ifyalways: Where is Ndoki?
It's in the extreme southeast of Abia, below Ngwaland; Ukwa East LGA.

That story is very interesting. I find it amazing how such stories were passed along generations without compromising their rich detail.

Is there one that explains how Ikenga was made a deity?

Thank you for my long-awaited reply. I've always wondered about other groups' relations with the Ibibio.

Is there intermarriage between the Ngwa, Asa, Ndoki, and the Ibibio in that area?

One_Naira: Why do I continue to get threads I never posted on as part of my followed topics?
When you follow someone, you will receive notifications of their new topics/posts whether or not you have commented on them.

Ileke-IdI:
odumchi, so you want to tell us that this thread escaped you? Should I make one for igbos? Esp the ones desperate to become Jews?

I don't see anything offensive about this (unless you choose to take it the wrong way). However, I will keep an extra eye on the thread just in case.

Thank you for expressing your concern.

cuteonyii: lol well I apologize for being rude to you...Now you have showed me a sign of maturity..
well why i was so turned hot was that it is quite obvious that Things fall apart
is just a mare novel, like ferry tell, like a movie or drama.. is not a a real story of what happened any where.
is the same thing like other novel we read every day. SO CAN NOT BE USED TO PROVE THAT THERE IS JUJU..
Thanks.

You see, Things Fall Apart is realistic fiction meaning that everything that happened within it could've also happened in real life.

That is what is call money ritual..

some useless native doctors do not even have clue what Evil minded people do with fresh killed body..IN THE NAME OF MONEY..

ARE YOUR EYES OPEN NOW??
I don't understand what you wrote. What I asked for is your scientific explanation for people sacrificing human beings in exchange for wealth? Or is that fake too?

cuteonyii: YOU ARE A PROPER FOOL
Why the insult? Are we quarreling? I really hate it when people start verbally abusing others instead of tackling the topic at hand; it is a sign of incompetence.

Anyway, I'll repose my question to you: how do you explain the death of Okoli in Things Fall Apart?

Spyder, your occupation is very interesting and I believe it has inspired me and has instilled within me an interest in real estate.

That's why I'd like to ask you a few questions:

What's the exact name of your occupation?
What major (degree) is required for it?
Did you start your company on your own?

Thanks in advance.

dabriggs: So where did our ancestors keep these things when the colonialist and slave traders plundered our land? Where were our oracles when the white man defied them and took their people and worshipers to be slaves in strange lands?
Maybe you should research the slave trade in detail because I don't remember there being a time when Europeans invaded Nigeria and forcefully captured people for export.

Cosmology is inexplicable and is beyond human comprehension. Tell me, how do you explain money-making rituals? Or are they fake? How do you explain people dying after taking oaths, or is that fake also?

yes i agree. hypocricy is a part and parcel of human nature. . cool
My statement was legitimate because as you tried to comically express the inclusive tendency of Igbo cultures with the joke about a dog becoming a chief, I also made my own jest. However, saying that one has a biased opinion of the Igbo and Yoruba isn't really necessary.

Antivirus92: but the problem is that those indigenous people do not have a well- documented history about their origin because out of illiteracy and lack of facilities their anscestors didn't care much about telling them about their root.some end up knowing only the history of their own community and thinks that the others who probably might be their brothers are different people because of poor historical affliation. Some just claim anything they felt suits them.some claim the anscestry of the neighbouring ethnicities that mix with them. But when you look deeply inside the igbo nation ,you will see that they are one anscestrally apart from the foreigners that assimilated into them. When you look at different people that settle in a place, you see different language, different culture and tradition and different characters. Even when those different people take up one language, culture and tradition. You will notice traces of dead languages and culture . But in igboland today, no traces of dead language and culture yet insane people claim different anscestries. I JUST WONDER!
Subliminal messages? Lol.
CultureRe: Do You Believe In These Superstitions? by odumchi(mod): 7:07am On Aug 27, 2012
cuteonyii: things like what can not be explain by human? are you talking about human from African point of view or Human in general? Like the moon, mars, can not be explained by Africans right?
Bros, you do not have idea how far other developed countries have gone in exploring things that we thought are imaginable in this life.

which people said flying was impossible in 200 years ago? left for Africans, no one would have tried the experiment The wright Brothers tried in 1899. people who see far and beyond knew that it is possible to imitate the birds. All they were doing is doing research on the principle behind the ability of an object being able to fly in the air.
The problem with all this is that you are trying to provide an answer and explanation to everything, which is impossible. If your eyes weren't working, I'm sure you wouldn't believe anything.

200 years ago (1812), no one could've dreamed that people would be flying along with their belongings in the sky across oceans, seas, and mountains.

I asked a legitimate question because it's the same principle she (Kobojunkie) attempted to use on me.

Were any of you there happened when the Ice Age occurred or did someone tell you about it?

Were you there when Jesus turned water into wine or did you hear about it? Can you explain water being turned into wine?

The eyes allow us to see only part of what exists. If a man was born blind then how is he to believe anything if seeing is believing?
CultureRe: Do You Believe In These Superstitions? by odumchi(mod): 5:11am On Aug 27, 2012
Kobojunkie: That the world is wide, strange and inexplicable is NO REASON to then MAKE STORIES up. Making up Stories, stories that no one has, after so many hundreds of years, proof of, is not sensible. If you cannot show at least 2 reasonable(not your typical uneducated illiterate)people who have witnessed something and have record of evidence of it, DO NOT GO AROUND SPREADING SUCH STORIES AS FACTS.
If the world thought like this, then progress would be impossible. Like I said earlier, not everything in this world can be explained by humans because we aren't intelligent enough to do so.

A mere two hundred years ago, people said that flying was impossible; now look at today.

Let me ask you, were you there when Jesus was born? How are you sure that he existed?
CultureRe: Do You Believe In These Superstitions? by odumchi(mod): 5:04am On Aug 27, 2012
Kobojunkie: QUESTION: Did you see Osisikwankwu disappear or did you hear people tell you that he did?

If you did not see him disappear, you are doing just what the @Poster sai, and that is spreading stories that you have no proof of just because of your African mind
*sigh* Here comes overly agressive Kobo.

I was in Abia state the year that that happened. Aba was shook due Osisankwu's kidnapping spree and the situation got so bad that people abandoned parts of the city and the army was called in. I clearly remember my grandmother handing me the newspaper titled "Osisikwankwu killed by army".

And let me just ask you this, were your there when Jesus turned water into wine or did people tell you that he did?

cuteonyii: things like what? Same people sharing same kind of ideology ? Still in Africa , Nigeria , ? Still same poor clueless group of people. All those stuff on the thread are not news to me. I was born and raised in Nigeria over 30 yrs of my life. I have seen it all. Head it all. Yet there are all nothing but deceit.
The fact that you're saying these things means that you haven't seen it all nor have you heard it all. This world that we are in is wide, strange, and inexplicable.

No human being can use his/her short lifespan to explain the mysterious things of this earth that have existed for ages immemorial. There are surely forces that we can't witness through our eyes.

Those that think they know everything are the ones that will be surprised the most.
