife a car to help out. My guess is that there might be friction between them prior to getting that car, or some underlying issues that the OP is not privy to.

Speaking for myself, if my FIL bought my wife a car to alleviate the extra stress the OP opined, I won't be miffed ONLY if he's told me of his plan. He doesn't need my permission to buy the car, I just need to be told that he'll give my wife/his daughter a car. A simple call of "my son, I got your wife/my daughter a car to end the stress you are going through dropping and picking her up."

I'd thank him immensely and welcome such news with joy, because to me he's a caring FIL. I'd forever be indebted to him. But if he just pulls up with car and give it to my wife without any form of notice to me, not that it's a birthday gift or some sort of commemoration (nothing wrong in this situations), but to help the issue at hand, I won't be happy about it. We're a family, and in this situation, a call to let us know, is enough. It shows respect.

Sometimes doing something might be right, but THE WAY YOU GO ABOUT IT MIGHT BE WRONG.

I saw a lady saying "my husband MUST respect it whether he likes it or not." If this is how MARRIAGE between TWO people working together to achieve a COMMON goal is all about, then I hope she doesn't complain and accept the fact too, if her husband FÛCKS around and decide to do anything he wants without her opinion. Or decide to carry out decisions without her opinions. She should respect it too whether she likes it or not.

I just saw this addendum to your post. Who is hurt? huh Hurt whose feelings? Even if you are my father, your words can't hurt me. Why do you think your attacks are hurting people? Whoever gave you that notion should be jailed. Stop this self-aggrandizing because you are nothing but a mere faceless moniker who adds nothing to my life. I'm ONLY concerned because DJ will bear the repercussion if these insults continue. Donators and TeHN workers might quit if these insults continues and DJ will pay dearly for it. Minus that, I would've continued reading this thread silently with my single post since day 1. You can't hurt my shadow much less me. I'm done on this issue.

Keep pretending you did not see that the other party started the numerous insults which prompted me to return the abuse and cut them to size, and this was after numerous plea that I was not here because of them/their reputation but because of the fact that LUTH confirmed malignancy/cancer as far back as first week November and a life was at stake, so keep yakking shit-stirrer. Your selective judgement has shown you are of the devil your father, so keep stirring...

In the other news, I am glad the hospital has done what they should have done as far back as three weeks ago. Mission accomplished cool
"The devil is proud of you".. "Shameless Jaybee3"... "Debased mind".. "May God punish you and everyone pushing you to do this".. "Lying dingbat".. "Incompetent goofaholic" are just the insults I could pull off straight from the top of my head and they all have one characteristic - they belong to YOU.

I'm not here to side TeHN nor You. Nah. I feel you have a tangible reason as to why you feel the doctors are being insincere, but the way you are heaping these crude insults will make some people defer from replying you. Emotions are involved here, so it wouldn't be bad if you are civil. If you insult someone, it's likely that the person will not look forward to discussing future issues with you lest you insult him again. That's why Jarus and some, decided not to quote you. You have a valid point, I'm not doubting it, neither am I saying you shouldn't contribute. Your contributions are valuable, you care about DJ. But when you lace your posts with insults, someone will get turned off because of it. Your insults can make someone in TeHN to pull out of this mission and we don't want that. We need all hands on deck. A life's at stake here. We ain't perfect, let's point out our wrongs, imperfections and mistake with civil posts devoid of insults, that's all I'm saying. Once DJ is back to optimum health, if you want to insult the living daylight out of anybody, be rest assured I won't butt in.

I'm not here to rep anybody. I noticed the insults in your posts, and I think it's causing more harm than good. The post of yours I quoted is a "current" post. These insults will end up putting off some posters who might want to explain something to you, but on seeing your insults, will decide to keep mute. I understand you might be "too blunt" online, but please for the sake of DJ, do away with insults. It leads to nowhere meaningful. You can engage in a discourse without the unnecessary insults. If a life wasn't on the line here, I'd have sat back allowed the free-for-all to rage on.

Bravo, well done, but as long as God still remains on the throne you wouldn't be forgetting this day in a hurry, mark it down.

cool cool cool
I don't mean to butt in into your ish with Jay and others you feel are being taking for a ride by the doctors... But don't you think you'd stop the glaring insults on these people? You can speak your mind quiet clear without the numerous insults entrenched in your posts. it's off-putting. I beg you to stop. Be civil at least for DJ's sake. Even when you are driving your point home succintly, your insults takes the shine off it.

My Perception and intuition's above average. I'm just gifted like that. Plus, I'm a skeptic.
I pity people who think I'm easily phooled......well, only when I choose to be.
That said, I think most of us make our decisions based on what we perceive as the real person behind an online entity.

I am a fan of within.

Come to think of it, even those who judge beauty from without do so based on what they see on the moniker's profile, innit?
We're not s sure they re actually the persons behind the screen as well.
Lol
@ first embolden, I concur. At the end of the day, be it by profile pics or their intellectual posts, we still judge the beauty, within or without, by our perceptions.

But can you judge these "traits" from your investigative approach on their virtual traits, without knowing such beauties offline? You know looks could be deceptive and "online posts" is not a good "judge" for inward beauty sometimes.
