Everybody has a personal god which we refer to as guidance angle which is chi. Chukwu is God the creator. Chima and chukwuma are two different meanings.

Good to know you know the difference because many igbos here have been making that mistake. Thumbs up man.

Chidinma is the correct spelling

Beauty or good is spelt as "nma"
While an old woman or mother is spelt as "mma"

Chidinma means God is good.

Chi does not mean God in Igbo language. There is difference between chi and Chukwu. Chukwu means God and not chi.

I am still a bit confused about tithing but I want to believe it's a law in the old statement but we are now in the time of grace Jesus came and removed all the laws so we are not under any obligation be ye tithe or whatever we are now under the grace. But because pastors live fat on tithe which is one of their major sources of income they hold on to it.

I don't have a problem with people paying tithe but the management of the fund. If we are actually paying the tithe to God how come our pastors not given the money back to the society but instead they live big and fat on the money.

Our pastors preach give and it shall be given onto you.... Please, how do the pastors give, who takes their own tithes?

I stopped paying tithe to my church the day my church started a school with a school fee that 98% of the members cannot afford and they are not even giving out scholarship to members. And when they were building the school they came to members to give toward the project.

What I do with my tithe is to look for the needy within the church and give the money to them. You can say it's wrong but that is between me and my maker and I have never regretted my action for one day.

Let me tell you again, in my church all the tithe and offerings go straight to the central church, local churches are being run by special giving by members and especially workers as waiting for the token that comes from the central church at the end of the month won't even do anything. To fuel the generator of the church sometimes always bring issues between the parish pastors and the people in charge of electricity in the church. Note Pastors in my church are not even being paid salary. The only reason I respect some of them but they can't just talk too even when things are going wrong and it's affecting them.

People if you must give tithe give it to the needy, it has a greater reward than giving it to a pastor that is not in needs but we use it to secure private jet.

When Jesus took bread and fishes from the people he blessed it and gave it out to the multitudes(poor). That is what pastors ought to do with money contributed in the church, they are supposed to bless the church income and give it back it back to the society.

There is no difference between pastors and politicians in Africa both are enslaving their people and making them poorer by the day.

Please watch this video and learn more on how Africans have been scammed by their fake pastors.

Thumbs up. Pastors and self acclaimed men of God will always talk of Malachi 3:6-10 when issue of tithe arise. Why don't they refer to New Testament? Is it only Malachi that spoke about tithe? No.

People should stop thinking that it is because they pay tithe that is why God is blessing them.
Tithe is for Israel and his discendants as commanded by God in the days of old.

Exactly. Just like the parable of the good Samaritan.

Christ emphasis is on the people. The emphasis of most Church organizations is on money. Christians have abandoned the responsibility of helping each other. Some are thought to ignore a brother in desperate need and rather fund the church in the name of tithing while the church collects and look away.

Tithing is good but it's not as high a priority as our ministers make it look. The early church loved each other so much that they shared everything in common and there was no need to collect tithes.

Shalom

Thumbs up man. Christians don't get this tithe a thing. They lay more emphasis on money. If I harvest yam and bring one tenth of it, that is my tithe.

Another big lie. Making heaven is by God,s grace. So if you rob, kill, fornicate, have evil mind against your neighbor, and pay tithe you will make heaven? You and I don't know who will make heaven or hell. That is left for God to judge. Even your pastors, bishop, pope and priest Don't know who will make heaven or hell.

I thought the levites were the priests? And tithes was paid to them because traditionally they don't inherit lands and consequently don't cultivate any crops. Please can you explain better?

Yes. The Levites were the tribe of isreal the priesthood falls on. They had no landed inheritance. All of them cannot be Priest at once, hence the issue of refering them to be poor.

The tithe is to be given to them to be presented to God in the temple for him(God) to bless the people that presented them.

God also commanded the Levites to pay tithe and their tithe is different from other tribes of isreal.

The Malachi 3:6-10 that talked of robbing God in tithe was refering to the priests not sharing the tithes accordingly and keeping some of the spoils for themselves and also not giving their tithe according to how God commanded.

Tithe is for the tribes of isreal. You and I are not Israelites or their discendants. Cheers.

