FutureDon: I think it also depends on how often one calls Nigeria. I would like to think that Lycamobile mobile is fair enough for those of us without major commitments that requires constant calling of Naija. Mr Ochukoccna, do you fall in this platoon? lol^^^^ Which one be major commitments O future don? ![]() Lyca and Lebara are both fair enough, only that I call Naija everyday to speak with my boo abi na wifey i suppose talk sef ![]() Didn't plan that initially but from our convo's I've seen its given her stability of mind thus I continue Alternately I've told her to Skype up Do talk to her sometimes on land based mobiles like Visafone but you should know ladies were born to talk ![]() Though at times I wish I was buoyant enough cash wise to deport her to the UK ![]() So many snakes posing as friends and so many fake plastic smiles This country is damn cold;weather wise, spiritually and emotionally Bless God racism is not as pronounced like Russia or Ukraine Fighting that with loneliness would have been crushing Now I get it why books , articles etc I've read prior coming here say the West is a damn lonely place to sojourn in I used to think coming over here would give me the leeway to browse different colours and races and was so eager to far away from herYet kinda miss , even long for her& her drama in many ways [every woman was born with drama ]Talking about cold , how una dey take survive winter for this zone, knowing you don get experience pass for this matter I for ask don Oms the question too but hin too na JJC just like we we ![]() |

A plan is nothing but plans are everything Those who fail to plan, plan to fail Moving to a new country is hard enough but I feel if the above quotes were heeded by this family especially by their son who had computer engineering inclinations, it would have been easier on them when they moved Even though the guy is not a computer engineer, pray, does he need such knowledge to do through online Internet research for the family? ![]() The Internet is one of the great tools that aid life in the West Another fact of life there is that the white man plans , plans and plans his daily monthly , yearly projects far ahead of time When going into a new country, a good rule of thumb is to have enough to survive for at least 6 months [shelter, feeding, medicare, clothing, transportation] without having a job where you are going to Your accent, qualifications will not allow for easy integration so its best to plan for worst case scenarios whilst hoping for the best The Western world [esp now in this times of recession] is not a pleasurable place to come to for now expect you know people or/and have access to sizeable funds |
rexbuton: lil bro my foot !! Who permitted this? These are mature boys that have done us proud, and they must not be found with over-fed children who cant make decisions ! These boys didn't have to play the final match ' Twice'While I did not watch the U-17 tourney, I followed their preparations and can tell you this is the YOUNGEST team Nigeria has ever produced On that, the top well known Nigerian football analysts and aficionado agree Always speak with facts found out before you speak. ![]() |
Congratulations Arsenal You played better in the 2nd half even though you still lost Well done boys, dust yourselves and knuckle up for the next round of games ![]() Now we know& have confirmed that Van Persie is a football bastard ![]() CR7 did not celebrate against Yoonited even though R Madrid beat them in last year Champions league quarter final CR7 had left Yoonited for over 4 years But what of V Persie who was Arsenal's captain 2 seasons back ![]() A bastard is a bastard no matter the affection you show him ![]() |
A man who obtained a first degree at a time when few Nigerians had the priviledge of acquiring western education, and consequently went on to obtain a PHD .......If you believe that Ebele Jonathan earned his PHd, then madam Shepopotemus truly has a B.Ed ![]() Critical thinking, which you rightly mentioned, is a key component to get an MSc ;never mind a PHd Does Jonathan [who is sadly our president at this point in time] ,in all honesty, strike you as a fellow with lucid thinking abilities? So how can a person who lacks lucid thought engage in critical thinking to the point of now having an advanced degree ? |
miz Gene: If u hv made up ur mind to go ahead, then d earlier d better so that if u r refused, u' ll hv time to reapply. ![]() |
madeit2thetop:Some get their visas even before others that submitted after them If you read through this thread you'd see that My suggestion is you call the Abuja BHC office or fire them a mail Google their contacts [though also its on this thread too if you can fish it out] ![]() Tip:Visa related enquiry calls are only between 10am - 12pm on workings days [Even at that calling after 11am is a no no cos automated messages will tell you no one can receive your call] |
Don Oms: Rebtel is cool and I use it. And they're very popular and reliable. Just check them up. You may still compare with others like you have said.I see they use VOIP [which is as I thought] However, I don't know how cost effective it is compared to Lebara and Lycamobile which cost 1p per minute [only when you call landlines] while Rebtel is 2.99p Its only when you call mobile lines it shines through at 3.49p though Lycamobile is close at 4p when you are on a bundle Even at that, the valuedial I asked about quotes 3p per minute for calls to Nigeria mobiles Yet I'd love to find out if ANYONE CAN TRULY RECOMMEND THEM seeing I'd been hearing of Rebtel far before I ever thought of getting a Tier 4 visa ![]() Its not just lapping up to their advert and getting scammed eventually Looking at Skype to help out though for all this Lyca, Lebara and even Rebtel will eventually be fall back secondary options |
