Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been placed under surveillance, according to PUNCH.

The newspaper reported that this is to prevent him from fleeing the country if the court revokes his bail and order his re-arrest.

Last week, the federal government approached the court to seek the revocation of Kanu’s bail for flouting the conditions given to him before he was released.

Binta Nyako, a judge of a federal high court in Abuja who set him free, ordered Kanu not to grant media interviews or to be seen in a crowd of more than 10 people, but he has since violated the bail conditions.

The prosecution had said that instead of using the opportunity of his bail to attend to his health needs, Kanu had gone ahead to inaugurate a security outfit, known as Biafra Security Service.

The prosecution said this constituted a threat to national security.

Reacting to the government’s move, Kanu said anyone who tries to arrest him will die.

He has also vowed that the November 18 governorship election in Anambra state would not hold if the federal government fails to conduct a referendum on Biafra.

The police said the threat made them increase the strength of their personnel in the south-east and south- south regions to tackle any breach of peace.

According to PUNCH, the increase is proactive measure on any threat peace that may arise from the activities of Biafran agitators ahead of the Anambra governorship election.

Aside mobile police force operatives that had been deployed, counter-terrorism unit, the intelligence unit and other conventional policemen, who would work with the state commands in the south-east and south-south zones have also been increased.

Jimoh Moshood, force public relations officer, confirmed that the police had deployed more riot policemen in the south-east and south-south regions to avert a breach of security and maintain law and order.

But he did not confirm if Kanu was under surveillance to prevent him from fleeing the country should the court rule in favour of the government.

“We have made additional deployments, particularly in Anambra state, because of the upcoming governorship election and also to other south-east and south-south states to ensure that IPOB did not actualise its threat of stopping the election,” he said.

“So also, any pronouncement from the court would be strictly enforced, irrespective of the persons involved. Nobody is above the law, so any court pronouncement would be enforced by the police.”

Moshood added that the force was closely monitoring the situation in the south-east.

He said the police would not leave anything to chance, while noting that any judicial order in respect of Kanu and other agitators would be enforced immediately.

“We are not leaving anything to chance; we are to ensure there is law and order and any pronouncement from the court would be strictly enforced. We are watching the situation closely. We have made enough deployments and we are going to act appropriately,” he said.

Justice J.K Omotosho of the Federal High Court Sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State has remanded nine foreigners and two Nigerians in Port Harcourt's prison for alleged oil theft.

The suspects: Mohammed Ejaz, Naseer Khan (Pakistani), Oleksandr Nazarenko, Oleksandr kashernvi (Ukrainians), Romeo Annang, Francis Ahorlu, Kwesi Attah( Ghanaians), Victor Mikpayi (Beninois ), Fredrik Fatin Omenu (Indonesian), Victor Azebiri, David Otuhohi (Nigerians) and a Company: Asztral Shipping Corporation SA, and a Vessel, MT. TECNE( a.k.a MT STAR).



They were remanded pending arraignment and hearing of a 4-count charge bordering on conspiracy, dealing in petroleum products without a license and tampering with oil pipelines.

At the commencement of proceedings for their arraignment on Wednesday, Counsel to the EFCC, Kayode Oni, brought before the court an ex-parte application seeking the leave of the court to hear the defendants’ charge filed during the annual vacation of the court which was granted by the judge.

The counsel to the 2nd -11th defendants, Abiye Atorudibo, however notified the court that the 5th, 6th and 11th defendants who are Ukranians and Indonesians are not proficient in English language and requested that the prosecution provide interpreters for the accused persons.

In response, Oni asked for a short adjournment to get interpreters for some of the foreigners and remand the defendants in prison as the EFCC’s cell was congested.

Justice Omotoso consequently adjourned the matter to 6 September, 2017 for arraignment and hearing. He ordered that the prosecution provide interpreters for the accused persons and remanded the defendants in Port Harcourt prison.

Trouble came for the suspects when their ship was intercepted by the NNS DELTA on 25 April, 2017 at Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), Afremo ‘A’ Terminal, South East of Escravos in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, for illegal loading of petroleum products suspected to be crude oil. It was alleged that the crew members connived with Victor Azeberi (the 1st defendant); one Peter Ala and David Ogoma alias Ambassador, who are now at large, to siphon about 1905.836 cubic litres of crude oil.

The ship allegedly had no clearance from relevant Nigerian maritime agencies to navigate in Nigerian waters and all the foreign crew on board the ship had no valid documents to enter Nigeria.

first and foremost there is a very high tendency for a girl in her early teens to get defiled and corrupted if she or her parents do not have any future education plans, so to forestall that since she isn't gonna be doing any meaningful schooling its better she is married off, than watch her become a neighborhood fuckaholic, and mind u, premarital pregnancy is something no family up north will ever tolerate cos it will give d family a bad and black name, so u may see abortions up north but hardly can u see an illegitimate child.
Another important reason is because most men up north like to marry their wives as virgins and it's quite easy to find virgins among the younger girls as against older ladies, in fact In a typical hausa society you can hardly find a lady who is 25 yrs and above who has never married, except of course if she is reading courses like medicine
Still another reason is bcoz of the need to have a good and stable family, the younger a lady the more easier it is to groom her and she gonna respect and cherish the man more as against older more experienced women who know various ways of dealing with the huaband
Also in Islam women are generally not expected to work and earn a living, but she may if there is need . So if she isn't expected to work or her parents don't want to sponsor her further, why should she not be married off at an early age before her sexual urge and instincts will prompt her to immoral unions?
So all in all it is to maintain morality and prevent indecency, let a girl grow up knowing that sex is only done under the cover of marriage and not for a girl to get married later in life after haven slept with so many men in her younger years premaritally - such women may not find satisfaction in marriage and can easily resort to adultery

