Happy Independence Day guys. Quick one: has anyone ever declared over 10k? Why do people go to great lengths to avoid it? For my DS' I literally declared like 9990 lol. But now I'm wondering: why can't I just take the full amount I want to use. So aside of safekeeping of the amount and the danger of loss, is there any other reason why people avoid declaring? What manner of questions do they ask in the declaration form and do they ever sieze funds?

Thanks guys!
every economy does well with less cash flowing around.
They wont seize it. They just need to know. thats why it is declaration form

I feel your salon gives you a better tie. It’s your own business.. a 150k job is equivalent to approximately $500/month. You can earn double that easily even with a minimum wage.

You will have to explain why the name of your husband has changed twice. Otherwise, there is nothing saying you should not try again.

Why not put both on your application. You can then put in your combined income.

"Nothing ventured, nothing gained" that's my philosophy. I'll advice you to read this thread like you are writing exam on it and reapply, come clean this time around. You should fill your saloon business as your job since it gives you more money. You can go with both you and your husband's statement, your husband being your sponsor and yours just being an addition,in that case the funds in both account must be able to cover your budget.Your husband and your business can act as your tie to home country. Be truthful and be prepared to explain if asked about about husband's name in your last application.
All the best.

In the spirit of giving back, I have learnt so much from this forum keep it up guys. I and my husband got our visa in 2016 which was used for the intended purpose Honeymoon and vacation in December.
I left Nigeria on the 28th of September at 31 weeks with BA, the flight from Lagos to Heathrow was so uncomfortable and their services wasn't so great.I got to Heathrow at 5.30am and had to check in for my connecting flight with American Airline to Dallas,Got to the booth and meet an agent.

AA Agent- Purpose of Visit to the USA
Myself- Child birth & Vacation
AA  Agent- Whom would u be staying with
Myself- Childhood friend
AA Agent- When last did you see her
Myself- 2005 but we keep in touch
AA Agent - What does she do for a living?
Myself- Health Administrator
AA Agent- What do you do for a living?
Myself- I work in bleep bleep and my clients are bleep bleep bleep
AA Agent- Smiles* and said I should proceed to the shuttle to take me to Terminal 5 and my mobility assistance would be waiting for me there.

Got to the terminal gate and requested for a comfortable seat and got one that had nobody beside me, I had enough room to stretch , their services was top notch.Arrived at Dallas at 1pm and we were the first flight that landed got my wheel chair assistance,Got to the automated machine for B1 & B2 visa, proceeded to the CBP officer.

Myself- Hello and smiled
CBP- He smiles back and hello too, he tried to pronounce  my name started laughing,I had to
pronounce my name the right way.
CBP- Do you have any food with you
Myself-Yes,plantain flour, peanuts, basil, pumpkin leaves and pepper soup spices.

He nooded and  started  gisitng with the lady that was assisting me,once they were done he was about to stamp me in without asking any further questions,I had to tell him I was here for Child birth and vacation ,he didn't notice I was pregnant and my tummy wasn't so big

CBP-How long are u here for?
Myself- 3months and two weeks
CBP-How much do you have on you ?
Myself- $ 7000
CBP officer- Stamps me in on my passsport  for 6 months (which  i didnt see how long )and said I would have to get to agriculture.

Got to Agriculture they scanned my bags and asked  whether I had indomie ,egusi ,ogbonno told them No to all,I had bleep bleep bleep.
Met another another  CBP officer, he asked for my passport which I gave him.
CBP-What are  u here for?
Myself- Child birth and Vacation.
CBP-requested for my doctors correspondence  which I gave him and  gave me  back my passport.
I looked at my passport and asked the officer how long am I stamped in for and he joked for a day, I finally saw where i was stamped till March 2018.Proceeded to go and check into my local flight to Houston.
POE was a breeze for me i spent just 20 mins in total from the CBP and agriculture.
Resting and waiting for my doctors appointment on Tuesday.

Congrats on safe arrival
Pls which hosp and dr are u using in dallas.

Is it complusory for you to know someone over there? Because I don't and intend to stay on my own at a hotel till baby comes. My baby daddy might come later if he is able to make it off work. Is this an issue? I don't want the visa officer to bounce me o both in Naija and obodoyinbo.

in the spirit of not giving up, read the thread over and over again like u are preparing for an exam. then reapply again and come clean as advised. Please note that sometime failure teaches success and at the end, u will have cause to thank God. Never give up no retreat no surrender. sometime pple will discourage u but never look at their direction. my advice is that also use whatever u think can increase ur chance

she says she is proceeding to Houston. I have some some research though on dallas when the hurricane in Houston was raging and I presume baylor scott and white in white rock appears to be the most affordable over there. someone mentioned medical centre of Dallas though. can't confirm that right away.

Congrats on safe arrival

I renewed recently. Nothing has changed significantly other than the fee (64k chaii)

The only difference now is that when filling the DS 160, there is a last page that requires one to upload a picture. Previously one could bypass this step and bring a hard copy.

Now, it is compulsory to upload a picture, and also bring hard copies along when submitting.

Mine took 4 days.

Renewal should be by drop box except your visa expired like 2 years ago, then in that case, you might need to go for interview. Anyways ,after submiting and you're about to book appointment for interview, you'll then find out if you are qualified for drop box

No,it's not compulsory for you to know someone over there,if you take out time to read this thread thoroughly you will find out that a lot of people did as you are about to do. Just perfect your accommodation plans and have evidence eg hotel reservation printout or receipt