The Indians have sown a seed with this which if not checked [I doubt it will be] will bring a virulent harvest someday soon. No one dares dehumanise a British, American , Norwegian etc [please enter a country that is not a banana republic] citizen like this without serious repercussion by their home government But is this not Nigeria that other African countries are now ill treating her citizens? ![]() The poo is hitting the fan slowly but we need the sewage pipes to burst on all of us Maybe that will wake the people up to hold the buffoons masquerading as our leaders in Abuja and beyond accountable to them But till then, enjoy the putrid smell we currently inhale daily in the mumudom called Nigeria |
fckyourman: Bros, use Rebtel they are really good.Okay will read up on them and see if their total package can dust Lyca and Lebara mobile bundles ![]() |
Has any one here used this service before? ![]() How legit are they? ![]()

Don Oms: I'm good bro, thanks for asking. That's the drill here o. And maybe because the MSc is 1 yr, they seem to have it compacted and it may put pressure on students. All is well. As for the rate, I think you made a good point. GT's rate has dropped to 260 this week though. So hopefully, the trend remains so.Good to know that you are good ![]() Especially now that temperatures are beginning to drop in Europe As per the studies thing, they've only reinforced a concept i heard of first in 9ja which is LIFELONG LEARNING only that this their own get deadlines and time lines We go succeed bro as long as we follow the learning model here and heaven's blessing On that I can best my last GBP on that Talking about which 260 to the GBP is good but let it drop to the 237 region [or even further ] it was around in late May-Early JuneNow back to raising up my jack-o-meter levels ![]() |
Hmmn! Did we need the house report to know that Stella Oduah violated budgetary limits? ![]() That Jonathan, NOI are permissive of corruption? ![]() Anyone who followed the fuel subsidy House probe which sadly was torpedoed by Farouk Lawan's greed will know that governance is one big cesspit in Nigeria whilst public expenditure is darker than the darkest night which daylight can never penetrate ![]() Imagine NNPC, CBN, Ministry of finance, Customs, Ministry of petroleum resources having varying figures over the country's major earner How will there not be fraud? NIGERIA WILL NEVER PROGRESS, that is the sad realisation I've come to Yes we have major tribal differences but two destructive attitudes are now paramount [b][size=14pt]First is 'Don't you know it is our turn to chop? How dare you probe me? How dare you speak about my undeserved perks of office? Are others not doing it? What of farouk, bankole and friends? Yeah I was dumb enough to get caught but others too are in on it. etc' The second is 'One day "god will answer my prayer " when I, my father, uncle, brother, cousin, friend, neighbour, ex girlfriend's mother, father in law, grandmother, former class teacher or former phuck buddy etc will become a public official. Then I have made it and will come and do thanksgiving because "god" has blessed me 'Throw in the usual sprinkling of ethnicity as Stella has done or religion as we often do, then you get a very potent combustible mix ![]() Until we enthrone probity and accountability in public office Until we see public office as service to the people and not a get rich scheme on public funds, Nigeria nay sub Saharan Africa ain't going nowhere soon[/size][/b] Does Stella need a probe to resign honourably? But honour is not something our political elites have The world has left us behind yet we keep moving round in circles and wonder why they are saying we are lagging behind ![]() Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results [size=16pt]Nigeria, as she currently exists, is an insane place [/size] ![]() |
madeit2thetop: Pls is there anyone that has the correct bhc contact should pls drop itIts somewhere in this loooooonnnnnnggg thread, try google it out Alternatively, go the BHC's website for it kellyemms: i am having problem wiv my toefl online report score. It no longer displaying my score dats why i wana use my olevel resulti see miz Gene has given you some advice too Yet bottom line is ,IF YOU WANT YOUR VISA WITHOUT STRESS, only submit documents listed in your CAS [nothing more or less] Datz all ![]() |
adamsjosef: Tell am...the cold here can kill chicken.Just chicken?! My smartphone weather app is saying 0 degrees which feels like -2 degrees as at 6:30am local time ![]() But wetin I go do na? No be me go meet Oyinbo UKBA to give me visa ![]() Na to adapt, when in Rome behave like ... BTW, the only chicken I've seen here are those in supermarket aisles awaiting dispatch into human bellies ![]() Not like Naija where you see local ones roaming around ![]() Lol. By the sides, as Ochuko rightly said, the documents stated in your CAS is what you need to present during your visa application.Abeg help me tell am |
