He is still the Jagaban, eni to ba wo iseju akan, a pe leti omi.
Most of you guys showed your cards too early and you don’t know the Yorubas that much because when it’s time, people will heed the call starting from those Afenifere guys.
Check out histories in presidential election and you will know if Tinubu decides to vie for presidency, he will win the SW with nothing less that 80% of the vote.
Moreso, elections all over the world is mostly a contest to choose among two people. 2023 election depends on who is contesting against Tinubu. That alone will be what will influence voters to decide.
If Tinubu contest against Atiku, you can be rest assured he will win over 80% of the votes in the SW.
If Tinubu contest against Tambuwal, you can be rest assured he will be the same vote (80%).
If Tinubu contest against Sanusi Lamido, then he will get lesser votes.
Can you see that voters decision most times depends on the opposing candidate and that is exactly why Buhari won the 2019 election because that opponent is Atiku.
What I like about this is that most of you guys think you are winning the war of propaganda against Tinubu, but you’re actually helping to make him very popular such that when it’s time to package himself to the people, he won’t need too much introduction.
Do you even know how APC re-packaged Buhari in 2015 after all the propaganda of Islamic fanatics and bla bla bla against him? Sorry guy,I no get time for epistle. Nigerians not only Yoruba are waiting for him . |

awgumayor: If you have issue with Kanu you should face him and not dragging the rest of Igbo with you. If Wike is killing Biafrans/Ipob, and it happened that your brother was among those killed, what will you say about it? Have you ever seen police arrested the real culprits on the scene? Yes, Kanu goofed, he goofed big time and I condemned him. I condemned his unguarded utterances during the #endsars protests that was organized by Nigerians of all tribes. In fact, he was the one that disorganized it. If he is not loquacious, he should have waited to see the direction of the protests whether it will lead to his much desired Nigeria break up. I said sometimes ago that anybody that knows kanu should tell him to learn when to talk and when to shut up. Let's take sentiment out of this. The reckless action of Wike in Obigbo should be condemned in totality. He is not the only gov in Nigeria. Upon all the insecurity in the north no governor from there ever called the army on his people, Obaseki never call the army on Edo people despite jail breaks. Why was he quick to invite the army on the people that voted for him on their ancestral homeland. On the allegation that Ipob members killed some soldiers and policemen, the soldiers killed none of them has a name. Is it giving a dog bad name and hang it. As far as I know River state is not the only state where policemen were killed, why can't those states governors invite the army. My only problem with kanu is that he is talkative, but I can't totally throw him away because people like him are also found in other tribes. If you kill him now time will come when he will be needed. Igbo adage says " gbuo dike gbuo dike ubochi ogu achowa dike". Btw, I'm not an Ipob member, but I'm sympathetic to their cause. I can't be a second class citizen in a country I called my own. Nobody is forcing anybody to change his indentity, those who changed theirs are they better than the larger Igbo? I have nothing personal with MNK but I have problems with the way he and his group drags Igbo reputation and pride to the mud every now and then and as for Wike,The opportunist took advantage of the chaos in Obigbo to make a political statement,he simply use IPOB to score a political point and send a message to the North. Those who rioted in Edo state and other place were not shouting this is Biafraland and death to Nigeria state as it was in Obigbo.(you can deny it as usual) We shouldn't give our enemies reasons to kill us.Onye ndiro gbara gburugburu la eche ndu'ya nche na oge nile. The attack on innocent police has been roundly condemned by all. We should also condemn the killing of innocent people in Oyigbo and request for full investigation to ascertain what happened. All lives matter.
If you kill anyone for attacking police, that's natural justice. But killing innocent people because a police was attacked is grave injustice. Dele Momodu challenged Obigbo people to forward names of victims of the army operation I hope they take up the challenge. I hate to see people killed senselessly and knowing the kind of country we live in I expect IPOB to always be rational in their campaign for Biafra and avoid confrotations with the military..They called Nigeria zoo but still expect them to act like America during clashes. |

