plantist: But you just wrote up there that we don't spend in dollars, in order not to see anything in this FAAC shared, you had to control in order to increase your wailing. Please continue wailing. nobody is saying we ‘spend in dollars’ but Nigeria doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Our economy is heavily import-dependent fuel, machinery, medicine, even food all priced in dollars. So when the naira weakens, costs skyrocket, and state governments' ability to fund real projects shrinks, even if the FAAC numbers look bigger on paper. |

Vision101: Keep wailing. The state governors are happier than before. They couldn't execute projects before but they are doing them now. Some of them owed close to two years salary areas to workers but they are paying as and when due now.
So please go ahead and answer your yourself. In my life time this is the period that I have seen the worst type of politics and opposition in Nigeria. I hope that Nigerians will be wiser else we will make a terrible political mistake. You say this is the worst opposition you've seen? It's obvious you were a toddler or conveniently forgetful during the Goodluck Jonathan era when Tinubu and the APC weren't just criticizing they were threatening to form a parallel government, demonizing everything and everyone, fueling protests, and actively sabotaging governance for political gain. That was opposition taken to dangerous extremes, not the measured criticism you're whining about today. And as for FAAC allocations, yes, they're larger now in naira terms, but basic economics should’ve told you that printing more naira or claiming that there is more revenue and letting the exchange rate crash doesn’t mean we’re richer. In dollar terms, those 'jumbo allocations' are barely worth half of what they used to be. That’s not growth it’s inflation, devaluation, and economic vandalism. As for the Governors being are happy? Of course, they are they're cashing out in naira while the poor are being crushed by the cost of food, transport, and rent. If you're defending this disaster, then you’re either benefitting from it or too blind to see the bigger picture. Either way, Nigerians are not stupid. We see the damage, and no amount of propaganda can hide it. |
Politics › Otunba Fayose Meets Aregbesola After Quitting PDP, Eyes ADC Move by Ofunaofu(op): 1:24pm On Sep 20, 2025 |
Barely 24 hours after resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a former governorship aspirant, Otunba Emmanuel Fayose, has met with Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
An Ekiti-born politician, who preferred anonymity, confirmed that Fayose is already in talks to pitch his tent with the ADC.
During the consultation visit, Aregbesola was said to have encouraged him to “join” ADC without further delay, assuring that the party remains open to strong grassroots leaders.
Fayose had on Thursday released a widely publicised video where he described the PDP as a “compromised party,” accusing its leadership of being “stooges for the ruling party, APC.”
His sudden meeting with Aregbesola has further fuelled speculations that his political base may now shift to the ADC as the party continues to position itself as an alternative force ahead of the next general elections. https://leadership.ng/fayose-meets-aregbesola-after-quitting-pdp-eyes-adc-move/

zero8zero: This epistle is nonsense, doesn't make sense. If you're so bothered on dollars, go to the market and convert the price of garri to dollars and pay for it in dollar equivalent, since you wailers have absolutely no idea about macroeconomics. Today, we now have the true value of naira, rather than the artificial and subsidized value where there were four to five exchange rate windows. A situation whereby a few privileged could get dollars at 450 and sell it in the black market for 700.. trash!. Take several seat back abeg. It’s obvious you lack the mental capacity to comprehend basic economics especially as a student of the “na statistics we go chop” school of thought, which feeds Nigerians fake numbers and rebased inflation and GDP figures. As for the bolded, Insults aren’t a substitute for economic literacy. If you actually understood inflation and purchasing power, you'd know that nominal figures like bigger FAAC allocations are meaningless without context. Real value matters |

