PoliticsRe: Reasons Why US And UK Refused To Comment On The Stella Car Scandal by ochukoccna: 7:40am On Nov 03, 2013
Codedrock: United States and the United Kingdom have refused to dabble in the N255m bulletproof cars scandal rocking the aviation sector.
The two countries said they would not comment on it because it was a domestic issue of Nigeria.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority reportedly bought the two bulletproof cars for the Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah.
This has drawn widespread criticisms across the country.
But the two superpowers (US and UK), who have been in the forefront of fighting corruption in governance, refused to comment on the saga.
Inquiry made to the UK High Commission showed that the country was not willing to involve itself in the issue.
“There is no UK angle to the questions you are asking. We cannot make any comment about it”, the Communication Manager (Press & Public Affairs Unit) of the British Deputy High Commission, Mr. Wale Adebajo said in a statement.
The US view was not any different.
The Information Officer, US Embassy, Abuja, Rhonda Ferguson-Augustus, said her country had nothing to say about the alleged scam.
In her response she said, “Thank you for your inquiry; The U.S. Government does not comment on internal Nigerian affairs”.
Oduah on Thursday denied that the NCAA bought the two bulletproof cars for her use.
She stated that the agency bought the cars for its own operations in line with the rising profile of Nigeria as an ICAO member.

The president Goodluck National conference is another diversionary circus aimed at setting the north against the south in a war of words that will only overheat the polity without addressing the problems of the country. It’s a blackmail and a mischievous political chess game meant to hang the fate of the nation on the continuity of the Jonathan Goodluck regime.

“The Goodluck Conference will deliver nothing but reports that will neither see the light of the day nor that of the night. Its self deception for anyone to believe that this government will embrace and implement critical views of Nigerians from its conference when the same Government have find it difficult to tolerate dissenting opinion from within its party and consistently behaved belligerent to the Our university teachers and resident Doctors.

Why are there even any mags at all or papers being sold on the streets, with more being introduced daily, like Hello! Magazine Nigeria... Fact is MILLIONS of folks still buy papers and mags with no intention of stopping, and there are still heavy profits to be made in the publishing business. Personally I buy papers, plus still go online. Both have their levels.

Correct your MILLIONS of folks to HUNDREDs OF THOUSANDs regarding your circulation figures for Nigerian newspapers
Globally, newspaper circulation figures are dropping and Nigeria is not an oasis different from the rest
Even the globally acclaimed Newsweek had to cease physical printing and go totally online because the financials didn't add up
Our dear old Punch tested paying to access their content online and had to drop the ludicrous idea because their rivals esp Thisday had readers flocking there
The Internet might not totally eradicate print media but you must understand that is where many people source their information from esp for free in this age and time

Ok bro! I do understand perfectly so I will oblige as you have said. Am just on that level of making a decision on which way to go. The inability of one not being able to work part time for a whole year is really giving me concern. Thinking of either Canada or Australia alongside the UK as have got admission offer in all these countries. Can you advise ?
I don't know much about Australia but it seems a place to go to if emigration is at the back of your mind
The best of the lot is Canada knowing in 3 years you can get your legit citizenship papers unlike the UK
Personally wanted to go to Canada when my initial attempts to come to the UK were delayed but the school told me I could only get a refund of my initial deposit if I was refused an entry visa [yet EU and UK citizens could get theirs back with no strings attached] embarassed embarassed
If you are planning on emigration look to Canada and Australia [though I must admit I don't know much about Australia but it seems to hold better allure than the UK so do your research and confirm]
UK dey look for your money, datz all

EducationRe: Okonjo-iweala: ASUU Distributes Insulting Pamphlets About Me In Mosques by ochukoccna: 6:23pm On Oct 22, 2013
omenka: @ 3!!! That is exactly the purpose of Ngozi's statement!!! To deceive people into believing it is a "we against them" thing!! Such a pity people like yourself are already taking the bait! I fear for the future of this country!!

You ask if pamphlets are not distributed in mosques. Very funny. Who distributes pamphlets more than churcheshuh And if the said pamphlets were distributed and she deems it necessary to bring it to the notice of the public, isn't it equally necessary that she provided evidence to back up her claim?? Or as the poster I initially responded to said, do we accept all she has said without question because the is NGOZI OKONJO IWEALAhuh
Last time I checked, there is only ONE entity we can't question and that is God. He bears different names but I've never seen or heard anyone call Him "Ngozi"!!

That been said, can the minister prove ASUU is behind the purported acthuh

Cast sentiments aside judge events based on their merits. Why has everything in this administration been about Muslims Vs Christians or North Vs South?? This is so sickening!! And to think a respected minister such as Ngozi could blatantly promote such division is really appalling!

These agents of doom keep pushing Nigeria to the brink but when sh1t finally hits the fan, they'd be the first to hop on the next plane out of the country and leave innocents to bear the brunt of their atrocities!!
I agree with you whole heartedly
In a nation riven by tribal and religious sensitivities, NOI's statement is a very callous statement to make
Especially seeing she swore an oath to uphold the unity of the country
If she was a member of Aka Ikenga or one of the numerous ethnocentric groups which litter Nigeria one would permit this statement
Yet one is not surprised for this is the very hallmark of the GEJ presidency, WE AGAINST THEM-DIVIDE AND RULE attitude
He [GEJ] is just fulfilling his destiny to balkanise Nigeria and bankrupt it, after all we are hearing the issues the federation account is having.

justwise: [/b]
This is simple, if you don't have money to survive in the UK atleast for the first 6months, the chances of you surviving a month (forget about a year) is almost zero. I'm not trying to scare you but telling you raw truth.
justwise: If you get a room for 300-350 pounds a month including all bills then you 'might' survive on 150 pounds a month...hoping that your school is a walking distance from your house.
Justwise is SPOT ON regarding having money for at least 6 months in this land
I understood better when I got here
It is a WONDERFUL place to live, if you can pay your bills
That been said if you have relatives/friends who WILL WILLINGLY help, that's great
That apart, this land will unleash its horrors to you
However recall Justwise telling you might survive on 500quid a month
Firstly, its because Inner London IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE PLACE IN THE UK and this has higher bills
Also note that he's assuming 300-350 will get you 'liveable accommodation' for up north I know students paying as about that in private accommodation
The rest 150 will be mostly on feeding and a few essentials minus clothing and transportation
He and by extension me are not trying to scare you but letting you know what awaits
So do plan your coming well before buying your plane ticket
You might take out time know learn and acquire skills you can trade for cash when you start hustling here
Life is simpler here but then the thing about the white man is , SHOW ME THE MONEY
Wish you well