Ohaneze, in other to be seen as friends of the fulanis went as far as exonerated Wike being accused of killing Igbos in their ancestral homeland. Wike, despite the killings went to Sokoto to lay block foundation. The people of Obigbo know the truth, but their hands are tied. The fear of losing relevance in the politics of River State made them mute. Some are waiting for the right time to speak up. For somebody like Kanu to keep telling everyone the original names of those places is something commendable. IPOB should also apply wisdom and wait for that right time. chrisxxx: Chiefs beg Defence Headquarters not to withdraw soldiers in Oyigbo.
Chiefs have implored the Defence Headquarters not to withdraw soldiers deployed to restore peace in the Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State in order to prevent remnants of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), from regrouping.
The chiefs under the aegis of Ogbakor Oyigbo, have also urged all those who deserted Oyigbo to return as normalcy has been restored.
The appeal to the military authorities was made when the Publisher of the Ovation International Magazine, Chief Dele Momodu, visited Oyigbo, to assess the situation in the area ground.
A high chief, Eze Ukwu III, Louis Okorie, told Momodu and his delegation that the community chiefs do not approve the withdrawal of soldiers from Oyigbo. He expressed serious concern that if soldiers are withdrawn from Oyigbo, IPOB anarchists would unleash violence in the area.
" The Ogbakor Oyigbo General held a meeting here yesterday and said they will not allow the removal of soldiers from Oyigbo. On 12th of November, 2020 we met with the Local Government Chairman, Gerald Aforji, informing him of our plight. We don't want Army to be withdrawn for the benefit of Oyigbo people. We need to be careful of the remnants of IPOB terrorists. We thank Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for imposing of curfew which has calmed down the situation in Oyigbo.”
In the same vein, High Chief, Lisbery Onyegorom, narrated that indigenes of Oyigbo were astounded by the wanton destruction unleased on their community by members of the outlawed, IPOB.
"We were surprised by the level of destruction by the IPOB. We are Rivers State and Niger Delta people. Our people are not members of IPOB . I am not aware of any Oyigbo indigene who is a member. We don't allow that.
“Now, that the IPOB have killed some soldiers, all of them have ran away. The Army is investigating and fishing them out . Most of the IPOB members arrested have given vital information about the remnants.
“We are in support of the Governor's ban on IPOB activities across Rivers State and hoisting of IPOB Flag.”
Onyegorom frowned at allegation of extrajudicial killings levelled against Nigerian Army by some persons working for some extraneous forces playing petty politics with the Oyigbo issue.
" We are tsolidly behind our Governor’s effort to maintain peace in Oyigbo. The Governor did not say, go and kill people. The Army came on a rescue mission . That's what they came for. It is the deployment of the Army that give us comfort to remain here. For now, we hear of threat to protest again. Army is going no where. Let the Army stay until we are sure of peace in Oyigbo.”
" Those who ran away should come back. The Army is not chasing any body. Army is not killing any person. Let the Army stay, until we are sure peace has returned.”
On his part, the Chairman of Oyigbo Local Government Area, Prince Gerald Oforji said most of the negative information peddled in the media on the situation in the area are unfounded.
"Today, I am very happy for the visit by the Ovation family to assess the wanton destruction carried out on the 20 October by the IPOB. Today ,they have come to assess and see things for themselves based on lopsided information they have been getting concerning Oyigbo. I believe with what they have seen today, the world, can confirm that most of those negative information posted against Oyigbo, against Rivers State, are unfounded
Chief Dele Momodu said he was on an assessment cum sympathy visit to Oyigbo to see the level of wanton destruction perpetrated by IPOB.
Momodu, described as unfounded and untrue insinuation in some quarters that the military have been killing innocent persons in Oyigbo.
"The way they describe Oyigbo as if there is massacre, there is no massacre going on. I have not seen any massacre. I believe, we have moved round extensively, nobody has told me not to move to anywhere. A lot of people have challenged me that I can not come to Rivers and visit Oyigbo.
“So, I am here. For me, it is a mixture of sadness and joy. Joy, that am able to come here in peace, because the impression I got was that nobody could come here at all; that everywhere has been taken over by the military and people are been massacred. I have gone round. I went to the market, I have gone to the police headquarters that was allegedly burnt down."
Momodu later inspected some State government projects which include: Umunju-Umueze, Umuroke- Umusu-Umuelechi-Umuokpurukpu-Umuagu-Umugwu-Umueke and Umuoyoro Road. Others are: Umuakrikpo Community Primary School, Umuoyoro Community Primary School, Community Primary School Umuobasi Eberi and State School Obibi Umuogba. Source before I comment. |

awgumayor: I use to love your contributions on Igbo matter, but I disagree with you on this one. You gave examples of other Igbo towns that were change from their original spellings, like Oka town to Awka, Enugwu to Enugu, etc. Those spellings were corrupted by the British for easy pronunciation, but the case of Obigbo and Oyigbo are different. Some lies if left unchallenged within some times it become truth. Obigbo and Oyigbo are two different names with different meanings to both Igbo and Ogoni and they are in contention to both groups. Everybody knows that the Original name of the the area is Obigbo which in Igbo means HEART of IGBO, but was renamed to Oyigbo which in Khana Ogoni means YOU BEFRIENDS US. Changing Igbo' Obigbo to Ogoni's Oyigbo was one of the injustices meted on the Igbos which Ogoni capitalised. I don't think anybody should blame any Igboman from anywhere who points to those injustices. My brother you are absolutely correct but you know what? Why are indigenes of Obigbo silent about it? You can't cry more than the bereaved in this case, that is my point. If Diobu people are happy to call their land Portharcourt why should someone from Umuahia or Enugu worry more than they should? And finally, have people of Obigbo ever complain about the name change? |
