The debt or liability exists the minute the contract is signed and provision must be made by all in the accounts. That it is not due for payment does not mean it doesn’t exist. You are clearly ignorant. Please go and speak to an accountant who can school you properly. Sorry professional, there are conditions for every contract to receive payment. casualobserver: Clealry I am wasting my time with you. why did he include FG refund that he hasnt received but failed to include contracts he hasnt paid for. At least be consistent, if you are going to include cash refunds that havebnt materialised, then include contractor liabilities that havent materialised. If you are going to include bond investments that you have no access to because they havent matured, then include liabilities that havent matured. You cannot pick and choose, that is accounting fraud.
There is no doubt He inherited debt and will pas on debt to his successor, he also inherited assets and will pass on assets. Government is a continium. My contention is that he deliberately did not include the 185B debt because saying I left 75B sounds better than the truth which is he left N105 billion in net debt and liabilities as confirmed by Obiano a trained career accountant and professional banker, who knows how to prepare accounts.
There is nothing wrong with admitting your man was wrong, this is why Obi supporters have developed a reputation, it is as if admitting fault means you cant support your man. What you instead do is present yourselves a a bumch of people who dont use their brains and cant be reasoned with. I support Tinubu, he has many flaws, I wont defend it when people accuse him of this or that that I know is true. I will even admit he has plenty K-leg but upon all his K-leg, I still feel he is the better of the poor choices we have. The problem with the vast majority of you people is that you defend the indefensible. I think you are trying to look for a fault. As at the time he left, the debt was not existing. |
Politics › Re: Peter Obi Invested N1.96 Billion And The Value Now Is N2.24 Billion (picture) by ogatboy(m): 12:25pm On Jun 22, 2022 |
casualobserver: I am not disputing that he left 75b in cash and investments. The point of contention is that he conveniently and deliberately failed to mention that there were outstanding contract liabilities worth 185 billion. That is not how you prepare a handover note which is effectively a balance sheet. Please ask any accountant. You don’t state the cash you have without stating the your liabilities even if they are not due today. You don’t prepare a balance sheet and say as at today June 22, I have no payments due, so I won’t include the money I owe ogatboy on my balance sheet because I am not due to pay him until he asks, thats false accounting. Or else every outgoing administration can just borrow huge sums from a bank, list it as cash and not reveal the repayments due on that loan because no repayment is due on that particular date.
The argument that the payments on the contracts we’re not due is a mischevious argument. Many of the bonds and cash investments have a maturity date in the future and cannot be accessed on the handover date….so why state those? Why state money you will get in 3,4,5 years but don’t state liabilities that may be due anytime a contractor presents a bill of payment? Handover notes are like a balance sheet. A snapshot of affairs at a point in time. Failing to include liabilities from contracts entered into is either a display of incompetence or manipulation aka accounting fraud.
I was just presented facts on Peter Obi’s claims on $100m. I verified and found it to be true and I had no problem in admiting I was wrong. I deal in facts. The problem with many Obi supporters is they deny facts. If you present facts I will readily shift my position as I have already displayed but as someone who works in finance, I know I am right on this. You're holding claim to this debt. I agree it was there but what was he supposed to do?? Besides if the present governor felt he couldn't pay up, he could have cancelled because the projects were not delivered. You also forget he was left huge amount of debts and he did not complain. He made a true and verifiable statement. He was not owing any debt for any contract that had delivered certificate. For me he's the most trustworthy POLITICIANS |

