Macelliot:
I learnt Spare parts from my Uncle. What you said is nothing but the truth. Buyers prefer buying used tokunbo parts to New ones. Used tokunbo parts are of original quality while the new ones from China, (even the ones made in Nnewi, Anambra state included) are of poor/qualities.....

I learnt Spare parts from my Uncle for 4 good years. I don't really like the business, so I ventured into Laptop business. I will be importing laptops online. My laptop apprenticeship made the outer world more open to me , so I am also considering venturing into Motor Spare parts business too as a side-business.
I am wondering if it can be done through online importation?
why do you not like spare parts trading

GetMeRight:
When I wanted to start my transport business, that was the same advice a driver gave me when I approached him for advice. He said: drive it yourself or give it out on instalments but don't give it out for daily pay.
The two options were not for me, I wanted the third option he warned me against. So, I forgot about starting the business for the following two years, I was doing other stuff.
After two years, I summoned courage and I bought my first minibus and gave it out for daily pay in 2018. Since then, there was no looking back or regret. What I discovered is that you just have to be a good manager: don't waste your time with bad drivers, be available to attend to them and their complaints and do so quickly.
is there a way I can work with you to drive a bus after learning Sir

@reverendfather
That's a long read (phew!).
What an adventure.
You have had a taste of what drivers see on daily basis. smiley
Lagos experience is x3 of what you experienced in the hustle in your Benin city.
I must commend you for your earnings so far as a test-runner.
That means, if na Lagos you run am, you're fit to make more than x2 net with the same expenses.
Now, I read where you dey think of dumping ur salary work for e-hailing.
First, note that this is peak period nationwide. So, don't let it push you 'YET'.
Before you can decide on switching to e-hailing fully, wait till February next year, then run the hustle and see if you're truly ready to take that bold step. Don't use this December to judge the hustle, it's not new to us.
Myself as a case study, yeah, I dumped my salary work for e-hailing with my full chest, cos my friends who are not even as agile as I am dey show workings doing bolt/Uber full-time.
With e-hailing, wetin I don achieve, my salary work no fit do half of it till today.
But, come back to Lagos first and run the hustle when the peak is over, na there you go know if you fit run am.
I no know how much your salary is, but e sure me say e no plenty, as you don dey think of dumping it since e-hailing don serve you over 300k within a short period already. grin
Indrive is reigning in Lagos, might not be same over there because of fare prices, that's why you no dey see ride there.

Much respect, boss.
nice reviews ooo I am currently jobless Cheif was working on contract in a private open university when it wasn't renewed as at October this year... In desperation I have even paid 400k to buy a teaching job in Edo state which is a regret now... So I am thinking of learning how to drive getting documentation and going for the craft of e hailing... How do U see it

Obedibombedi:
Be a master at either long trips or short trips, and stick to one.
It helps monitor your fuel expenditure.

You don't have to please any rider, it's not your responsibility.

Take Wait time seriously.
Most times I tell my riders(in drive) that I've arrived when I'm about 3mins away.

Aim to complete more good trips. Bad trips are also vital for re-positioning.

Have a strong goal, it will drive you to keep chasing e-hailing money.

What ever you do, ensure your vehicle is pristine from September to December.

Don't cheat the system.

It's an honest hustle. One can become a multi-millionaire in few years.
what's do advice for someone who wants to learn to drive in Lagos and get on the Uber trade thanks would be waiting for your advice

Let them be playing and complaining about indrive and rida....moove is cashing out, what most riders need is a feeling of security in a car and being able to order a ride at any corner or any given time. More of indrive-like apps may come up in the future and the race gets more difficult

Everyday we replay the same mistakes companies like Kodak, Nokia, IBM, Motorola, Blackberry, 2go, Yahoo messenger etc made.
They all failed to adapt to prevailing changes. If u are adverse to change the world will leave u behind.
- U must be constantly looking for avenues to remain afloat in ur business.
- U must continually search for ways to deliver your product/services the way the customer wants it.
- U must look at your environment and design your business plan to model the reality around you not an utopian one.
- U must look at the future and anticipate how the market will change and position yourself to adapt to it. If u can't see the future, u must be flexible enough to quickly adopt the change.