You seem to agree with me as well as the Bible on the instruction given by God to the Israelites on.tithing.

During the time of Josiah, the Levites, temple singers and gate keepers left the temple to seek their daily bread as the Israelites had stopped paying their tithes as required by God. The book of the law was found during this era and read after which Josiah wept, repented and ordered the Israelites to resume tithe payment at once thus they all resumed their previous duties as they now had abundance

I'm mentioning the above situation to emphasize the need for paying tithe to the church, the most important being that there will be enough food and other material necessities to ensure that men and women of God do not abandon their call due to lack of provision. This law remains permanent even though no one forces us to do this in the new testament but don't forget that Jesus was also a beneficiary of free will offerings given by the women who accompanied Him. Every ministry requires funding to be effective

Yes, i am an Israelite by virtue of the fact that I am an adopted daughter of Abraham.

If you have read my other posts you will see that I am not against paying of tithe, giving offering, donations etc because they are used to run the activities of the temple of God which is the church in New Testament.

Talking about if Abraham paid tithe. If you read that Genesis 14 :18-20 of kjv

18. And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.

19. And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:

20. And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

It meant that Abraham received tithe from mechizedek King of Salem ( Jerusalem). Other editions of bible referred to "he gave him tithes of all" to Abraham giving tithe to merchizedek.

The issue I have is that our pastors are not doing according to what God commanded concerning tithing this days.

They are after forcing and cajoling you to drop money. Tithe is not limited to money.

Tithing is an Old Testament practice just like in aspect of offering. In levictcus, God commanded the priest on how to offer oblation to him.

He instructed that the priest should wring the neck of the pigeons and sprinkle the blood round the alter and offer the burnt offering whole to him. That is the same thing our traditionalist I.e native doctors practice.

In fact, the bottom line is give in truth, good mind and freely whether offering, tithe, donation without being cajoled. God loves a cheerful giver as the son of God has told us.

In the Law, which God gave to Moses, certain statutes required a tithe from every person that belonged to the tribes of Israel (Jacob). They were to set aside a tenth of their crops, herds, and fruit, and then bring their tithe to the Levites; this is how God made provision for the Levites, the lone tribe that comprised the priesthood. The reason God made provision for the Levites is that they were not allotted a land inheritance as their counterpart Israelite brethren were given. So to compensate them (the Levites) for fulfilling their priestly duty, God made provision in the Law in this manner. However, you MUST understand and factor into your consideration is that the Levites, who were the priests, were also commanded by God (in the Law) to pay their own 10% as a tithe.

There was also measurable difference between the quality of the tithe that God required the Levites to give versus the quality of the tithe that God required the average Israelite to pay. The average Israelite was allowed by God in the statutes of the Law, to give any one of ten apples harvested, or any one of ten bushels of wheat, or any one of ten cattle, sheep, or goats raised, etc. The tithe required of the Levites by God in the statutes of the law required a much better quality 10%. In fact, the tithe required of the Levites judged according to the top 10%. This meant Levites had to tithe the very best of the best 10% of whatever they had received from the people of Israel. If you read Hebrews 7:4, you’ll find Abraham gave Melchizedek the “choicest goods” as tithe.

Talking of tithe. Are you a discendant of the tribes of Israel? You are a Nigerian.

Genesis 14:18-20 After his return from the defeat of Chedorlaomer, Abram was met by Melchizedek king of Salem and a Canaanite priest of God Most High, refreshing them with bread and wine and he blessed Abram. The blessing was given to Abram, a very important fact to remember. In response, Abram gave ONE-TENTH (10%) of all the goods of Sodom that were stolen by Chedorlaomer to Melchizedek. Abram did NOT tithe from his own possessions, an essential fact to refute tithing practices in the new covenant.

Genesis 14:21-24 The king of Sodom offered to give Abram all the goods of Sodom that were recovered for himself, but Abram refused, taking not one single item, to give honor to Yahweh, lest people say this pagan king of Sodom made him rich. This is a very important point, because Abram took NO INCOME and the tithe he gave to Melchizedek did not come from his goods, but those of the Sodomites and 1/10 of Lot’s recovered goods.