casualobserver: Nobody said he stole. I will argue against anyone who says Obi is a thief. The problem with Obi is that he lies effortlessly. EFCc is not going to investigate anyone for dubious handover notes.
Atiku and Tinubu are shifty we know this. The problem is Peter Obi and his supporters are touting him as a man who is clean when in fact the whole Peter Obi phenomenon is based on lies, half truth and the manipulation of gullible desperate supporters clinging for anyone who is different but not discerning enough to navigate the BS. I was a Peter OBi disciple myself when he came to prominence on the platform, then I started to examine him closely he started to unravel. His biggest problem is he enjoys the limelight and he talks too much. So the more he talks the more he unravels because there is nothing underneath the rhetoric. The more he talks the more he lies for no reason because he has no track record to back the persona and hype he has created for himself.
Atiku and Tinubu are crooks true. but they will accomplish more than Peter Obi. Peter Obi has no meaningful record in government. Again it is because he has nothing to show for his time in office that he resorts to lies. Sorry I have verified and those statements were made in 2018 and were true. The issue of the debt was cleared online. Maybe you should listen to him objectively and his defense of all accusations. Even the Pandora stuff, he came out publicly to explain what happened. casualobserver: He seems to be in a habit of getting his facts wrong. While you are verifying please also verify that
1. Anambra state government wa a the largest shareholder in the company as you heard him say….a lie
2. Contrary to the position being touted that he left 75b when he left Anambra, the real state of affairs was that he left a net liability of 105B. As he does by always being economical with the truth, he conveniently failed to mention that the state govt had contingent liabilities of 185B.
A man of Peter Obi’s stature and business experience knows how to prepare accounts. I refuse to believe he was incompetent or inept. This was either deliberate attempt at being fraudulent or he is incompetent. But no accountant will give you a balance sheet and not state liabilities because they are not due today. The man is very clever with his choice of words. You have to decipher and investigate when Obi talks about his affairs. Because they are mostly lies and half truths. If he is fradulent, how come he was never invited by EFCC or never had any corruption charges compared to other candidates running. Truth is that he is not a saint but he is miles above those competing against him (most of who cannot go freely to the USA). He is a politician and a politician will always be that. If he place his did side by side with Atiku or Tinubu, I am sure you know what the result will be. I do not think anyone thinks Obi is a saint but given the current realities, he is the best of all that is out there. |

[quote author=casualobserver post=114042199]The point is that Peter Obi claimed the investment was now worth $100m. That’s a bare face lie like all things Peter Obi. He also lies that Anambra was the largest shareholder when it only owned 10% of Interfact breweries and consequently 4.7% of international breweries post consolidation. Peter Obi is a man who lies effortlessly at will.
You can watch the video here
he did not make the claim that $20 million was now $100 million, the statement was attributed to Soludo which he debunked. It could have been one of his supporters or even an opposition. When campaign starts, we will scrutinize everyone. I hope Atiku and Tinubu would be able to defend their wealth and time in government. |

So you guys believe you can change the mindset of millions of Nigerians to vote for Obi? From which region outside SE?
The skull miners joined Amala and ewedu people from SW
Irrespective of the regions in North, na all joined together when it comes to calling them almajiri, poverty headquarters.
SS , LP is an allien Party to them as they have no stake in the party, at least the still have reasonable stakes in Apc and Pdp, so Obi getting 15% votes from any of the SS States mean say him tried when Okowa would be Atiku's VP
Meanwhile, within SE that Obi is from , the political elites are keeping mum about Obi's presidency. Pdp is still rooted in SE cos those who have won the Party ticket would want to win their election and for their presidential candidate to win as well.
Obi could have left Pdp early and build LP earlier from scratch. The calculation you have not made is that from historical record, the candidate running from presidency has highest voter turnout from his region during that period. 2023 is interesting because all the regions are on the ballot. Kano and Lagos are the two largest voting block. Let us assume no merger, Kano vote will be splitted between Kwankwaso and Atiku, South west will be Tinubu but if the youths in Lagos come out to vote en mass, Obi might carry Lagos. The East will easily go to Obi and the South will be splitted between Obi and Atiku. The race is just between Obi and Tinubu. PdP has no chance in this election. |

1. He believed I'm Nigeria and invested the money in Nigeria. He could have easily invested it abroad but the idea was to better the economy of Nigeria.
2. The APC guys managing the economy crumbled it because the share price of the company has gone down due to poor economic realities. Who to blame?? Those managing the present economy
3. Even Dagote share price, gtb share price and all other big companies share price have been on the decline.
In summary, Tinubu and atifku are thiefs. Obi made a good investment decision but Buhari and Osibanjo are clueless and has crumbled the economy of Nigeria |

TooNoisy: Keep deceiving yourselves. Peter Obi will not get 25% in any northern state. He is unknown over there.
He is not known in Osun, Ogun, Ekiti, Ondo and Oyo. No chance of him getting 25% in these SW states.
He wouldn't get 25% in Edo and Delta for sure. Oshiomole/Obaseki will secure Edo for APC/PDP. Okowa will secure Delta for PDP as he is on the ballot.
Obi cannot win any South South State. Udom will secure Akwa Ibom for PDP. Duoye Diri will do same in Bayelsa. Wike will probably join APC or at least remain in PDP. Cross Rivers will be split between 3 parties. First you forget it's one man and one vote and even sitting governors loose their state in a presidential election so that analysis is floored. An election conducted without inducement or rigging won't give pdp or apc any chance. Mind you campaign has not started so he will be known in the north and their campaign focus would be that region. In the west, if the youth block comes out to vote, especially in Lagos, its just game over. APC might be loosing Lagos even in the Governorship election |
