As at now no truck will carry your container for 200k even if it's not xmas season. Maybe you are talking of b4. But not now dru23: I don't get paid enough for my service ....but make I help others out there...
Depending on the season or how busy it gets at the port.. If you have a container to haul from the port .. It can cost 100k to 200k and about 500k in xmas or high season.. This quote is for short distance that allows you just to offload your goods..... anything further than that could be higher ...... |

You are right am still learning the business. And not what I want to rush into I will study it for some time b4 going into it. And all the comment here about people that fail in the business gave it to someone to manage. But not someone that manage it himself and still fail Blackbishop: Boss I follow jam the baba too... See in business people will not tell you the bad side until you put neck. Because your in-law is into it does not mean your in-law will bail yhu out when the trouble start oooo. From experience my mum was sweet talk into buying Mac truck for loading sands and the person who introduced her to it was already managing like six trucks oooo, omo na the first six months mumsy collect money after na story upon story...
As a guy man go do feasibility study of the business, the logistics, in fact I go ask you to tell your in-law to put yhu through for six months, for best knowledge go apapa find one of those guys running and do motor boy then you can decide to go into it. It ain't easy from the outside Tyre alone na like 60k not to talk of other part you go dey buy without them fixing it just gallivanting about with your money...

I am managing it myself in fact I have already use this lockdown to learn more about the business it only require your time because there are goods or container always available for you to pick up and is strickly only Lagos so I don't think I should have any problem. deedee44: From my little experience in haulage biz, it still depends on having a good manager and driver. Manager can kill the truck if he keeps accepting loads that are way beyond the truck's capacity.
Driver's troubles may be minimal since it's within Lagos but if it's interstate they will deliver the loads and tell you truck has broken down in sambisa meanwhile they're using the truck for side hustle and they'll still collect money from you for fixing
All in all just like every other transport businesses, it requires proper monitoring because those that you will employ will be aiming to make more money than you at any cost |

Why u fail in your haulage business is because you gave yours to a greedy and wicked manager. Bros am managing it my self and you have little or nothing to do when someone mind is made up. dru23: Goodluck with haulaging business.... You can't even manage small cars or the stress of ehailing, so nay haulage business you want do ? So you to want to walk before you can crawl .....you are going from fry pan to fire to a bigger fry pan to bigger fire lol.....my brother my brother, smh .. Have done haulage business years ago early 2000. I was into Mack trucks ,tipper to be exact .. Tough business very tough ... you cant even the maintain small cars , so haulage trucks you want manage.... God bless your soul ...... You think uber drivers are bad , truck drivers will show things that even the devil will be surprise. God have mercy...
The sh*t I read and hear on this forum.. I think I will soon retire from posting on nairaland and mind my business... I am not getting paid for this...
PS .. You want to start " BIG" you don't know what your in-laws has gone through to be doing fine in the business.. There pass experience in other stressful business has made them to be successful in haulage business.. You can't even manage three or two cars for uber lol |

That's that is for 40ft container while 20ft is half the prize Bigleaf1006: I heard that hiring a truck from the port to anywhere in Lagos goes for as high as 800k presently? I was wowed |

The cash flow aspect is the more reason I don't think of leaving transport business. But I don't just like the ehailing is structure. Note. There is good money in ehailing but I don't just feel like investing huge money in it. I prefer monitoring one truck than to monitor 4cars and driver wahala. And you make more money in haulage than ehailing. That my opinion though Bigleaf1006: Every business has got it's peculiarities, same haulage that your inlaw is doing well at is same others have lost out, same ehailing many are complaining about is same others are doing well at with multiple cars.
Transportation business in naija is still one of the best passive income earner out there, even people managing okada or Keke still makes money.
You are better off in e hailing fleet business if you have other sources of income like a business or even paid employment. It shouldn't be your only source of income even with say 3 cars. The key thing is the cash flow it avails you and trust me ,there ain't too many businesses out there that guarantee that
P S* if properly managed of course!! |

