Zeenayah: Anyone flown Qatar to JFK recently with the 2 HR layover in doha? Any immigration questions in Doha? Pls share your experience. Thanks. Yep. I came in on the 27th dec and the immigration questions in doha was lots. 1. Can i hav ur passport? Me:- yes pls... 2. Did u notify the embassy? Let me c an evidence either hard or soft copy. Me:- yes pls....(then i couldn't find it and wifi was misbehaving, he left me and attended to 3 other ppl with issues though not women then came back to me and said the notification may never be found so lets move on) 4. What do u do in nigeria? A medical practitioner 5. Public or private sector? Public 6. Is your husband coming to join u? Nope- busy with work. 7. Is dis ur first preg? First ever? Yep 8. Why u.s? Dual citizenship hence increasing our baby's opportunity in life (he then said r their no opportunities in nig? I was like sure there is thats why i can fund my trip bt baby could have more than i have. And he was like FANTASTIC!!) 9 can i see your doctor's correspondence showing the amount u claim the hosp would charge you? Sure- here it is. 10. How long wud you be in the u.s.? 3mths 11. Can i c ur return ticket? Off course. Here it is. 12. How far are u gone with the preg? 34wks 13.are you with the money in cash? Yes i am (brought out the envelop that contained it and he said is fine i dont need to bring it out) 14. Which state are u going to now? Minnesota but wud go to texas later. He then said thats fine. Wud let them know i have cleared u. @new york he basically ask few of the questions i was asked in doha :- how long and why u.s. we just chatted and in less than 5mins i was done. Holla... Got a cart for $6 picked my bags, went to agric, then out of the terminal. Crossed over to the other side of the rd, entered an elevator and the a free train to terminal 4 and boarded my sun country flight to Minnesota. Back in texas now though for my appointment. I don tire mbok, wud cont later if i remember any other detail bt guess this was all. |

ogekad: Hello my dear people, happy new year.
This new year will bring us uncommon testimonies. I had my princess on the 12th of Dec. 2017. I was so misinformed that I delayed the process in getting her international passport. I got her social security a week after birth. I went to the Dallas passport Agency downtown to get my LO's passport first on the 30th of Dec., I was asked to schedule an appointment which I wasn't aware of the I got earliest appointment date for 2 Jan., 2018.
I got there in time for the appointment and gave all the documents needed only to be told that the notary our DH sends to us is no longer valid as DH has to go to the US embassy in Nigeria to get the notary or be present at the US passport agency.
Apparently, this is a new rule that started yesterday 1 JAN., 2018. DH needs appointment date to get this notary and this is another delay for me as I need to get back to Nigeria soonest. Please, is this the same in your state. The social security is not needed when obtaining the international passport. Let's share this and talk about it.
I wish all our expectant mothers safe delivery in Jesus name.
PS: DALLAS IS FREEZING @ -2/-5. Sent you you a pm. |

brooklyn20: So I came in through Houston Poe on 23rd november (exactly a week ago) .i've been lazy to type my Poe experience.
Got my visit visa last year and used it for vacation both I hubby and toddler.got pregnant this year and decided to give birth with it.wrote the embassy and also got correspondence from hnwmc,Dr xydas. Ever since we decided to go give birth in the us ,I've been praying about my journey to the us ,my stay , delivery etc and everything has been smooth so far and it will till the end by God's grace.
hubbys friend helped us to get accommodation with an American woman (May God bless her ,she's nice and sweet ,her kids are lovely too). And the accommodation came with transportation and feeding. She even said there's a spare Car for me to drive if I wanted to( fear no go fit let me drive for america) .
Back to the Poe story.
I and my toddler came in with Qatar airline.sent my medif form and cert. like 7days to travelled date. Hubby was at the airport some days later and went to ask if it was approved and they said it was ( travelled at 33 weeks 4days) . Also went with fit to fly from my doctor also did medical examination at d airport. Journey was smooth ,got to Doha and got airport accommodation , had my bath and had a good sleep.
From Doha to us was not bad too. I had a roll to my Self so I was able to sleep and stretch my legs. The air hostess kept asking if I was okay and needed anything. Also bringing chocolate ,sweet and snacks for my son .i applied to use a wheel chair but didn't eventually use it ,
At Houston there was a long que , I joined the que ,when it was almost my turn my son started shouting that he wanted to pee. I was allowed to take him to the toilet then come straight to the front.
Me: Good afternoon Cbp: what are u here for? Me: to have my baby Cbp:How long will you be staying Me: ***** Cbp:How much do you have on you Me: ****** (more than $10k) Cbp: I'll have to send you to secondary inspection cos I can't count your money here) . Me: ok
He called some to come take me there. I waited for a while ,then I was called
Cbp: how much did u come in with Me:****? Let me see,she didn't count it Cbp: what's the name of d hospital u are using? Me: told her Cbp:How did u get the cash Me:Told her some from pta and d rest from beaut De change Cbp: where will u be staying Me : told her my host name and her address (she typed it on the system) and asked how much I'm paying her. Cbp: do you have a credit card on you.me: yes Cbp: make sure u pay all your bills and get the receipt and always take it along when travelling or else your visa will be cancelled . Then she stood up and said follow me. She took me to an escalator and asked me to go down to Agric. Went there and my bags were brought to me , it was scanned and my chicken nooddles was seized but every other food made it ,came in with all kinds of naija food. Waiting for my first appointment tomorrow. Please does it mean you gave them 3 medical reports? One from your dr, one from Port health and the medif form? |

