Because I told you about that fan, pointed you to the vendor, even went ahead to give you tips on connection and type of wire and also told you about the adapter via mail and also my experience and those I know that are using it, so why should I not be surprised about your questions and also feel offended about your thought that "it was a standing fan", seriously? you fall my hand. Pele mabinu I have explained why I thought the setup you suggested was more appropriate for a standing fan and was instead looking to see if I could get other option that does not require plugging to socket. I guess my assumptions were wrong as it seem that your suggested option is indeed the only way to go about connecting the fan. Sorry about that. mank1234: 2kWhr from an array of 1.5kw is not impressive. You should be doing 3-6kWhr if the system is performing optimally (enough load and battery bank to accept all it can generate) Right and I think I hinted that in my comment earlier; my current bank and load is not optimal so am not getting all the juice out yet. Nevertheless all my consumption needs are meet for now which is most important. KWhr explanation: your system works from morning to evening generating power in kw ranging from 0kw to 1.5kw since your panel max at 1.5kw. The sum of all that generation is taken taken to hour term. Example if you have a constant 600w power output for 10min that's equivalent to {600*10/60} ie 100Whr. So a 2kWhr generation can be said to be 2kW power output for 1hr but in reality the power was lower (less than 1.5kW) spanning a period between 6am and 6pm Yup understood, though I must note that my generation period is currently between 8:30 to 5pm and this is due to the fact that I am currently running the minimum panel requirement for the system hence due to low Voc the CC doesn't commence mppt early/late enough, will add more Panels in future as budget permits. |

Chuwaa: Hello Ma,
I have a 2010 corolla, the fuel consumption is nothing to write home about, there's no check engine light. I've changed the air filter and cleaned the 'nozzle' to no effect. A weekly N5,000(35.48L) gives me 200 miles with AC full time.
In my calculations I should be getting 240 miles if indeed the mpg is mpg city and "26 mpg city and 35 mpg highway and 30 combined.
What could be the cause because the car shortchanges me about 8miles per N1000 fuel.
I brought it to your workshop about 2months ago and since there was no check engine light, your workers said all is good.
I also noticed that once I press the accelerator, it seems air/gas is escaping from under the hood. What could be the cause.
Cc: Gazzuz As someone who is usually concerned if my car is consuming fuel (even without check engine light), I will say what you have is reasonable. My 1.5L engine Yaris gives me 250miles on 42litres so I think your 2.4L Camry, which is not hybrid is doing okay. Trying to hit the manufacturer spec in naija may be a tall order, what is important is that the difference should not be much and yours seem to satisfy that. |

earthrealm: wait wait wait, you mean you are harvesting over 2kw from a 1.5kw array/?. Yes my array is 1.5kw, planning to push it to 2kw to increase Voc so I can get better early/late mppt generation. Even at the moment, I actually feel I may have gotten more hervest if I had larger bank to what do you owe this superb harvest?..panels or Inverter? A few things: - Panels are sunfit, though not a popular brand but it seem to perform well and better than flames. There was a sunny day, that I actually pulled 8A off it. - Not too far distance so I have little voltage loss; It's about 16 meter distance from array to cc and all my cable connections were done with 8AWG double core DC cable. - I have a standalone setup for the panels. I have given details of that in previous posts Finally, am not an expert on solar but I have learnt a lot from you guys here (yes including from you) and I owe it to that as well am loving the in & out kw energy display of the inverter, could you post a link of where you bought it again Thanks, I bought mine directly from manufacturer by sending a mail to sales@mppsolar.com but it's also on AliExpress just that buying from there cost more. That said, I am actually still trying to understand how the kWh is read, does it mean that I did 2kw every hour? Regards |

nurey: The Highlander has approximately 75L while sienna has 79L
for the 1mz we have 2wd V6 17mpg city and 21mpg highway
4wd V6 16mpg city and 21mpg highway
both have a combined of 18mpg as fuel economy.
let's convert 18mpg to L/100km = 13L/100km
so your vehicle is doing 13L per 100km now to mathematics
75L(tank capacity) / 13L X 100km = 576.xxkm let's say 577km. when your needle would be on red E mark. so half tank should be around 280km.
What's the reason for the difference in mpg between the Highlander and the sienna? I will be back to trash this one out.
continued The sienna is 100kg heavier than the Highlander so in retrospect the Highlander should be fuel efficient than the sienna but for Toyota it's always upside down just like the 3.5L 2gr sienna is fuel efficient than the 3.3L 3MZ which is better than the 3.0L 1MZ.
sienna 97-00 1mz 19mpg 198hp
sienna 01-03 1mz vvti 21mpg 210hp
Highlander 1mz vvti 18mpg 220hp
Lexus Rx300 1mz vvti 18mpg 220hp
Toyota harrier 1mz 17mpg 210hp
My final ascertion to the discrepancy in fuel economy amongst Toyota vehicles using same engine but different weight is probably to get more power from the Engine you have to sacrifice a little fuel economy. That's the only reason I can deduce from the setup, though I am not saying I am 100% right.
cc Ojeysky Actually I had even thought HL was heavier than Sienna to further justify the difference but what you've said made me check again....wow! Anyway, I just wanted to hear practical experience just to know if my utilisation is not far from reality and you've provided enough. Thanks a lot Jare |