For me, I think my worry is what the pastors do with tithe money? There again in the bible it was specified what to do with the tithe money and if they do the wrong thing, judgment awaits them.
Finally, before you throw anything up for a debate, find out what your worries are; if it's about doctrine, dogma or pure Biblical instructions thanks.

Malachi chapter 3 verse 6 downwards is refering to the children of the tribes of Israel and not you and I. Read the chapter very well. Pastors always refer to this chapter especially verse 8 & 9. It is not only Malachi that talks shout tithe. Check levictcus, that is where offering, tithe, donations etc was talked about very well.

Yes lots of time. If you want God to bless you for tithe and offering it must be willingly with a pure heart. Lot of things some people find difficult to get u find it easy. Your salary becomes sufficient and more to spend without your own understanding. You just keep wondering how you had so much to spend by the time you take account at the end of the month

One thing is important attend the right church to pay your tithe. I believe so much in paying tithe. It works for us in our family. Anything we are in need we just turn to God in prayer we remind him of our faithfulness in paying our tithe. believe me God has been faithful. In a miraculous way we never even expect. All the time we are in need Without labour God always provide. If you are faithful God will take care of you.

Good you pay your tithe and offering with good mind. But note, that is not the only reason God is blessing you and your family.

Tithe is a way of helping the church grow. Actually some people give to the mission by going and some people go to the mission by giving. Helping the needy is very good and one of the corporal work of mercy.

Nevertheless, the word of God must spread and the church must grow so our offerings and tithes are essential.

NB: Never give with the intention to receive. May God bless us all

Offerings and tithes are supposed to be given to the temple of God. The priest will present the offerings and tithes to God to bless the handwork of the offerer and thither. The offerings are for the priest, his family and temple while the tithe are to be shared among the discendants of Levi.

Relating it to our generation, the offering is for the church, priest and his household while te tithes are to be used for the poor and less privilege among the worshippers and in the society.

Tithing is an Old Testament practice and is not limited to money. It is the one tenth of your proceeds and it is supposed to be given with a good heart and not because you are expecting a miracle or something in return from God.

God blesses a cheerful giver. You are not meant to be forced or cajoled to give. If we Christians follow the path of Christ and commandments of God, our world will be a good place to live.

How may time father Abraham pay tithes?

Does Jesus paid tithes?

How many times king Solomon paid tithes?

Have you been called blessed?

How many nations of the world know you for that is what the Bible said about who pay tithes?

Does the bible recommend using money for tithe

Please I need answers now?

In the bible Abraham, Isaac, Adam, etc did not pay tithe, they only give offering. Tithe was a command God gave to the other tribes of Israel to support the children of Levi. The discendants of Levi were poor, God instructed other tribes of Israel to bring one tenth of their proceeds to the temple to be used for the feeding of the Levites.

The issue of the verse in Malachi talking of robbing God in tithe, was the priest of the temples not giving the children of Levi the complete proceeds of tithe.

Offering is what is important to God. Give your offering to him in good heart and he will bless you. You can give your tithe to the poor and less privilege because they are the Levites among us.

Cheers.

Thanks i appreciate. Though i usually take a video of her recieving the money without her knowledge. What do you think?

Videoing her collecting the money can not be enough evidence to show she collected rent from you. She can claim the money people saw in the video is money you owe her for another thing.

The best evidence is she writing a receipt or acknowledgment stating the purpose of the money, amount collected, tenancy period, property address and appending her signature. That is what is obtainable in landlord and tenant law.

On issue of agreement.

Lagos state tenancy law 2011 section 3(a),(b),(c) states that agreement can be express or implied, oral, written, partly oral or partly written, for fixed term.

Section 5(1) states that any landlord or agent acting on his/her behalf shall issue a receipt upon receipt of rent. Section 5(3) says the defaulter is liable to fine of #100,000.

I know our legal system is poor but I pray OP resolves his matter amicably.

Visit the LASG citizens' mediation centre, they deal with this kind of issues. Visit www.cmc.com.ng or FB: cmclagos for a centre closest to you

Mediation center only mediated between landlord and tenant. They can't enforce judgment except through a court. So it is magistrate court that is in best position to handle tenancy issues.

