The Americans are the one's digging the greenback's grave with their endless political squabbling
I'd have said good move by the CBN but anyone with a little economic knowledge knows the Chinese heavily manipulate their currency
Because of the economic troubles of Europe, the Euro is a no no
Can't we hold some of our reserves in gold, silver and other precious metals undecided undecided

slimyem: I'm not surprised. World power gravitating towards China...
Where's my chinese language teacher? .....cool
Yes,China is becoming a heavy hiter but can they dominate like America has this century? undecided undecided
Militarily they still lag behind Russia in spending and resources
Economically, do they have/can they match the finance America has spent over the years globally?
Recall also that their economy and economics still has heavy goverment control and manipulation
Like I said, they are a heavy hitter but can they dominate like America has done so far? undecided undecided

We are very sad that noteable Nigerians are calling for her sack and or resignation for a mere purchase of a Bulletproof cars.
The crux is not the buying of the vehicles but was due process followed angry angry
Actions like this SHOW WHY NIGERIA WILL NEVER DEVELOP
A minister is implicated in a financial scam with incontrovertible evidence
Her kinsmen WHO HAVE & WILL NEVER MEET HER come to her defence by peddling stories that chieftains of other tribes are in on the sleaze too
None the less, you'd expect them to demand accountability ,persuade their kinsman to take the honourable path and then bring up their own irrefutable allegations against chieftains of other tribes
But no,their kinsman must stay in office because others not from her tribe are in on the act too
And we wonder why the whole world treats us with derision

nku5: Ffk disparaged the idea of the national conference on one hand and on the other he's singing songs of freedom for oduduwa nation. Guy just loves attention
Only the ignorant do not know that Jonathan has ulterior motives for declaring his conference
If you took out time to read what FFK wrote there he alluded that Nigeria has[b] 'An illusionary unity' and also that "It is time for us to question all these so-called ‘’settled issues’’, ‘’no-go areas’’, ‘’non-negotiables’’ and ‘’givens’’."
I do nor recall Jonathan's conference offering this[/b] tongue tongue

Toaskarity: Where did I attack him? Didn't I went for the message? When someone start making such assumption his people is better than others? What is the difference btwn that and kkk people that says same about others. He is not the first to say that in Nigeria even my own mother thinks that way too..that igbos are ahead of others in nigeria and no difference.. That's the way she and this attention seeker sees thing and guess what it does to the society? Hatered to others!! That is how uthman don fodio, hitler, some arabs, racist whites sees things and no difference..it takes a little ignorance to be this way.
I never said you attacked him, no
You read my post with that mindset
I only asked what is tribalist in what he said and from your confession what your mother says too
The problem comes when you attempt to force it down every one's throat like Hitler did or our own young majors in 1966 to devastating consequences
the KKK have a supremacist agenda and go about enforcing it like the 1966 majors did

Even with the rewriting of history by the whites, who doesn't know civilization started in Egypt? undecided undecided
Its if he was rubbing it in the face of other tribes [which he did not] that you know he's going beyond prescribed boundaries
FFK has his many faults, but who does not? huh huh
You might look at a 2pac Amaru Shakur or a Fela Anikulapo Kuti as social nuisances if you look solely at their lifestyles

However separate that from their music and then , YOU WILL HEAR A MESSAGE
One second to none that still reverberates even years after their passing
Alex Salmond, Scotland's First Minister, yesterday proposed Scotland's independence in his party convention
Something he said he'll make a priority in next year's referendum and take up with UK's prime minister David Cameron
No one is calling him names in UK for that but it is rather generating informed debates even amongst some other Scots who prefer Scotland to remain in the UK
Listen to the message of this messenger for Nigeria is a lie which has long unravelled
Even if we must stay as one nation,we need to renegotiate the terms of our existence away from that forced on us by mama Charlie and her goons

Nigeria is a crazy place embarassed embarassed embarassed
We want things to be better but many cling on to tribal cleavages to defend their 'brother/sister/tribesman' even when the criticism is justified
Every thread is now reduced into an APC vs PDP, Ijaw and Ibo vs Hausa/Yoruba and others issue
Divide and rule was invented by the British colonialists and has been perfected by the Ebele administration to cover its glaring incompetence
Yet sadly, bad governance knows no tribe and many of this ethnic warriors HAVE never met and WILL never meet this their so called kinsmen

That been said,if you have ever passed through MMIA you will know it is a sh*thole compared to other regional hubs like Amsterdam's Schipol or South Africa's OR Tambo
Let's not even call out Dubai's DXB
Last time I passed through MMIA [under 2 weeks], I [along with every other person]was just sweating like Christmas goats, couldn't get a place to sit after clearing immigration and waiting for my flight by the departure gate etc
The minister might be trying to push try uplifts on the current structures but there's as much as you can do with archaic infrastructure
What I would have expected the FG to have done is partner with the LASG to build the planned new airport in Lekki axis
But do you expect to see vision from a kindergarten presidency? cool cool

A-ZeD:
The sad part is the PDP and APC chieftains are in Abuja sharing the country's money while some low lifes are busy defending 'their own'. With the kind of people frequenting Nairaland, there is no hope for the country.
So sad bruv
However you should know that Nairaland and most popular online media in Nigeria are swarming with pro government apologists [esp that of the FG]
It was Nasir Rufai who first alluded to a 40 man laptop crew operating from Aso Rock and he's been proved right from what one has seen esp on NL
Yet laptop militia or not, they cannot stand truth and reality on its head
The current FG is glaringly incompetent

awistle: GTB has been sending me different kind of charges, i see available balance and current balance where by available balance will be lyk 25k difference from current balance, stuffs keep going up and down been trying to remove every money in my mastercard at once and this banks here aint helping, just a maximum of 400 quid u can withdraw so GTB keep dealing with me.
No, max I've withdrawn from GTB the only time I've used it is 550pounds tongue tongue using an HBSC ATM [recall daily withdrawal limit of 150,000 naira]
Just change and type in the max allowance to that
Don't know about Visa though [which is indicated more on ATM machines over here]
Will let you know when I try it wink wink

Don Oms: The Book balance is your balance with all your money in it. You Available balance is your balance which you have access to. Now, if you withdrew money in the UK and the system ays you, Mastercard,Visa doesn't send the money from GT to the UK bank,Retailer right away. During this time, your available balance is reduced but Book balance remains intact. When the money finally gets "claimed" by the merchant (e.g UK bank) - it can take days - then your book balance will then equal the available balance.
Really? shocked shocked
The day I withdrew, GTB notified me under 5mins of the amount I withdrew
Also my available and book balance were the same thing cool cool

peteafrik88: How I Love my South east... Anyways, am I the only one being kinda bothered about British Gas price hikes and not to talk of Southern Electrichuh Na until I start burning firewood, huhhuh
Yeah seems energy prices is going to be a BIG election landmine for the coalition esp with Labour promising to freeze it for 20 months or thereabout

Pneumonia ke?! shocked shocked
Bros, e go burn firewood na! grin grin grin

On a more serious note the energy pricing thing and government’s response to it was ridiculous esp as the energy minister told people to use less heating and gas and wear more jumpers
While many people may do that privately, you'd expect a 'righteous outrage government response' however, his response shows the coalition have more or less decided not to take on the energy companies on this issue
