From wicked and draconian policies disguised as reforms to rampant hunger, strife, starvation, and escalating insecurity.... this is not recovery; it's collapse.

PoliticsDespite Tinubu’s Directive, Wike’s Men Yet To Unseal PDP Headquarters by Ofunaofu(op): 11:45am On May 28, 2025
Wed, 28 May 2025 10:44:37 WAT
Over 24 hours after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive to unseal properties confiscated due to non-payment of ground rent, the national headquarters of the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is still under lock and key.

On Monday, officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) embarked on mass sealing of properties, triggering outcry.

President Bola Tinubu had intervened and ordered unsealing of the defaulting properties.

The President had given defaulters 14-day grace to pay the ground rent with a penalty of N2m. He also advised them to regularise all their land titles before the deadline.

But when our correspondent visited the PDP headquarters at Wuse Zone 5 in Abuja at about 10:15am on Wednesday, the gate was still padlocked, while a seal of FCTA was pasted beside the lock.

Some staff of the party were seen sitting outside the main gate, while others loitered around, lamenting the development.

A staff member who spoke with Daily Trust off the record, said he suspects that there is an underlying instruction that PDP should not be opened.

“I was here yesterday when the FCTA staff came around. They went to FIRS, Ibro Hotel, NAPTIP and unsealed all of them. When they got to our office, they quickly drove away.

“I followed them to their office and met with the director of Lands but he said that they are still waiting for instructions from AGIS to unseal PDP.”

The PDP is yet to issue an official reaction to the latest development.

After the building was sealed on Monday, Umar Damagum, Acting National Chairman of the party, had condemned the action of FCTA, describing it as “the highest irresponsibility” from the government.

“In fact, if they want to arrest all of us, we are ready for that,” he said.

He added that the party would not tolerate such actions, which he believes were aimed at undermining democracy.

“They are trying to mar democracy, and this is not acceptable. We condemn it and assure them they will have to contend,” he added.

Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has been having a running battle with the opposition party.

The delay in addressing such an important matter is becoming increasingly concerning. It appears they may be deliberately waiting for the six-month period to elapse, potentially to rely on procedural technicalities to have the matter struck out, arguing that it is statute-barred and has been overtaken by events.

Politics2027: Malami Under Fire For Criticizing Apc’s Tinubu Endorsement by Ofunaofu(op): 7:46pm On May 27, 2025
The lawmaker representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency of Ondo State, Donald Ojogo, has slammed former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, over his criticism of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, for endorsing President Bola Tinubu for a second term amid national hardship.

DAILY POST reports that Malami, speaking at a meeting of the National Political Consultative Group (North) in Abuja, had accused the APC of neglecting critical national issues while endorsing Tinubu for the 2027 elections.

Just a few days ago, the ruling party held its national summit and, instead of tackling pressing issues like insecurity, economic hardship, and rising poverty, it chose to focus on politics by endorsing President Tinubu for re-election, even though the election is still two years away,” Malami stated.

Responding swiftly in a statement, Ojogo described Malami’s remarks as hypocritical and mischievous.

“As a federal lawmaker, I speak not on behalf of the Presidency nor as a party spokesperson, but I cannot ignore Malami’s audacious mischief, especially considering his controversial role during the Buhari administration.

Malami’s comments are laughably hypocritical. If he assumes Nigerians have forgotten his actions as AGF, he underestimates our memory. His tenure was riddled with contradictions to the very principles he now pretends to defend,” Ojogo said.

The federal lawmaker also accused Malami of being a major obstacle to security efforts in the South-West during his time in office, particularly under the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s administration in Ondo State, where he (Ojogo) served as Commissioner for Information and Orientation.

According to him, but for the boldness of Akeredolu and other Southern governors who ignored Malami’s objections, the spate of kidnappings and killings in the region would have worsened.

He further blasted Malami’s opposition to state police and what he described as his jaundiced view of federalism.

I never said that no one should pay ground rent. My comment was specifically in response to what you said.

This is the kind of 'Emilokan' tribál and ethnîc bîgótry , a brand of bitter politics that Tinubu has brought.

According to the so-called 'Ronus', any Yoruba individual who does not support Tinubu and the APC is deemed not truly Yoruba.

In their view, Yoruba identity necessitates unwavering support for Tinubu and the APC, despite the fact that this administration has arguably become one of the worst in the history of the country.

Honestly, after the Tinubu regime, the 'Ronus' will need serious de-radicalization to be able to think normally, like a sane human being should.