Don Oms: Yeah, the rate has been like that for a while and I learned it's always like that around this time of the year. What led to my initial comment was the info that FirstBank was charging 255 naira per pound, so I was wondering why GT would do us strong thing if the info were correct. It's all good though. By the way, how far with your account opening? Which bank did you pick?Bro, how are you? Assignment and lecture no let me post as I for want though I do take quick glances at NL I opened an account last week with Barclay's From my research it was either they or Lloyd's thank you for the concern From what I heard, CBN gives the old generation banks preference during forex bidding and sell for them at cheaper rates Maybe that's the cause of the discrepancies in the forex rates How true is this tale, I do not know until I'm able to confirm from Nigerian banking halls insiders kellyemms: Goodday, i am going for msc, i just received my CAS letter which was been scanned to me by my university. My toefl was stated in the cas but i want to use my o'level for my visa application. what do i do plz?Mr man, stop spamming this thread ![]() This is for people ALREADY in the UK and its attuned for everyday living here in the UK not for visa applications ![]() You can't be posting visa application questions here You already posted here https://www.nairaland.com/826936/uk-student-visa-tier-4/223 , so keep your questions on your visa application process there Follow simple instructions in your CAS and you will get your Tier 4 visa which IMHO is one of the easiest if not the easiest visa to get ![]() Datz all |
I learnt he was arrested for criminal intimidation and threat to life WTF is that? ![]() Whose life did he threaten? ![]() All for demanding for the FG to do the right thing Somebody thief something, people see am shout thief, police come around to arrest those who raised the alarm ![]() Truly there was a country because this present one has gone to the dogs ![]() |
kellyemms: Goodday, i am going for msc, i just received my CAS letter which was been scanned to me by my university. My toefl was stated in the cas but i want to use my o'level for my visa application. what do i do plz?Your university or your intended uni? ![]() You use only the documents asked for in your CAS BTW, seems its January entry you are coming for Hope you are well kitted for British winter when you come ![]() |
What is written all over your government and supporters today is an attitude of it-is-our-turn-to-share-the-national-cake-and-God-forbid-anyone-trying-to-stop-us-from-eating-it-well-or-even-totally-afterall-the-oil-is-ours!The above has been the unspoken speech coming from the Ebele led government from day 1 I wish he could repent and get to real work but he has this approach psychedelic and feel-good approach to Nigeria.to governance Nigeria has been blessed with the scum of the Earth as leaders but Ebele tops the chart for ineptitude. |
Don Oms: Yes, I get to calculate my rate and I know it has always been between 265 and 268. I just didn't know they can charge way too high compared to other banks.Last GTB transaction was 266.98 Late July to November usually has higher rates Probably should ease off in the new year kellyemms: Plz who know of burdon house private accomodation in sunderland......It seems you are really keen on a Tier4 visa However my advice would be you DO NOT make any financial commitment esp about housing until your feet are on ground and you have physically seen what you are paying for Search out online as many properties as possible that are within your budget range but have all necessary amenities [See this NUS checklist I posted here https://www.nairaland.com/826936/uk-student-visa-tier-4/204#18279228] then bookmark the five to ten most promising ones which you will inspect once in town Having a laptop to view it helps but you can as well print out and take the addresses with you when leaving Naija Also do know that there are many properties available which are not listed online but pasted in university cafés, corner shops etc and some which you may only be able to find with the help of your university website Wish you well |
mjan: Good day all, adamasjosef has advised you rightly adamsjosef: I think the best thing to do is to go with ur card. Carrying cash has it's disadvantages though. Other than the charges, i still believe doing a transfer is better. =I came in with £1500 and 2 different Nigerian bank cards [Mastercard and Visa so that if one fumbles, the other should work] and both work well here Only that I withdraw the max amount to minimize bank charges [around £550-560 = 150k daily limit based on current exchange rate now] and deposit in my account here Also I don't withdraw on the VERY day I need it because Nigerian network wahala might mess you up ![]() That apart, if you can pay up ALL your tuition before applying helps cos it indicates to the visa officials you are really serious about coming to study Also do know that carrying above $10,000 raises money laundering red flags over you, cards are mostly what this white folks use unlike we Naija peeps Have you also thought of what will happen if that money gets stolen or missing while you are still sorting out accommodation without which you will not be able to open an account over here? ![]() Wish you the best |
@ abbakacici, this your English still na die ![]() Try upgrade am for Hertfordshire now wey you dey there ![]() Abi free language classes no dey there? ![]() |