zero8zero: Do you guys even try to guage your IQ before coming online to talk?. Why must you convert a naira dominated economy into dollars in spending terms?. Are we buying or selling in dollars in Nigeria?, Is FAAC shared in dollars?. Why is it that wailers are not smart upstairs?. As we speak, states have reduced their external debts, executing projects except for the lazy ones who doesn't want to do nothing. Like I earlier asked, when inflation was single digit & less than 15%, why were states and FG borrowing to pay salaries and increasing debt profiles?. Why were they not executing a single project?, since inflation is your lazy excuse. You’re confusing volume with value. Yes, FAAC is shared in naira but that doesn’t mean we should ignore what that naira is actually worth. When inflation is spiraling and the naira is rapidly losing value, N1 trillion today might have the same purchasing power as N400 billion three years ago. So what looks like an ‘increase’ is often just currency depreciation in disguise. And no, nobody is saying we ‘spend in dollars’ but Nigeria doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Our economy is heavily import-dependent fuel, machinery, medicine, even food all priced in dollars. So when the naira weakens, costs skyrocket, and state governments' ability to fund real projects shrinks, even if the FAAC numbers look bigger on paper. As for your debt claim, states borrowing during low inflation was largely due to low oil revenues and a bloated public sector. Now, we’re seeing ‘debt reduction’ partly because the exchange rate crash has made it nearly impossible to service external debt, forcing restructuring or delays. That’s not strategy; that’s survival.. So, if you're celebrating FAAC increases without adjusting for inflation or currency collapse, you're basically clapping for a pay raise while basic food prices, transport, rent etc now costs 5 times more. Make it make sense. |

How many Nigerians has he lifted out of poverty? Where are the jobs? Are Nigerians more secured? Has Tinubu fulfilled his own promise of constant electricity the one he said Nigerians should use to judge him by 2027?

zero8zero: Nawa for you wailers o, the Governors are not complaining, na you dey complain. Tell us one Governor that has come out to wail as una dey do, rather they appreciate the fact that they're getting more. When this country had recession back to back, did it not affect the entire economy?, were all the states not cash strapped?, did we even have increase in FAAC to ease off?. During GEJ, more than 20 states couldn't pay salaries, some were paying half salaries, almost all the state couldn't pay pensions and this was the period inflation rate was still ok. Yet the FG couldn't rescue the states, even Okonjo confessed the FG was also borrowing to pay workers salaries..
Now, that more funds is getting to the grassroots, you're complaining even when those collecting it did not ask you to complain for them. Inflation has been on steady decline, the Governors can now do more, Akwa-Ibom, Ebonyi, Edo etc have raised minimum wage up to 80k -100k, yet na wailers dey complain. Governors have invited the President to commission projects yet na wailers dey wail. Since your excuse is inflation, would you blame your state Governor after collecting the big cash to sit on it and do nothing since the money doesn't have value, make them kuku keep looting it or spend it on their mistresses, you will like that, right?. I pray make God dash una common sense. Yes, you say governors are happy with FAAC ‘increases’ in Naira. But when you convert to dollars or even adjust for inflation, those ‘increases’ are partially or largely swallowed up by the Naira’s loss of value. For example, in Feb 2024, FAAC was about N1.15trn, which was roughly $790 million at N1,455 to a dollar. Now, N1.818trn is about $1.19 billion at N1,526 to a dollar that’s an increase, but nowhere near the 2 to 3 times Naira gains you people hype. Much of what seems like progress is just currency devaluation. Also, despite nominal increases, states & FG are borrowing more and more because inflation has eaten into what those Naira can do. Salaries, debt service, imports these still cost more in foreign currency, so more of the revenue is drained just to keep basic services running. So yes, there's more Naira, but its real power is far weaker. If FAAC allocations had stayed the same in real dollar value, or even risen modestly, maybe people could praise it. But when you see how much value has been eroded, it becomes clear the damage from devaluation and inflation under the current regime is serious and worse than under Buhari or Jonathan in many respects |

seanfer: Can you please share with us all the last time the FAAC shared up to $1 billion as allocation... This report says the highest in the history of the country and you're here ranting as usual. $1.48 billion as allocation is not that bad except you have decided that you will never see anything good in the current government.. I understand the excitement about the $1.48 billion figure, and yes on the surface, it sounds impressive. But it’s important to put things in proper context. Nigerians don't spend dollars, we spend naira. FAAC allocations are now hitting N1.5 trillion not because the economy is booming, but largely because the naira has lost so much value. A few years ago, N700–N900 billion translated to more value in real terms because the naira was more stronger and have more value and inflation was much lower. So while it may look like more money is being shared, the purchasing power has dropped significantly. In short, a high allocation in naira isn't necessarily a sign of economic health especially when it's driven by currency devaluation and inflation. It's important we look beyond the headlines and assess the real impact on the lives of ordinary Nigerians. |