When ever you are going into any contractual agreement with a person, make sure you receive a receipt or acknowledgment in respect to the transaction.

When next you are paying her, ask her for receipt or written acknowledgement evidencing receipt of the rent duelly signed by her.
Continue to live in the house if you are comfortable living there, but don't forget to collect receipt next time.
Thanks

Sir am afraid, what do i do? Thank you.
Properties / Re: Got Home Last Night And Was Told That My House Has Been Sold Without Notice by Ohanaka295: 11:24am On Jul 20, 2017
My say on this.

First, you made a mistake by not signing a tenancy agreement with the landlady. That is aside for now.

Secondly, if the receipt given to you has a fixed tenancy period stated on it, you are are covered because agreement can also be oral (parol). If you paid for a full year, you are a yearly tenant and should be given 7days of owners intention to recover possession. Mind you, you are not entitled to 6months notice because your tenancy should be tenancy for a fixed term according to Lagos state tenancy law 2011.
In view of the above, your landlady has no other option than to wait for your tenancy to elapse before quitting you unless she wants to use force which is against the law if you know your rights.
If she wants to sell her property to another person, she can do so while you are in occupation and you become the new owners burden.
To cut the whole thing short, contact a lawyer to write to her on your behalf. She should settle her issue with her estate agent.

Thank you

The mediator at the mediation will only appeal to the landlord to give you people some time. The best thing get a lawyer to drag the matter so you will have ample time to vacate. But have it in mind that you are vacating the property.

There is no way notice to quit can start to count at the expiration of his payment. Notice to quit either ends at the expiration of the tenancy or extends after the expiration of the tenancy depending on when it is served. If your tenancy ends in December, notice to quit should be served on the first of July.

In some cases of a year certain tenancy in accordance to Lagos state tenancy law, you can serve 7days notice to quit instead of 6months notice.

They should just beg for time. Some landlords don't go court self. They will just arrange boys or bribe their way, get judgment and throw them out.

When they will be thrown out, you people wit be there to save them.

trulife:
You cant just be thrown out like that esp. in a state like lagos.... the notice starts to count at the expiration of your payment period and not what they are saying. while in court save money and leave. get the details of their writs..summons or whatever n verify at the court they may not be real or if real defective.....you can also try to get the advice of a lawyer and do not panic. this is trulife advice

Once the caretaker has a proof of service of
The notice served on them, it is
Valid. He can paste it on their door and snap it. That already is proof of service.

They just have to plead for more time to vacate.

Eluwilussit:

You have a case. It is not as hopeless as some people make it sound. In the British common law, which most countries practice, including Nigeria, when one is in possession of another's property, after a period of time consent/agreement is implied. The law assumes that the owner of the property has given his consent to the status quo by keeping silent.

So if you have been dealing with the caretaker all these years and it was okay with the Landlord, then he was in total agreement with everything. The caretaker has committed a crime by backdating the quit notice, that is if you can prove that he did.

The quit notice starts the day you receive it and not the date on the paper, unless the caretaker can prove that you guys evaded the notice. This is a difficult thing for him to do. Go to court. Ask for the maximum time allowed by law, and agree to move out if it is not resolved. The law is on your side. More so, God is on your side. Don't panic.
Properties / Re: Sudden One Month Quit Notice: Please We Need Advice On Solution by Ohanaka295: 9:12pm On Jul 14, 2017
You people are illegal tenants already. First whose name is on the notice to quit? If it is the former legal tenant, just know that it will be easy to get judgment against you people. I it is your name, get a lawyer who can help you out. When they start to drag proof of service, tenancy agreement and some other things, the matter will prolong due to several adjournments, by that time you will have ample time to vacate.

From the look of things, I think the matter has been going on in court without you knowing. Before you know it, they will get judgment and get execution of judgment and your properties will be thrown out by the bailiffs.

You people have two options, get a lawyer to drag the matter a little or vacate. You can't win landlord on his property, even if judgment is in your Favour as tenant, you can never be at rest in the property.
