It means, 'God walk unto me'. In Igbo, 'jekwu' means 'to walk/go up to' or 'meet someone'. Ie 'jekwu nwanyi afu no na mgbago ebe nni, welu ife a nye ya', 'nne gi abiago. Ngwa, nee ya jekwulu, rapu m aka'.

Thanks so much, Nwanna.

Could anyone help me with the meaning of the name Chukwujekwu?

At first glance, I thought of it as "Chukwu ji ekwu" meaning "God (habitually) says", but on second thought, the use of 'ji' as a replacement of 'na' to express a habitual nature is unique to southern Igbo, whereas Chukwujekwu is a name that's mainly popular in the north.

For those asking if there are igbo movies, I want to humbly inform you guys that Igbowood are currently producing high quality season films with very rich content. I am currently in season 8 of this movie.

I don't know if I can necessarily agree with the bolded. I was a bit optimistic when Ada Mbano was released, but then after Ada Abakaliki and now Nkoli Nwa Nsuka, I've realized that all of these films fundamentally share the same plot (a village girl, goes to town, gets married, comedy etc.) and quite frankly it's very disappointing.

Personally, I don't like the general direction in which today's Igbo movies are headed. I don't know if the problem stems from a lack of good directors and writers, or a lack of serious actors, or both, but I feel like few of today's movies (this goes for all Nigerian films in general) are really worth the 2 hours or so they take to watch.

Our films of nowadays are mostly about with childish comedy, marriage, or other trivial issues. Gone are the days when films had serious, intricate plots that would have you gripped on the edge of your seat. Gone are the days when Nigerian films explored serious life problems, or used the magic of actors like Nkem Owoh and Sam Loco to bring thoughtful and well-constructed humor into our lives. Nowadays we have comedians posing as actors and our films have degenerated to child's play.

I really wish films of the quality of Taboo, Nneka The Pretty Serpent, Rituals, Okochi, and many other titles would make a come back into Igbowood. I think I speak for the majority of Nde Igbo when I say I'm tired of watching these so-called Igbo actors playing around in front of the camera while spewing their half-baked Engligbo. I am glad that there has been a revival in the production of Igbo movies, nonetheless, I just hope we can return to that high standard of quality.

Mkpuru achi? That's strange considering there's another one that's really achi. What then is achi called?

I actually didn't recognize it when I first saw it. The closest thing I know to it in both resemblance and use is achi.

In my dialect, its called ORURU.

Its very hard and takes time to cook. Its used as a soup thickener. Like achi or egusi but its a whole soup of its own.
I don't like the soup because even though it tastes sweeter the next day and can rarely get spoilt, it gets dark. So, two days after making the soup even if you put it in the fridge, its as black as sheet and not good to the eyes.

Cc Odumchi, what is this called in your dialect?

Aro Okigbo na-ekuje e 'mkpuru achi'.

Enwe= ?

Utobo= ?

Uzodimgba=?

Adaka= ?

Or are these dialectical differences?

In my dialect, Adaka is baboon, Ozodimgba is chimpanzee, and Enwe refers to lower species of monkeys. There's also something that we call Uzontuzo or Eberetete, which my grandmother described to me as a species of forest gorilla that's notorious for attacking humans and stealing their possessions. I believe Utobo is a dialectal variation of the word for gorilla. Not too sure, though.

Afam what does it matter?

Language is meant for communication and not communication for language..It is important you express in the language that best delivers your message with a vast pool of phrases, idioms et al.

Comparing Igbos to Hausas is very degrading on Igbos..Things being in correct order, Hausas and their poor level of intellectual capacity ought to be confined to the lowest spectrum of the Nigerian society.

Kwara uka aka kpu n'onu. This is the very mentality that's at the heart of this issue.