4. The Shekau faction was behind abduction of Chibok Girls.
Abubakar says Shekau has a thing for using young women as sex slaves and toys; hence his abduction of hundreds of girls for fun--including the schoolgirls from Chibok who were abducted in April of 2014.


"Shekau is fond of using the girls and other abducted women as intimacy gadgets, and suicide bombers. He kills on the pretence of punishing for lies, theft, and rebellion. Shekau kills without justification", Abubakar said.

He added that: “Shekau arrogated to himself the powers to accuse, prosecute, convict and punish in total contradiction to Islamic teachings. Children and women also starved to death in Sambisa due to Shekau’s cruelty."

5. The other two factions are ready for dialogue with the FG.
The Boko Haram insurgency has raged on since 2009, leading to the loss of lives of thousands and the displacement of millions.

The Nigerian government has said it is not against a negotiation with genuine leaders of the group, if only to halt the ceaseless bombing campaign.

Abubakar told law enforcement that the Al-Barnawi and Nur factions are open to dialogue.

He however added that he can’t say the same of Shekau’s faction.

In Abubakar’s words: “Al-Barnawi has indicated interest to dialogue with the government to end insurgency and provide a lasting solution to the crisis. Al-Barnawi discusses this with members of his circle. And I can assure the government that he would cooperate to achieve peace.

“The two factions are willing to cooperate with Nigerian Government to defeat Shekau."

6. Abubakar says the FG has been talking to the wrong faction.
“Shekau is not willing to surrender due to his high handedness”, says Abubakar. "Unfortunately, the government and military authorities accorded priority on dealing with Shekau, who is blood thirsty.”

7. Shekau is hiding in Mandara mountain.
Mandara mountain lies on the border between Nigeria and Cameroon.

Late last year, the Nigerian military successfully smoked out Boko Haram fighters from their Sambisa Forest hideout.

Abubakar says the military offensive did succeed in dislodging Boko Haram from Sambisa.

However, he adds, Shekau and his men now have a new hideout—up in the Mandara hills.

“I am cooperating with the military and I am ready to provide information on the whereabouts of Shekau.

"Shekau has left his enclave in Sambisa and moved deep into Mandara mountain. I know the area where he is hiding and willing to provide a guide to the military.

“The intensified military offensive has weakened Shekau’s position and that of the other groups."

The All Progressive Congress, APC, in Rivers State has clapped back at the State Governor, Nyesom Wike for stating recently that he will rather die than see APC come into power in the state.

The State chapter of APC in a statement issued in reaction to the governor’s comment stated that Wike is a comedian and the worst governor the state has ever had.

APC further stated that Wike’s excuse of under performance based on the economic condition in the country is untenable.

The statement issued by APC, signed by its State Chairman, Chief Davies Ibiamu Ikanya said: “Wike blaming the Police and INEC for PDP’s current misfortune in Rivers State and loss of most of her National and State Assembly members in the Appeal Court as not only unfortunate but a calculated attempt to excuse himself as the main culprit for PDP’s misfortune in the State. The Party also described Wike’s excuse for his failure to develop the State as unfortunate, sad and unacceptable because many other states have been recording great achievements despite also experiencing economic recession.

“A few examples would suffice: Governor Atiku Baguda of Kebbi has achieved stable power supply in 16 LGAs and also established the Rice Pyramid (Lake Rice) in partnership with Lagos. Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos s set to launch 5,000 new buses in Lagos, in addition to numerous other feats.

“On his part, Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River can boast of setting up the biggest Garment Factory in Africa, the Rice City Project and Calabar Monorail, while Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom has set up the First Pencil Factory in Nigeria, Led Factory and Automobile Assembly Plant.

“Because Wike has nothing to offer, he has destroyed the Banana Plantation, The Buguma Fish Industry, the Songhai Agriculture revolution and other industries set up by Amaechi to generate funds for the State and provide employment for our teeming undergraduates.

“Wike has only succeeded to turn himself into Mr. Disaster, which he has deservedly earned as the worst Governor in the annals of Rivers State. His stand contradicts the position of Dr. Dakuku Peterside, the APC candidate for the 2015 governorship election, who has a well-documented blueprint which he tagged ‘Road To Prosperity’. This roadmap by this visionary would have made Rivers State one of the most developed states in Nigeria by now.

An ex Boko Haram commander, Abdulkadir Abubakar has revealed that the sect's leader, Abubakar Shekau has left Sambisa forest, and is now hiding in Mandara Mountain.

Abubakar also promised to help the military capture Shekau and also broker peace between the sect's two factions and the Federal Government.