That very correct I have done this ehailing for a year now and I can say. That is okay if you are driving yourself. If I wanted to invest 3 or 4 cars in this business I will have done that long ago. Haven said that am wotking towards going into haulaging next year. I just hope this pandemic shit is over as soon as possible. I will I will be starting with one truck that can covey 20ft CONTAINER. AND strickly within lagos. This is what one of my inlaw is doing for 4 years now and his cashing out big time. So I will like us to also look into this line of investment. Because breaking even with ehailing do not seem possible. ndubuis: Please do not take the advice of having two or three cars as the best way of making money. Having two or three cars in the unpredictable and dicey world of e-hailing in Nigeria is nothing but death-dealing. Kindly disregard it, it's a very naive advice.
Someone that has one car that he is managing and driving himself is going to be making more money than the guy with three cars, that sits on his ass and waits for 300k a month. That's a fact.
If you have more money to invest while you are on your one car hustle, please diversify into other businesses. Having two or three cars in this business does not guarantee more income, looking at all variables and heartaches. Take my word for it. |

What I do is after the close of work, I set aside 1500-2000 that I put inside my ‘kolo’, I make it the first thing to do when I get home and I have been doing it consistently since January 4.
I used the piggybank app in December and set it to automatically debit my account of 3k at 11:59pm daily. |

My brother similar experience happen to me too last year November my tire burst at that adeniji side before I knew what was happening I saw 3 guys came out from nowhere. Those guys didn't allow me to change the tire. And their faces was very scary. I was trying to calm them down. Then another two came again and join them. The two babes I carried where just scared. I told them not to worry. I calm the situation and I was speaking a yoruba slange. I told them plaining that am also not a ju man as they are thinking. After everything they relax. I change my tire and gave them 2k. This was around 5pm. That place is not a good place at all if you are not smart those guys will rob you if your car breakdown there. shollywendy1: At night is too far. My tyre bursted july 2017 when i started uber newly. I tried to parked to fix it close to the RRS thinkin it was a safe place . Brethren, no place is safe on that third mainland bridge especially that adeniji adele. In a few seconds, 2 guys appeared claiming he wanted to assist me, i turned them dwn. Seconds later, they were up to 5. Hahaaàà The akoka babe i picked has central locked herself in d car. Good. We started dragging it. Thank God for the area name i called in ebute meta.( he is dead now) thru a fake phone conversation i was making that saved me that morning.(11.45am). RRS were just lookin at us. I had to settle dem with N700. Infact , to God be the glory. They changed the tyre for me all because they thought i was on real phone call with the area father they know. That third mainland bridge is a danger zone both at night and day. Izzou iz very right |

Now this is the answer to the question you ask me earlier on. Let's keep on moving Lagos together Felicity0001: Hmmm... Ok, I get it now.
But in any case what ever rocks once boat is fine.
The conclusion of the whole matter is, non of them is good over the other rather all of them are useless.
Can imagine Uber laying false alligations simply because they don't want to give me the 3% incentives even after completing 20 trips. I just weak, no moral to go out now self.

Not every one is block on Uber all we are saying is the freedom using bolt app compare to Uber. I still use Uber only for destination trip that's if they allow me that my work for today and 4pm am home. Mind you on Monday I made good money on Uber because I monitor where I am if there is surge I go online tunlapapa: Why are you bothered about lecturing drivers which is better? I understand those that have been blocked on Uber but having both apps and wasting energy on that useless bolt is a useless effort. While they are still chasing 30-40 trips, I have already completed my 20 trips which are mostly always done by Tues afternoon. They keep saying there are lesser trips on Uber but here I am with over 380 trips from Feb 1st till now even with several days of no work.

Please brothers in the house I need your help. My driver side wheel is making serious noice as if the stabilizer linkage and the tire rod socket is demage. But when my mechanic check it out he confirm everything is firm and okay that the noice is coming from inside the stirring rack. Note if I enter porthole the noice is worse but on smooth road I can still hear the noice a little The wheel is just sounding like something has losen from the wheel and my stirring is not hard is still very free.
Now before this sound. About two weeks ago if am making a reverse and I need to turn my stirring there is this sharp sqikking noice I use to here very loud. But that has stop which brought About this present problem of severe sound on the driver's wheel like something is not tighting properly or broken from the wheel. And kazeen said it's the rack that is damage. Pls anyone has any idea about this please? |

All this dump Uber dump bolt. Me I don't really understand I use all the app and what matters most to me is waiting time and meeting my terget on time. Me I don't think I can cope with one app. Because there are some times u get more request on bolt and vice-versa to Uber. Today I did 12 trip on bolt and Uber just 2.but as u say. What works for a might not work for b. But for me am loyal to all app as long as am making money. pharod: See bro, I'm not trying to belittle you or anything. We all have different ways of handling the biz to make the most of it and what works for Mr A might not work for Mr B.
