Reeling out economic theories is not the same as being in the hot seat and dealing with the politico-economic realities on the ground. It was Soludo's textbook economics theories that allowed Akingbola and Ibru to almost ruin two of the biggest banks in the country, until Sanusi came to the rescue. So, save us that trash of a story. We all know that Soludo has not recovered from getting his fingers burnt in his attempt to become governor of anambra state. He should rather lick his wounds in silence than come here to reel out figures which do not factor in the political exigences that impact whatsoever economic policy any government would want to implement in nigeria. However, both presidential candidates are yet to present to us what their economic plans are. If Jonathan can show us his plans, surely he would win our support. GEJ and his economic team where never taken unawares by the present drop in crude oil prices, infact, they have always had a blueprint on how to revamp our economy. They had long started the diversification of our economy with the massive investment in agriculture, transportation, oil and gas, power supply, new automotive policy etc. It therefore is no surprise that revenue from crude oil export constitutes only over 50% of our GDP, and the government is working hard towards bringing it further down to about 40%. It takes an economic team that has been diligent and focused to achieve this feat just over 5 years. The devaluation of the naira stems from the drop in crude oil revenue, just as it has happened in other countries like Russia, Venezuela, Iran, that are heavily dependent on crude oil as a major source of foreign exchange. The present free fall of the naira that has been experienced in the past two weeks stems from the speculation arising from the uncertainties about the result of the february 14th elections. Foreign director investments in the capital market are being taken away due to this speculations, anxious nigerians are buying up as much dollars as possible over fear of the likely results of the elections, all causing a free fall of the naira. This artificial fall in the naira will normalize after the elections, if the results goes true to the expectations of the organised private sector (OPS). A GEJ victory will undoubtedly restore the much needed calm in the economy, while a victory for Buhari, though unlikely, will spell doom for the economy. It will typically be a case of jumping from the frying pan into fire. It is unfortunate that the opposition, rather than presenting a detailed economic blueprint on how they intend to solve the economic problems, are shrouding everything under a cloud of ambiguity and bogus promises. Which investor would make investment plans on the basis of vague and bogus promises? People will rather freeze any existing investments till the economic climate becomes clearer. Nigeria can ill-afford the present distractions from the APC factory of propaganda and lies which is achieving nothing other than to heat up the economic climate. We remain committed to the nigerian project under the able leadership of GEJ. GEJ till 2019.

O wonder where Soludo was when Tinubu was getting the supreme court to declare the excess crude account illegal, I wonder where he was when Amaechi and the mostly APC governors were raising so much dust over the creation of the sovereign wealth fund by GEJ, I wonder where Soludo and the APC were, when the national assembly, against the advice of the Minister of finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, was increasing the crude oil benchmark for the yearly budgets for the past 5 years. Now it is politically correct to talk about the need for GEJ to have saved much of the windfall from the oil boom. Is it not sheer mischief for the APC to be making political capital out of an issue that they instigated? How do you divorce the exchange rate of the naira from the size of the foreign reserve/sovereign wealth fund? How much has each APC state contributed to the sovereign wealth fund? What is their economic blueprint towards getting nigeria out of this economic situation that is affecting countries like Nigeria, Russia, Iran, Venezuela etc? Rather what we see is the reeling out of bogus promises to pay this and pay that to this person and that person, without telling their gullible followers where they intend to get the money to fund all those promises. This is a clear case of sheer opportunism, riding on the discontent of the populace due to the fall in the price of crude oil, to take over power, just like he did in 1983, only to end up compounding the problem. Nigerians have learnt from that bitter experience, and would keep faith with the present government in order to ensure that history does not repeat itself, because if Shagari government was left alone, they were in a far better position to get the country out of the mess. Unfortunately for Shagari's government, most of the opposition to his government stemmed from disgruntled politicians who had lost in the past elections, such as MKO Abiola and co, this led nigeria down the path of 16 years of military misrule. Your answer is indeed revealing, it simply shows that people like you who go about criticizing GEJ know little or not about what an economic blue print is. They have not put together any document with which the electorate and organised private sector can plan with, that is why there is so much speculations as to what may become of the nigerian economy, if Buhari is to win the elections. This speculation is adversely affecting FDIs and the value of the naira, no to talk of a halt in all forms of investments by businesses. It goes to show that the people whose actions and inactions, generated the problems do not have the capacity to effect any positive change. The solution to this present problem is the restructuring of the country along the lines of true federalism, only than can we not have history repeating itself on this issue of monies from oil boom. Whe n it comes to cutting down on the cost of governance, the national assembly becomes bipartisan, ensuring that there are no reductions in government expenditure. Why has the Oresanya report on the restructuring of the civil service not yet implemented? Have you bothered to ask why we are spending over 90% of our budget on recurrent expenditure? A lot of the ministries, agencies and parastatals which were recommended to be scrapped, where established by acts of parliament, meaning that the national assembly needs to amend the relevant laws in order to reduce the size of government. On issues like this, the NA adopts a bipartisan approach, so it smacks of sheer mischief and distortion of facts for Soludo to come here reeling out figures as if reducing government spending is done by just wishful thinking. It will take a bipartisan approach from all members of the political class, at all levels, to bring down the cost of governance. Anything other than that is mere grandstanding by the so-called agents of change. GEJ remains the only viable option in getting nigeria out of the present economic mess. GEJ till 2019.