The National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has set conditions for joining the All Progressives Congress, APC. Kwankwaso said there must be tangible benefits for NNPP members before he would agree to a merger or to join the APC. Speaking when he received Buhari Bakwana, a former political adviser to ex-Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, alongside APC members drawn from the 44 local government areas of Kano State, at his Miller Road residence in Kano, Kwankwaso stressed that there must be strong assurances, insisting he would not allow himself to be used and dumped again. Kwankwaso, however, said he remained open to joining the APC. He said: “If you are asking us to join APC, you must tell us what NNPP will gain. We have gubernatorial candidates in all the states and full structures nationwide. What will you offer them if we join? “Eight years of APC under the immediate past President Muhammadu Buhari gave us nothing, not even appreciation. In PDP, we asked for just a zonal party chairman, but they refused. We left peacefully and today we are strong and have integrity. “We are ready to join APC under strong conditions and promises. We will not allow anyone to use us and later dump us https://dailypost.ng/2025/09/19/kwankwaso-finally-gives-conditions-to-join-apc/ |

Minister of the Federal Capital, Nyesom Wike, has suggested that the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Umar Damagun, betrayed him.
Wike claimed that he has turned out to become Damagum’s enemy, adding that the PDP Chairman won’t hesitate to kill him if he had the opportunity.
He said that he was the reason Damagun is still in that position as the PDP Chairman, adding that he did everything within his powers to put him there.
“I did everything, I had his lawyers, and that’s what sustained Damagum to be there,” Wike said on Thursday while fielding questions on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
“But who is Damagum’s enemy now? It is me. If there is one person Damagum wants to be killed, it is me,” he added.
Meanwhile, DAILY POST reported recently that a former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, had called on the Damagun-led National Working Committee, NWC, to expel Wike, former Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, former Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, and others from the PDP.
He urged the NWC to wield the big stick and sanction members who openly undermine the party to the advantage of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC. https://dailypost.ng/2025/09/19/pdp-crisis-damagum-now-against-me-after-helping-him-wike/

Politics › Nothing Stops Seyi Tinubu From Challenging His Father In 2027 Election – Bwala by Ofunaofu(op): 7:06am On Sep 19, 2025 |
The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala has defended Seyi Tinubu’s political ambitions, saying the president’s son is qualified to contest for the office of the governorship of Lagos State.
Speaking on The Clarity Zone podcast posted on YouTube on Wednesday, Bwala dismissed claims that Seyi’s political relevance is tied solely to his father’s influence, arguing that the younger Tinubu has carved out his own identity as a unifier among Nigerian youths.
“If Seyi Tinubu’s father is the president, what stops him from running for Lagos State governor? Seyi Tinubu can even challenge his father in the next election,” Bwala said.
He described Seyi as “humble and unassuming” despite his privileged upbringing as the son of a former Lagos governor and now Nigeria’s president.
According to Bwala, Seyi has consistently built friendships and supported young people in finding opportunities in government, even those from opposition parties.
“At a point, he was even criticised for the people he brought into government, who were mostly Obidients. That tells you he doesn’t have biases,” he explained.
Bwala also shared that his own history of criticising the Tinubu administration has not strained his relationship with Seyi, describing the president’s son as mature enough to separate politics from personal ties.
He further highlighted that, unlike many children of past Nigerian leaders, Seyi Tinubu has not been linked to scandals or controversies.
“You will never see him attacking people on social media, even though his father is one of the most vilified in recent memory. He has built relationships even with critics of this government,” Bwala said.
He urged Nigerians to judge Seyi based on direct encounters rather than public opinion.
“Until you experience somebody, don’t have an opinion of them. Too many people inherit other people’s problems without any personal encounter,” he added https://www.vanguardngr.com/2025/09/nothing-stops-seyi-tinubu-from-running-for-lagos-state-governor-bwala/

SenatorCharles1: The six-month tenure as Rivers Sole Administrator was during an emergency rule where the National Assembly had assumed the powers of the Rivers State House of Assembly, therefore:
The National Assembly approved the budgets.
It is the National Assembly who exercised oversight during the period, not the state assembly.
Therefore, the Rivers State House of Assembly lacks constitutional authority to probe that period because its legislative and oversight powers were suspended.
Proper oversight of Ibok-Ete Ibas’s finances during the state of emergency lies with the National Assembly, the Auditor-General of the Federation, and the EFCC/ICPC. If the President, not the court can unilaterally remove elected institutions and appoint a sole administrator, then the rule of law is meaningless; anyone could assume powers not granted to them by the Constitution. |
