Feminism is a movement that by it's definition aspires for the goal of achieving equality for women. This movement by it's very definition is sexist and has given rise to misandry in this modern dispensation.

Now whilst I do not deny that there are women who are suffering under patriarchal tyranny especially in traditional and Islamic settings and are in dire need of emancipation from child marriages, female vaginal mutilation (FGM) etc. Feminism and feminists (especially in Nigeria) has been very mum about their travails. If we are going to look at it in reality, the textbook definition of feminism is different from the reality of its practice. This has led to the coining of the term "Feminazi" after the exclusivist German national party of the Third Reich headed by Chancellor Adolf Hitler.

Whilst the goals of feminism are lofty and idealistic in theory, many Nigerians ladies who claim to be it's proponents and adherents (like Christians and Muslims) have ignored the unsavoury parts of it and have only chosen advance the parts that suit them.

For example, feminists may rail against female rape, sexual and psychological abuse, cheating by men, house chores, childbearing etc. but keep quiet or even celebrate when women cheat, rape or abuse their male counterparts etc.

In the true spirit of feminism, how many women will gladly become a breadwinner so that the men sit at home, not because they can't find a job but because their wives do not want them to work?

In Nigeria, if we still have women who want a man to pay their way, to buy them expensive gifts, to bankroll them, to pay their brideprices (something they should be fighting against), to pay for dates etc. Then we do not have true feminsts in the majority in Nigeria. If feminism has deteriorated to who washes dishes in the home then it should not be taken seriously.

There are real feminists in Nigeria but you'll hardly find them chestbeating or spewing expletives on social media and rather sadly they're in the minority.

Feminists in Nigeria need to take a step back and ask themselves if feminism is about who does dishes in the home, or if it's about women who are slaving under the boot of patriarchy that may never ever be educated or empowered enough to access social media and understand it's message.

SPOT ON!....personally I advocate for equal opportunity for both sexes,but that isn't the case anymore,this women want equality of outcome which isn't possible, that's what's happened in Scandinavian countries.they're trying to make d outcome of both sexes equal.. That's y there is a gender equality paradox over there..u can't maximize choice and opportunity and expect equal outcome,personality differences widens btw men and women that's y they have implemented quota systems,political correctness and affirmative action to achieve their aim..still it won't work.

The redeeming qualities of many females is that they can incubate children or can lay down to accept a p*nis. Many of whom should be thankful that some man somewhere would even consider such vapid hollow shells.

I think part of the problem can be attributed to socially constructed gender roles enforced by religion, culture etc..due to this sociocultural landscape btw men and women, women tend to be hypergamous (I don't know if its nature or due to gender stereotypes in society and religion) that's y even if she earns she feels my money is mine,my husband's money is ours,such entitlement mentality is outdated....bottom line is,the sociocultural landscape btw men and women needs to be flatlined if we want the narrative to change