Please, provide us with what policy direction APC intends to pursue, other than to come and reverse all the privitization that has been done and return us to status quo. Where will APC get the funding for all the bogus promises they are making all over the place. Let us not forget the Tinubu and Amaechi were two key individuals who vehemently kicked against any form of savings from the oil boom era, first, Tinubu went to court over the excess crude account set up by OBJ, and go the supreme court to declare it illegal, secondly, Amaechi under the governors forum, opposed the sovereign wealth fund that GEJ set up, they wanted GEJ to bring all the monies and share between the FG and state governments. Coming to the budget, how many times has the national assembly increased the crude oil benchmark for the yearly budgets? They always increase it to ensure that less is available for savings. That there hasn't been meaningful savings throughout the period of the oil boom, has not been for want of trying by GEJ and his economic team, rather, it has happened due to the collective greed of the likes of Tinubu, Amaechi and other key members of the opposition, who today have become the self appointed apostles of 'change', who is deceiving who? Most of we Igbos commenting here are no less Lagosians than any other person in Lagos because a lot of us were born here, and we have lived here basically all our lives. There won't be war if GEJ is not re-elected, rather there may be armed struggle/guerrilla warfare which will bring down the new government in three months. When there is no longer money to share, their will be mass protests over unpaid salaries, job losses etc, to the extent that a revolution will take palace. This revolution will amonsgt other things, give rise to am emergency restructuring of Nigeria along the lines of fiscal federalism, this will permanently put an end to the born to rule mentality of the Hausa/Fulani. You may consider it a joke but when the Niger delta militants reduced the oil Production of Nigeria to near nothing, nobody needed to tell Yaradua to offer them an amnesty deal,and this was after he threw the Nigerian military might against them to no avail. Oil production doesnt go on in a situation of war. Buhari will not be able to fight the Niger-Delta militants without destrying the entire Gas and oil industry in the region. this is not like bombing Boko Haram from the sky, Bombing the niger-delta is like throwing matches on gasoline,everywhere will be on fire. Sending in troops that dont know the creeks is a waste of time. The election of Buhari is the end of Nigeria. How Buhari can actually fight Boko Haram and the Niger Delta militamts at the same time is a joke. And all this while oil money is no longer coming in. Reality is reality, No GEJ,no Oil and no Nigeria.

Not to talk of indictment over war crimes that will hang over the head of the Jihadist and his followers, just as is hanging over the a President of Sudan.

The threat is unnecessary because GEJ will win the elections overwhelmingly, Buhari stands no chance. I believe the threat targeted at the sponsors of boko haram and the recent attacks against GEJ in katsina and Bauchi respectively. It is important for the jihadists and their sponsors to know that no region has monopoly of violence. Mutual deterrence is a tried and trusted way of enduring peaceful coexistence of people who ordinarily would not want to live together in peace. It is however important that all political stakeholders continue to sue for peace, for the unity of Nigeria is non-negotiable.
