I 've finally been able to save #120,000 (it may be chicken change to some of you, but it wasn't easy for me). The next thing on my mind is to legally multiply this sum of money. Over time, I've seen the good advice that people get on this forum and in other sections.

It's simple economics BRO... The case of integrity or standards shouldn't come in to play when you are discussing number of pages but rather by what is written inside... Did the price change?

The price didn't change Sir, it can't even change because the revenue realised is more than what they usually get so using SIMPLE ECONOMICS it cant be more expensive.

My point is if PUNCH truly has standards and ethos, it shouldn't have stooped so low because of an inauguration ceremony. This is not just for PUNCH but for all newspapers.

Heck, that means with the right funding I can even tell the whole country that it's my chickens birthday.

lol....yes na, the older demographic of society and rural areas cannot control/have no access to digital technology.

The people paying for adverts also know that people will read their messages hence their paying huge sums of money to advertise.

I just purchased a copy of today's PUNCH and I was surprised by it's weight. It almost feels like twice or thrice it's normal size.

Today must be a good day for them money-wise.

However I thought to myself, is this ideal? Is this what the press is being turned into? SHOULDN'T A REVERED PAPER like PUNCH have a maximum number of pages? It's simple economics, if they set up a high standard, they'll simply charge more for fewer spaces and make more money than this weightlifting exercise they put Nigerians into today.

The paper is a whooping 160 pages today (observe that in the middle there are pages A1-A64 for most of the congratulatory messages and the rest of the paper which contains some more messages is 96 pages long). I believe they can do better.

This new change that we have ushered in must be felt across all spheres of our lives including the standard we set for ourselves. Have you ever seen TIME or FORBES looking like this?

I learnt that all relationships have expiry dates and there is no point of trying to make things work when either party has lost feelings for the other, the same issues will keep cropping up.

It's better to let go on a friendly note when such happens and maybe....just maybe, your paths may cross again in the future when you've been with other people but discover that none were as good as your first love.

Please I am very interested in working with the Nigerian Navy but I was sad when I checked their qualification requirements and discovered that, candidates must bring:

1. NYSC discharge certificate to the exam which holds on 11th July 2015, I'm presently a BATCH C 2015 corps member and we finish in October, is there a form of an undertaking that can be submitted pending when I complete my NYSC?


2. I studied Economics at University level and I noticed that it was not part of the courses listed, do they follow the listed courses strictly or can candidates with related courses (e.g.: Economics) still be enlisted?

I have attached screenshots from their website here. Please Naval Officers or individuals with general knowledge of the recruitment exercise should come to my Aid.

Another one is when sending your CV, always write an application letter to back it up, I will give you a scenerio, i once help a recruiter to sort out CV, after the vacancy closed, we already have over 900 emails sitting in his inbox, he was overwhelmed and asked me to help him out, so would you expect me to download and read 900 CVs , Never lai lai , i just scan through the email, i only downloaded Cvs of people that wrote a little introduction about themselves that interest me.

So always write a short info about you when sending a CV

Some people are lucky enough to get jobs before NYSC in places that corpers can't legally be posted to (e.g: banks, multinationals ). If you know someone that owns a school or works at a place where corpers are legally posted to, you could get a letter of request from them before you enter camp so that you'll be posted there and get the mandatory monthly clearance from them which is a prerequisite for allawee and getting your discharge certificate.
Some corpers also go to camp without request letters then they make deals with their PPA (place of primary assignment -where NYSC posts you to) and work elsewhere. This is risky if you have a job already because some don't agree to let corpers go.

The best way to influence your PPA is to get a "LETTER OF REQUEST" from them and take it with you to camp. Take note of the following:
1. This PPA must have a history of accepting corpers in the past.
2. The request letter must be in their official letter head (which shows their adress) and it must be colored.
3. It works better if this PPA is not too far from the home address which you write in the forms you'll fill in camp.
4. If you already have a real job, just get a request letter from a place you know will give you free clearance monthly.
5. The Letter of request should include your call up number, name e.t.c. Ask around before you go to camp, you may see a sample.