If u fail to do all this, be ready to be relegated to d background and further into obscurity.

Ehailing is undergoing a major shift right now, and except you are doing it part time. Full-time drivers must begin to think fuel saving vehicles, Hybrids, EVs. U are using 2.4 litre engine and above, drop it and go and collect Moove or find a 1.2-1.6 litre engine and buy or take up as rental or HP.

As I speak, I am currently looking for a small car that I fancy, a hybrid car or going for an EV with minimum range of 300miles.
1.8litre engines like Corolla, Elantra and Civic are just scratching the borders of profitability these days. Take ur destiny in your hands and change what is within ur control, stop worrying about what u can't change.
please I need your honest advice I am thinking of going into the e hailing business but ist I have to learn how to drive as I just lost my Job... So what do you advice... I have around 2 million Naira and would ask my people to aid me with the other sum to get a car after I might have learnt.. then I would have to be using Google maps to get through the roads... I will be waiting for your advice Thanks...

Bros eee, goan take the multinational job jare. I have been opportuned to work in SPDC as a contract staff. If contract staff can be well paid and taken care of, imagine how the staffs fare. Right now, an SPDC contract staff in Production department collects an average of N315,000 to N450,000. A staff of level 8 or lower collects from N800,000 and above, together with periodic training home and abroad. Its much better to work in a multinationational.

#30k/month or #300k/month?

How do you accept a job offer for #30k/month in todays Nigeria, with your skillset?

If you send out 500 proposals on Upwork etc per month, you will have enough clients/projects to earn you 10 times that pay.

Dont do this to yourself, they sensed your desperation and capitalized on it.

Sorry about your experience.
wait how does this Upwork works self

What you need is the determination to succeed. I was over over 40 when I left Nigeria for Germany for my masters degree in 2019. Graduated in 2021 and got a good job and the rest is history. I actually resigned from a well paying job in the oil and gas sector in 2019 and have never regretted my decision. Remembering and accepting that I had to work twice as hard was the driving force I needed to propel me to greatness.

Be focused and chase your dreams wholeheartedly and everything will align in your favour. I wish you the very best.

maestro299:
I remember a day in 2012. I was in Crime Office at Main Gate, Uniben, completing my mandatory security clearance just after my final year exams. The SUG elections were also billed to take place during this period. Suddenly, There was a large commotion outside of the building and about 4 guys were bundled in by the security officials, followed by a woman who looked like an administrative staff. The guys I learned were students of Uniben who wanted to contest for various positions in the SUG executive branch but the Dean of Students Office refused to clear them. Without that clearance, they couldn't stand for election as they would be illegitimate candidates. The woman who followed them in was the Secretary to the Dean. The problem was that, suspiciously, only candidates of Benin origin were being cleared, other non Benin candidates were denied clearances. The reason the guys were brought in was because they, along with their supporters, had gone to the Dean of Students office to demand an explanation. When a satisfactory one wasn't forthcoming, the boys began protesting the 'injustice'. The security men were called in and they rounded up the leaders ( in this case, the candidates) and hauled them to Crime Office. While the crime officials were questioning the boys, the secretary made a curious statement. She told the boys point blank, "Can a non-Yoruba person win an SUG election in Unilag?" I was shocked. Throughout my time in Uniben, the school had always championed meritocracy in appointing people to leadership roles yet now they had decided to play the ethnic card. I was happy that I would not be there to experience that with them. Sure enough the next VC just happened to be an Edo man ... smiley smiley smiley
but it's a Nigerian thing na... In Unilag can non Yoruba be vc? Even in ife pple were angry an ife indigene wasn't Made vc despite say na Yoruba the person be... One side can't be accommodating while elsewhere others node accommodate