Congrats and Tnk God on safe arrival. Pls what did qatar airways do to u cos am abt booking them. Terese69: So in the spirit of giving back ... Gosh I can't stand that line
Oh well, second missionary journey completed to the glory of God!
I used the same hospital and doctor as my first time.
Location- Dallas, Texas Airline- Qatar. Ticket cost N418k (I will never fly them ever again. My experience with them was an absolute nightmare)
Medical expenses Hospital fee - $3,000 (Vaginal delivery, 2 days hospital stay) Doctor's fee - $2,400 (should have been $2,800 but I was allowed to pay my former fee as a return patient after much haggling. This fee is inclusive of all lab tests done at the doctor's clinic, sonogram and prenatal vitamins) Epidural - $1,000 (Dem nor gree gimme discount . Apparently, this is already the discounted fee for self pay patients) Hospital Paediatrician - $478 after discount (Original bill was $673) Paediatrician after discharge - $215 (First visit $75 + second visit @2weeks $65 + $75 for new born screening done during the second visit) Labs - $82 ($35 for me {original bill was $114} + $47 for baby {original bill was $109})
Total medical bill = $7,175
Declined hearing test and circumcision (they would have cost $330 and $710 respectively).
Documentation Picked up baby's BC 4 days after birth. Had the passport appointment 7 days after birth, picked up the passport same day. Received baby's SSN 2 weeks after birth. Applied for VOA myself via email, got the approval within 48hours. Paid for it upon arrival. The process was pretty easy and straightforward. Got all my zero balance receipts before departure.
BC - $23 per copy + optional $2 for plastic envelop for safekeeping Passport - $165 (expedited) VOA - $190
Accommodation - After my horrible experience living with a family friend during my last missionary journey, I decided to rent a one bedroom apartment via Airbnb. Paid $3,400 for 11 weeks. God blessed me with the most fantastic airbnb host ever. I can't sing her praises enough. She made sure I had everything I needed in the apartment to make me comfortable. She bought a dry mill blender so I could blend my banga and pepper soup spices, bought a bassinet for my baby, books and toys for my toddler daughter and a sweater for my mum when it got cold. She took me to my doctor appointments, to the hospital, passport appointment, shopping, sightseeing and then returned to pick me up afterwards when she could. She took me to pick my husband up from the airport when he arrived and even went to drop him when he was returning. Upon my departure, her car was too small to fit me and my countless bags so she rented a truck just so she could drop us off at the airport. At the airport, she helped with my bags and paid a trolley guy to move my bags to the check in area before leaving. All this she did at no extra cost to me. Even when I offered to buy her fuel for her car, she'd vehemently refuse and tell me I am spending enough already as it is. This is a total stranger o, oyibo woman at that. Someone I didn't know from Adam and had never met before. I was beyond amazed at her hospitality and generosity. She saved me a lot on transportation and made my trip a lot easier. She was simply amazing to my family and I. God bless her immensely!
Mode of transportation - Uber and Lyft. I'd do a price check on both apps and request the cheaper option.
That's all folks. That's as far as my trip went.
Goodluck to everyone still on the journey and congratulations in advance. May it end in praise for everyone of you.
Officially hanging up my child bearing boots! Thank God for everything!! |

Ayotundesh: Hello people just in case you are traveling local flights to connect with your international flights...e.g from Abuja to Lagos.
The local air lines don't allow you fly over 30 weeks, within the country.... While international air lines go as far as 36 weeks.
Our local flights average 1 hour... not up to a regular Nigerian movie some may sit to watch.
Do you think they are trying to reduce the number of
persons that deliver outside the country...because if a pregnant woman is at risk to fly for 45 mins - 1hour at30 weeks, are they safer to go on a whole day's journey on rough, bumpy, dangerous roads to same destination? Nope.... is just airline policy. Even if you are travelling from lagos to owerri. They just can't afford to handle any emergency above that 30wks. |