ceaser: Bro if this freezer is really what Namzy claims, then it's the bomb. Just go for it. Just make sure you go shopping armed with your wattmeter for proper confirmation.
Other factors worthy of considerations though, will include the number of hours it is able to keep foods frosted off power (a factor of insulation), cos you can't leave it working overnight. Also in the rainy season are days of poor solar harvest which ma require some shedding. In such times, good insulation of cabinet freezers come into play. This is actually my main concern as well. When my thermocool was in top shape it could hold stuff for 3 days off power I'm not happy now cos I should have heard about this freezer 6 months ago when I secured that Thermocool.
But going forward, I think I will take more notice of some selected Hisense products in power saving capacity over Thermocool and LG products that I have grown fond of. Not so fast, while the power factor may be an advantage we are not so sure yet of how well it retains temperature level but I may eventually go for it just for a change; My fridge, air-conditioning system and freezer have all been thermocool |

ceaser: If the condenser is changed, the new one may not be a good power saver as the stock. Also these Kazeem technicians will install fan once they work on any freezer. That's added consumption. No it wasn't changed it was a panel that went bad in it and we could not get a replacement so he just connected wires together to get it working (my guess is that what he did made the compressor to be working on high operation mode), and while he was connecting wires he blew my interior fan, light and buzzer, by then I wished I could just turn around the clock. Unfortunately I still had to pay him |

nurey: My sienna is always in too shape.
I live on the island and work on the mainland (Ogudu) I am always zooming to work no traffic
I also go to Ogun state regularly I leave early and only get caught up in traffic less than an hour
I maintain 90km/h only exceed that when I intend to over take.
I don't pack load and my suspension is stock.
5W40 all the time and platinum twin tip spark plugs buy fuel from only MRS, NNPC and TOTAL.
The Highlander comes in 3 configuration s
2.4L i4 should have a better fuel economy than the sienna
3.0L V6 FWD should be identical to the sienna
3.0L V6 4WD should be just a stone throw from the sienna.
Then also note that I do more of highway driving in my movement when your journey is follow follow traffic in lagos, please stop calculating fuel economy cause you can run mad.
but your 260miles on full tank is alarmingly bad haba my Navigator V8 would do 320miles in city driving only with traffic. That's why am worried my brother (bought toks this year), am not lagosian so no much traffic at my end, my utilisation is 60% highway and 40% city, it's a 4WD 02 model and has no cel light on dash. I do 5w30 synthetic. Will try to replace plugs since I don't know milage already on them, and maybe will clean up MAF as well. Any other thing you suggest I look into? |
Car Talk › Re: The Might Of Fuel Economy I Don't Understand by ojeysky(m): 8:52pm On Aug 11, 2019 |
nurey: If you are using the fuel gauge indicator as your fuel economy calculator OYO is your case. Buy full tank, if your engine in the sienna is 1mz and is in top shape then
full tank down to the end of the first quarter mark is 150kms
quarter mark to exactly half point is 180 to 200km meaning full tank to half tank should be 350km, the more you deviate then the more you should be worried about my stats is for combined 20% traffic (1.5hrs) 80% highway (3-4hrs)
good luck. It's still strange that 1mz in sienna does this good milage. My Highlander does 260miles on full tank (150m on half tank). Though I understand Highlander is heavier than Sienna yet I think the difference is quite significant. Could there be something wrong? Ofcourse I have no intention of bursting my silencer pipe |

Namzy: It has interior light. Don't know what you mean by fan. As for how long before defrosting, I have not checked but I think my other thermocool is better. But the defrosting depends on a number of factored mostly how much stuff is inside said freezer as more will make them defrost less. Meanwhile because of its wattage its on for about 15 hrs daily so that might also contribute My thermocool has a fan, light and buzzer under its lid; this ensures there is equal distributed temperature within the freezer (I love the freezer unfortunately I lost all the features in the hands of kazeem few months ago when it developed a fault). What's the consumption of your other thermocool?

If I may ask, does the hisense have interior lights and fan? Have you tried checking how long items remain in it before it gets defrosted?

lexi28: is your breaker a double pole breaker? if yes, then the SPD connection should be made to the breaker inputs. if no, the breaker positive is OK, just find a common negative to connect the SPD negative to, preferably not directly at the controller terminals or most likely at the battery negative terminals (depending on the connections you used). the ground terminal of the SPD should go to the common ground/earth you have. if you do not have a good ground or earthing connection, the SPD is pretty much useless. if you got all connections correct, even without a bus bar, it will still work. cheers Yes it's a double pole breaker[1], so the PV cable and SPD cable goes into it. As to the earth, I have not yet connected that, I plan link it to the earth point of the CC(the CC is already connected to my home earthing system). 1] Yes I currently just place the SPD and DC breakers on the CC will hang it somewhere later to make it neat.
